Muse | Challenge #122

Happy Wednesday, friends! Today I have a card for this week's Muse Challenge. Here is the inspiration photo:

Here is my take on the challenge. The Funky Town patterned paper was my starting off point. I love the color combination: Papertrey Ink's Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, and Ripe Avocado. I also added Sweet Blush and Aqua Mist.

I added the confetti and stars, from Party Poppers at the very end. I felt like the card needed a little something extra in the white space surrounding the balloons. I also added a few enamel dots, from My Mind's Eye, to two of the balloons and the middle of the bow.

I used Papertrey Ink's Birthday Style for the balloons, string, and bow. The banner and sentiment are Wplus9's Basic Banners stamp set. The stars and confetti are from Papertrey Ink's Party Poppers set.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Retro Sketches | Challenge # 141

(This is my second post today. To see this month's Gossamer Blue Inspiration Blog Hop, please scroll down.)

This week's Retro Sketches sketch is a perfect for both CAS cards and more layered cards. I wanted to use a couple of new stamp sets for a simple Christmas card.

The trees, deer, and cardinals are from Wplus9's Winter Woodland stamp set. I used Memento Luxe pigment ink for the trees and deer, and Simon Says Stamp ink for the birds. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant's Winter Wonderland stamp set.

I hope you can play along with us this week! Check out the Retro Sketches blog for more inspiration and to link up. Have a wonderful Saturday!

Retro Sketches | Challenge #135

Happy World Card Making Day, crafty friends! I was really hoping to get some cardmaking done in my studio today, but it hasn't happened yet. Too busy getting the house picked up (my laundry pile is out of control!), playing with the kids, taking Jack (unsuccessfully) to three different stores looking for a Minecraft shirt, and a baseball pizza party. Our weekends are always so busy! Tomorrow should be less busy and I have quite a few projects planned. The three new Gossamer Blue collections are calling my name!

This week's RetroSketches challenge is called "your choice". Head over to the RetroSketches archive, pick a sketch, and create a new card based on that sketch. Sounds like fun, right? I picked sketch #50 to work with:

For my card, I flipped the orientation from vertical to horizontal, and used two stamps sets from Wplus9: Fair Isle and Pretty Poinsettias. I have the matching dies for Pretty Poinsettias, but my top cutting plate has vanished, so I fussy cut the stamped imaged instead. I also fussy cut the leaves. If I can't find my cutting plate tomorrow, I will have to make another trip to Michaels to buy a replacement!

I used Memento Luxe ink in Gray Flannel, Love Letter, Rhubarb Stalk, and Olive Grove. The sentiment was stamped with Ranger Archival Black ink. Three My Mind's Eye enamel dots in the center of my flower finished off the card.

I hope you can play along with us this week! Thanks for stopping by. :)

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #94

Good morning! I am thrilled that Christine at CAS(E) this Sketch asked me to be a guest designer for her this week. Of course I said yes!

Here is this week's sketch:

This sketch offers so many possibilities! Rather than cutting strips of paper or stamping vertical lines, I used a butterfly stamp from Papertrey Ink's Life is Beautiful stamp set in Avery Elle's Aquamarine ink layered with a die cut from vellum. I layered a button on top, then added a banner and sentiment from Wplus9. The gems are from Hero Arts. I've used the Life is Beautiful dies over and over, but this is the first time I've used the matching stamp set. I need to pull it out more often!

Thanks to CAS(E) this Sketch for having me this week! Thanks for stopping by.

Retro Sketches | Challenge #133

Happy Saturday, friends! I hope everyone had a great week.

I am busy, busy, busy created cards for the upcoming Gossamer Blue October release (whoo-hoo!), but I took a break from that and created a card for this week's Retro Sketches challenge. How cute this is sketch?!?

I used Wplus9's Valentine Wishes stamp set to create the white panel of my card. The flowers and leaves are one stamp, so I did a little selective inking with pigment ink (Avery Elle Lemon Grass and Impress Fresh Ink in Pink Lemonade). I used Impress Fresh Ink in Chamomile for the banner, and Archival ink in black for the sentiments.

While I love the images from this set, I primarily purchased it for the sentiments... I really like the font of "love you still" and the other big sentiments... very whimsical and pretty.

I hope you can join us this week at Retro Sketches! And check back tomorrow for a card for next week's Paper Smooches Sparks challenge. I'll give you a hint... google eyes! :)

Virginia's View Challenge | Watercoloring

Today I have a card for the first ever Virginia's View Challenge: Watercoloring.

My supply of watercolors is limited to a couple of Crayola watercolor sets that the kids use, so I pulled out my Gelatos and used those instead. I created an emboss resist with Wplus9's Fanciful Feathers set. After I embossed the feathers with white embossing powder, I colored some of the pink gelato onto my craft mat, then used a wet brush to pick up the color and apply it to my card front. I used watercolor paper (from Michaels) to avoid warping or pilling of the paper.

After the paper dried, I spritzed on some Heidi Swapp color shine in Primrose and Gold Lame, then adhered the watercolor panel onto gold shimmer paper. The "thank you" sentiment was stamped onto vellum (also from Michaels), then embossed with gold embossing powder. I finished off the card with some gold sequins from my stash.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Wplus9) Fanciful Feathers. Ink: VersaMark. Cardstock: (PTI) Gold Shimmer. Watercolor paper, vellum: Michaels stores. Patterned Paper: Making Memories. Color Medium: Gelatos, Heidi Swapp Color Shine. Other: Sequins, gold and white embossing powder.)

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Wplus9 | Trend Watch Challenge

My second card is for this week's Wplus9 challenge: Trend Watch. I used sequins, gold shimmer, gold enamel dots, and stripes:

(Supplies - Stamps: (Wplus) Fresh Cut Florals, Bitty Buddy Valentines. Ink: (Memento Luxe) Angel Pink, Rose Bud, Nautical Blue, gold. Cardstock: (PTI) White, Sweet Blush. Patterned Paper: (PTI) Enchanted Evening Patterns Pack. Gold sequins, enamel dots: Studio Calico. Button: Studio Calico. Pink enamel dots: Studio Calico. Dies: (Wplus9) Fresh Cut Florals.)

I am wearing out my Fresh Cut Florals stamp set... but I can't help it. It's one of my favorite stamp sets ever. :)

Have a great week!

Wplus9 | Comfort Zone Challenge

Hi there! I have a card for Wplus9's Comfort Zone Challenge. I like clean lines, florals, pretty colors, and layers! I used Wplus9's Coming Up Roses, More Fresh Cuts, and Fresh Cut Wreaths for my card:

I die cut the vase from the center of a large gold doily, then adhered it to a die cut piece of white cardstock (for stability). It is super shimmery in person. I used pop dots to adhere the vase, then layered the flowers over and under it.

That's it for me tonight! Thanks for stopping by. :)

Wplus9 | Monday Mood Board #25

Happy Friday, friends!

I have a lovely layered card to share for this week's Monday Mood Board.

I used Wplus9's Fanciful Feathers stamp set & dies. I created the background first, stamping the feathers diagonally onto white cardstock with gold ink. I added light blue, medium blue, and yellow dots on top of the feathers. The doily, feathers, sentiment, and enamel dots were added last.

I prefer basic, generic sentiments that can work for a variety of recipients and/or occasions. The sentiments in this set are some of my favorites.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend. :)

10 Minute Craft Dash | Challenge #31

When Wplus9 released its Woodland Wreath stamp set in October, I was in love. This set has several different wreaths, additional images to add to the wreaths, and a handful of gorgeous sentiments. It's the perfect Christmas wreath set, and I used it on my card for this week's 10 Minute Craft Dash. I definitely would not have been able to complete this card without the matching die. The wood grain paper is from Simon Says Stamp.

My total time.... 9 minutes and 24 seconds! Whoo hoo! And I love how the wreath turned out.

I have one more card to share today. I was perusing some of my favorite card blogs and I found this card (third card down). I love the gold ink with the scattered stars, and I decided to CASE it, using Wplus9's Folk Art Flurries:

That's it for me today! I have every intention of posting more December Daily pages, and hopefully I will have some time to photograph pages 4-9 tomorrow. I'm still working away on my album and I'm really pleased with the results.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

E & L's Color Challenge | Day 4

It's day 4 of our color challenge, and Leigh and I have each created a card based on this color combo:

And we are using Wplus9's Fresh Cut florals for today's challenge. I die cut a variety of flowers and stamped them using Papertrey Ink's Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist, Spring Rain, Fine Linen, and Sweet Blush inks. The sentiment is also from Fresh Cut Florals.

I am also entering my card in this week's Sketchbook Saturday, Challenge #109.

Make sure to hop over to Leigh's blog to see her card!

Wplus9 | Monday Mood Board #23

The Wplus9 Monday Mood Board is one of my favorite challenges... I love the mix of colors and patterns! This week's is a gorgeous collection of peach, green, cream, and kraft and a mix of flowers, buttons, and twine.

And here is my take:

(Supplies - Stamps: (Wplus9) Paisley Patterns, Sweet Nothings. Ink: (Stampin' Up!) Pistachio Pudding, Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, Daffodil Delight. Cardstock: (PTI) Rustic White. (Stampin' Up!) Pistachio Pudding. Patterned Paper: (PTI) Melon Berry patterns pack. Enamel dots: My Mind's Eye. Gems: Recollections. Ribbon: (PTI) Melon Berry satin ribbon. Die: (PTI) Pinking sheers edger die.)

The paisley image is 5 separate stamps that layer together beautifully. I just ordered this stamp set last week and I already love it. :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

CAS(E) This Sketch | Challenge #51

Happy Sunday, friends! I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I have a few new stamp sets sitting on my desk from Wplus9 that are begging to be used, and this week's CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge was the perfect opportunity to create a Christmas card using Silver Bells and Merry & Bright.

And here is my take:

(Supplies - Stamps: (Wplus9) Silver Bells, Merry & Bright. Ink: (Memento Luxe) Northern Pine, Love Letter, Olive Grove. (Papertrey Ink) Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Black. Cardstock: (PTI) Rustic White. Patterned Paper: Echo Park. Gem: Hero Arts.)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

RetroSketches | Challenge #86

This week's RetroSketches challenge had me pulling out several holiday/Christmas sets for my card. I used Papertrey Ink's Winter Penguin and Wplus9's Folk Art Flurries (my favorite snowflake stamp set ever!).

Here is the challenge:

And here is my take:

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Winter Penguin, Fillable Frames #7. (Wplus9) Folk Art Flurries. Cardstock: (PTI) White. (Stampin' Up!) Smokey Slate. Patterned Paper: (PTI) Pure Poppy patterns pack. Dies: (PTI) Winter Penguin, Fillable Frames #7. Ink: (PTI) Pure Poppy, True Black. (Stampin' Up!) Smokey Slate. Other: Ribbon, enamel dots, stickles.)

Doesn't this little guy put you in the holiday mood? I know... it's a little early for Christmas cards. But I don't like mass producing cards (I get bored...), so I make a few dozen different cards every year. Which means I have to start early!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Wplus9 | Monday Mood Board #21

This week's Wplus9 Monday Mood Board is another gorgeous inspiration photo.

I love the bold colors and the graphic feel to the photo. I trimmed cardstock into .5" x 5.5" strips, then adhered the strips to my card front. I die cut several flowers from Fresh Cut Florals, then stamped the matching flowers from the set in Papertrey Ink's Enchanted Evening, Spring Rain, Harvest Gold, Stampin' Up's Old Olive, and Memento Luxe Love Letter. The banner die is also from Wplus9 (Basic Banners).

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

CAS(E) This Sketch | Challenge #47

I have a quick card to share today for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:

I used a polka dot background stamp from Fresh Squeezed Stamps' You Said It, Sister, which I stamped in white pigment ink onto Kraft cardstock. The frame is Papertrey Ink's Fillable Frames #10, and the flowers are from Wplus9 (Fresh Cut Florals). I love the little pop of color they add to a white/kraft card.

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Fillable Frames #10, Mini Blooms. (Wplus9) Fresh Cut Florals. (Fresh Squeezed Stamps) You Said It, Sister. Ink: (PTI) White pigment ink, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Plum Pudding, Lavender Moon, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest. Dies: (PTI) Fillable Frames #10. (Wplus9) Fresh Cut Florals. Cardstock: (PTI) Kraft, White.)

Thanks for looking!

ColourQ | Challenge #208

Happy Friday, friends!

This week's ColourQ Challenge is to create a card using black + white and one color. I am a wee bit obsessed with aqua/teal right now, so I pulled out Papertrey Ink's Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores to accent the black and white color scheme

(Supplies - Stamps: (Wplus9) Fresh Cut Florals, Embroidered Bouquet. (PTI) Mini Blooms. Ink: (PTI) Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist. (Memento) Tuxedo Black. Cardstock: (PTI) White. Ribbon: (PTI) Hawaiian Shores Satin. Other: Enamel dots, stickles.)

Fresh Cut Florals is such a gorgeous set! I love the monochromatic look using Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores.

Evan has a soccer game bright and early tomorrow morning, so I am off to bed. Have a wonderful weekend!

ColourQ | Challenge #207

This week's color challenge for ColourQ is a beautiful collection of fall colors. I love navy with just about any other color, and the melon/pink combo is really striking:

This is the first time I've used Baked Brown Sugar (one of the new Stampin' Up! In Colors) and I am in love! To me, it is a darker Kraft color (and I stamped the inside of the basket with PTI's Kraft it and it was a great match).  The Baked Brown Sugar ink color is darker than the cardstock, but overall I'm really happy with it.

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Basket of Blessings, Autumn Pattern Pieces. (Wplus9) Fanciful Feathers. Cardstock: (PTI) Melon Berry, Rustic White. (Stampin' Up!) Baked Brown Sugar, Strawberry Slush. Ink: (PTI) Melon Berry, Kraft. (Stampin' Up!) Strawberry Slush, Night of Navy, Baked Brown Sugar. Dies: (PTI) First Place. Other: Buttons, enamel dots, twine.)

Basketful of Blessings is another beautiful PTI stamp set. Layering the flowers perfectly was a little tricky, but after I practiced a couple of times, it was a breeze.

That's it from me today! Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by. :)

ColourQ Challenge #202 | Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Monochromatic

Hi there! I hope everyone had a great week. My free mornings are quickly becoming a favorite part of my day... especially when I can spend an hour or two working on projects in my office.

First up is a card for this week's ColourQ challenge:

I pulled out a new set from Wplus9, Fanciful Feathers, and stamped them diagonally onto white cardstock. I trimmed the gray and yellow cardstock into strips, stamped the sentiment, then adhered them to my card and trimmed the edges. The buttons, from Papertrey Ink, were adhered last.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Wplus9) Fanciful Feathers. Ink: (Stampin' Up!) Smokey Slate, Daffodil Delight, Ruby Red. (Memento) Black. Cardstock: (PTI) Pure Poppy. (Stampin' Up!) Daffodil Delight, Smokey Slate. Buttons: (PTI) True Black.)

Up next I have a card for this week's Wednesday Challenge for Simon Says Stamps: Monochromatic. I wanted to create something using the new Mat Stack die and matching stamp set (Scrolling Script), and Waltzingmouse's Simple Sprig set. This is what I came up with:

Aren't the leaves and flowers gorgeous? I used two sizes of Mat Stack #7 and a Papertrey Ink's Bells and Boughs stamp set and die, plus a few pearls to finish off the card. The ink is Memento Luxe in Sweet Plum, Lilac Posies, and Rose Bud.

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Scrolling Script, Bells and Boughs. (Waltzingmouse) Simple Sprig. Ink: (Memento Luxe) Lilac Posies, Sweet Plum, and Rose Bud. Cardstock: (PTI) Lavender Moon, Royal Velvet, Plum Pudding, White. Patterned Paper: (PTI) Berry Sorbet patterns pack. Punch: Marvy Uchida. Dies: (PTI) Mat Stack #7, Bells and Boughs. Pearls: Hero Arts.)

I have one more card to share. I created this one last week for a ColourQ challenge but I didn't get it posted in time. The flowers are from Dawn McVey's Delightful Dahlia Additions set. It took some practice, but layering the flowers was easier than I expected and the results are beautiful! I used Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, and Enchanted Evening for each flower.

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Delightful Dahlia Additions. Ink: (PTI) Black, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening. Cardstock: (PTI) Blueberry Sky, Simply Chartreuse, Harvest Gold, White. Patterned Paper: (PTI) Spring Rain patterns pack. Dies: (PTI) Mat Stack #6, Ruby Rose (leaves). Felt: (PTI) Simply Chartreuse. Other: Buttons.)

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Wplus9 Monday Mood Board | Challenge #18

Today was the first day of school for my little ones, so I am writing this post sans children... and I must say, it's nice to have a quiet house! Both boys will be in school Monday-Friday this year, and I will have three whole hours of peace and quiet everyday, for the first time in 7+ years. I cleaned up the kitchen today and I was amazed... it stayed clean for three whole hours. A record in the Taylor house, for sure.

I also finished up a card this morning for this week's Monday Mood Board challenge. I am a wee bit obsessed with all things nautical at the moment and my Wplus9 release order arrived on Monday (yay!), so I created a nauti-cool (sorry, couldn't help myself) "Thanks" card:

The gold ink is a little hard to see in these photos, but the anchors at the top of the card & the flags at the bottom are stamped with Tsukineko's Brilliance Galaxy Gold Dew Drop ink. This ink adds a fabulous shine and really sparkles in person. The background cardstock is Wplus9's new Nautical Navy cardstock, and the little banners are from Stampin' Up's clear set called Settin' Sail.

Edited to add: I am also submitting this card for this week's Tuesday Trigger over at the Moxie Fab blog:

I also have a nautical "just because" card to share, also using Stampin' Up's Settin' Sail stamp set. This is the second time I have purchased photopolymer stamps from SU!, and I am very impressed with the quality (and the price!).

I did a quick search on Google Images for "sailboats" to get some inspiration for my card. I was instantly drawn to the swooping sails in varying colors and the beautiful curves of the boats. I wanted to create something similar for my card and I tried (unsuccessfully) to execute my vision using various bowls and plates and Pure Poppy cardstock, but I wasn't happy with the results. I had a "light bulb" moment when I glanced at my Silhouette Cameo and realized I have this amazing machine that will have no problem cutting out what I want. A few clicks in Silhouette Studio and I had a perfect shape for my card:

And I have to share a couple of back to school pictures of my kids. Evan started 2nd grade today, and Jack is in VPK. We had a relatively smooth morning and Jack was all smiles when I picked him up at noon. Ev will be home in a bit and I'm sure I'll get one word answers and a nod or two, but I hope he shares about his first day.

Evan - age 7

 Jack - age 4

I'll be back tomorrow with a CAS note card featuring Fresh Squeezed Stamps. Thanks for stopping by!
