Ananda Pants and Undies - Two More Sew Fab Patterns!

Hello, and happy weekend everyone!

Well the Sew Fab sale is coming to an end (tomorrow!), and today I have two final things to show you!  And before anyone gets to thinking I am an animal and have sewn all these things this week - no no no no!  I've been working on these for weeks!  Being a designer in the bundle, I was given access to the patterns early on, before the sale went live to the public.  So as soon as I got it, I got to work!  Not a machine over here, I swear.  :)

Today I have two patterns to share, the first is the Ananda Pants from Chopstix patterns!

The Ananda Pants are a great yoga-style pant that you can make in sizes 2 through 9/10.

They are a very easy sew - a great project to introduce yourself to sewing with knits if you are so inclined!  They are a nice long, wide leg pant with a super comfortable fold-over waistband.  They're just the perfect loungin' pants!  Emmy loves hers, and she'll be getting more pairs, absolutely!  These came out a bit too long on my girl, but we don't care at all - much rather too long than too short on small growing people!  These will fit her for at least another year.  Talk about return on investment!

That's the thing about this bundle - there are so many patterns, in so many size ranges.  You can use this bundle as a sewing resource for literally YEARS to come.  If you've been on the fence about buying, I can't recommend this sale bundle highly enough.  It is so good!

For this pair of Anandas, I used a knit with sweet sparkly stars on it!  You can still get the fabric here at Denver Fabrics!  For the waistband, I wasn't sure if those stars would irritate Emmy's skin - they're not scratchy at all, but three year olds, ya know?  Who knows.  :)  So I cut a second waistband out of this silver rayon knit (also available here), and essentially lined the waistband piece.  Now only the rayon knit comes in contact with her skin.  I want these pants so bad haha!

The Ananda Pants are a part of the Sew Fab bundle - a collection of 26 patterns for just $29.95.  It's a bargain of epic proportions - something like $1.15 per pattern?!?!

And read more about it HERE.

The master of awkward rear-views, doing what she does best...

We love love love our Ananda pants!  She's been wearing them all weekend and they are so stinkin adorable to boot.

The next and final thing I have to show you is UNDIES!

For reasons, I didn't have Em model these, but they are so great!  I made these 4 pairs in one sitting!  So so so fast.  And for fabric you can use tee shirts, tank tops, scraps of a beloved fabric...  The Undies pattern from The Red Kitchen is awesome.  And Katie (of The Red Kitchen) recently posted about how to use fold over elastic to finish the edges!  This will definitely be another pattern that keeps on giving.

The Undies Pattern is just one more amazing pattern you can find in the Sew Fab Bundle.  Check it out in full detail HERE!

So that's EVERYTHING, guys!

If you missed anything and want to check it out, all the Sew Fab posts are here.

I hope you've been able to take advantage of this amazing deal!  It's been such a pleasure to be a part of this, and I've been in awe seeing all the the Bimaa Sweaters popping up all over the place!  It's surreal, and I'm so proud and so grateful.  :)

STAY TUNED you guys - because guess what's happening tomorrow?

Yes, that.  THAT begins tomorrow!!!

Have a great rest of your weekend, all!

The Greenpoint Cardigan - Another Sew Fab Pattern!

Double header today, y'all!

Did you catch my Quilted Jacket this morning?  Well, if you can believe it, I still have more to show you from what I've sewn using patterns from the Sew Fab bundle!

This is the Greenpoint Cardigan from Hey June Handmade!

This was, aside from the jacket, the very first thing I made from the bundle!  I just love it - cardigans are so flipping cute on babes, and really so practical too!  Layering is vital to toddler-meltdown-avoidance, amiright?  Too hot?  Take it off, kid.  Too cold?  Put it back on, kid.  Easy peasy.

Sleepy morning model is sleepy.

For this cardigan I used a ponte knit from Fabric Mart (bought months ago, they've sold out!).  Ponte is a great fabric to use for cardigans - it's incredibly easy to sew and it's very stable.  Your kiddo will not have to fight tons of stretch trying to get their arms into it.

I so desperately wanted to use tortoise shell buttons but, alas! I had none and for the LOVE OF PETE I will get through my stash!  So I used these pretty bone-looking buttons, and I am just as happy with them as I would've been with the tortugas, I'm sure.

This was a fantastic pattern to sew!  Very easy and fast, and the instructions are just perfect!  And bonus that it's suitable for both girls and boys.  So sharp!

Rear view:

Em loves this cardigan and so do I!  I think (and maybe it's just me) that polka dots are a neutral, so she'll be wearing this one 'til there's holes in the elbows!

For reference - I made the 3t and Emmy is three and a half.  Fits perfectly!

We LOVE it!  More of these, definitely!

Have you guys entered the Sew Fab giveaway?!  There are such awesome prizes up for grabs, do check it out!  You needn't buy the Sew Fab bundle in order to enter!  Head HERE to check it out!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Reversible Zippy Hoodie - A Sew Fab Pattern!

Happy Friday, friends!

Today I'm bringing home a project that I made for the amazing series called When We Were Young - the brainchild of Suz of sewpony.

For my contribution to that incredible series, I made Emmy a Jacket resembling one I had as a child!
Check it out - me on the left, Em on the right!!! ...

WHY do I not still have those BOOTS!?

This jacket was sooooo, so fun to make!

When the time came to pick or make a pattern to resemble the jacket from my youngin' days, I was a little unsure about what would work best - I wanted to do a really good job and try to make this jacket last a long long time.  Thumbing through my box'o'patterns, I froze when I saw the Reversible Zippy Hoodie from Kitschy Coo, that I bought years ago.  A completely perfect match!  Amanda (of Kitschy Coo) and I have since become good friends, so I'm really so happy I was able to put her pattern to use on a project that means this much to me.

When planning how to go about this jacket, I knew I didn't want to make it a Winter jacket per se.  I wasn't sure a FULL ON puffy coat was something I was interested in constructing.  So I thought maybe sweatshirt fleece, and just make a traditional hoodie essentially.

Ultimately a happy medium was reached when I called my local Jo-Ann store to see if they had pre-quilted cotton solids, to sort of get the same 'feel' as the original.  Clearly, they did!  And it was really easy to work with, surprisingly.  Not too thick, but thick enough for pumpkin picking and hayrides.  And perhaps the occasional Octoberfest.

The Reversible Zippy Hoodie is a part of the Sew Fab bundle - a collection of 26 patterns for just $29.95.  It's a bargain of epic proportions - something like $1.15 per pattern?!?!

And read more about it HERE.

The pattern itself is amazing, let me just get that right out there.  I have NO IDEA how Amanda figures out how to reversible-ize *literally* everything.  Mind blowing.

Even though it is reversible, I opted against a reversible zip and just lined the jacket per the instructions with a beautiful blue plaid that I've been hoarding for juuuuuust the right project.  I think it's a nice match!

The ribbon trim and faux-fur are also from Jo-Ann.  The metal zip was miraculously in my stash.

Emmylou LOVES her new jacket!  These pictures were taken on a 75 degree afternoon, and when we were done phtoshooting, she didn't want to take it off.  That's a win, folks!

I can't recommend this pattern highly enough.  I'm looking forward to making a proper reversible version!  Maybe for the upcoming Kids Clothes Week?

Have a great weekend, everyone!  And stay tuned - there's a big ol' Bimaa Sweater pattern tour announcement coming SOON!

The Sally Dress Tour

Greetings!  A happiest of Thursday's to you all!

So I have way more to show you from the patterns in the Sew Fab bundle.  WAY more!

Today is extra special though, because I'm also a part of the Sally Dress Tour, sharing my version of the latest pattern from Shannon of luvinthemommyhood!

Have you seen the beautiful Sally's flitting about the interwebs? Gorgeous.

I knew, living in New England, that I'd need to winterize the Sally Dress.  But it was not hard!  I chose a cool Fall/Winter color palette and heavier weight fabrics.  It's perfect for layering with tights and cardigans and I LOVE IT.

This dress had me at hello square neck line.  I adore the shape of this dress.  It's not over-the-top girly, the HUGE pockets are an obvious win, and the pull-it-right-on design is just the kind of ease I look for in a finished garment.  Add all that up and we've got a dress that Emmy and I both love.

I totally enjoyed sewing up the Sally Dress, too! It was quick and straightforward, but I also learned a few things along the way.  Shannon's patterns have some of the best digital illustrations that I've come across.  My visual brain really appreciates that!

Alterations to the pattern were minimal... I shortened the hem by an inch and lengthened the sleeves to the longest length.  This is a size 3t, and for reference, Emmy is a tall, limby three and a half year old. I'm pretty sure I made it too short and it'll be a tunic next year, but hey, that's OK!  Still love it.

The Sally Dress is a part of the Sew Fab bundle - a collection of 26 patterns for just $29.95.  It's an incredible deal!

Did I mention the twirl factor?!  If I did not, BEHOLD:

ADORABLE, the twirls!

My main fabric is a navy 'linen look' from Jo-Ann's from a long time ago!  Like I said in a previous post - I am trying SO HARD to sew down my stash!  I have (semi-feasible!) notions of turning my big ol' unused attic into a studio, so the buying of all the fabric is temporarily on hold. TEMPORARILY.

The pockets are a luscious velveteen from Anna Maria Horner.  The bodice and pockets are lined with a chartreuse cotton.  All from the stash - HIGH FIVES!

I LOVE the palette of this dress!  I love how it all came together!

Fancy Pants Leggings - Part of the Sew Fab Bundle!

Good day, all!  Happy Wednesday!

So I want to show you MOAR of what I've made using patterns from the Sew Fab e-Pattern Bundle!  This collection has so many amazing patterns in it.  Seriously, it's so exciting to be able to use these patterns over and over, as many of them are easy-to-sew staples.

Take for example, the Fancy Pants Leggings from Titchy Threads!

OH THE CUTENESS.

I had my eyes on this pattern long before this sale came to be, so I am uber excited to have them in my possession now!  They're just the cutest lil pants ever you did see!  (And, did you see that this pattern now goes all the way up to size 10?!)  They sewed together in a FLASH, and I will be making a pile of them.  I want to make a really warm and cozy Winter pair that's two layers - a soft knit on the inside and a waffle knit (or fleece?) on the outside.  Cozy, right?!  Perfect for a sledding or snow tubing under-layer!

I apologize for the quality of these photos... We're running out of usable daylight hours (that aren't consumed by my day job) up here in Massachusetts!

So about that adorable fabric, yeah?  Both the cloud and the bunny print were designed by my friend Gwen of Gwenny Penny!  Her line of fabrics are available here at Spoonflower.  I love them so, so much!

Things I also love: this smirky turkey.

Check out that waistband - your eyes do not deceive you - there is no elastic involved with the Fancy Pants Leggings!  So these are supremely comfortable, which is of utmost importance if you want your children to actually wear what you make for them, amiright?

Cloudy With a Chance of Cute Buns.
