Another card for Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper October challenge

This is my second card for my Craftyhazelnut's Paper October challenge - please click on the link to see what it's all about and, hopefully, use your patterned papers to join in the challenge. There is a lovely prize to be won:

a Dovecraft curiosity corner 6" x 6" designer paper pack
72 sheet pack - 6 sheets of 12 designs

Once again I used a piece of the Dovecraft curiosity paper, simply adding a variety of garden stickers (they look much better in real life because the silver and gold don't really show up here) and a sentiment.

Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper October challenge

This is my first card for my Craftyhazelnut's Paper October challenge - please click on the link to see what it's all about and, hopefully, use your patterned papers to join in the challenge. There is a lovely prize to be won:

a Dovecraft curiosity corner 6" x 6" designer paper pack

So I used some of the paper for this card and the next (from a different pack, of course - bought one to use and one to give away). I layered two doilies on to which I put a decoupaged Docrafts 'Daisy' cut out and a gold foiled Craftwork cards circle sentiment.

CHNC challenge extra for October 2014

It's quite frightening how the weeks go by so quickly and we are now entering October - with only twelve weeks to Christmas Eve!! Can you believe it?! If you haven't yet started making your Christmas time, now is the time to do so, as those weeks will go very quickly.

So this is my design card for my CHNC challenge extra for October. As is always the case, the challenge is being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps who kindly supplied the steps Christmas image that I've used, colouring it digitally in Paint, with the sentiments added digitally.

Papers are from my Christmas offcuts box, poinsettias from Hobbycraft.

Cheerful stamp pad challenge 96

This is my design card for today's Cheerful stamp pad challenge 96 for the next fortnight - please click the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team - and we would love you to join in our challenge, which, once again, is sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps.

I printed and coloured the image kindly supplied from the Stitchy Bear Alipeeps Art Kostume Kidz character set, tearing around the edges to mount on to the black paper, which had been printed with the white saying, the ship and treasure chest, all of which had been added digitally. Everything was then mounted on to a black card blank.

The glory of Christmas challenge 43: fireplace/fire/chimney

This is my design card for The Glory of Christmas challenge 43: fireplace/fire/chimney. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and we would love to see your entries for the challenge which will last for the next fortnight.

For my design card I've used a large A5 tent opening card blank on to which I've matted some Papaermania Christmas snowflake vellum held top and bottom with some reindeer washi tape. The image of Santa about to go down the chimney is an old Kanban one which has an acetate overlay printed with the same picture which gives a bit of depth to the picture. The acetate is secured in place with the brads. I had to take the picture at an angle otherwise there was glare on the acetate.

CHNC challenge 196: make it colourful

Saturday has come round again with its usual speed, so it's time for CHNC challenge 196: make it colourful.

For this I've made two similar cards, using a Bugaboo image coloured with spectrum noir pens. Background papers and the torn pieces are from My Mind's Eye 12 days of Christmas paper pad.

I made two cards so that I could enter them for Sarn's Rudolph Day

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 48

This is my design card for Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 48: anything goes with a splash of red. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and join in our challenge.

I used Paper Pretties 'warm winter wishes' (kindly supplied by PP who are sponsoring), coloured with spectrum noir pens, having cut around the circular image with a scalloped edged nestie run through my cuttlebug. I think I went a bit overboard with the red considering that we were asked to use 'a splash of red', but, hey ho ... you don't have to include so much red if you don't want to.

The background paper is Echo Park 'very merry Christmas' with a Craftwork card sentiment circle.

Completely Christmas challenge 31

This is my design card for Completely Christmas 31, where 'anything goes' as long as it's Christmas. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and we would love you to join in the challenge.

I decided to use a large tag shaped card (I have a few of these that have been neglected for a long time). I had already identified a piece of paper I wanted to go behind my Sparkle n Sprinkle 'snow family' by Beccy Muir image (Sparkle n Sprinkle are sponsoring the challenge) ... and I found that even though the Forever Friends paper was 8 x 8 it wasn't quite long enough for the card blank, so I had to chop off the bottom and round the corners and some tricky cutting around the top of the card, which I then brushed with stormy sky distress ink, using this on the image panel as well.

Buckwells Crafty challenges

I was so excited and privileged to be asked to be on the design team for Buckwells Crafty challenge. The design team are introducing themselves today, so please click on the link and start to get to know them and find out about the monthly challenges that will start on 1 October.

Lozzy has started the challenge blog, having launched her online shop Buckwell Craft Supplies. Please have a look there and I think you will be tempted to buy some of the very reasonably priced goodies that Lozzy is selling.

I've had fun today making my first design card ready for the challenge launch on 1 October, but, of course, I can't show anything now ... but I might just hint that ribbon might be involved.

Hope to see you at Buckwells Crafty challenge.

Tear it to pieces

'Tear it to pieces' is the theme for today's new challenge on the Sweet pea stampers blog. Please click on the link to see the amazing designs of the rest of the team and we would love you to get tearing and join in our challenge.

This is my design card using Joanne Schempp's Mercedes stamp, inked with memento tuxedo black and coloured with spectrum noir pens. I then tore round the image and distressed with salty ocean DI. The two papers used underneath were from my scraps box - I tore the edges and added a piece of ribbon to the striped BG cupcake snippet.

WOYWW 277

I can't believe it - I started a post for this earlier today, came back to it when family had gone ... and I accidentally deleted it ...  couldn't even get a cache copy to rescue it because it hadn't actually been published ... first time I've done that!

Anyway, my brother and SIL came to have lunch with us and spend the afternoon -they went to get mum from the home so we all had the time together. Enjoy lunch and then went up to the summerhouse in the garden for a cuppa - took these just before they left:

The real reason I'm here for this post is for WOYWW 277 (if you don't know what this is, click the link, find out and join in ... be warned: you will become addicted!).

I thought I'd show what I bought at Ally Pally Big Stamp & Scrapbooking Show on Saturday (I won a ticket and managed to get there after quite a few years of not going). When I did the original post I went into a bit of detail about the items, but now I'm just going to show the picture (you're probably glad about that to save lots of reading). I've just remembered that I'd already put some stuff away - more distress ink pads to add to my collection and the new round applicator and pads that look like a better idea than the rectangular ones (we shall see).

The next picture shows what postie brought me. On top if a prize I won for a challenge and underneath is an envie full of ribbons - a little sneaky peek - sent for me to use some for my card for the first challenge on Buckwells crafty challenge blog which will start on 1 October. I am very privileged and excited to have been asked to be on the design team.

Thanks everyone who visited for last week's WOYWW and for your comments. For those interested in my progress with the Scan n Cut I made a couple of snowflake easel cards that you can see here.

Oh ... and I haven't got any further with sorting and putting my unmounted stamps into the wallets I showed last week ... it will be done ... some time!

Cheerful stamp pad challenge 95 second week

This is my design card for the second week of Cheerful stamp pad challenge 95: a birthday card. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and join in our challenge here.

I used Stitchy Bear's 'happy happy' digi, kindly supplied by them as sponsors.

I coloured with spectrum noir pens, mounted on to a piece of silver mirror card and then matted on to a patterned paper with a cut out pink and silver border created with a Martha Stewart punch, with just snippets of pink and white spotted ribbon.

Winter wonderland

Christine chose 'winter wonderland' for this fortnight's theme for the Christmas Card Club. I had hoped to have a card ready for this for the beginning of the day, but it didn't happen. For a start, I was poorly for a couple of days (which is why there was no blogging between Wednesday and yesterday) and then when I was, thankfully, feeling better yesterday I had a rare day out and went to the Big Stamp and Scrapbooking Show at Ally Pally.

I'm glad that I waited because in the end I decided to experiment a bit more with my new Scan n Cut. I found a snowflake easel card file on Bird's Cards the other day and saved it to a USB stick thinking that I might have a go at making it some time. When I was thinking of 'winter wonderland' I remembered the snowflake template and thought now was a good time to give it a try.

I admit that a first attempt went into the bin, partly because I didn't have the blade setting high enough to cut through the card cleanly enough (scared of having the blade setting too high and cutting through the mat) and partly because I glued the wrong bit together.

In the end I succeeded in cutting the template on a piece of DCWV textured blue card and also on a patterned brown card with glittered snowflakes. This meant that I had supplies to make two cards. I found up two brown sentiment ovals, one of which I backed with some of the blue card and raised these with foam pads to make stoppers.

Many thanks to Bird's Cards for sharing this template (and lots of others) so freely.

CHNC challenge 195: 20 minutes or less

The idea of today's CHNC challenge 195 is to make a Christmas card or other Christmas creation in 20 minutes or less, having got all supplies together first.

For this card I've used a deer image that came as part of a kit with a magazine, using the embossing folder that came with it to emboss around the image, swiping this with stazon teal blue. I also used the stazon to ink a sentiment oval to match. This took me less than 15 minutes - perfect for the challenge and for making a quick card.

WOYWW 276

I'm becoming addicted all over again - having had a break from WOYWW, I went back again a couple of weeks ago ... and, of course, I'm hooked again! Thank you, everyone, who visited me and left comments last week.

If you don't know what I'm talking about (is there anyone left in crafting blogland that doesn't know?) then click on the link for WOYWW 276 and find out what it's all about ... on one condition, that you show us your workspace too!

So, here we go - to the left of where I sit - a few piles that are waiting to be sorted/used, some cards that were made and blogged yesterday (in posts under this if you wish to have a peep, but I warn you that for two of them you need your sunglasses on - lol!). By the side of the blue box there's a pile of unmounted stamps waiting to be stored and behind the half mug of coffee (drinking as I type)  is a pack of CD sleeves that have arrived this morning - just right for that size of stamp - I've already stored most, but needed additional sleeves - might show the finished job ... whenever that will be!

To the right of where I see there's my Scan n Cut and I have to confess that it hasn't been used since last Wednesday's WOYWW - and the lattice cuts are still waiting to be used - I've found some possible papers ... but still waiting for inspiration. You can see a pile of A6 cards - for ages now I've been making mainly square cards, but I have some charity sales coming up in October and some people like to buy the A6 cards because they're a bit cheaper, so I need to get on and use some of those. Do you like my pull out shelf with my box of goodies all to hand? This used to be my pen storage placed upright before I replaced it with the present storage that you can see in the photo above.

And in front of me - what the postman brought me this morning - three different packages - just like Christmas! The pack of CD sleeves to house my unmounted stamps, a metal adapter plate to use with my eBosser and some tattered lace dies and poinsetties from Hobbycraft (had a 15% off code, so it would have been rude not to have used it). Stephanie Weightman said on Create & Craft that she gives permission for her dies to be used to cut and scan with the Scan n Cut, so that's what I'm planning to do ... and then sell the dies, so watch out for some bargains once I've done that.

That's my coffee all gone, so now it's time to hit the Publish button and start to visit other blogs to see what's won the workdesk today. Hope you will join us.

Just blue

The card blank was already decorated (same on the back as well). I added some silver glitter strip, corrugated strip (Poundland) the the image stamped on to an offcut of striped paper, then matted on to pearlescent and then mirror card. The image is Penny Black 'letters and flowers'.

Playing with washi tapes

I think there should be a warning on this one to put your sunglasses on! I recently bought quite a few reels of bright neon coloured washi tape and decided I would put some on a bright orange card blank with a snippet piece of bright pink pearlescent card from corner to corner and use a bright pick sentiment panel - I think it works quite well.
