Do You Know How Many Types of Bling Eyelet Outlet Sells?

Ok, that's a bit of a trick question, because I (Lauren) actually don't know the answer. But it's *A LOT* lol! We have Individual JewelsSwirlsStripsShapesBumpy Bling, even Bling surrounded by More Bling... all of which come in at least six colors; and then nearly every variety is also available in Pearls. Like I said, it's a lot of bling, so if you cannot find a style you love in the Eyelet Outlet store, it may not actually exist on this planet. All of which may have tipped you off to the fact that my project this week is bling-related, lol!

One of the first things I thought of when I saw the new Fancy Bling Borders-- which are part of the amazing Fall Release, and will be in the shop verrrrrry soon-- was that their size and shape made them a substitute for places where I'd ordinarily use ribbon. And since they're very sticky, and quite bendy, I wondered if i could even use them in a 3D application, like say, on a gift package. Obviously, it'd have to be a special package, and reusable, so I separately covered the lid and the bottom of a small box with some glossy pink giftwrap. Then I trimmed a section of the border big enough to drape across one corner of my package, and wrap down onto the vertical surface of the box top. I un-peeled and stuck the center (horizontal) bit on first, then carefully pressed down first one side and then the other. When the entire segment was adhered, I trimmed the excess at the lower edge away with scissors.

The only thing you cannot do with the Fancy Bling Borders is tie them in a bow. But luckily Paper Flowers make an equally nice embellishment. Especially if you adorn them with even more bling, lol! On the smallest flower I used a Pink Flower Jewel. On the largest, I used another, but then surrounded it with Clear Oval Jewels and small Pink Gems. For the middle flower, I used a 12mm Round Pink Jewel with the Clear Edge, and surrounded it with Tear Drop Jewels, which are technically not quiiiiiiiite in the shop just yet, they're part of a huge update of new styles that will be coming ANY MINUTE! (& totally worth waiting for!)

Of course you cannot give anyone a package as fancy as this without a card. Which is also going to have to be pretty blingy, just to hold its head up, right? Still playing with the "embellished flower" ideas that I used on the package, I made blossoms with 12mm Pink Jewel Centers surrounded by Clear Oval "petals". For stems, I carefully positioned some Champagne Bling Strips so they looked like they were bending in the wind, and added leaves made by cutting apart some of the brand-new, coming-soon Heart Jewel icons. This may be the heaviest A2 card of all time, lol, but I love how it came out!

I hope you'll be inspired to check out the many beautiful varieties of Eyelet Outlet Sticky-Back Bling and create your own stunning combinations! ♥

Catching Up on a Latte!

Hello everyone!  Happy Friday!  Yay for the weekend, right?!  I'm so excited to be spending this weekend at the Stamp/Scrapbook Expo in Orlando.  It is gonna be so much fun to meet my Eyelet Outlet friends IRL!  I'm so thrilled to get to meet Suzanne, Dawn and Georgiana.  Dawn and I met online via Splitcoaststampers and have been virtual friends for ~10 years!  Finally we are gonna get to meet face-to-face!  O Happy Day!

In honor of this momentous occasion I made a "catch up on a latte" card using some Eyelet Outlet coffee bradsred rhinestones, and red oval sticky-back bling.  I love how the oval in the cups of the stamped image are echoed in those oval jewels!

To carry the theme to the inside, there's a single coffee bean to go along with the sentiment.

So by the time you're reading this, we will have already been sharing a cup or two and having a blast!  If you're in Florida, we will hope to see you there!

Have a great weekend!

Christmas Stocking Gift Card Holder

Today I created a Christmas Stocking that holds a secret gift card inside.

I created my own template and traced it once onto the polka dot paper and a second time onto the red paper for the back of the stocking.  I paper pieced the heel and toe and then added faux stitching.  My faux stitching looks a lot like my real stitching ... a little uneven and wonky ... but as my Grandma always told me "That's how they'll know it's hand-made".

I adhered the bottom of the stocking together and only taped the sides around the top, so the gift card has a place to slip inside.  The top is about 4 1/4" wide flap that I decorated with Merry Christmas Washi Tape and Oval Gems before tying it closed with coordinating ribbon.

When you slide off the ribbon, this is what it looks like inside ... decorated with some Silver Star Washi tape for sparkle.

Bee Beautiful Mini Book

I am in a mini book phase, they are so fun to make and just a chance to try fun techniques and get my hands all paint covered!!!

My inspiration for this mini book was bees, I kept seeing a bee/bug and I thought Bee Beautiful, would be wonderful for a title and then I went with the theme of yellow and black.  From there it just took on a life of its own.  I used a ton of paints and mists along with some various mediums with stencils.  I then added in some fun background stamps to help enhance the feel of the book.

Here is the first video which is filled with the cutting of the pages, mists, painting, stenciling, stamping, and a fun technique with the EZ Steam II material and glitter, embossing powder, and flower soft to add a great dimension and texture to the page.

From here I added in a few pictures of my little girl form this year, not many just there is room for more as the year goes along.  I also added in some fun bling, brads, and other little gems from Eyelet Outlet to enhance the entire effect.  I did not want to cover the pages up too much, I love the effect I got from all the mists, stamps, and stencils.

Here are some close up shots of some of the pages.

Inspire Art Junk Journal w/ Video Tutorial

I wanted to re-create a junk journal a friend and I made about 2 months ago so I used the supplies I had on hand in my stash to make a new one!  A little bit of everything went into this little book from all the companies I work with, for that is what a junk journal is all about anyway pulling things together from what you have!!!

Here is a video tutorial where I add in all the embellishments and give a final walk through of the mini book.

I also used Rubbernecker Stamps to help embellish the journal.  I used the stamps below.

Save The Drama For Your Mama

Ok, maybe not *actual* drama... your mom probably doesn't need that; but how about a little papercrafting drama in the form of Mother's Day cards? It's easier than you might think to create some unique --and dramatic-- effects. Let's start with a floral watercolor background.

What's that, you don't paint? Can you make a messy circle? Seriously, the messier the better! Make six or seven of them. Let them dry. (This is by far the hardest part; luckily, we have heat guns!) Add a few squiggles or swirls, with a pen or your sewing machine, or your favorite floral stamps; top them off with Eyelet Outlet 12mm Clear Edge Jewels or Oval Jewels... or both... and that's *IT*! Wait, maybe we should have a sentiment: let's make a home for it with a few strips of Music Note Washi Tape, then our alphabet stickers will really stand out!

Still not into the whole painting thing? All right, let's make some patterned paper, instead. I went with argyle because I just got a roll of super-fun Road Washi Tape and the dotted lines reminded me of stitching. Plus, what mom wouldn't like to get *DIAMONDS* on Mother's Day, eh? ;)

I hand cut these diamonds, but we all have a zillion punches and dies, don't we? Start with one basic shape in a few colors and see how many fun geometric patterns you can make. When you find your favorite, affix the shapes to your background and start thinking about embellishments. I must've been channeling a 1950's vibe because as soon as I had pink-n-grey argyle I wanted to add pearls... and what could be easier than Pearl Bling Strips? A few blooms are always a nice touch, and these gorgeous Eyelet Outlet Solid Color Paper Flowers come in packs of *40* with three graduated sizes and they're available in a few different shapes! I popped on some Bumpy Heart Bling centers and I was done.

I hope you'll be inspired to try something new and different... be sure to leave us a link to your own dramatic Eyelet Outlet creations in the comments, or post them to the Eyelet Outlet Facebook Page!

Easter Flip-It Shaker Card

Hello Eyelet Outlet fans!!
This week I went off my usual layout post path,
because I couldn't resist doing a cute card for Easter
with this cute pastel rabbit brad.
(He's also available in chocolate.)

Since this card is a flip-it style card I needed to hide the brad tabs on the other side.
So what did I do? Well use a paper flower and bling!!
I added some color wheel washi tape and oval egg bling for more interest.

Supplies

Come back next week and until then... happy crafting.
