>> skinflint lighting
Obsessed with British vintage lighting restoration company SkinFlint Design, they specialize in industrial lighting from 1900-1960. I love everything they sell. Prices aren't terrible (all of the above are around $200 US), but you'll have to deal with high shipping costs.

>> six month long exposure
This dream-like photograph shows each phase of the sun over Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge taken over a six month period. Believe it or not, the image was captured on a pin-hole camera made from an empty can with a 0.25mm aperture and a single sheet of photographic paper. Photographer Justin Quinnell strapped the camera to a telephone pole and left it untouched between December 19, 2007 and June 21, 2008—the Winter and Summer solstices. Gorgeous.

>> vivienne westwood wallpaper
Today was the second time someone emailed me about British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood's new home line which includes wallpaper available at Cole & Son. Obviously the Union Jack steals the show, but there are some other great patterns too.

"This Clock" designed by Barnaby Tuke ($97) is made from beech composite and individually screen printed—and it might be my new favorite.

Coloured tumblers
I'm really digging these colored Moroccan tea glasses ($40 for six) which are handblown from recycled glass. The colors and shapes are so great or "pleasingly irregular" as the British store refers to them. This set would make a fantastic hostess gift.
This hot purple color is my favorite.

"Rusty Shapes" ornaments
It's that time of year again! How cool are these ornaments? They come in wreath, crown, escutcheon, tree, faith hope & charity and key shapes. I'm going to be honest with you, beyond the "wreath", "crown" and "key", I'm not sure I can tell you which is which. They're all about $5 each and you can get them right here.

2010 Calendar
I'm so excited for 2010! I just bought this really cool Crispin Finn 2010 calendar ($16). I can't wait to hang it in our new office and fill it with OTHER PEOPLE'S WEDDINGS. Yay!

Industrial Strength
I'm loving Tom Dixon's new screw table ($1200) that also comes in a side-table size. Heavy cast iron tripod + giant screw + marble slab = genius. And the best part is you can adjust the height lazy Susan style when ever you want. Available at ABC Carpet and Home.

Ink Posters
This poster ($58) with the Charlie Mingus quote, "Anyone can make the simple complicated. Creativity is making the complicated simple." really hit home with me this morning as I spent about an hour thinking about whether or not to use a stupid hyphen on an insignificant sentence. I have enough trouble just leaving the simple as simple—so as far as making the complicated simple—I'll leave that to artists and political talk shows.

Smythson of Bond Street
I split my day in thirds today spending the morning in L.A., mid-day in Orange County and ended up having dinner in San Diego. At this rate I guess I'll be in Tijuana by dawn. The highlight of the day was definitely going to the Beverly Hills Smythson store to order our wedding invites. The staff there is extremely patient and took great care of us, even after I completely changed my mind as we were walking out of the store and wanted to start over. I owe thanks to my friend Heather who suggested I check out Smythson (the British stationer) as she used them for her invites which turned out great (thanks Heather!). And for all those stationery fiends out there, if you haven't heard the sad news, Mrs. John L. Strong is officially out of business. :(

Present&Correct
Last night our apartment went from still livable to very very sad as we packed away lots of our favorite stuff. It's amazing how different a place can look by simply taking away all the books. It was especially hard to do since we have house guests coming this weekend for the Fourth, but I'm sure we'll survive for another week. Understandably it's been a little hard to get excited and inspired about furniture, but how great are these air mail envelopes and mail accessories from Present&Correct!? Now that's something I can relate to right now. And even more awesome are their colored masking tapes. (via Yellow Owl Workshop blog).

Re-finding RE-found
I've been looking back to some of my oldest and most favorite online shops this week and one that I had completely forgotten about, RE-found, has really added some great new products. The brick and mortar portion of the business is located in Corbridge, a small town in northeast England. There's no point attempting to shoehorn the range of RE's stock into a paragraph, but if you need a plaster Virgin Mary and a bottle of the best bubble bath in the world, this might be the place for you. Check out all their goods right here.
