Teacher Gratitude

My children and I decided this year to choose one teacher who had meant a lot to them and make them a quilt. The quilts have now been given and both teachers were thrilled. Having people who help and support my children means a lot to me. I appreciate and am grateful for all they have done to encourage my children to pursue their passions and become wonderful, caring people.

Friday Night Sew-In - Interlocking Chains

My son and I started sewing together the blocks for the Interlocking Chains quilt. We have six columns sewn and three left to go. We have been taking turns sewing and it has worked out quite well. It is his turn again and then I will start sewing the rows together. Check out what others made for Friday Night Sew In.

Interlocking Chains

With the help of my son, I got all my blocks completed for the Interlocking Chains quilt.

Now it is all laid out and I will double check it before starting to sew. I am hoping to sew this all at once since there are so many blocks and I don't want to mess up the pattern. The blocks went together quickly and I am fascinated with the striking outcome. These would not be my colours but as always I like how quilting expand my tastes and love of different colours. My daughter has told me she would like me to make this quilt for her as well. This one, once completed will be going to one of my son's favourite teachers.

Letter of the Day - L

The quilt I am working on reminds me of Sesame Street and the letter of the day. I have never made a quilt with so many different blocks. Last night for Friday Night Sew-In, the letter of the day was L. The blocks go to Q so I still have a ways to go. There are 99 blocks in total and I am anxious to see them all laid out.  I have found this quilt closest to being a puzzle so I am hoping it will all fit together.

Interlocking Chains

I started on another quilt last week. This quilt is for someone special in my children's lives. Her favourite colours are black and white. I have never worked in just these colours before and I have to say that I love them. They have spark and vibrancy. My children are going to help me sew it, but I have to admit I got carried away and did a bunch more squares than planned. I love making quilts for others for this very reason. I never thought blue and orange were so beautiful until I made my niece's quilt and now I am in love with black and white. I would love to make this quilt for myself. Once again quilting has given me so much more than I give away.
