i am thankful

We have so much to be thankful for on this beautiful Thanksgiving day.

One year ago today we received the call that changed our lives. I remember we were cleaning the house and preparing to go Dustyn's brother's house for Thanksgiving. (It was the day before Thanksgiving last year) The phone rang and I saw that it was LDS Family Services. I thought, Hmm... I wonder what they need. We had just renewed all of our stuff in the prior months, maybe they were just catching up with us. I didn't think much of it and went on my way as Dustyn answered the phone. He greeted one of the workers in the office. Not our case worker. Weird. Why would he be calling us? As I heard bits and pieces of the conversation, I quickly ran to Dustyn's side and listened to the one-sided conversation. Is this real? Is there really a birth mother that wants to meet us? Clearly I was hearing this all wrong! This was the first contact that we had received through our agency. I couldn't believe that a birth mother wanted to meet US!

We were going to meet her in just 10 short days. 10 days. How was I going to make it those 10 days. I wanted to tell the world. I wanted to be excited, ecstatic actually. Those 10 days we were cautious. Nervous. Scared. But, I couldn't keep the excitement from coming. I was most definitely excited.

We went to Thanksgiving at Dustyn's brother's house. We didn't tell anyone. It was hard. So very hard. With all of the past experiences that we had gone through we couldn't bare to hurt our families again. We kept it in.

Those 10 days were some of the longest days in my entire life.

10 days.

We had no idea that in exactly four months, our handsome son Gage would be born.

Happy 8 months, my handsome baby boy!

T-15 hours until a Thanksgiving Celebration!

Is anyone else so excited for Thanksgiving?
I am!
Today I made Spinach Dip, Cranberry Sauce and a Red Velvet cake. Mmm...

Tomorrow I am making Roasted Carrots. Yum.

Can't wait.

Well things have been moving along here in the DK household.
I have been sick, sick for at least 2+ weeks. It has been terrible. I haven't felt like doing anything. At. All. I am finally starting to feel better today and I am hoping by tomorrow I will be closer to healthy. So not a fan of being sick.

I have been subbing quit a bit. I have been helping out at the Middle School. It's 6th grade math and I love it. Sadly, I don't think they will be needing me anymore so that is too bad. I really enjoyed being there with the students. I would love to go get my teaching degree and teach middle school or high school math. Maybe someday. Probably not. ha ha.

If you haven't heard, my awesome brother is engaged to the cutest girl ever. Katie. We love her.

So excited for them!

Last week they came over and made a Pre-Thanksgiving dinner for us (including deep fried turkey). It was yummy. Afterwards we went to New Moon. Loved it. My parents came with us too. Great night! (although i think my dad may disagree a little).

We laughed at the first picture, so we had to try for a second. :)

Oh my! Can I just tell you, I absolutely love Glee. Best show ever.

A few weeks ago we went to Logan for Zach and Danyl's Wedding. It was a great weekend! On the way home we stopped in Ogden and visited Dustyn's grandmother. She is so sweet and so sharp! She can remember everything. It's fun to visit her and hear her stories. I wish we lived closer to her so we could spend more time with her.

We also saw some pretty sweet clouds in Logan! This is one of the Walmarts there. At first glance I thought it was a mall. :)

Well I think that is all for today.
I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving was fabulous!

Yes, yes, I am behind. Finally getting to Thanksgiving!  At least it is happening before Christmas, right?  :)

I did not really take any pictures on Thanksgiving, because this cute girl wanted to run my camera.

So all these pictures are courtesy of Cam-a-Ree!

Yes, there are a lot of photos!  :)  I didn't even put them all on, but you get the idea!

Thanksgiving was really fun!  We had it at the local senior citizens center.  We had the traditional turkey dinner which was fabulous and yummy!  Then we had the annual Bingo playoff!  My grandma provides prizes of both presents and cash!  It is always a fun time for sure!  Sadly, we never win.  UNTIL this year!  Wooohooo!  I won the very last blackout prize!  I was very, very excited.  I got a pretty set of glass pasta dishes (6) and a serving bowl!  I love it!  I can't wait to use it!  Thanks grandma!  All the festivities were perfect!

Later on over the weekend we played games with family and spent time hanging out!  I love "family" holidays!  They are the best!

And that my friends, was our fabulous Thanksgiving break!
