My buddy Susan, aka knitting superstar, finally opened an Etsy shop of her own! Here I am modeling her awesome neckwarmer.
Speaking of cool Etsy shops, have you guys checked out Casey's new shop? She's got a calendar and some cards with super fun illustrations. And what about Adele's new shop? I love her clean and simple aesthetic and really like her valentine card designs. These are very talented ladies and I've been enjoying their blogs for some time now - it's exciting to see them open their own shops!

Rusted root
It feels so good to finish a project. I started this over a year ago and it's finally done - my first piece of knitted clothing for myself.
The construction is really neat because it's knit in *one* piece from the top down on circulars. This means no seaming at all, which was super nice for lazy me. (By the way, I really like that knitting is so portable. Much of my knitting these days is done in airports or airplanes.)
Okay, here's the knitty-gritty (haha):
Pattern: Rusted Root from Zephyr Style
Yarn: Rowan Cashsoft DK (4 balls + some)
Needles: US4 and US6 Addi Turbo circulars
Started: too long ago
Finished: Feb '08
Labels: knit

Snow and snails
The weekend in Tahoe proved to be quite snowy and enjoyable. I took this as we were leaving so I can remember all the snowy whiteness. Check out the loaf on top of the red Prius in front of us!
While my buddies were out braving the slopes, I stayed in our toasty cabin and worked on these little guys.
I've long admired amigurumis and finally decided to tackle crochet after spotting this irresistible pattern by Amy Gaines at Bobbin's Nest Studio. It was a pretty beginner-friendly pattern and didn't take too long to finish. There's actually another little snail that goes on top of the mushroom, but I'm okay with it as is. I have a couple sewing projects in mind for this month, and hope to set up an etsy shop too with some paper goods.

Overdue blanket
In the last couple of weeks or so I've been motivated to pick up all my nearly done knitting projects and finish them up! This one was first because this weekend I'll be seeing the receiver of this very very late gift. I think I promised it to her 3 years ago. I know, so embarrassing, right? Better late than never I guess! I hope she likes it.
I ran out of yarn with just a few yards to go and really didn't want to buy another ball. So I found some yarn that was close in gauge - hence the red corner. I was almost too lazy to block it but am glad I did because it does look neater than before.
We're heading up to Tahoe this weekend with some friends, and I'm super excited because instead of skiing and boarding like everyone else I am staying in the cabin! I've decided that I'm done with snow sports, and I found a *really* cute little project to work on during the day. It's something I've never done before, so we'll see if I can do it!
