Farmgirl In...Colorado

Thanks to another database training for work, I had the privilege of going to Colorado again!

Every time I go there, I love it!

Here are some pictures from my trip.
Day 1...a trip to Mt. Evans, immediately after landing.

Do you see the elevation?

My recommendation....
don't go to the highest road in North America within a few hours of landing in Colorado.

We all got dizzy.
There wasn't enough time to adjust to the new altitude.

Next time, or for you to take note,
don't make the trip up the highway until you get use to the elevation.
After getting off an airplane and getting the rental car, this was our first destination.
The higher up we went, the worse it got.
My sinuses hurt, and so did my ears.
I got a little dizzy if I moved too fast.
So I just took it nice and slow.
It was weird.

But the scenery and views were awesome!

 There are even some fun little critters that pose for you.  :)

How can you not enjoy Colorado with the beautiful scenery it holds?!

Farmgirl in: Bainbridge Island!

Remember a few weeks ago when I went to Seattle?
Well, I'm finally getting around to posting more about it.

Specifically.....my little afternoon trip to Bainbridge Island, to attend the Seabold Vintage Market.

An awesome view from the ferry.

A cute little Seabold Farm.

See this road?  Yup.  I walked down it to get to the little school house.
After hopping off a bus.
After getting off the ferry.

A great looking sign!

Finally.....the little school house/Community Club/Seabold Vintage Market!

Just a few people when I first got there.

Then a few more.

And a few more.  With some great looking merchandise outside!

Closer to 'open time', the line got MUCH longer.  I was sure glad I was near the front!

And isn't that bench cute??

A happy me, enjoying the ferry ride back to Seattle.

Next up...a few inside pictures of the market.

And hopefully the items I purchased {and WON!!!} there.

Until then, here are some links you can go to and check out.  I might be in one of them.  Can you find me?

Farmgirl In: Seattle

Finally....some pictures from Seattle.

I saw plenty during my time in Seattle.  However, I didn't see as much as I would have liked.  Due to the time of the training, I wasn't able to visit the museum, aquarium, music experience, etc.  I would have liked to have gotten a City Pass, but most of the places closed at 5 or 6p.  Since I was walking everywhere I went, it didn't seem like a practical idea.

What I did see:

*Pikes Place Market {flowers, fruits & veggies, flying fish, various other things}

{Can you find the flying fish?!?}

*Space Needle

*Numerous Piers

*LOTS of Starbucks and other coffee shops  {at least 1 on each street of every block}

*Too many homeless/beggars and too many 'homeless/beggars'

*Walked on every downtown street {or so it seemed like it!}

*The outside of the Seattle Aquarium, Pacific Science Center, Experience Music Project

I arrived to Seattle on a Wednesday afternoon, finally getting to my hotel after 4p.  I unloaded my bags in my room, then took off for a self-guided tour.  I made it to the Market, but it was pretty much shut down by the time I got there.  I eventually made my way to a place to eat, then headed back to my hotel.  I was beat by about 9p Seattle time, which was 11p Iowa time.

Thursday morning, I had already planned to head back to the Market for a little while.  However, this time around, it was just starting to get set up.  I still have no idea what the typical hours of the Market are, but I sure missed them!  There were more vendors there on Thursday morning, but not what I was hoping to see.  Thursday was also the starting day for my training.  But thankfully, we got done early!  So I took off on foot, and walked to the Space Needle.  I had already decided I would not go up to the top, since it cost way too much!  So I got a picture of it from the ground.  I then just started walking, and found myself over by Olympic Sculpture Park, not really knowing what it was at the time.  :)  I then made it to the Piers, and just strolled along for awhile.  {It did mist for a little while, but not much.}

Friday was a full day of the conference.  When we were finally done for the day....it was raining.  This was the first day that it was actually raining.  I hung out in my hotel room for a couple hours, but then decided to venture out.  Boy, was it an adventure!  There were some interesting people out all around the downtown area!  The rain sure didn't stop them from just sitting around and hanging out.  After I had enough people watching, I went back to the hotel....and ordered room services for my first time ever!  I ordered a pizza, and it was delicious!  I can't remember what kind it was, but it was yummy!

Saturday morning was our last day of the training.  We were done about 1 hour earlier than scheduled, and I was trilled!

What did I have planned for this day??

Heading to Bainbridge Island, to go to the Seabold Vintage Market!

Farmgirl In: Seattle

I arrived to Seattle Wednesday afternoon, and have been enjoying my time.

But, now it's time to head to my training session...which is why I am really here!  :)

Farmgirl In: Seattle

Not yet though.  I will be making a voyage to Seattle, for a work training, in March.

{Sidenote....for all my trips/travels from now on, I will be posting them as 'Farmgirl In:....'.  I thought that would suit me well.  Because this farmgirl will definitely be feeling misplaced wherever she goes.  Well, except for maybe to Colorado or Wyoming or South Dakota.....}

Here's my dilemma.....I have never been to Seattle before.  {For some reason, I just really want to go there, and this opportunity with work is great!}

Plus, I will be going to Seattle all by myself.  No co-worker this time like all my work trips in the past.  Just me, myself, and I.

So, I have no idea what to do.

I saw that the lovely Farmgirl Paints has been there, and sent an email her way asking for suggestions of things to do.

I will be staying in Downtown Seattle.  So I had already planned on visiting Pikes Market.

I would love suggestions of things to do that are on the cheap/free side {if you can find that in Seattle!}.  Due to how much a weekend flight costs, I will have 2.5 days after the training to do as I please.  This also means that I will be experiencing my first red-eye flight.  Wait....maybe my flight back from Hawaii to Iowa via Arizona was a red-eye, since it too was a night flight.

Anyway, I'd love some suggestions, ideas, tips, cruise ideas, etc.

After reading Becky's email, I will most definitely be preparing myself for some huge culture shock.Not so sure about that.

Or if you are feeling adventurous, feel free to join me on this trip!
