You are Art - Pascale B Scrap

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic's blog with a new mixed-media panel featuring a photo from @ArtHouseWhimsy from the A kind of Christmas set.

I primed the canvas board with white gesso before adding a design using paper paste. I also added some paper paste to the edges. When dry, I covered the design with clear crackle paste. The result is a barely visible and subtle design that reminds the wing.

I painted the background with Deep Turquoise and Prussian Blue liquid acrylic paints.

I primed all the chipboards with white gesso and decided to emboss the Geo Panel with grunge embossing powder.

I painted the Flower Posie #4, the Poppy Heads, and the Flower Buds #1 with nude and magenta liquid acrylic.

For the Tea Leaves and the branches of the previous, I added some black to the nude-magenta mix to obtain a brown. I used this brown to add some shadow to the background.

To finish, I added some pink and turquoise glitter.

Fun Times - Kim Arnold

Hi everyone! Today I am bringing you my take on the June mood board. I loved the colours of this moodboard and used all the colours in my clusters of flowers. For the base of the layout, I focused on two shades of purple with a pop of the orange. These photos are from when hubby and I attended a local production of Hair the Musical, and it just happened that the lighting made our selfie very orange and the image for the musical was very purple – so perfect for this moodboard!

I decided to use a section of the large geo panel 12 x 12 background (3 squares wide by 4 squares long – I used other parts of the geo panel on other layouts) to create a panel that would sit behind my photo cluster. I painted this with a pale creamy apricot acrylic paint.

I liked the Fun Times words that were in the Mini Captions 21 pack. Although not a big title, I thought it worked well next to the cluster of flowers. So the title would pop, after I painted in an orange acrylic paint, I finished it with Dimensional Magic so it had a dimensional shiny finish.

I painted the dandelions using gold mica paint. This colour isn’t specifically on the mood board, but I think of gold as a neutral colour and it brings a real pop to the flower clusters. These dandelions are one of my absolute favourite Dusty Attic products and they look so beautiful tucked into flower clusters.

Love moments like these - Kim Arnold - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello Dusty Fans, Kim here with Mood Board Inspiration for you.
Here is the May challenge with its Autumn tones.

Here is my layout of our "Autumn Harvest" which the dogs think are balls.

I have started my layout with a strip of the large Geo panel in the back ground.
Using 49 and Market papers I have left the barcode section on at the bottom, cutting the same thickness from the top to keep my page 12x12.

I have painting my title, making the MOMENTS word a rusty orange then covered it with clear embossing powder to make it glossy

The cute Songbird has also been painted in the same tones.

At the bottom the photo I have a cluster made from a piece of chipboard driftwood underneath the Christmas Berries and added a page pebble.

Dusty Attic products used.

Remember it is really easy to join in the challenge and you could win a $50 credit to the DUSTY ATTIC ONLINE STORE

Just add your take of the mood board and add it to the comments section in the Dusty FANattics Facebook page  HERE

Happy Creating

Captured Moments - Pascale B

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic's blog with an album cover, a gift for a friend.

I covered the Geo Panel #1with Graphite paste. I cut out the Number Panel two 9  which I embossed with Chrome Doesn't Pay!

I selected gears from different sets like Jumbo Cogs #2, Gears #1 by nuneka, Mini Cogs, and Designer Disc #15. I chose also the Industrial Cluster #1.

I used a technique I haven't used for a very long time to alter the Jumbo Cog #2 and the Designer Disc #15. First I covered them with black gesso, then I added PVA glue with I heated until the glue bubbled. I covered the glue with black gesso and heat again; When cold, I highlight the details with silver wax. You can see the step-by-step here.

I decided to cover the other cogs with silver Metallic Flakes to add some contrast. I used Soot Antiquing wax to tone down the shine.

I glued the different chipboards with 3D Gel.

To finished I added a few screw heads.
