Why I love both Project Life by Stampin' Up! and Traditional Scrapbooking and can't choose between them!

I had a lovely conversation about scrapbooking with a lady I met this week - we shared our reasons for loving our mutual hobby.  For my new friend it was all about preserving her family history for her children and her children's children for generations to come.  

I don't have children so my reasons are a little different - yes I hope my nieces appreciate my albums but my primary reason for scrapping is so I can look back and remember the fun things that have happened to me, the beautiful places I have been, the people who matter to me and all the other things that I have to be thankful for.  It is so much easier to look back over my photos when they are in an album that it is when they are in boxes or when they are on my phone or computer. 

As our conversation continued, my new friend confessed that she hardly ever scraps any more as she just does not have the time.  I do understand what she means - taking the time to make a 12x12 page is a real treat and I love that sometimes I can spend that time creating, but it just is not always possible.

That is where for me Project Life from Stampin' Up! kicks in.  I can use the pocket pages to help me go from this a table covered with over 300 photos to this in just an evening.

Another evening in front of the TV and I had put the Project Life Cards in the gaps and there is just the writing to do.

What I love most about this is that it is done and now I can take my time and make any 12x12 pages I want to add to that album. 

My friend was really excited about the prospect of finding such a quick way to get caught up and then to keep up to date with her memory keeping and I am excited for her too as I know she is going to love getting it done as well as looking back through the photos once she has finished.

Back to School Week - Day 4 - First Day of School Journal Card

Hello and welcome to Day 4 of Back to School Week - 7 days of projects and video tutorials hoping to inspire you to get ready for the new academic year in a creative way.  The projects are great if you are going back to school, know someone who is going back to school or if you just love pretty paper!

Saturday here at Feeling Crafty is all about preserving your memories and telling your stories using photos and words.  As the academic year starts I am sure you are going to have lots of photos of the first day of school and capturing the story that goes with those photos is the idea behind today's project.

These cute cards would look great in a photo album, a scrapbook, a project life album or even a photo frame.  And here is the video on how to make it.

Scrapbook Saturday - Into the Woods Sneak Peek

When I first saw these gorgeous hand painted papers while on the Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip to Madeira my mind went into over time - and not just with the things I wanted to make with them!  I was also reminded of a wonderful stage production of the Sondheim Show I saw and I film I still need to see ...  Anyway I digress, I love the rustic feel of these papers and could not wait to use the wood grain paper as the background for a scrapbook page.

It kinda reminds me of lino cut images and that makes me smile.  These papers will be available to purchase from 1 September - let me know if you would like a copy of the new Autumn Winter Catalogue that launches that day.

Scrapbook Saturday - A Start Point Page for the Feeling Crafty Scrapbook Club

Today I have one of the inspiration Scrapbook Start Point Pages I made for the Feeling Crafty Scrapbook Club to share with you.  This month's kit features the wonderful Bohemian Designer Series Papers and lots of fun embellishments.  I had so much fun with the bright bold colours and patterns as did those who have used their kits so far.

Love London Scrapbook Page Featuring New Bohemian Papers from Stampin' Up! UK

I love how London is full of hidden jems and beautiful things if you just take a moment to explore and look around and today's Scrapbook Page is all about some such hidden jems I spotted at London's South Bank last year.

The beautiful papers are from a new collection called Bohemian - and I am in love with them.  It did take me a while to get past the just looking and stroking stage with these ones but as ever Stampin' Up! help us with that and each pack has two identical double sided sheets - one for cutting and one for stroking and looking at until you are ready!  These sheets were cut and then punched using the new Triple Banner Punch.  The stamp are all available now.

Theses papers are one of the many many jems you will find in the new Stampin' Up! Catalogue and it is just 3 days away ... I can't wait to share!

Scrapbook Start Point using the Sweet Dreams Collection from Stampin' Up! UK

Today I have a scrapbook start point to share with you - this one features the Sweet Dreams Collection of Papers and the coordinating Washi Tape.  A scrapbook start point is designed to give you a basic page which you can then add photos, journaling, a title and as much or as little embellishment as you want.  

Here the Sweet Dreams Papers have been teamed with the coordinating Hello Honey Card Stock and some of the delightful Sweet Dreams Washi Tape.  Both the papers and the washi tape are only available until the end of the month so if you would like to add them to your collection please do so as soon as possible - you can get them here.

Scrapbook Saturday - Scrapbook Start Point Using the Sweet Dreams Products from Stampin' Up! UK

Today I am going to share one of the Scrapbook Start Points that we are going to be using at this month's Feeling Crafty Scrapbook Club.  Each month's kit features a different set of papers from Stampin' Up! UK and using just what is in the kit I make four or five scrapbook Start Points that those attending can use as inspiration to start their own scrapbook pages.  All they have to do is add their photos and any extra embellishments they want when they get home.

This month's kit features the  gorgeous Sweet Dreams Papers.  These papers are part of a product suite with a baby theme but they clever designers at Stampin' Up! have made sure that the papers and accessories are fantastic for any occasion.

This page also features the coordinating Sweet Dreams Washi Tape and the Elegant Butterfly and 1 3/8 Circle Punches.

Orlando Leadership So You Scrapbook Page Swap

It is very strange to think that this time last month I was in Orlando with some of the amazing ladies who are leaders with Stampin' Up!  Quite a few of us from Europe traveled over and we decided that we all wanted to make a special album to remember our visit to each made a 4x4 Scrapbook Page featuring our photos to swap with each other and that we would make them to fit in the adorable So You Album.  Today I thought I would share the one I made.

The Irrisistably Yours Papers have been stenciled using the flower cut out from the Artisan Embellishment Kit and stamped with the Best Day Ever Stamps - both of which are available as part of Sale-a-Bration.  If you are loving Sale-a-Bration be sure to check back tomorrow to see how it is getting even better!  

I have also used some Sahara Sand Lace and the butterflies were punched with my Bitty Butterfly Punch from some Silver Fancy Foil Embossed Vellum which I then coloured with my Tempting Turquoise Ink.
