SFTW- For the Girls

Happy Friday!  I hope you all have fun plans for your weekend and that they include some time for stamping especially because the new challenge at Stampin' for the Weekend is so darn easy, at least for me.   This fortnight the challenge is "For the Girls".  For me, left to my own devices that's just about every thing I make.  I have to think about making it masculine.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Live and Love Crafts.  There is so much beautiful stuff there you could get lost for days!  Go check it out but don't tell your hubby I sent you.

Here's the deets:

SFTW - Anything But a Card

It's Friday, WOOHOO!  The weekend's here so it's Stampin' for the Weekend time, and if the weather hasn't changed you might as well get your stamps out because it's miserable outside.  Even here in beautiful sunny Florida it's cold, but as we like to say, at least it's not snowing.

In the states this is a particularly big weekend.  It's Superbowl weekend, so you may be involved in a party or like me, uninvolved with football and sitting in your craft room enjoying some inky time.  In that case why don't you play along in our challenge at Stampin' for the Weekend to make anything but a card.

For my project I've covered a mini legal pad and put a little pocket inside the cover for coupons.  I picked up a package of these pads at an office supply store a while ago.  The pads are inexpensive so with a little bit of work and what's already in your stash you've got a great little present.  I've made a couple of these and I described how I made the cover in this post.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Teddy Bo "Shopping Daze"
ink - printer; Ranger Antique Linen
paper -Stampin' Up "Garden Green" card stock; "Delicate Dots" dsp
miscellaneous - copics; Spellbinder's "Labels 22" and "Decorative Labels 22" dies; Heidi Grace rub on alphabets; Martha Stewart border; My Favorite Things Fancy Flourish die-namics; Jolee's Boutique Leatherettes shoe stickers; EK Success Scalloped Scallops punch; embroidery floss; credit card charm; bling

Resting My Eyes

It's been awhile since I've played with a Teddy Bo image.  They are so dang cute, I should break them out more often but you all know there's so many challenges and so little time...  Excuses...Excuses...                                        An old friend of mine recently had a heart attack so I needed a card appropriate for a man.  This week's Teddy Bo challenge is for a masculine card.  Once in awhile things just work out, of course I wish my friend didn't have the heart attack but he did so a get well card is in order.

the inside

I am such an air head.  I put the card together so that the inside is upside down and backwards.  Every now and then in the stores you can find a card that opens on the left usually it's got some kind of joke sentiment about it.   I'm not sure if aggravating a heart attack patient is a good idea.  Over the next couple days I will be agonizing over whether I should cut it apart and mount it onto another card base or will he enjoy seeing that I'm still basically a ditz trying to appear like I have my act together.  Decisions... decisions...

Here's the deets:
stamp - Teddy Bo "Just Resting My Eyes" digi
ink - hp printer
paper - Stampin' Up "Pacific Point" card stock and "Muirfield" dsp
miscellaneous - copics; buttons; floss; hemp cord; Martha Stewart tag punch; brads; machine stitching

Here's the challenges:

Ooh, La, la aka Oops La, la

Pinspirational #6
This card is inspired by the somewhat new "Pinspirational" challenge.  Seeing this little pooch made me want to dig out my Teddy Bo image with the poodle.

My family had several poodles, they were very sweet dogs and my mother loved them dearly.  I couldn't get my mom out of my head while I was making the card so I made the card for her as if she were still here.  Even though she never dyed her dogs pink I think she would get a kick out the idea, who knows if she were around when my brother had his grooming shop she just might have let him dye her critters.

Usually I pay attention when I'm putting my card together but this time I did a big whoopsie.  The opening is on the left and the decorated side is upside down.  I'm wondering if my mother was reaching out from the beyond so that I wouldn't be able to give her card to anyone else...(eerie music playing in the background)

Surf's Up, Dude

It's Friday, yeah!  So what are you doing this weekend?  I hope you're going to join us at Stampin' for the Weekend because this week I picked the challenge theme.  We've being sponsored by LOTV and that means a nice prize for someone.  This challenge is easy peasy, it's "Use It Up".  We'd like you to use some stuff that's been sitting in your stash since last year.  Technically you can use stuff you got for Christmas but why not move some of the stuff that's starting to get dusty.  You're welcome to use stamps or digis of any brand you'd like.

This year I'm going to try to make more masculine cards.  I'm thinking that at least one a month would be a good commitment and easy enough to keep and maybe I'll get more done.  I'll keep you posted.

Here's the deets:
stamp - digi from Teddy Bo
ink - hp printer
paper - Stampin' Up cs and dp
miscellaneous - copics, lacey square nestie; twine; charm

Here's the challenges:

Black Friday

In the states it's Black Friday.  Which is just a shopping frenzy that I don't care to partake in.  I'd rather be home stamping, so if you're like me why don't you join us in the  Stampin' For the Weekend challenge.  This week the theme is friends and there's two prizes to  be had so stop over to the blog to check out all the deets and see what the rest of the design team has created.

I may actually make it to some stores today, but it's because there's still lots of stuff that have to get purchased for the new house.  Why is it you can never use curtains in more than one house, or the shower curtains?  Crazy isn't it?  More cleaning supplies which of course means more cleaning, ugh.   I can't wait till this move is completed.  I think I'll stay put for a very, very long time.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Teddy Bo
ink - hp printer
paper - Recollections silver card base; the Paper Cut "Bubblegum" card stock; My Mind's Eye "Winter Wonderland" dp
miscellaneous - copics; pleated ribbon, ribbon, silver elastic thread, charm; Stampin' Up corner punch

Boo!

I think that pumpkin charm is darling
Don't be frightened, it's just time for Stampin' for the Weekend's challenge which is the "Colors of Autumn".  It doesn't get much easier than that.  You can make any kind of card or paper craft you wish, just use fall colors.

You can get lots more inspiration from the rest of this very talented design team by clicking here.  All the details as well as a linky thingy will be there.

For my card I used a Teddy Bo image.  I picked this one because not that long ago I wore a pumpkin costume just like it.  That year I took a holiday but went into the office with my daughter.  I wish I knew where those photos are, I would put one in this post.

don't forget the inside

Here's the deets:

Fancy It Up

This is not a card, this is a cover to a mini legal pad.   Wouldn't this look sweet sitting next to your phone?  Or it makes a nice little practical gift and doesn't cost much.   You can pick up  a package of the mini legal pads at an office supply store.  I think you can even find these at Walmart.  They cost about a dollar a pad, you gotta love that price.

It's very easy to do.  One sheet of double sided 12" x 12" paper, and a stamped image is all you need, of course you can jazz it up all you like.  For this cover I used a second piece of paper for the rectangle under the image.  I've made these with smaller images and only used one sheet of paper.

The pad measures 5" x 8", it's a 1/4" wide.  Add a smidge onto to tops and sides plus the 1/4" for the thickness of the pad and that's the cover.  Cut a small piece of paper 5" x 2" to cover the flap of the pad.  You can make a flap for the inside of the cover with the left over paper.

don't forget the inside
Since this is going to be handled more than a card you should use a good a heavy paper and red line tape.  Cover the flap of the pad so that the papers contrast and then attach it to the cover with the red line tape. Fold your paper around the pad to open like a book, apply red line tape around the edges of the bottom of the pad and adhere it.  If you are going to make a flap cut it and apply the tape just to the outside and bottom edges.  You can add a little matching image to the flap, I used an initial.  Then you just put the cover together like any other project.  You can make it as plain or fancy as you'd like.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Teddy Bo digi "Walkies"; Just Rite "Special Occasions" alphabet; Stampin' Up "Basic Gray" for the initial
ink - hp printer; Ranger "Antique Linen"
Paper - Stampin' Up "Bella Bleu" dsp; Recollections neutrals card stock; Georgia Pacific white cs

For those of you who visit often and read about Shamus (aka Naughty Boy) and have wondered what he looks like,  I'm adding a couple pics of the fellow.

in a minute he will be up on his legs and wapping on the window trying to get the lizard that's outside, I think the poor little lizard almost had a heart attack.

I have no idea why he jumps up onto this little space but he does.  He likes to walk around the columns, there are two of them and he walks around both of them.  He has also been seen walking across the buffet on the right.

Does my daughter need another excuse for not putting her clothes in her drawers

home decor as appetizer.  the wreath now sits on a shelf in the garage.   well, those are just a few of the newer pics that help to explain how he got the name Naughty Boy.

Congrats to MOJO

Mojo Monday posted its 200th sketch challenge.  WOW!  That's something.  I figure that makes them close to 4 years old.   I haven't been following Mojo for that whole time, but once I found it I became a loyal follower.  Mojo and other challenges are responsible for my blog.  It all started a few short years ago with stalking the Splitcoast site.  I think I stalked for about 2 years before I got the courage up to post a card.  Reading the posts on Splitcoast I found out about challenges on the Internet.  To participate in some of the challenges you needed a blog, and that folks is how I came to blog.
Back to Mojo...Every Monday a new sketch challenge is posted and the first Monday of the month is a prize week.  The Wednesday of the following week the winners are announced with a slide show presentation.  I just love to sit and watch the cards.  There are so many talented crafters out there and the cards are fantastic, lots of inspirations in that show.  Even browsing the thumbnails I get inspired and impressed.  So thanks to Julee for such a great blog, I hope this challenge is around for many more years.

Wings and Things

can't see the ballerina charm on the bow?  click the photo to enlarge
Sugar Creek Hollow is one of my favorite challenge sites so I was thrilled to be asked to guest design for them (a big hug and thanks for having me play with you this week).  SCH challenges you to make a project in a vintage, shabby chic or primitve style.  One of the things I love to do to my cards is shabby them up.  I can and do spend hours sponging and pouncing ink on paper.

This week the theme is "Wing Things" so you can us fairies, angels, birds and butterflies for example.  So I chose to use a fairy teddy bear ballerina.  It's from Teddy Bo and if you visit here regularly you know that the bears are a favorite of mine.  Can you blame me?

Shop Ahoy

there's a credit card charm attached to the bow
There's nothing that's much more fun than hitting the mall with your buddies.  It looks like Teddy Bea has hit Bloomingdale's and Tiffany's.  I don't know if there's a Bloomies anywhere near where I live now but back in NJ, I sure knew where to find them.  I even worked at Bloomies for awhile.  I think I ended up spending more than I earned there and that was with the discount!  Well that was a long time ago and shopping is no longer an aerobic exercise for me, but my darling daughter has taken it up.

Quick and Easy

No, I'm not talking about that slut  (she was not a very nice girl) that stole your boyfriend in high school, I'm talking about quick and easy projects.  I love quick and easy projects.   This altered frame fits that description.  Won't it look neat in a little baby boy nursery.  Anybody know anyone with a little baby boy?  I'm fresh out of them.  Since this is a digi image you make make it smaller or larger if you don't want to cover up the frame opening.  I like it imposing onto the opening.

The current challenge at Teddy Bo is anything but a card.  I was going to cover a notebook and make a Christmas journal but while I was going through the cheapie section at Michael's I found a selection of frames which begged to come home with me.  Lordie, Lordie, I do love the cheapie section at Michael's.  You can find great things to alter, and you can find some really great cheap crafting products.  You wouldn't believe the bag of tricks I picked up this week.  Of course my cheap purchases were offset by my daughter's haul.  But I digress...

Here's the deets:
stamp - Teddy Bo "Land Ahoy" digi
ink - hp printer
paper - Georgia Pacific white cs; blue SU cs
miscellaneous - copics; Nesties circle and Lacey circle dies; frame
