Wishing my self for 2020 - CSi case file nw. 306

A new year, a new month - a new challenge at CSI - case file no. 306:
I was inspired by the inspiration photo and the colors and made a lo of what I wish for myself for the new year. I mimicked the pedestal in the inspiration photo.
The clues I used are: floral pattern, dots, flowers, leaves, scallops, hearts, butterflies, pedestal.
I put my journaling in an envelope - inspiration cards with a list of my wishes on the back:
Happy New Year to you!

MIni Album with Graphic 45 papers - GD for Mini Album Makers blog

I was invited to be a Guest Designer at Mini Album Makers blog, and today I'm up over there with this gorgeous mini album.

It's a super quick and fun mini album, you can easily make in an hour or so, using one cardstock or designer paper and some DP and embellishments.  The size of this mini album is 5 1/8" x 3 7/8", and it can hold up to 15 small photos plus some journaling tags.  You can either make it as a mini album that stands for itself, or as an insert in a larger mini album, to document separate events or trips, etc.
For a long time I've been intrigued by the concept of 'One Sheet Wonder (OSW)' to make a mini album or an insert that holds a few photos, and I searched Pinterest for ideas.  There are many tutorials, with many variations of OSW, and I decided to use this tutorial by Claudia.  The measurements are in cm, so if you need the instructions to be in inches, you can use this tutorial, which has a table of measurements in inches.

I used papers from a very beautiful Graphic 45 collection - 'Portrait of a Lady'.  For the base I used 12x12 DP (these papers are so thick, and it's perfect for mini albums!) and for the decoration I've used some 8x8 papers, fabric flowers, lace flowers, eyelets and baker's twine.

My mini album is a little different from the original one, as I wantd it to hold more photos, so I did some flaps and pockets, and also made a booklet.  I could do it easily since the construction had gussets of 1/4".

You can see that I've added a small pocket on the outer part of the middle section:

And a little decoration I adhered partially, so it can hold a journaling tag and a small tag for date etc.

And the booklet:

A tip: when making a mini album based on folds and flaps, without a hinge, keep your embellishments in the inner part of the mini flat, otherwise you won't be able to close it properly.

You can close the mini album either with a ribbon (make sure to adhere it to the base before you decorate the front and back cover.  Another option is to use magnets to close the album (again, make sure to put the magnets before decoration the base.

Here are some close-ups:

I hope you'll give this mini album a try. If you do, let me know so I can come and look and leave you some love.
Thank you for visiting my blog. Your comments are much appreciated.

BFF - lo

It's Friday again!!!! and it means a new challenge at Frosted Designs. This week we ask you to distress your creations. I just love distressing! It's my no.1 favorite technique.
On this lo I used a lot of distressing - the edges of the pp, of the photo and of the dp underneath the photo (BG and K&Co.), the doilies, the butterflies.

I used the sketch from creative scrappers, this week's challenge at Sketches In Thyme (yep! I combined my two DT's jobs... LOL). Here's the sketch:

The flower was made of fabric and covered with green stickles, and was layered on a felt flower. The letters of the title are also felt.

The photo is of my BF and me. We're friends for over 20 years, ever since we met at the university. Our friendship is one of the best things in my life, which I'm very thankful for.

Now it's your turn to show us your distressing at Frosted Designs. Go and look at what the uber talented ladies over there made for this challenge. Awesome projects!
And while you're there, why not play with us with Diana's sketch? It's here here here! We'd love to see your take on it (not to mention the fabie prize you can win! but you have to play for the chance to win it...).

I'm entering this lo to the following challenges:
fuzzy - mami doodles
texture - critter sketch
open plus a butterfly - flutterby wednesday
old and new goodies - Julie's challenge (the basis dp and the doillies are oldie - I have them more than a year, since I started card making; the BG dp is a new goodie I just bought recently).
wings (plus BG's products) - basic grey (one of the dp is from Oliver line)
show us your style - fresh brewed (mine is surely distressing)
distressing - a spoon full of sugar
thankful/thank you - the sisterhood of crafters; the crazy challenge; for fun; scrap that poetry (the poem "A prayer for The Great Family" by Gary Snyder; ann's creative nook

Thank you for stopping by!

As Time Goes By....

It's Tuesday and that means a new sketch challenge at Frosted Designs!!  This time the sketch was done by our talented Diana, and here it is:

Now, isn't it a great sketch?!

I made this lo also for the movie poster inspiration at From Screen 2 Scrap, which was Casablanca!!! Here is the poster for the inspiration:

This is my no.1 favorite movie of all times! I love the romantic scenes, the love beyound time, the superb acting (I just love Humphrey Bogart & Ingrid Bergman!), the music and everything about this movie. And so the title was taken from the unforgettable song, As Time Goes By...
I took one of my parents' wedding photos, and I used Webster's Pages & 7 Gypsies' dp.
Here are some close-ups:

I used some glitter to higlight certain parts on the dp, to outline my parants figures, and on the wooden clock.  The left plastic flower is topped on a fabric layered flower I made myself and I spread some glitter on it. I also used chipboards (the aeroplane on the envelope, the year, and on top of the music notes dp, some rub-ons (the heart and 'love' on the clock), postage stamp, some lace trims, and a butterfly.
I cut part of the dp, so I could slide some of the paper doily and the lace under it, and to give some 3-d look.
The envelope is self-made , and inside I've put a note, telling the story of how my parents met. Here is a close-up of the opened envelope:

Go and see what the talented ladies at Frosted Designs made for this challenge. Now it's your turn to play along and you have a chance to win this fabulous prize:

But you have to play for the chance to win it!

I'm entering my lo also for the following challenges:
butterfly - ellephantastic
lots of everything - paper romance
music - incy wincy
DIY - if the shoe fits (the envelope, the fabric flower on the left)
distressing - a spoon full of sugar
whatever makes you happy - simonsays stamp and show (old family photos, distressing, flowers)
more is more - stampin sisters in christ
Thank you for the time you took to visit me!
