Bound to be Re-Released at 99 cents

If you've been following my posts, you know that I've gotten my rights back to several erotic romances that had been released by a couple of my publishers who have since closed their doors. I'm in the process of designing new covers and formatting them for re-release. The first one was A Taste of Honey and you can read about it here if you missed it.

The next re-release, Bound by Design, was my best-selling title. I was thrilled when it was selected to be one of three novellas to be part of Binding Ties, a Samhain print anthology, as well as released on its own as an e-book. If you didn't catch it the first time around and you like sexy and emotional romances with bondage, spanking and power exchange, you might want to get it now at only 99 cents!

Blurb:

Jenn spends her days crafting custom-designed slave jewelry, but she’s vowed to never wear a collar again. When she meets Scott, an architect with a dominant side, she’s forced to confront her submissive needs. They are both healing from past mistakes and must learn how to design a new relationship with the help of ropes and chains and a whole lot of trust.

Excerpt:

“I’m attracted to you, Jenn. You may have guessed I have a great interest in bondage myself. In domination and submission. I’m interested in seeing where this night might take us.” He caught her gaze and she felt drawn into his presence. “So I have to ask you. Do we continue or do we end this now?”

Did she want to see where this night would go? Her body voted yes. After all, her best friend vouched for him. And she liked him already. He had a sense of humor. He was as sexy as the devil. He knew her secret weakness.

Or should she get the hell out before she got in too deep? Because, already, she could imagine getting in deep with this guy.

She could barely breathe. “I don’t know.” Jenn winced at the cry in her voice. “I’m sorry. It’s just, I wasn’t expecting anything like this tonight. I…I’m turned on, yes, but I don’t know if I’m ready…if I want to…”

He covered her hand with his. “Why don’t you tell me about your experience with bondage?” He slid his hand up and shackled her wrist with his fingers again. “Was it so terrible that you resist it even when your body craves the binding?”

She looked away from him, staring into the shadows surrounding them. She did crave it. The security of the bondage. The freedom of letting go of the control she normally held onto with an iron grip. But she didn’t want to lose herself like she did before. Could she bring herself to admit her experiences with Rob?

He cupped her chin and turned her face so he could study her. “Talk to me, Jenn. What are you afraid of?”

“Losing myself,” she blurted.

“No, you should never be afraid of losing yourself. You’ll find yourself, Jenn, if you surrender to your needs.”

She shrugged and looked down at her hands clenched in her lap.

“What happened?” He stroked her hair, soothing her nerves. “Was it recent?” His voice hardened.

“Did someone around here treat you badly?”

“No. It was back in college.”

He cursed. “A boy playing at being a Dom?”

“I guess. But then I guess I was playing at being a sub.” Neither one of them had really known what they were doing. But when it was right, it had been amazing.

“I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience.” He kissed her softly. “So basically your body responded even though he didn’t treat you right?”

“He didn’t always treat me badly,” she said, but she shivered as she remembered being tied up and left for hours while he got drunk with his buddies. “I think the power trip got to him.”

“A Dom’s first consideration always should be his sub,” Scott told her. He grasped her shoulders with his strong hands. “I want to show you the way it should be. Let me show you how good it can be, Jenn. Give me the weekend.”

“The weekend?” Was he crazy? “I honestly don’t know if I want to try bondage again, not even tonight.” Although if her body had any say, they’d definitely be having sex tonight, and she probably wouldn’t complain if there were ropes involved.

“I can smell your arousal, Jenn. I know your body is aching for a taste of bondage again.” He ran his hand up her thigh, dragging the skirt of her dress up with it. “Let me show you the way a Master should treat his slave.”

Jenn licked her lips and couldn’t move, couldn’t speak. Did she want to be his slave, even for one night?

“Let’s try something,” he said softly, seductively. “If you don’t like it, I’ll walk away from you and never bother you again.” He leaned over her and took one wrist in each hand. “Put your hands behind your back and grasp the slats.”

She nodded and leaned forward slightly to let him guide her hands behind her. He curled her fingers around the wood. “Now close your eyes.”

Jenn glanced around them and didn’t see anyone else nearby. Darkness was falling around them. She looked up at Scott, he was already difficult to see except for that white shirt. What would it matter if she closed her eyes?

“Jenn,” he said in a tone that told her he didn’t like to repeat himself. “Close your eyes.”

She closed her eyes and held on tight.

BDSM Backlist - Bound by Design

When you read this, I will be in the Finger Lakes, on vacation with friends. I hope to have some pictures and stories to share with you next week. For now, I'd like to share another of my backlist titles which features a BDSM theme.

I was thrilled to be one of three authors whose stories were chosen for Binding Ties, a special call Samhain put out a few years ago. My novella, Bound by Design, was released along with the two other novellas, separately as a download in September of 2009. The next year the print anthology, Binding Ties, was released.

Blurb:

Jenn spends her days crafting custom-designed slave jewelry, but wear a collar herself? No, thanks. Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt. That whole Master/slave scene was too much of a roller coaster ride. Then Scott, an architect with a dominant side, enters her life. Something about him makes her body come alive with longings for another taste of the lifestyle.

Scott’s life fell apart when he tried to deny his dominant tendencies. He’s determined to convince Jenn that denying her submissive needs would be a big mistake. Her response is so strong, so sweet, he finds himself falling again and falling apart for the smart and sexy sub.

Suddenly, something he thought he’d never have seems within reach—a forever love tied up in a nice leather bow. But any mention of 24/7 sends Jenn flying away in panic. If any real healing is to take place, he’ll need to take a giant step back and design a new approach using ropes, chains…and a whole lot of trust.

Excerpt:

Good Girl Heroines

This weeks we're talking about our favorite heroines here at Fierce Romance. It's not easy for me to come up with a favorite. I love all my heroines, from the submissive jewelry designer in Bound by Design to the futuristic sex slave in Chains of Desire to the customer service phone rep in See Me. I love them all. But if I had to pick my favorite type of heroine, I'd have to pick the good girl.

I've written several good girl heroines. Sarah Austin in The Ride of Her Life. Julie Brightman in Dark Angel. Annie Shane in Bad to the Bone.

Annie is the perfect example of the good girl heroine. She'd never done anything wrong, took care of her sick mother, put her head down and worked her job no matter what, got dumped by a guy who called her boring. She decided that being a good girl had gotten her nowhere and decides to make all her decisions based on the question, "What would a bad girl do?" Of course, she runs into a bad boy who tries to keep her out of trouble, all the while falling in love with her, and the fun starts there.

I have to admit that my love for the good girl rises from the fact that I was a good growing up. So I love giving good girls their own adventures. And sexy heroes who love them just the way they are.

How about you? Do you enjoy reading about good girls and bad boys??

For Your Amusement

This week's theme at Fierce Romance is "amusement".

I could talk about amusement parks, especially since RWA's National conference is going to be held in Orlando, at the Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin Resort, in a couple weeks. I could talk about roller coasters and fun houses and cotton candy.

But instead, I'm going to talk about romance novels, because believe it or not, whether it is a romantic comedy, or an emotional tear-jerker, or a paranormal thriller, we're writing for our readers' amusement.

The definition of amuse, according to my Webster's is "to keep pleasantly or enjoyably occupied or interested; entertain." According to the Online Etymology Dictionary. Douglas Harper, Historian, the meaning "a pastime, play, game, anything which pleasantly diverts the attention" (from duty, work, etc.) is from 1670s, originally depreciative; meaning "pleasurable diversion" attested from 1690s.

Sounds like a romance novel to me!

There's nothing better than to open the pages of a book, or turn on your computer or ereader, and get lost in the story of two people with wants and needs and problems, and experience them overcoming their obstacles and falling in love in the process. Reading a good book pleasantly diverts my attention from the laundry and the bills and any other problems I may have.

I feel the same way when I put on my writing hat. While I spin my characters' stories, I can never forget that I am writing for my readers. I'm writing to entertain them. To take them away from their problems for a little while and let them be enjoyably occupied while they experience my characters falling in love. I'm writing for their amusement.

Can't think of a better job!

And I got an e-mail last night letting me know about a new review for my novella, Bound by Design from Blackraven's Reviews. I was overwhelmed with the wonderful review. In part it said:
This is a great example of how magnificent a short story can be. The characters are easy to relate to and care about, the plot is engaging, the erotic elements certainly are erotic, and the conclusion/HEA ending make perfect sense. What a truly enjoyable story! Excellent!

I'm so glad I was able to keep the reviewer pleasantly or enjoyably occupied or interested!!

Binding Ties Releases July 6th!

That's tomorrow!!

Almost a year ago, the three Binding Ties novellas were released individually as downloads from Samhain Publishing. Now my novella, Bound by Design, along with Jenna Ives' The Initiation of Isabella and Skylar Kade's Maison Domine are together in a print anthology titled Binding Ties. Scott Carpenter once again designed the perfect cover to grace the front of the book. I can honestly say I fondled my pretty author copies when they showed up at my door.

It was fun working with Jenna and Skylar as we promoted our stories and I'm thrilled to say that Jenna and I will be signing copies of Binding Ties at the Literary Signing at the Romance Writers of America national conference on July 28th in Orlando.

Here's a short excerpt to tease you:

“I’m attracted to you, Jenn. You may have guessed I have a great interest in bondage myself. In domination and submission. I’m interested in seeing where this night might take us.” He released the nipple ring with a jerk and her breast bounced. He caught her gaze and she felt drawn into his presence. “So I have to ask you. Do we continue or do we end this now?”

Another Samhain Sale!

I'm thrilled to announce I just signed a contract for SEE ME, an erotic short with Samhain Publishing. Here's a rough blurb:

She’s tired of feeling invisible.

Irritated by co-workers who ignore her and neighbors who hide behind their curtains, Lydia grows more restless and needy each day. No one knows she’s begun to burn off her frustrations by dancing to her favorite music. No one knows the dancing has turned to stripping. No one knows she dances naked on her tiny balcony, daring someone to see her.

Then she sees the curtains move at the apartment across the way.

Wes is drawn to the amazing woman he sees on the balcony, but he soon discovers she’s not all she appears to be. As they spend an erotic evening together, he tries to convince her that not only is she brave and beautiful…but she’s worthy of attention.

SEE ME should be released this fall. I'll be posting more info here as I have it.

In the meantime, look for BINDING TIES, the bondage anthology from Samhain that includes my novella, Bound by Design. It will be released in print July 1st.

Recapping the Romances

My last release was November 1, 2009. That was five months ago. Besides the print release of Binding Ties this summer, I have no other releases scheduled. After a couple years of multiple releases, it feels so strange to not be working around and planning for release days.

Of course, I have submissions I'm waiting to hear on or ready to be sent out and I'm working on my first single title length manuscript. I thought today I'd just do a little recap of my recent releases. So enjoy the covers and read a few nice things reviewers have had to say.

The Better to Eat You With was my most recent release from Red Sage Presents. A twisted take on little Red Riding Hood, I've been very pleased with its reception.
It received a great review from Dark Divas Review:
"...you can’t help but fall in love with Wolfe, the same way grandma does. Two thumbs up to Ms. Moore for providing us with a smart, sexy, scorching hot, erotic fairy tale that’s nothing like what your grandmother use to read at bedtime. Or…maybe it is. I would definitely recommend The Better to Eat You With to my friends.

Rated 5 Delightful Divas and a Recommended Read by AJ!"

Bound by Design was released by Samhain Publishing in September. This novella will be part of the print anthology Binding Ties which, as I mentioned above, will be released this summer. It got 5 Lips from Victoria at Two Lips Review:

"Have a tall, cool drink handy because once you start Natasha Moore’s Bound By Design, you will surely need it! Ms. Moore sure packs a lot of heat into this novella... Bound By Design is a sexy novella that will have you squirming in your seat as you furiously flip its pages while two wounded souls find BDSM bliss in each others’ arms."

Two Lips Review also gave a great review for Chains of Desire, a novel from Ellora's Cave that is available both as a download and in print.
"After finishing Ms. Moore’s Chains of Desire, you’ll want to book your own trip to a faraway galaxy in search of your own lustful Doms and their magical cream which takes all the hurts away!"

I also had another print release from Ellora's Cave in 2009. The anthology Sapphire Sizzle includes my story, Lia's Warrior. Lia's Warrior received a great review from Alternative-Read.com:
"I like the structuring in this one, the ideas and questions that a strong, simple, smart man brought forth to those "in power", with the courage to fight for who and what he believed in. And let's not forget that sweet, but steel encased in velvet woman who finally decided what was truly important- seeking truth before blindly believing (oh, yeah... and love of course)."

I hope I'll have news of more upcoming releases soon. Until then, check out any of these hot, emotional stories. Or stop by my website to see all my available releases.

Have a great week!

Looking Back at 2009

So in this last week of the old year, I find myself, as always, looking back on the 12 months. I try to be honest with myself and see if I accomplished what I'd hoped to with 365 days of my life. Like always, I find that I probably didn't always make the best use of my time. I should have written more. I should have exercised more. I should have eaten better. Should have been more patient. Should have been a better person.

Yeah, all those "should haves" can really weigh you down.

But then I remind myself of the good things that happened in the past year. The great, unexpected things. Bound by Design was chosen as one of three novellas to be included in Samhain's Binding Ties anthology.

Chains of Desire was released as a download by Ellora's Cave in May and came out in print in September.

My Sapphire jewel novella, Lia's Warrior came out in an Ellora's Cave anthology, Sapphire Sizzle. (And I just found out we received 4 Stars from Romantic Times - the review will be included in the February issue of RT Book Reviews.)

The Ride of Her Life won the New England Reader's Choice Award for best short contemporary in 2009.

Sunrise (included in Jewels of the Nile II)won the Passionate Plume for best erotic novella this year as well.

And the cover for The Better to Eat You With won the weekly Cover Clash at Embrace the Shadows.

I've been blessed with a lot of great reviews, including this new one at Fresh Fiction for Dark Angel which was released by Red Sage last January.

I made a lot of new friends this year in the writing community. I've done my best to keep in contact with old friends too. And the notes I've received from readers always make my day, letting me know I must be doing something right. While I rarely find the time to update them, I'm now on Facebook and Twitter, as well as MySpace.

And since The Better To Eat You With won a weekly Cover Clash, it is up for the 2009 Ultimate Clash at Embrace the Shadows. There are only a few days left to vote, so if you haven't already done so, I'd love your vote. The artist, Kanaxa, did an awesome job on this cover and will win an award as well if we win. You can check it out here.

So now, as I look back, I see that 2009 wasn't so bad after all. I'll just have to work on the exercise and eating better and having more patience...

So how was your 2009???

Bound by Design by Natasha Moore

For the next three days here at Fierce Romance, we’ll be featuring the Binding Ties novellas, a new anthology from Samhain Publishing which releases tomorrow, September 29th. I’m thrilled that my story, Bound by Design, was chosen to be part of this anthology, along with stories by the talented Jenna Ives and Skylar Kade. The covers are gorgeous, the stories are hot! The novellas will be released as downloads first, then they will be released together in a print anthology in summer 2010.

In Bound by Design, Jenn Abbott has vowed to never wear a collar again. She escaped from a bad Master/slave relationship years ago and never wants to get back into that whole Dominant/submissive lifestyle. But when she meets Scott Kinsley, his natural dominance calls to the submissive still locked inside her. Suddenly her body comes alive and she’s tempted to do what she thought she never would.

A collar is not only a symbol of submission. It can be a play toy. It can be a training tool. Wrapped around your neck, it’s a reminder of the control you willingly surrender. Hook a leash onto it and the sexy guy you trust can lead you anywhere he wants you to go. Clip a chain onto it and you can be held in place while he plays with your body and brings you amazing pleasure. There are many kinds of collars, from crude utilitarian ones to fine jewelry.

To Jenn, the collar at first symbolizes how she lost herself in her previous relationship, but she knows that it should signify respect, trust, commitment. But can she trust Scott with her body and her heart?

You can check out an excerpt of Bound by Design here.

To celebrate the release of Binding Ties, Jenna, Skylar and I are holding a month-long contest. In keeping with the theme of our stories, the prize is a Bondage Kit, complete with a blindfold and wrist and ankle cuffs! Wouldn’t that add a little fun to your evening? To enter the contest, just send an e-mail to bindingties-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

I hope you’ll check out Bound by Design and the other Binding Ties novellas when they release tomorrow.
