~Sand Dune Trip~

This fall we took a family trip to the sand dunes!!
The kids had a blast playing in the sand!!

Eric had fun racing all of his brothers and friends!  See the gray shirt on the top?  Yep, that's him!

Hahaha!  This picture cracks me up!!
My honey!!

This picture reminds me of a story that Kaiden told me......  Do you know how the sand dunes were made???  Well Kaiden does.  He told me that a very long time ago their were giant people living on the earth.  And one day one of the giant kids took off his shoe and dumped out the sand and that is how the sand dunes were made!!  HEHEHE!  He honestly argued with me for about a half an hour about the story being true!!  FUNNY!
Eric jumping!!
This has to be one of the cutest things ever!!

Kaiden's turn!!!
Keira's turn!!!
Kelsey kept to the four wheeler.  Eric scared her pretty good last time we came to the dunes.  She didn't want anything to do with his bike!!
After we were done on the sand we went and played in the water!!

It's not very deep.  As you can see!  You could probably walk across the entire pond.

Kaiden thought it would be fun to kick water on his dad!!
You better watch out!!!  When you kick water on your dad!!

This is what happens!!

He kept a safe distance after that!
What a fun and great couple of days!!

The sunsets on the way home were amazing!!  I wish I was better at taking pictures because these pictures don't do it justice.

~Field Trip~

Kaiden's 3rd grade class went on a really fun field trip last month. Kaiden claims that it is on of the funnest field trips he has been on. I was impressed that he liked it that much. I was really worried that he was going to think it was boring but we both ended up having a lot of fun.

Our first stop was the county court house. They had a lady there that talked to the kids for a little bit about what happens in a court house and how a trial is done. Then they had the kids act out a trial. They even got to go sit in the witness booth and decide if one of the kids had broke the law because he was driving too fast. They thought it was pretty cool.

Then they took us into the jail. UGG!! Jails creep me out. I am not sure why but just the thought of having to sit in a jail cell just makes my skin crawl. But the kids loved it. They even locked all of the kids in the cell for a bit. Kaiden thought that was really cool. Then they brought out the hand cuffs. I am pretty sure that I have never told you how much hand cuffs bother me. I honestly think I have a phobia of hand cuffs. And I am not sure why. I remember being a little girl and watching the TV show COPS. Every time the cops would put hand cuffs on someone it would make me feel so sick to my stomach. I promised myself way back then that I would never do something that would make me have to wear hand cuffs....so far so good!!! HAHAHA!! But seriously, when they brought out the hand cuffs my stomach was seriously sick. Then they hand cuffed one kid to a bar...(the horror)... Oh, I was so glad to get out of that room!!!!
Then we headed to the dispatch room. This is where all of the officers call into when they pull you over or if you call 911. The kids got to see how things worked in there and the nice little lady that works there told them some stories about a couple of 911 calls that came in. One was about one of the kids in Kaiden's class who called when his sister got kicked by a horse. The kids thought that was awesome!!
The next stop was the hospital. They took us into a room where a lady taught the kids about the importance of washing their hands good. She had them put on this lotiony stuff that under a black light made their hands look dirty. Then she sent the to wash their hands and come back to the black light to check how clean their hands were.
Here is Kaiden's "dirty hands" (if they are dirty they look really whitish blue)
Then he washed
And they were still dirty
So he washed again
Ummmm....and again
And still. He couldn't get them totally clean.
I am convinced that they would never be able to get all of that lotiony stuff off.

Then they talked to us about sugars and fats....I am sorry nice little hospital lady but the kids really didn't care too much. And I am pretty sure that no matter what you tell them they are still going to drink that Sprite and eat the Kitkat even if it is not healthy for them.
Then they talked about our bodies and how we need to take care of our bones. Then they used an ultrasound machine to look at arteries and veins on one of the nurses. The kids really liked that!
Then we headed to the library. (I tell ya, this was one heck of a field trip) They told the kids some really cute Halloween stories and then played a Halloween bingo game. The kids loved it.
After we left the library we went to the ranger station. They did a little video for the kids and then talked to them about being safe in the outdoors. Oh, you should have heard some of the stories that the kids told about camping, bears, hiking and even hunting. Some of the stories, I don't think the people at the ranger station were too impressed with nor would they condone. Hahaha!!
And last but not least....we went to the fire department. Oh man, this was Kaiden's favorite part.
They took us into a simulated "smoke room". The kids liked it. I didn't.
They showed the kids how the Jaws of Life work. I really hope that we never have to see them in an emergency situation!!!

And then best of all....we all climbed up on top of a fire truck and took a ride around town! I have never done that before and thought it was pretty cool!!!

I think Kaiden did too.
What do you think?
Then it was time to head back to the school. It was a long but very fun day! And the best part of it all was that I got to spend the whole day with Kaiden. He really is a great kid and I am so proud of him. Thanks for letting me tag along buddy!!!!!
