ColourQ | Challenge #269

Hello there! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We spent the day with some dear friends of ours, enjoying a wonderful meal and watching the Seahawks game. I couldn't ask for a better way to spend the holiday.

On Wednesday, before spending the evening in the kitchen, I had a chance to create a card for this week's ColourQ challenge:

A few week's ago I purchased six of the Wplus9 die inks that were released awhile back. I love how they stamp, and I'm very pleased with the coverage, but they are definitely lighter than the ink pad lid shows. I thought the orange and green were a close match to the inspiration colors, but they are quite a bit lighter after the ink dries. My card isn't an exact match the the color swatch, but I'm still happy with how it turned out.

I created the chevron background using CAS-ual Fridays' Zigs & Zags stamp set and my stamp press. This little tool has been used a lot lately... it's perfect for lining up background stamps. The flowers and leaves are from Papertrey Ink's Friendly Flowers stamp set.

That's it for me today! I'll be back tomorrow with the next Retro Sketches challenge, and a card for inspiration. Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #134

I posted a sneak peek of this card on Instagram on Saturday, with the promise that the completed card would be on my blog yesterday. Well... that was before we made plans to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with some friends, then I had a coffee date with another friend, then dinner, then it was dark. Too dark to take decent pictures. Whoops! We picked up some Kenetic Sand for the boys at Michaels yesterday and they've been happily playing with it for the last two hours(!!), so I'm using the time to post here.

The CAS-ual Fridays challenge this week is a tic tac toe board.... 3 across, 3 down, or 3 diagonally. I am working diagonally with sequins, white, and dots.

Here is my card. The "dots" were stamped in Memento Luxe ink with Papertrey Ink's Polka Dot Basics 3 stamp set. The sequins are from my stash, and the white cardstock is Neenah Solar White. Other supplies - Twine: American Crafts. "Enjoy" die cut: (Papertrey Ink) Phrase Play #4. Plum cardstock: Stampin' Up!.

This Phrase Play die & stamp set is really fun to work with. I have a few more that I need to pull out and use... lots of possibilities with this collection!

That's it for me today. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #131

Is there anything better than getting new crafty stuff in the mail? My Studio Calico box arrived yesterday, full of Camelot kits, add-ons, embossing powder (yay for Last Call!), gray cardstock, white cardstock, and vellum! So many fun things to play with.

This month's card kit add-on, Morgan, has a super cute floral stamp set, matching dies, purple buttons, and gorgeous patterned paper. I used this kit almost exclusively for my card. The only embellishment that isn't part of this kit are the purple pearls from Hero Arts. They match the buttons perfectly in real life, but the flash of my camera made them a weird color in the photo. :)

I created my card for this week's Cas-ual Fridays challenge. The challenge is to use three elements on one-third of the card. I used four sets of three elements on one-third of the card: flowers, buttons, leaves, and pearls. That qualifies for brownie points, right? :)

I used my stacking ColorBox pigment ink for the flowers. These little cat eye ink queues are great for small stamps.

I will be back later tonight with the two layouts I created for National Scrapbooking Day. Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #128

Hi there! I hope everyone had a nice long weekend. I spent most of the weekend working on my project life album, and I'm happy to say that I'm *almost* all caught up. I really love this project, but I'm always behind! This year I'm trying to change that.

Anyway, I have a card for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: So Long. I used two stamp sets from Papertrey Ink (by designer Erin Lincoln) for my card: Background Basics: Diagonals and It's a Banner Day. I also used Mini Blooms.

I stamped the chevron pattern with Memento Luxe Angel Pink pigment ink, then stamped the flowers with Archival black ink. The chevron pattern soaks into the black ink and you can see it through the black flowers. The look is more subtle in person, but I think it's pretty cool.

The other part of this week's challenge is to create a card that isn't a standard A2 size. I trimmed my card down to 3.5 x 5.5 inches.

That's it for me tonight! Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

Paper Smooches Sparks | Anything Goes

Good morning!

This week's Paper Smooches Sparks challenge is Anything Goes!

I pulled out two new stamp sets and a new die set for my card: Just a Note, We Totally Click, and Toppers dies. The leaves, pink, and teal patterned paper are from American Crafts.

I am also entering my card in this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: Color Blocks.

Make sure to check out the rest of the DT's creations!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #125

Hi there! I have a CAS card for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: In a Word

I love my Stitches and Swirls stamp set and I was super excited to receive the new shadow companion set... both are versatile, beautiful stamp sets! For this card, I stamped the stitches stamps first, then layered over those images with shadow images in a lighter shade of pink. My "word" for this challenge is happy! I die cut the script "happy" from Papertrey Ink's One Liners: Happy die.

I am off to dinner with Mark... we are taking advantage of having my parents in town for one more night! Gotta love date night with free babysitting. :)

Have a great week!

RetroSketches | Challenge #87

** This is my second post of the day. Please scroll down or click here to view my release week card for Fresh Squeezed Stamps. **

This week's RetroSketches challenge is a very basic (but easily customizable!) sketch. I have a pack of aqua shimmer paper that I've been dying to use, and I paired it with a sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.

I colored the butterfly with a trio of Copic markers, then placed the die cut upside down in my 5 inch Xyron machine to apply adhesive to the top of the butterfly. I dumped on some glitter from Stampin' Up! to finish it off. It is very sparkly in real life! And I hate using liquid glue with glitter (more mess), and using the Xyron cuts down on the glitter explosion that usually happens on my desk when making a card like this. I thread a button and used a medium sized glue dot to adhere it on top of the glittered butterfly.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Hero Arts) Antique Flowers and Butterflies. (CAS-ual Fridays) Beanstalks. (Papertrey Ink) Background Basics: Twinkle. Ink (Memento) Black (PTI) Aqua Mist. Cardstock: (PTI) Aqua Mist, Rust White, Shimmer Aqua. Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye. Glitter: Stampin' Up!. Button: (PTI) Aqua Mist.)

That's it for me today! Check back tomorrow for another new release card for Fresh Squeezed Stamps. Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #115

I have a weakness for fall stamps (especially leaves and trees!), and I picked up this great leaf stamp set from Stampin' Up! last week. It's called Wonderfall and has several large leaf images and an adorable acorn, too. I used the maple leaf for my CAS-ual Fridays card, stamping it with Papertrey Ink's Orange Zest ink, then I inked the edges with Terracotta Tile.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Stampin' Up!) Wonderfall. (PTI) Gobble, Gobble. Ink: (PTI) Orange Zest, Terracotta Tile, Dark Chocolate. Cardstock: (PTI) Harvest Gold, Orange Zest, Real Red, Kraft, White. Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye.)

Expect to see several fall/Thanksgiving cards in the coming weeks. We might not get a traditional fall here in Florida, but it's still my favorite season.

I'm off to finish watching the Seahawks game. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #112

Hi friends! I hope everyone had a restful weekend. I am feeling so much better after spending the last 48 hours on the couch, watching pre-season football and making sure Evan didn't take out my new framed anchor print with his Nerf football. I'm not sure my house is going to survive this kid... he is an accident waiting to happen. :)

I have a new card to share for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: Aqua, Green, and Orange. I adore this color combo and was anxious to pull out a few new sets from Waltzingmouse for the challenge: Two Step Floral Sprig, Big Day - Today, and the Pinstripe mini background. And I used my Silhouette to cut out the leaves (available from Waltzingmouse), and I am delighted with the results. Very crisp and clean cuts, making the whole card come together quickly. I upgraded my Silhouette so I can cut SVG files and I am so glad I did. That little machine is awesome!

(Supplies - Stamps: (Waltzingmouse) Two Step Floral Sprig, Big Day - Today, and the Pinstripe mini background. Ink: (PTI) Aqua Mist, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Orange Zest, Terracotta Tile, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Black. Cardstock: (PTI) Orange Zest, White. Other: pearls, stickles.)

The latest Waltzingmouse release was one of my favorites... so many beautiful sets! Flowers & nautical themed... two of my favorite things!

That is it for me tonight. Have a great week!

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #111

Hey there!

I am playing along with the CAS-ual Fridays weekly challenge today, using a beautiful stamp set from Technique Tuesday (Green House Society - Stems).

Aren't the flowers lovely? And I really like the sentiment, which is actually three separate stamps (love that!). The background stamp is Papertrey Ink's Background Basics: Herringbone.

The challenge says "buttons", but I'm hoping one button will qualify. When I was creating my card I needed something to unify the right and left side. A threaded button worked perfectly!

That's it for me today! Have a wonderful week and thanks for stopping by.

Monday Mood Board #14 + CAS-ual Fridays | Mapquest

Hey there! I have quite a few behind-the-scenes projects in the works, which is why my poor blog has been neglected the past few days. But all good things! And I'm preparing for our trip to Washington next week... flying 3,000 miles with the kids (and no husband!). I'm already having a panic attack just thinking about it!

I have a few cards to share today. First up is a card for this week's Wplus9 Monday Mood Board:

I used Wplus9's cute new Sweets & Treats stamp set for the pedestal, cupcake, and cake topper. The sentiment is also from Wplus9 (Strictly Sentiments 2).

(Supplies - Stamps: (Wplus9) Strictly Sentiments 2, Sweets and Treats. Ink: (Memento) Tuxedo Black. (Fresh Ink) Slate, Pink Lemonade, Chamomile. Markers: Copic. Doily: Stampin' Up! Patterned Paper: Echo Park 6x6 pad, (PTI) Harvest Gold Patterns Pack.. Cardstock: (PTI) Sweet Blush, Blush. Dies: (PTI) Doily Details Die. (Wplus9) Sweets and Treats. Other: Ribbon, buttons.)

This week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge is right up my alley: MapQuest! We live so far from our family (and a lot of friends), and I like making "wish you were here" cards for them.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Mama Elephant) Geotagged. (Stampin' Up!). Ink: (Fresh Ink) Slate. (PTI) Pure Poppy, True Black. Die: (Simon Says) small heart. Cardstock: (PTI) white, Smokey Shadow. Other: gems.)

I LOVE the map from Mama Elephant's Geotagged set. It is the perfect size and the distressed look works for a lot of different projects.

My final card combines several different stamp sets and manufacturers... and I created it "just because". No challenges! The milk jug stamps from Wplus9's Milk & Cookies set also doubles as a lemonade bottle, and I really wanted to create a picnic scene with it. I used PTI's Honey Bees, Little Lady (polka dots) & Comfort Food sets, and a sentiment from Wplus9's Strictly Sentiments 1.

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Honey Bees, Little Lady, Comfort Food. (Wplus9) Milk & Cookies, Strictly Sentiments 1, Sweets and Treats. Ink: (Fresh) Chamomile, Celery. (PTI) Enchanted Evening. (Memento) Tuxedo Black. (Ranger) Archival Jet Black. Markers: Copic. Patterned Paper: (Crate Paper) The Pier. (PTI) Pre Poppy Patterns Pack. Dies: (PIT) Sketches Shapes, Comfort Food. (Wplus9) Milk & Cookies. Impression plate: (PTI) Linen and Canvas.)

This card makes me ridiculously happy. I love how all the elements combine to make a cute scene.

The flower on the green bowl is from Sweets and Treats. I did some masking using a sticky note so the flower appeared to be a decoration on the bowl, and after a couple of (poor) attempts, I finally got a look I like. After I stamped the flower with Memento ink, I colored it in with Copic markers.

That's it from me tonight! I'll be back tomorrow with quite a few new layouts I've completed for Pixels & Co., Karla Dudley Designs, and Scotty Girl Designs. Have a great night!

Erin.

CAS-ual Fridays | Red, White, and Blue Challenge

This week's challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is to use Red, White, and Blue. I did a little searching on Pinterest for inspiration, and found a beautiful star pendant that I used as a starting off point for my card.

(Supplies - Stamp: (Mama Elephant) On Target. Cardstock: (Papertrey Ink) Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy, White, silver shimmer. Ink: (Papertrey Ink) Enchanted Ink. Die: (Papertrey Ink) Seeing Stars, Star Gazer dies. Other: Gems.)

The pack of gems I picked up from Michaels has both clear and frosted gems, and I used both on this card, alternating the two. The tiny star dies are new from Papertrey Ink: Star Gazer die collection. They are so tiny, but I love the subtle detail they add when used with silver shimmer paper.

Check back tomorrow for a new card using Great Impressions Stamps. I pulled out my Copic markers for a spring birthday card. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Great Impressions Stamps | Happy Balloons

Good morning! This week I wanted to challenge myself to create a card using this stamp, but without Copic markers. I wanted to use a few different ink colors and create a fun patterned background:

(Supplies - Stamps: (Great Impressions) Flying By. Ink: (Hero Arts) Soft Cantaloupe, Pale Tomato, Bubble Gum. Cardstock: (PTI) White, Melon Berry. Stickers: BasicGray. Other: Button, twine.)

I used an acrylic block with a grid to line up the stamp, and I alternated the three colors so the pattern was even. I popped up the white panel so the button fits nicely behind it.

I am entering this card in this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: Birthday Bash.

... and I'm just noticing that I forgot to add the dot above the "i"! I will fix that before I mail it out. :)

Have a great week!

CAS-ual Fridays | Chipboard Challenge

Hey there! This week's CAS-ual Friday's challenge is to use chipboard, so I pulled out some Studio Calico chipboard speech bubbles for my card:

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Star Prints, (Studio Calico). Ink: (Hero Arts) Soft Pool, Soft Cantaloupe, Pale Tomato. (Archival) Jet Black. Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye. Chipboard Speech Bubble: Studio Calico. Twine: Papertrey Ink).

I have been using my Hero Arts Chalk Inks a lot lately and I really like the results. Soft and muted, but the images are clear and really beautiful. And the "Hello There" sentiment is one of my favorites from Studio Calico.

I am also entering this card in the Moxie Fab: Speech Bubble Challenge.

I received a big Papertrey Ink order today (a little birthday present to myself!) and I can't wait to play with my new supplies. Have a good night!

CAS-ual Fridays | Round of Applause

Hey everyone! I hope you guys are having a great weekend.

This week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge is Round of Applause: CAS cards that celebrates an accomplishment, and feature at least one circle.

I used Papertrey Ink's Party Popper stamp set and a fun color combo of Limeade Ice, Aqua Mist, Enchanted Evening, Archival Ink's Viridian, and Orange Zest. I accented the poppers with my Spica glitter pen and a few gems/pearls.

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Party Poppers, Fillable Frames #3. Ink: (PTI) Limeade Ice, Enchanted Evening, Orange Zest. (Archival Ink) Viridian. Cardstock: (PTI) White, Aqua Mist, Limeade Ice. Dies: (PTI) Party Poppers. Other: gems, pearls Spica glitter pen.)

Party Poppers has moved to the top of my "most used" list... it is so cute and versatile!

And I want to thank the team at CAS-ual Fridays for the VIP shout out last week... you guys made my day!

Thanks for stopping by! :-)

CAS-ual Fridays | Thank You Card Challenge

Hi there! This week's CAS-ual Fridays Challenge is to create a clean and simple Thank You card.

Here is my take:

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Fillable Frames #1. Ink: (PTI) Enchanted Evening. Gems: Hero Arts. Other: Various cardstock from Stampin' Up!, Papertrey Ink, and Avery Elle.)

I wanted a wide range of cardstock colors... all bright and fun, but not monochromatic or a specific color family. I sorted through my scraps bin until I found 7 colors that complimented each other, then trimmed the cardstock into 1/2 inch strips before adhering them at an angle to a sheet of 4 in x 1/2 in white cardstock. The result is an arrow that points from left to right!

I'll be back soon with two more cards!

ColourQ | Challenge #166

I have one more card to share today, this one for ColourQ's Challenge #166. I pulled out Wplus9's Folk Art Flurries (again!) and four shades of blue:

I don't have Cool Caribbean, so I substituted Stampin' Up's Pool Party ink + paper.

I also pulled out Papertrey Ink's Framed stamp set for the first time. When this set was released last year, I fell in love with it and purchased it right away. But I have had the hardest time using it! It just never worked the way I wanted it to. I am so happy it worked for this card! I used an acrylic block with a grid on it to line up the rectangle + sentiment, and used Midnight Muse ink. The background cardstock is Bazzill's Swiss Dot, which matches the Midnight Muse ink perfectly:

(Supplies - Stamps: (Wplus9) Folk Art Flurries, (PTI) Framed, Peaceful Pinecones. Ink: (Stampin' Up1) Midnight Muse, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party. Cardstock: (Stampin' Up!) Pool Party, Whisper White. (Bazzill) Blue Swiss Dot. Other: White ribbon, white pearls.)

More beautiful snowflakes & a lovely color combo. I love making Christmas/holiday cards!

I am also entering this card in CAS-ual Fridays Knotty or Nice challenge

See you next week!

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger | Shimmer & Shine

I am completely in love with snowflakes this holiday season, especially gorgeous (and detailed) snowflake stamps! My favorites this year are Wplus9's Folk Art Flurries, Papertrey Ink's Snowflake Medley stamps & dies and Winter Penguin, and Hero Arts' Christmas Reindeer. When I saw this week's Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger inspiration photograph, I immediately thought of using PTI's Snowflake Medley die + silver embossing powder. I also love the cream and silver color combo from the photo. I added Papertrey Ink's Sweet Blush to my card for a little bit of color.

Here is this week's inspiration photograph:

Here is my take:

(Supplies - Cardstock: (PTI) Vintage Cream, Sweet Blush. Stamps: (PTI) Stylish Sentiments: Holiday. (Wplus) Folk Art Flurries. Ink: (PTI) True Black. Versamark. Impression Plate: (PTI) Peace Be Still. Patterned Paper: (PTI) Soft Stone Patterns Pack. Glitter: Martha Stewart. Chipboard: (Wplus9) Wafer Board. Other: silver embossing powder, button, ribbon.)

I cut the snowflake die out of Wplus9's Natural Wafer Board and embossed it 4 times with silver embossing powder, letting each layer cool completely before applying another layer. The smaller snowflake was also cut out with wafer board + vintage cream cardstock. I smeared clear glue all over the cream piece and applied white Martha Steward glitter all over it. I let it dry completely before adhering it to the silver embossed snowflake, and adhering a button on top. A sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Stylish Sentiments: Holiday finishes off the card nicely!

I am also entering my card in this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: Knotty or Nice.

Thanks for stopping by!

Great Impressions Stamps | Glitter Pine Cone

Good morning!

This week I'm sharing a project using a fantastic pine cone stamp from Great Impressions Stamps. It is a small stamp, only 1.5 x 1.25 inches, which is why I used it to create an adorable tag!

I did some selective inking to create the green sprig & the brown pine cone. The berries I colored with Copic markers, then added stickles on top.

(Supplies - Stamp: (Great Impressions Stamps) Pine Cone Sprig. Cardstock: (PTI) Ripe Avocado, Scarlet Jewel, White. Ink: (PTI) Ripe Avocado, Dark Chocolate. Die: (PTI) Tag Sale #1, Limitless Layers 1.5" Circles. Ribbon: Ribbon Carousel. Other: Copics, Stickles.)

I will add a "to" and "from" stamp to the back so I can attach it to a present.

I am also entering this card in this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge: Gift Tags!

That's it for me this week! Thank you for stopping by & I will see you next week with another post for Great Impressions Stamps.

CAS-ual Fridays | Challenge #77

Hey guys! I am playing along with CAS-ual Fridays challenge this week to make a masculine card.

I can always use birthday cards for my sons' friends, so I pulled out Papertrey Ink's Truckin' It mini stamp set for a fast (and cute!) birthday card.

(Supplies - Stamps: (PTI) Truckin' It, Banner Builder. Ink: (Memento) Black, (Stampin' Up!) Midnight Muse. Dies: (PTI) Truckin' It, Banner Builder, Double Ended Banner, Fabulous Frames. Cardstock: (PTI) Blueberry Sky, Lemon Tart, Pure Poppy. (Stampin' Up!) Basic Gray. Impression plate: (PTI) Linen and Canvas. Other: Gems, buttons, Copic markers.)

I just can't get enough of these cute little trucks... aren't they adorable?!?

Have a great week!

Erin.
