Good morning
Today I've done 2 projects for you.
The first one is bright and colourful. It is a double layout with a 70's hippy theme from a recent retreat that I attended.

Good morning
Today I am back with a fun and bright art journal page for you.
Hello everyone, it's Deb here with my November Mood Board Inspiration make. This is a small A5 Visual diary that I decorated using lots of Dusty Attic chippy and stash items.
I started by stenciling through the DA1538 Distressed grid stencil with clear texture paste and added some crackle paste as well. After it dried, I arranged my elements on the cover until I was satisfied with the composition and adhered it.
Then I covered it all with a coat of white primer.
This is where the begins! Using a mix of paints and waxes in the Mood Board Inspired colours I finished off with some waxes. Here are some more close ups of the cover.

Hi Fanattics...
I was playing in my journal, my secret passion, and needed to create a title and a focal point for my layout.
First I just want to share the December mood board with you, why not enter for a chance to win one of the $50 credits to the Dusty Attic website?
Now chipboard is usually really bulky to use in journals...
Check out my hack to make it user friendly.
I started by painting the background black with gesso. I picked warm colours and created a pallet to use and a complimentary colour. This time I chose green. It made me feel like autumn. Always a winning colour pallet in my books. I added some marks with the back of a brush to create texture, crosshatching and some circles in by watering down the left over gesso on my craft mat and used my fingertip to create dots with the left over colours. I used some printed words from an encyclopaedia to create a theme. This one is Mythological.
To add the chipboard, I used my scalpel to peel apart the layers. Go slowly so you don't tear the top layer. I then used a dry brush with paint to edge the chippy to create some definition.
Have fun creating and let me know how you go transforming your chipboard into exciting focal points.

Hey Dusty Attic Fans,
I took to the craft room for an art journal session and my chip boards. Why use chip boards? Why not! By the time I build up all the texture in my page and my layers I love having a focal point that pops, literally!
In the background I started with layers my favourite chalk based paints with a brayer. I then used an old store card to create some vertical and horizontal lines. Along those lines I used a fine tip applicator with white acrylic to add some random scribble text.
I used some gel prints I made during a play session on tissue paper. Tissue paper is AMAZING. I use matt gel medium underneath and then place the tissue on top. It becomes completely transparent when you add a top layer of gel medium. Works as a substitute for stamping or stenciling on your journal pages when trying to 'flatten' the layers.
I used some scraps that were lying around on my desk. I always keep offcuts when I create. When paper is already torn it takes some of the thinking out of what to create with and becomes more of a puzzle.. Like "Where does this go?" rather than "How does this go with..."
