CIC239 - Digi Darla Designs

Talk about cute!  There's rarely a cupcake that I wouldn't eat.  Well, these are the exception to my rule, I just couldn't eat these cuties, which just happen to be the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspiration Challenge CIC239.  The only thing cuter than these toppings are the images from our sponsor,  Digi Darla Designs .  You have to go visit Digi Darla, there are so many adorable images there you could just lose your mind trying to pick one.   By the way, if you're in a rush and don't have time to color or you aren't very good at coloring there are some pre-colored images available too.  There's something for everyone.

I love cats and dogs, my house has been a zoo for years.   So I had to pick "Digi Darla's Snowtime Scottie 9" an image that features both a cat and a dog for my card.

For the notch at the top right of the card I used circle dies placed over the edge of the paper.  A larger circle was used on the patterned paper so that card stock mat would show.  I took my time placing this die and used a tiny piece of scotch tape to hold it in place as even a slight move would be critical on this cut.

Currently the kitty that owns me is an orange tabby that's a lot tougher looking than this guy and our dog is a darker grey terrier mix (that's code for very lovable mutt).  Neither of my animals own fancy hats and scarves but when my daughter was young she used to dress the cat up.  He was quite a good sport about it.

Devastatia

CIC131
I think this is Jack Skeleton and Sally's wedding cake.  Weren't they the perfect couple.  A match made in Halloweentown.  Where ever this cake came from it's a great inspirational piece for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge #131.  This week we're being sponsored by Kenny K and there will be 3 prizes awarded so go your crayons sharpened up.

This week there's a second inspiration cake.  So if you're not a fan of Halloween you can use the "Sweet 16" cake for your inspiration.  So like I said before - go get those crayons ready.

CIC131b

I happen to be a big fan of Halloween so you know which cake I picked.

This week has been incredibly busy and stressful for me.  My daughter had to have unanticipated surgery on Tuesday to remove a pilonial cyst and just a couple days earlier we adopted a puppy (our kitty was not too happy).   So I haven't been paying as much attention to blogging as I normally would.  Tomorrow we go back to the surgeon to find out if she can return to school.  Keep your fingers crossed.

there's a tiny skull and crossbones charm hanging off the
linen thread whick is tied to the orange ribbon.  if you
click on the photo to enlarge it you might be able to see it

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll come back again.  I also hope that you'll play along with us at Cupcake Inspirations.  We love to see what you create.

For those of you who have been waiting to see a photo of our new fur baby here's a pic of his adorable face.

His name is Bill Bailey.  He came to us from Underdog which is a rescue group here in Bradenton.  If you're looking to get a pet I encourage you to look into a rescue dog, I found Underdog by doing a google search for rescue dogs in my area.  There are so many deserving animals in need of a home.  Can you believe that Bill was slated for execution?  I am so glad that Underdog rescued him and a wonderful couple were willing to give him a home till he was ready to be adopted.

It took a week but Shamus was finally willing to make friends with Bill.

More Halloween Cuppies

I don't know which I like more, the pumpkin
charm, or the candy corm embellies
Yesterday I mentioned that it's time to start the Halloween cards in earnest and that card featured cupcakes decked out in costumes.  Today, the cupcake is dressed up with candy.  Maybe tomorrow you'll get to see another of my Halloween cupcake stamps.  Yes, there is another one, trouble is, I'm not sure where that one is hiding.  Might be more, but again, they are hiding.  It'll be nice to get to a place where I can have all my supplies in one place.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Holiday Sweets I"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - Bazzill "Tangelo" cs; Warsau "Terra Green", :Planetary Purple" cs; K and Co "Tim Coffey Halloween Specialty" pad
miscellaneous - copics; stickles, baker's twine; lace ribbon; charm; Recollection candy corn adhesive embellishments; Taylored dies "Scallop eyelet border"; Nesties circle and inverted scallop circle; sewing machine

don't forget the inside

Here's the challenges:
Paper Pretties PWC170 - sketch
Paper Cutz #108 - Going to the Pumpkin Patch
Pals Paper Arts PPA110 - Halloween
Crafty Sentiments - Halloween

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll come back again.  And a special thanks to all of you who leave comments.  Those comments make my day.

PS - do any of you have this problem.  Naughty boy (aka Shamus) just has to stick his face where it doesn't belong.   Bad enough he has the gall to jump onto the table but then he has to get in the photo.  What a ham.

That's my Shamey

This week, the last week of "Critter" month,  the girls at Shirley's 2 Girls asked me to make a card with "Best Furry Friend"  and the twist is to use Purple and Orange.  My kitty kat Shamus is orange and purple is my favorite color so that was an easy request  to take.  I just went looking for some purple paper.  Have you noticed that just about everything I post includes the phrase "I went looking for..."  Yeah, well, scrap stuff still doesn't have a place to call home.   I'll get around to that...eventually, but I digress.
It's Twisted Thursday and as I said the twist is to use purple and orange.  Grab your favorite critter image and whip something up.  Enter your creation by linking it up on the Shirley's 2 Girl challenge blog and who knows, maybe you'll win.  Some body's gotta win.  Need more inspiration, the design team always have something great to show, so again, go check out the S2G blog for some idea.  Don't have a critter image, there's a link to the store on the challenge blog and you can find plenty of adorable digi images there.  And since they're digi it won't take long to get, you'll be printing and coloring in no time.
For my card I put my efforts into coloring the digi image with copics.  The dp is from DCWV Glitter Stack and the little piece of yellow card stock is a DCWV scrap.    The kitty has a little bit of orange stickles on him and the woman has a little bit of yellow stickles in her hair, like highlights.  The yellow stickles were also used for the flower centers.  Easy Peasy and pretty cute.  I love to make cards with lots of layers but I've been experimenting with getting back to simpler cards.   Quite frankly, I can't figure out which style I like better.  So what I've found out is that I just like the way homemade cards look, doesn't matter how intricate and fancy or how plain and simple, I like them all.

Now for those of you who are nosey like me, and you know who I mean, I'm posting a pic of the real Shamus and me.  Can you tell that he's trying to get away from me the card looks pretty much like the real kitty.  Now if I'd been thinking ahead I would have worn my purple tee shirt, that would have been perfect.

So here's the deets:
Stamp - Shirley's 2 Girls "Best Furry Friend" digital image
Ink - HP printer
Paper - dp DCWV  "Glitter Stack";  Georgia Pacific card stock for image; yellow scrap sc DCWV
Miscellaneous - copics, Prima flowers, stickles

Here's the challenges:
Shirley's 2 Girls - Critters, twist use Purple and Orange
Creative Card Crew - Bloomin' Marvelous - the more flowers the better (even my dp has flowers)

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you will come back again.

No Bad Cats

There are no bad cats only people with high expectations. Shamus is the most recent furry addition to our family. He joined us in the summer of 2007. My first kitty, Samantha joined me in 1980. In all these years I have had many cats, probably a dozen, and they have all been feral cats that came inside. My brother has had many cats too. Between the two of us we never had a cat bother a Christmas tree until we met Shamey. All I can say is that I was so happy that after hubby put the tree up back in 2007 I was busy and didn't start putting the decorations on right away. I have a lot of snow baby ornaments which are ceramic. I think I would have had a heart attack if Shamus knocked down the tree while they were on it. So that year the ornaments stayed packed and we tied ribbons all over the tree. Shamey climbed into that tree every day, he would climb up and down till he found a comfortable spot to lay down on. He really liked climbing around in it. I expected that it would fall over but it never did. Still baffles me. The tree was a pre-lit one and he chewed on some of the wires and now it's a partially lit tree. We thought he might have matured and tried the tree the next Christmas but he still liked getting into it. As I get older going up and down all the stairs with the decorations is a big job so these days we don't even bother to see if he's still interested. I have a lovely tiny little tabletop tree that's made up of pink ornaments which I love and Shamey ignores it so in the end we're all winners.

A couple weeks ago I won the sketch challenge on Shirley's 2 Girls with my Woof, Woof, Woof card. For my prize I got to pick the stamp of my choice and I choose the "Bad or Good Cat" stamp. When I saw that stamp I immediately thought of my furry little boy and had to have it. I didn't know that the Shirley's girls were going to have a cat theme for this month so how lucky for me that I had it in time for this challenge and how perfect is this sketch for showing off a picture of my kitty next to the S2G stamp. I pulled out my kitty scrapbook and was happy to see that I could fit the picture and the stamped image on the cat head shaped paper. I pulled out this My Mind's Eye paper and went to work. I stamped the cat in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it in with my copics. The edges of the papers are sponged with Versamagic Sea Breeze. I wrapped the twine around the crossbar. I think it would also look cute with miniature lightsd strung around it but mine are stored at work with my miniature tree and I wasn't going out shopping. I settled for the twine as requested for the challenge. There's a teeny weeny kitty cat charm hanging off the twine. You can try clicking on the picture to enlarge it if you want to get a better look at it.
I hope you enjoyed reading about Shamus, he is one cutey pie, a very large cutey pie. He's so cute I could never call him bad.
Thanks for visiting, please come back again.
