Black Red Beauty & Candy Reminder

The challenge on Magnolia vs Stampavie is a color challenge....Red, Black White and Grey. At first I really was unhappy doing this challenge but in the end I really like this card. The DP are from My Mind's Eye. The dots were actually all white so I took my fine tip marker and added a black circle inside each white circle. I really like how this added that punch to the design. I also used Spellbinder's Doodle die in both red and black to embellish the card. The red flower is a Prima flower and the black flower was made using a Marvy punch with a black brad holding it all together.
I used my Black Soot Distress ink and the Fired Brick Distress inks to color the clothing. I used my water painter pen to add the distress inks. This is my first time coloring with distress inks so any hints on how to color with them would be appreciated. I made the bow using sheer simmer ribbon.

The inside shows the other DP much better. The sentiment would have to be added with white ink. I wanted to remind all readers that I will be drawing for the blog candy on April 1st so make sure you have left a comment Here . Have a wonderful day. Our day is full of snow again! Can you imagine....school was cancelled again today and we are in the middle of a huge Winter storm.

Gifts and Magnolia vs Stampavie

I had a wonderful day today but I will explain that later. Here is the card I made following the sketch on Magnolia vs Stampavie. The sketch is great except my mojo was not clicking in last evening. All my Magnolias seemed too large and then when I began coloring I just was not happy. I have read about people not having the mojo working for them and I think I caught it as well. But, I received the cure today. After taking my son to work, finding out from the Doctor that I either have to go to a sturdier cane or start using my walker again. Not a good day to hear this but at least its not time for the wheel chair yet. So of course I head to Michael's to make myself feel better and spent way to much $. No one will say a thing at home because they know I "Hate" my walker or correctly called my rollaider. But again, I repeat...not a wheel chair. When I got home with all my purchases I have a parcel waiting for me. I am so excited! I won all this from Kimmie at Kimmies Kraftin Korner. I too two photos to show it all.

These are all the embellishments and toys to play with including stickles and brads and flowers...fun goodies.
Look at all the stamps I received! There are some Paper Pretties, Imaginisce, scrapmagasinet and one Daisy Bucket. I can hardly wait to go play with all this stuff. So.....
Bye for now. All these goodies are calling me and I need to play. Talk later.

Magnolia Vs Stampavie Challenge 15

The challenge this week at Magnolia vs Stampavie is a sketch challenge. I used this sketch to make this card. I used papers from Provo Craft and I love the colors. I think it is so great when you can use such coordinated papers.

I wanted to show how I had used the sketch to create a different opening. I used a closure from my hodgepodge kid from SU to keep it closed. I also used some pearls on the corners of the front flap for embellishment.
I colored this wonderful Magnolia image using my PS colored markers and added some highlights with the Inkessential white pen and my colored pencils. I used my markers to create a light blue haze around the image.
On the inside I used this sentiment from Stampendous to maintain the sketch. The flower is from Prisma with a large SU brad.
I am going to post again tonight so off to do some work around the house...otherwise my family may disown me.

Magnolia Vs Stampavie Challenge #14

Today's challenge on Magnolia vs Stampavie was a color challenge. You were to use
  • Old Olive
  • Nearly Navy
  • Chocolate Chip
  • Bashful Blue and you were allowed to use flesh color on the image.

Well here is what I came up with and I only used the correct colors.

The papers are from Stampin Up 2007 and scraps but I think they are a close match to the colors.

When you look at the image closely it does not appear to be the colors, what I did was to use a waterpen and the ink pads. I colored the shirt bashful blue and added depth is the nearly navy. I did the color first in old olive and then in nearly navy. The problem was that I did not use watercolor paper. I used Whisper White and it soaked in without spreading. I decided to keep going and this is how it ended. I plan on doing the image on water color paper and switching the images if it looks better; at least it will be fun to compare.

I used the ends of the papers on the front and a new sheet of a paper I won in a blog candy. The match was perfect but I do not know who puts out the paper...love it though.

I did something stupid again today....I fell again. This time it was inside the house and I hit my desk on the way down. I am bruised and sore again. I am beginning to think that falling is becoming a habit. Maybe I am reverting back to childhood and learning how to walk will next.
Talk later...(before I fall again)

Eat cookies, Rest and Feel Better

The Magnolia vs Stampavie Challenge this week is a Color Challenge. You are to use Pretty in Pink, Sage Shadow, Close to Cocoa and Whisper White. So this is the card I made for this challenge. The pink paper is from the $ store...can you believe it! It is 100% cotton paper...not very strong but certainly beautiful. The sage is from DCWV Metallic stack. Very strong. The brown is Close to Cocoa from SU.

I used Prismacolored Markers and Pencil to color Sleepy Tilda. I highlighted with Inkadinkado Opaque white and a Spica Pen.
I used the oval and scalloped oval nestibilities but I did not embossed the edges. The butterflies are done with the Martha Stewart punch.
I wrote the sentiment on the whisper white paper with a spica pen...eat some candy...get some sleep...feel better... . I hope this makes my grand niece feel better about her hospital stay. Guess I should be sending her cookies as well but I`m not sure how great they would mail.

On the inside, I used a Martha Stewart punch for the close to cocoa and used a stamp that states I love you inside the heart.
The boys are on their way to a hockey game so I will have to get supper early. Guess its time for me to sign off now.
Hugs till later.

Children are Love made Visisble

A friend had a grandson born recently so I made this framed welcome for the baby. I absolutely love the and believe the sentiment I used. As a mother of teenager, sometimes it is difficult to remember this, but I always tried to tell all my colleagues in teaching that every child is someone`s baby. So, the sentiment works for me. I used Magnolias boy stamps. I find it hard to find stamps suitable for boys but here are two. I colored them with Prismacolored Pencils and OMS. I really do love the way you can blend and shade with these pencils.
I used the heart nestibility for a name tag and of course the JustRite rectangular stamper with the Brampton font. I used Hunter Green and Ballet Blue for the ink. The edges were distressed with Close to Cocoa.
I used Gold Detail to emboss the butterflies and colored them with Twinkling H2Os. The Magnolis vs Stampavie Challenge this week is to use a bow so I placed mine outside on the frame. I attached it with Zots and used the Martha Stewart Butterfly punch to hide the spots where the tales were attached to the frame.
Stamps: Magnolia Edwin, Inkadinkado Butterflies
Paper: Pocket Full of Posies from DCVW
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Heart Nestibility, MS Butterfly punch, $store frame, MS ribbon, Gold Detail embossing powder

Be the Change

The challenge on Magnolia vs Stampavie is to create something other than a card. I used one of my favorite frames from that quality shop for all crafters....the $ store. My DH needs a gift for one of his colleagues so this is my first attempt. My only fear is that maybe it is too young. Anyhow, this is what I made today.

Of course I used a Magnolia stamp, actually two of them. I colored using Prisma colored Markers and pencils. I am still learning with these markers....I haven`t figured out how to fade into another color like you can with the crayons. Again, I have the coat colored purple in memory of my favorite piece of clothing I have ever loved. I used stickles on the buttons for some glitz.

The quote is an inkadinkado stamp and I really love this quote from Ghandi. I used the rectangular nestibility and used gold ink on the edges. You can also see some of the stickles I added to the BG paper from Basic Grey.

I used the SU stamp set called Feathered Hope for these sweet birds. I love this stamp set which I have borrowed from my Demo. I placed them on the ribbon that went around the panel. I made the flower by cutting out 3 sizes of flowers on the Cricut and then stamped with versamark and used Perfect Pearls on the image. I them used a white pen to doodle on the flowers. They look lovely....bit of blue, purple and even some green on nearly navy paper. I used a glass flower from....you know where....yes you are right....the $store.

I have another page of my Yorkie Mini Album done so maybe I`ll post again tonight...who knows what my family has planned for me. I would love to say they want me to relax in front of the fire but I don`t think that will happen.

Talk soon. Hugs

Magnolia Vs Stampavie Challenge

I am so happy... I finally got to play with my stamps! Between Christmas, taking down decorations, setting up new stamping space and everybody home for winter break, I have not made a card for ages. I sat in my new area and played and played. My stamping area is not quite ready for photos but it is set up...just not tidy or decorated.

Today I took the challenge on Magnolia Vs Stampavie challenge #8...a sketch challenge. I used one of the Edwin stamps that Bea sent to me and he is just so cute. Imagine a great skiing day with your favorite little boy. I stamped Edwin with Versafine onyx black and colored using Prismacolored Markers. I used an Inkadinkado Opaque Pen for highlighting. I am still practising with the markers...it is a totally different way to color from pencils.I used 2 Prisma flowers and one I made using the 3 flower punch from SU. I love the papers I used. They are Basic Grey and they are wonderful. I have always love that shade between blue and green...so many shades of Aqua...love it. I used the largest rectangle and scalloped rectangle on the main image and attached the two other main sheets after using the Martha Stewart lace edge punch. I used hunter green (SU) ink for distressing. The ribbon is from a Martha Stewart project frame kit I purchased at Micheals for 75% off.

On the inside I used a CB die to trim the inside of this Thank You Card.

Its great to be able to post on a regular basis again. I missed posting and reading emails but as soon as I sat down to work the family felt obligated to `do`something with me. It was a fantastic break but I needed my time back.

I`m falling asleep typing this so I guess that`s my clue to have a little nap.

Talk later Hugs
