Just Magnolia Altered Tin

As promised a couple of photos of my graduating son and his girlfriend at their prom. I noticed I put in the uncropped version but isn't set up great. His girlfriend set up this swing for the photos. To night is the exercises and then life will go into Summer mode.

The challenge at Just Magnolia is to alerter a box, bag or can. This is a can that used to hold Prima flowers. I am using it as a gift box holding a grad gift for one of the girls.

I love this stamp of Tilda picking flowers. The butterfly was included in another stamp I order from Pheobe at the Town Scrapper...my source for Magnolias. I colored Tilda with my Prismacolored pencils, I did use the light peach marker for the flesh though. I embellished the flowers with stickles and used the butterflies and half pearls on the top edge.

I embellished the outside bottom with DP and them added ribbon with silver edges. I added doves made with the MS bird punch. I made the bow with my bow easy.

This last photo show the layering of the flowers. I love the colors and the stacking of the Prima flowers.
This is the first tin I have ever altered and I am really pleased with it. Now to find more tins. Off to the Graduation Exercises. Talk later.

Its Your Day

I made this card to give to my son's date for the Prom. I wanted to have something she could save with her photos since she is such a great girl. I can submit this card for both the Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge and the Stamp with Fun Challenge. The Spoon full of Sugar challenge is to make a card to celebrate something so I choose to celebrate graduation.

I used my Prismacolored Markers to color these images and attached them using dimensional dots to this DCWV Far East stack paper. I also used the Metallic Textured paper by DCWV as the BG. I used my heidi Swapp Edge Distresser to create the shabby vintage look for the Stamp with Fun challenge. I then used the Worn Lipstick distress ink and Gold ink to highlight the edges. The butterflies were made using the Martha Stewart butterfly punch. The sentiment stamp is from the $1 bin at Michaels. I embossed it with a mixture of Garnet and Tinsel Gold powder.
I left the inside plain to write a "perfect" note to the date. I have to rush off and do a "small" bit of housework to say I did some...HaHa. Talk later.

Stamp with Fun Dreams

This week the challenge on Stamp with Fun is to make a 4 x 8 inch card and this is what I created. I used the remainder of the scraps from yesterday's post and my new Labels 3 and 4 nestibility.
I colored Tilda with my markers and used stickles on the wings and her eyes. This image reminds me so much of my sister. She had long braided auburn hair and was such a dreamer. She would have gotten a kick out of this card because I always called her a dreamer.

I used the smaller dies from Label 4 and hand write the sentiment. I added the half pearls and stitckles on the prima flowers. I used Martha Stewart's oak leaf pun for the leaves.

On the inside I used both sizes of the Marvy punch to create the flowers. I was thinking of sending this to a university student who is writing her thesis now....just reminds my of my studying time at university....many dream breaks.
Well it is 5 am and I finally think I could go to sleep. My boys were all at a going away party for a friend and I can't go to sleep until they are all home. Unfortunately, time means nothing to them. By the time the last one came in I had my second wind which at this moment is running out sooooo...time for a short nap.

Cute Card Thursday Post Pals

This week the challenge at Cute Cards Thursday is to make Happy Mail. They included the idea of making cards for PostPals. I decided to make 2 cards and send them off.
So I used this Magnolia and used the circle scalloped nestibilities. I colored her in Prismacolored Markers. I love the cute bow I made. I attached it with Zots mini dots. The papers are My Mind's Eye and I think are so happy.

On the inside I used label 1 nestibilities.

For my second card I used this Stampandous Peanuts stamp. I colored it with markers and cut it out with my curvy rectangle nestibility. The ribbon is running through a die cut from cuttlebug and the Puppy love sentiment is from Cloud Nine. Again the papers are from My Mind's Eye and the ribbon is from Michaels...Creative Satin.

On the inside I used another Cloud Nine stamp as well as this Inkadinkado stamp. I colored in the sentiment image with spica pens.
Go check out this site through Cute Card Thursday...it will make you feel better. Such a rainy and cold day here so this warms me up a bit. Not much other news so talk later.

The End and Beginning

Oh, I love the sketch found on Fridays Sketchers...it is a really cool one. Gotta love that curve at the bottom. This long narrow card fits lovely in a business envelope and I just happen to have some Pink ones. Too cool eh.
I colored with Prismacolored Markers and used the yellow, green and pink spica pens to highlight. They add such a twinkle to a card. The flower on the top right was made using ones I won in blog candy and they are plastic! They look really great...they have a mirror effect and look great in reality. The flowers on the left are made using with a Marvy punch.
I used my Harmony Rectangle stamper and Brampton 25 and 50 pt letters to make my sentiments. After stamping and cutting I layered them on the base card paper and attached them with foam dots. The DP is all from DCWV.

I continued the sentiment on the inside. I am so happy with this card. I wanted to acknowledge the sadness of leaving school and all the friends and the excitement of starting on a new journey. I am pleased with this card and hope you like it as well. Have a great weekend.

Fishing for a Diploma!

I followed the sketch on Friday Sketches to do this Grad card. I need about 15 male grad cards and I think this is a great image to use...fishing for a diploma! I cut out the fish from scraps and hope people will catch on that they are fish. I embossed the Happy Graduation (Rubber Stampede) with Marcasite powder and then used the Crimson Red marker.
The image is a Magnolia...Edwin fishing and the diploma is from a Cuttlebug die. The cap at the top is actually a sticker that I attached to the scalloped circle (SU punch) of the DP. All the papers are from My Mind's Eye. I colored the image with my Prismacolored Markers and I love how the jeans turned out. I used Indigo Blue and then used a blender pen to create the faded sections.

Just a strip of the DP and the second largest long rectangle nestie on the inside for a personal note.
This is one of my first stamps...no label. I embossed it as well and used the bronze and black markers.
I think this will make a great male grad card. It is so hard to make male cards especially for High School aged boys who have grown up in front of you. My how those boys have turned into young adults.
Must go and watch DH outside raking those dead winter soggy leaves. Talk later.

Imagine It Dream It Become It

I have not shown this card to my son who is graduating since he will not approve of the Pinkness of this card. I made it following the Just Magnolia Challenge call for Pink and Green. So let's just keep this one a secret!

I love these stamps...it allows me to match the graduates. My youngest son is graduating and this card represents him and one of his closest "girl friends" who is very blond and loves green. This card will work for her.

I colored using the Prismacolored Markers. I added the diplomas and hats from the graduate Cuttlebug die. I love this die....all kinds of small images. I ran the pieces through my xyron before attaching them. I used the label 1 nestiblity and distressed the edges with tattered rose and peeled paint. The hats are grad hats and SU mini brads.

On the inside I made two pockets to hold the tag and a gift card on the other side.
This sentiment is from stampendous and I think it is absolutely perfect for grad cards. The weather is so great here today so I have to run off and enjoy it.

My Goal in Life

I love this Tilda...she is so shy but thoughtful looking. I chose her to be my thinking Tilda. I am thinking of graduation cards but this is just a thinking of you card.
I painted with Twinkling H2Os using a waterbrush. The colors I used are:
dress and socks: Guatemalan Green and Mystic Blue
blouse: Pink grapefruit
Wings: Pewter
Hair: Nutmeg
This is not my usual style leaving it so faded but I rather like it. I also have never used a hat pin on a card before. This is made from the SU Pretties Kit as is the flower and the half pearls. The ribbon is Sheer Creations from Michaels.
The papers are from My Mind's Eye and DCWV Asian Slab. The papers have created a lovely soft BG for the image and the sentiment. This is the perfect sentiment from our home of 5 dogs. Love the sentiment which is from Cloud 9.
I used the corner punch from SU to create a little uniqueness and I really like the effect. We are expecting perfect weather this weekend....22 C tomorrow and 26C on Sunday. I plan on spending oodles of time outside so you probably will not hear from me till Monday. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your life.

Just Magnolia Challenge #1

A new challenge blog just started today. It is Just Magnolia found at
http://justmagnolia.blogspot.com/. It is a fun place and for this first challenge it is a sketch challenge with a prize for one lucky player. And boy is it a prize. Please, go check it out and if you love Magnolias then play along.
I colored with Prismacolor Markers and used Stary Night Stickles on the lilacs. As I look at this photo I noticed it is without the sentiment which is a get well note. The Prima flowers add embellishment. The half pearls are from the Pretties kit from SU.

I used the same papers on the inside and used the same layout without the circle shape. It's Friday night and everybody is out but me....yeah no distrubances ...and loads of stamping. Check back tomorrow for something new....I hope. Talk later.

Stamp With Fun Challenge#1

Another new challenge spot: Stamp With Fun Challenge. This is their first challenge and it is also a sketch challenge. I used Magnolia Tilda with Leaves from the Autumn kit 2008. I used markers to color and added some stickles for highlighting.
All the papers are DCWV Pocketful of Posies. I added Prima Flowers and put some stickles in the center of each flower. I also put stickles in the raindrops. The raindrops on the large flower is actually crystal effects. It looks just like drops of water. I hand wrote the sentiment using a spica pen.
I wanted to post this on time for the wonderful prize...Easter Magnolia stamps and since I am still not feeling up to snuff I am signing off for the day. Talk tomorrow.

Picking Violets

I found a new challenge blog http://cinspirations.blogspot.com/ and I made this card following their sketch. I colored with twinkling H2O and spica pens. The papers are from Provo Craft and DCWV and I love how well they go together, The glass flowers are from the $store and I love how they work together.
After I had finished the card I decided to add some stickles to the centers of the flowers in the bouquet. I only had a few moments to post this so gotta go. Supper is ready to be served.
Talk tomorrow.

Fuzzy Peach /Pink Grapefruit

No pink or blue on this card. This time I used Twinkling H2Os is different but lovely colors. I found this beautiful DP from The Paper Company and decided to make a card that went with it. The other layer is from DCWV and has the same touch of peach and green as the main layer. The framing layers are Pearl Blue (but it really looks green) from The Paper Company,

I used Pink Grapefruit and Fuzzy Peach for the top and socks while the pants and shoes are done with Fresh Oregano. The hair and face were done with Prismcolored Markers. I used the largest of the oval nestibilities to cut out the two layers and the blue layer was made using Creative Memories cutters. I love the flower I created using Prisma flowers with the center from the Pretties Kit from SU. The flowers are a perfect match for the papers.

I used all the remaining papers on the inside. The sentiment is again done using the JustRite Harmony stamper.
I just had a friend phone to say she is coming for a visit so we`ll talk later.

Pink and Blue Tilda

I made this card using Friday Sketches sketch for this week. This sketch is a great one and lots of fun to do. I used Versafine Onyx ink on watercolor paper for this Tilda image. I then colored her with both markers and Twinkling H2Os. After I took the photo I realized I had not used the white gel pen as a highliter so I best get that done.
For the flower I used a Prisma flower and added a half white pear and used the oak leaves punch from Martha Stewart to create a background for the flower.
The papers are all scraps...the pink is a Making Memories as is the blue on the inside. The remainder papers are all DCWV. The base of the card is Whisper White from SU.

I used both the scalloped circle punch and the curvy square punch from SU to decorate the inside. The bottom panel is for the signature. My DH wants these cards for his staff and all he wants to do is sign the cards so this panel will allow this.
I just heard from the boys and they tied their first game. One of my sons is the goalie and he is sick with the flu but there was no way he was missing this tournament. Not much fun for him but he wanted to go. The team was going out for supper before their next game at 10 pm. They are both on the Midget team and this is their last year of hockey so this is their final tournament. I hope they have fun.
Its so quiet here so I think I will watch a nice girlie movie with lots of tear invoking moments. Talk later.

Friday Sketches Picking Flowers

I didn`t know whether to post this card or not but finally I decided to ask for your advice. I just can`t decide if I like the card enough to give it to someone or not. I keep looking at it and wondering if I should take it all apart and try again. Your advice is really needed...what do I do?

The sketch is from Fridays Sketches and I found it a very difficult layout. I used the picking flowers and tree stamps from Magnolia. I used my Prismacolored Pencils for coloring on Tilda and my markers on the trees. To get the multiple flowers on the ground, I masked out the rest of the image stamp except for the flowers. I think that worked out OK. To color the flowers I used glaze pens on the pink and blue flowers. This gives some dimension to the flowers and some shine. The yellow is canary yellow in my markers.
The base of the card is SU`s Kiwi Kiss and the other papers are from the Pocket Full of Posies from DCWV. I used the labels one nestibility and one of the corner designs using Regal Rose scraps. The flowers in the corner are Prismas. The just because sentiment is from the Urban Design stamp set from Papertrey.

I have not entered this card for the Friday Sketches challenge yet. Please let me know if it looks OK or how to change it. I`m wondering about the papers I used. I like the image but the rest is questionable. Looking forward to some advice.

Heather

Fridays Sketchers Friends Forever

I made this card following the Fridays Sketchers blog for this week. Such a great sketch to follow. I wanted to use some new colors for me so I combined Raspberry and Pumpkin together with a little old olive.
I tried to jazz up the cheeks using a more vibrant color but it ended up being a mess....still I thought I would show it to you. I used my markers and love the pumpkin orange with the raspberry. The hair is done with sienna brown. I am really pleased with it all except the cheeks...bit tooooooo much.
Instead of a bow this time I decided to criss-cross the ribbons and use buttons to highlight the cross-over. I also used 5 small marble dots from Bella that I won in a blog candy. The tag is Magnolia....the Winter Christmas club set.

I had a lot of fun doing the inside. The ribbon is from Micheals...$.59 for 9 yards so it is hard to complain about. I love the fact that it is so narrow. I also used some magic mesh to embellish the corners as well as some doodles around the edges.

I made a tag out of scraps and added some mesh and doodles and a clip from my hodgepodge kit. The stamp is "of all possessions, a FRIEND is the MOST PRECIOUS"-herodotus from Michaels $ bin.
No school today because of a blizzard that dropped about 40 cm of snow on our area. The drifts are really high and the visibility is nil....its days like this that I missed...no school is simply not as exciting as when I was teaching.....Woe is me!
Guess I really have no excuse for not cooking a great supper so off I go to make like a caterer.
Talk later.
