Unusual Trading in Stock Options Prior to 9/11: Government Destroyed Documents Regarding Pre-9/11 Put Options

Sources tell CBS News that the afternoon before the attack, alarm bells were sounding over unusual trading in the U.S. stock options market.

An extraordinary number of trades were betting that American Airlines stock price would fall.

The trades are called "puts" and they involved at least 450,000 shares of American. But what raised the red flag is more than 80 percent of the orders were "puts", far outnumbering "call" options, those betting the stock would rise.

Sources say they have never seen that kind of imbalance before, reports CBS News Correspondent Sharyl Attkisson. Normally the numbers are fairly even.'

Attorney: Deepwater Horizon Managers Knew About Oil Rig Problem Before Explosion

Top Houston attorney Tony Buzbee says he has new evidence which indicates that Deepwater Horizon’s managers knew that the BP oil rig had major problems before its explosion on April 20, citing the eyewitness account of a crew member who rescued burning workers on the rig of a conversation between Deepwater Horizon installation manager Jimmy Harrell and someone in Houston. According to the witness, Harrell was screaming, “Are you fucking happy? Are you fucking happy? The rig’s on fire! I told you this was gonna happen".'

Total Sellout: Leading Agricultural Scientist Says 'Organic' Farmers Should Plant GM Crops

A former British agricultural government advisor has said that organic farming should embrace genetically modified (GM) crops as a way to make large-scale agriculture more environmentally sustainable.

Gordon Conway, a professor of international development at Imperial College London, told the Times of London that organic agriculture focuses excessively on what is "natural." Referring to the exclusion of synthetic technologies from the definition of organic as "rigid," he said that GM technology should be used to increase crop yields while limiting ecological damage.'

Afghan Wedding Carnage 'a US Strike'

The deadly attack on a group of civilians at a wedding in southern Afghanistan was a US-led air strike, a Taliban spokesman claims.

The bomb explosion in the Arghandab district of Kandahar province on Wednesday left about 40 people dead and more than 80 others injured, a Press TV correspondent reported.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi said on Thursday that Wednesday night's blast was not an attack by the group, but a US-led strike.'

The US Army has arrested Specialist Bradley Manning, a soldier deployed in Iraq with the 10th Mountain Division, on charges that he allegedly released classified information. The military is looking at a possible connection between Spc. Manning and WikiLeaks, an online whistleblower organization which in April published a graphic video of an Apache gunship mistakenly shooting civilians, according to Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman.'

Nailed Again: IDF Description of Suspicious Photo It Distributed Is Retracted

On May 31, the IDF Spokesman’s Office distributed a photo of a bearded Muslim man with a knife surrounded by reporters. Daylight was pouring in from a window or door behind the reporters. Offered without context or explanation, the photo played up a classic Orientalist stereotype of violent, fanatical, and even suicidal Muslims determined to kill Jews. It was included in an article based on testimony from anonymous commandos with the following title: "Israeli Navy Commandos: Gaza flotilla activists tried to lynch us."

The IDF apparently told Haaretz that the photo was taken immediately after its Naval commandos raided the Mavi Marmara and other flotilla ships — at least, that’s how Haaretz described the photo based on an IDF source. Yet the raid was conducted under the cover of darkness. How could a photo obviously taken during daytime have portrayed an event that took place during the late evening? Do Muslims have magical powers that allow them to turn night into day? And why were reporters standing around, casually taking photos when commandos were supposedly getting "lynched?" Once again, the IDF’s story was highly suspect.'

Attorney: Video Shows Police Fired Into Home

Police who carried out a raid on a family home that left a 7-year-old girl dead over the weekend were accompanied by a camera crew for a reality television show, and an attorney says video of the siege contradicts the police account of what happened.

Police have said officers threw a flash grenade through the first-floor window of the two-family home, and that an officer's gun discharged, killing the girl, during a struggle or after colliding with the girl's grandmother inside the home.

But Fieger said the video shows an officer lobbing the grenade and then shooting into the home from the porch.

"There is no question about what happened because it's in the videotape," Fieger said. "It's not an accident. It's not a mistake. There was no altercation."

Vatican to Claim Bishops are Not 'Employees'

The Vatican will today make its most detailed defence yet against claims that it is liable for US bishops who allowed priests to molest children, saying bishops are not its employees and that a document from 1962 did not require them to keep quiet.

The Vatican will make the arguments in a motion to dismiss a federal lawsuit on jurisdictional grounds filed in Louisville, Kentucky, but it could affect other efforts to sue the Holy See.

Jeffrey Lena, the Vatican's lawyer in the US, said the Vatican would assert that bishops are not its employees because they are not paid by Rome, don't act on Rome's behalf and are not controlled day-to-day by the pope — factors courts use to determine whether employers are liable for the actions of their employees.'

A high-ranking army officer from Saudi Arabia has been accused of planning an attack during the upcoming FIFA World Cup in South Africa, an Iraqi official says.

Baghdad security spokesman Major General Qassim Atta said Monday Colonel Abdullah al-Qahtani participated in the planning of a terrorist act in South Africa.

Iraqi police arrested Qahtani two weeks ago. He was also in charge of security for the terror network in Baghdad, General Atta said.'

Our Leaders Breached International Law and Committed War Crimes

There are many actors involved in this classic case of cross neglect. These ruthless men took advantage of a weak United Nations by carrying out under the table deals with a country that was under an embargo (South Africa). They made significant sums of money out of the deal and that money belonged to the British Taxpayer.

Before the hearing, she said that she could not understand why complaints against her were being heard.

But the chair of the GMC panel said there serious concerns about the potential risk to patients and her fitness to practice would continued to be reviewed.

One of the complaints was on the content of Dr Myhill's website, which warned patients against oral contraceptives, the MMR triple vaccine as well as mammogram tests and biopsies for cancer.

But Dr Mygill says she tries to find the causes of a disease, rather than treating the symptoms with drugs.'

MI5 Files Must be Kept From 7/7 Victims' Families, Coroner Told

Disclosing MI5 files about the July 7 suicide bombers to the families of those killed in the London attacks would be "impossible", counsel for the Security Service and the home secretary said today.

Investigating claims that MI5 could have prevented the 2005 atrocities would involve "handing over the keys" to MI5's Thames House headquarters, Neil Garnham QC told a hearing to decide the scope of the inquests into the bombings.

He said sensitive intelligence could be seen by the coroner and counsel to the inquests. However, any jurors would be subjected to intrusive vetting, he said, and neither the bereaved families nor their lawyers would be allowed to see it.'
