Soft Days

Twister

Another one of my Christmas quilts off, of my list. This one is for my daughter. The most important part about this quilt is the backing.

 Twister
You can see the Minkee in the upper right hand corner.

It is made using Minkee. I bought the Minkee fabric last summer and my daughter kept asking me when it is going to be finished. I normally name all my quilts so I was asking for suggestions this morning for it. She has decided on the name Soft Days. I really enjoyed the Twister pattern, though again it was hard for me to cut something up again once it was all together. I did find too that I had to be careful with the cuts to make sure I did not cut too far into the next square.

And as to my wonder last week about my Red/Aqua Swap quilt it has now officially become my son's. Luckily for me I made myself a new Christmas quilt. To me, you can never have too many quilts!

On Their Way!

Well, I got two quilts finished and on their way to the quilter's yesterday. I got a lot accomplished in August and it will be nice to have some finished projects later this year.

I so love this dog quilt, that will be for my friend's first grandchild and it was so easy to do. I am even prouder that all the fabric can from my stash.

I also finally got around to finishing the Twister quilt for my daughter.  I was in a rush to get it done and realized after, I had not taken a photo of the completed top. She had picked out a Minky aqua backing last summer, and kept asking me when it would be in a quilt for her. Well, now it will!

WIP Wednesday - Twisting

Twister

I always seem to quilt better when I have something to watch. I have taken out the Pillars of the Earth DVD set from the library and have been enjoying it. I started working again on my daughter's Twister quilt. I have learned from experience not to leave a project too long or the possibility exists of me losing pieces. My daughter saw me working on it last night and told me that she really liked it. She asked me who it was for, and I said, it's for you. She told me that she really liked it, even it was not for her, but the really like it part was in hope that it was for her. She is so sweet! Design Wall Monday - Twister

I have the first two rows of the Twister quilt done. I like it more than I thought would. I am finding the cutting to be a bit finicky. I have to be very careful not to cut into the next twister blade. My daughter will be happy once this quilt is done. This started life as a surprise Moda stash bag and I was so happy to find a layer cake of Blush. This will be another one that I won't want to give away, but luckily it won't be going to far and maybe if I am really lucky I will get to use it sometimes. WIP Wednesday - Knitting, Redwork, Quilting

I finally got my sock done, so I decided to give myself a break and work on something else. I cleaned up my quilt room this past week and found some great projects.

I bought a table topper kit last summer, for my dining room. Now that my dining room is done, I can start working on it. I found it harder to trace some of the intricate red work patterns so I bought some Transfer Eze with my Christmas quilting gift certificate. It is my first time using it and so far I am very impressed.

I also finally got back to my Twister quilt. I put on the borders yesterday and started to cut. I always find it difficult to cut a block once it's made. It seems weird to have a completed quilt top in front of me and than cut it up again.

Last summer at the same place where I got my table topper kit I also bought some minkee fabric to use as a backing for this quilt. My daughter has been hinting that it is time for me to get it done, so I promised to start working on it again.
