Marvelous Monday!

Playing along with Cardabilities again! Their sketches are always so inspirational!
Contributing to the masculine feel of the card, I added a layer of cardboard and burlap. Dabbing a smidge of crackle paint here and there on the cardboard presented a bit of rustic feel.

I have a tendency to create a sunset or add snow when conjuring the background for the deer, but I have spring fever and added a few flowers to the grass with dot of stickles! I finished it off with a crinkly bow and rustic metal button.
I’ll be back soon with another layout!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Featuring LP Alternate kit

Well, I survived another week in the Big Scrapper House at Lifepreservers!! The “producers” are starting to add more and more fun twists! This week we were to chose door #1,2, or 3, Meaning we were choosing our own destination, without knowing what was behind the door. I really lucked out! I chose a door that did not give me immunity, but I was safe from eviction! My challenge for the week was to use a recycled product on my lo! Perfect for the recycling master!! I created this tree from cardboard, and the leaves from the Mountain Dew bottle were so fun to make, I just had to create some more!!
The cardstock, pattern papers, and stickers were from the August Alternate Kit at http://www.lifepreserversclub.com/

Coming soon… My layout from the TS contest. The dead line is tonight. Will I move on to the final round?

Another crazy scrappy week!

Can you believe it is the 1st of September all ready?! Where did August go!! Oh ya! I was scrappin’ away!! I did 10 layouts and 2 cards! I am such a slow scrapper that it has to be a record for me!

September 1st means there is a new challenge posted on http://www.scrapfit.blogspot.com/ today! Pop on over and see what my teammates have created.

Here is your challenge...
Follow this routine to a T
1. use 3 patterned papers
2: use 1 solid cardstock
3: hide your journaling
4: use at least 2 photos
5: use at least 1 star in your LO
6: use at least 2 different ribbons

I had to try out my new Herringbone emboss folder. Love that one!! It is perfect for all my masculine pages.

Last night was the deadline for round #4 on my TS contest. I made it in under the wire with two minutes to spare!! Whew ! My heart was pounding! That is way to close for my comfort! Hurry up and wait! We will find out this afternoon/evening who moves on and who’s been eliminated. Cross your fingers for me!

Layout must include:
- one picture only
- at least 3 leaves (can be an embellishment, stamped, handmade, cut from paper, real leaves etc)
- stitching - machine or hand stitching (no stamps, rubons or stickers)
- some recycled piece of packaging - plastic, hang tag, price tag, cardboard, etc. (describe in your description if it's not evident what you used)
- journaling of at least 50 words including "I am not willing to..."

Journaling reads:
What?! Two boys and no girls?! I love kids, and I always looked forward to my
babysitting jobs. I was ready to be a mom. I really didn’t care if my babies were boys or girls, be it dresses, dollies, and pigtails or dirt, trucks, and frogs. But nothing in this world could have prepared me for the two of you! The unimaginable that the two of would think of! The dangerously crazy things you‘ve done! Behind all of the extreme boyishness, you are both so sweetly sincere, over protective of your family and friends, and all around fun loving. All this time I thought it was me who was to be your teacher, and guide you into life. But in time, I can see that you have taught me so much more, and expanded my world to a place that I never would have explored on my own. It is a good thing that you gave me time to learn and to adjust a bit at a time. I have even learned to appreciate your worlds of gun infatuation, military, and tattoos, 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, and paintballs! There is definitely no girliness in my world. No pink dancing princess with pigtails. No glitz, glamour, and bling. But I’m not willing to trade one minute of my life with you in exchange for a daughter!

I stitched the grid background.

From the photo I used :
Mt Dew bottle - leaves (I cut leaf shapes from the plastic and melted them with a heat gun to form a little texture
Orange pop case - leaves
Manila envelope - leaves (wet, scrunched, and inked)
Unionbay tag - leaves
Urban Pipline tag - I used the string for the apple stems
Prima packaging - the layer around the photo
Hollister shopping bag - leaves , burgundy layer (inside of bag), journaling strips (outside of bag)and basket ( I unraveled the handle and used the burgundy layer for leaves, and the kraft layer to weave the basket)
Another tag was used to make the strip and handles on the basket, but I don’t remember the brand name

Whew! Not only did I make it through another week in our BSH contest at Lifepreservers, I won a prize!! Wohoo! $10 off a future order. It’s a good thing to because Von has some awesome kits coming up in October. I finally had it narrowed down to two but really couldn’t make up my mind. Now I will just get them both! My challenge for the week is to scrap some recycling! Think I have that one mastered now!! He he I am off to dig in the recycling bin to see what else I can find!!

Super Sunday!

Wow! Can you believe that it is already the 9th of August?! Trying to keep up with time can be exhausting….no wonder I feel so old some days!! LOL!

Less than 24 hours to upload our layouts for the TS contest. I know I said wasn’t going to compete this time, but I decided last minute to give it a whirl. I finished my lo this afternoon. Now, to upload, then cross my fingers that I make it to the next round! I’m going to make you wait until after tomorrow to peek though! I promise it will be worth the wait!!

Don’t forget to check out the challenge, and post your lo in the gallery for a great prize over at Scrapfit.blogspot.com! A new challenge will be coming at the end of the week.

I created my first Christmas card of the season!

Lots of distressing and ink! For the swirl, I painted white, then inked with both brown and blue, then ending with a few blue distress stickles. To the snowflake, I added paint to just the tips, then applied a heavy coat of diamond stickles….love that stuff!! I finished off the card with a few silver and copper rubbons to add a little pizzazz!

Thanks for stopping by!

I had the best weekend! A good friend of mine invited me to a crop. It was the first real crop I have been to, can you believe that?! I had a fabulous time! We participated in a couple make-’n-takes but I forgot to get permission to post them. However, I made a different card to share! I got the directions from
http://sluman.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2009/01/25/flower-pot-pocket-card/

Another Reminder: Entries are due July 31st for the big Treasured Scrapbooking Contest! Get yours in now! No, I am not playing along this time. I have to much going on right now to make the commitment.

Thanks for stopping!

another happy scrappy day!

Another happy day in my little scrappy world! First I opened the newsletter from Treasured Scrapbooking to discover that DT member Karen, selected my layout for a lift, (btw, hers is absolutely beautiful) then gave a super nice plug, to my gallery! What a sweet surprise!!http://reallifeinpictures.blogspot.com/2009/07/lift-lane-inspired-by-jodi.html

Later in the afternoon, I find out I’ve been selected to design for scrapFIT!! Yay! I am sooo excited to get started! Yes, I am well aware of the fact that I should shed a few pounds, but that is not what this is all about! This is a new challenge board, where the main objective is to scrap our sporty/outdoorsy photos. Over the years, I have accumulated quite a few photos from wrestling, hunting, 4 wheelers, wrestling, baseball, wrestling, fishing, snowmobiling, oh, and did I mention wrestling?! For some reason, I have a tendency to overlook these photo when I scrap. Hurray for my new incentive!! The first challenge goes up on the board August 1st! Come and check us out!

So, you are wondering how the LP crop went? Awesome!!! The Design Team had some great challenges, and super fab make ‘n takes. If you weren’t able to participate over the weekend, never fear, you can still check out the board and do everything for fun. Seriously, that has to be one of the best crops ever!!! I didn’t get a chance to participate in many of the games or challenges yet, but all in all, it was a productive weekend.

First of all, I finally got the shelves hung and everything put away in my office/scrap room. It almost looks good enough to call a studio!

I did complete two of the challenges. The first was a sketch/recipe where we needed doodling, handwriting, rubon, and a summery photo. My layout doesn’t resemble her sketch much, but it was my inspiration!

The second challenge was to scrap a “bad” photo. The photo I chose is my grandmothers graduation photo. It is actually a photo of a bad scan of an old photo! It is precious, none the less!

I sprayed the flourish with glimmer mist, then double layered with pop dots. The tissue paper flower was made for one of the make ‘n takes.

Check out these cards! These were inspired by Sandra. First, she showed us how to create a flower with mini paper cones….of course I had to add my own twist and create the cones from scalloped circles instead of plain circles…..they are cute though, aren’t they?!

And last but not least, my favorite project of the weekend, this fun cupcake card! I cut my pattern of the cupcake from Doodlecharm Cricut cartridge. I used core’dinations cardstock for the bottom. I embossed the lines, then sanded them. I used brads and stickles for the “sprinkles” on the frosting. I put a small craft wire between the candle and flame to make it stand out just a bit. I found a rubon saying "Savor the day" How fun is that?!

Thanks for stopping by!!
See you later in the week!
