Have A Magical Birthday- a mixed media card

Hi!

How are you all today?  I am guesting over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog this month and have a project to share!  The inspiration was really fun:

I love the pastel colors and all the texture!  Here is what I made:

I know, I could have went with the Easter theme but I didn't start with the stamps- I started with a triangle shaped Gelli Plate!  I loaded it up with some springtime colored Distress Paints and stamped a background.  I also played around with a pattern scraper.  It added some texture to the triangle impressions.  Once those were dry, I cut the paper down to card front size and added some texture paste with one of my Teresa Collins stencils.  I also gave it a good splattering of gold mist to add some shimmer.

Once it was done, I knew I had to pull out Waffle Flower's Magical Stamp Set! I stamped out the horse and added her wings.  I cut her out and then added some a soft shading of color along her main and tail.  I also added some sparkle to her wings with a Wink of Stella pen.  You can see some of the details here:

I stamped the first part of the sentiment onto vellum with Staz On ink.  Then I used the Magical Word Die to cut out the second part.  I cut it out of black cardstock and covered it in black Elizabeth Crafts glitter.  It gives off a lot of sparkle in real life!

I'm so glad I got to play along with the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge this month!  Pop over to check out what their design team created!  I hope you'll play along too-  Waffle Flower Crafts is sponsoring the prize this month so if you play along, there is a chance to win a gift certificate to the Waffle Flower Store!

Have a great day!

Hello!  I have a Watch It Wednesday video up on the Waffle Flower Crafts Blog today!  Pop over there to check it out- I went with a fun, imperfect, mixed media look. :)

My card features the Doily Circle Stamp Set and the small tag from Surface- Tag Die- Starter Kit.  I love it when I get to play with my distress paints!  Here's a closer look:

Be sure to pop over to the Waffle Flower Blog to see this technique in action!  It is pretty easy and not too messy either!  A great way to jump into the mixed media look :)

A Succulent Mini Canvas

Good morning!

Today I'm sharing a mini canvas I made for Waffle Flower Crafts' Watch It Wednesday Series.  It is so tiny!  Only 2x4 inches :)  I added magnets to the back so I could hang it on my fridge.

The tiny size was so fun to create on!  The tall succulent stamp from the Planted Stamp Set fit perfectly!  I used all sorts of fun supplies for this one!  It has lots of layers and different textures going on.  Here is a look at the details:

I created a video as I went to document the step-by-step process as well:

I am really enjoying the mixed media projects this month! It's always fun to try something different, right? :)

Waffle Flower and Faber-Castell Inspiration Week and a Challenge Card

Good morning!  How was your weekend?  We packed so many things into our weekend that I am actually relieved it's Monday!  Lol!  Even with work and school, the routine will be nice.  If your kids play sports, you probably feel the same way!

Today's being Monday is fun anyways because I am sharing a mixed media project for the Waffle Flower and FAber-Castell Inspiration Week!  Here is a sneak peek- the full project is on the Waffle Flower Blog today:

The piece is a 6x12" canvas with lots of layering and color!  It was fun doing something different than my normal cards :)

Speaking of normal cards, I am also playing along with the new Waffle Flower Challenge!  It's also on the Waffle Flower Blog today :) Here is the inspiration photo:

And here is the card I made:

I loved the colors in the photograph and of course the daisies!  I've been so inspired by the Bloom Stamp Set and Dies lately!  I used the Summer Blend Ink Pad's #14-Sunshine for the centers.  I also incorporated a doily with the Doily Circle Die.  The sentiment was stamped on vellum to create a soft layer over the top of all that color!

The daisies are so addicting to stamp and cut out!  lol!  There were a lot of them on today's projects- weren't there? :)  They are such a happy flower!

I hope you'll have time to play along with us this time!  Pop over to the Waffle Flower Blog to check out more inspiration from our awesome design team!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope your Monday is off to a great start!

Celebrate 2015 Card

Hello!  It's my day to share on the SRM blog so I thought I'd share here, too!  I've created a card perfect for ringing in the new year:

I created a bright and messy mixed media background for this one- mixing stamps from Simon Says Stamps and Tim Holtz for a fun look.  I stamped the balloons first, in bold pinks, yellows, and turquoise inks.  Next, I pulled out some paints and dabbed them on to a craft mat.  I sprayed it with water and dragged my card front through it.  It softened the balloons and gave the card a fun, messy look.  I added some splatters with a few different mists and let it all dry.

When it was dry, I stamped some stars with a silver metallic ink and the clock with a waterproof black ink.  I also added some shading around the clock with a light gray marker.  I pulled out some washi tape next and added a few strips to the bottom portion of the card front.

I cut a strip of vellum and wrapped it around my card, adhering the ends together inside with a bit of washi tape.  I adhered the 2015 strip from the Year of Memories 2015 sheet first, lining up the bottom edge of the sticker with the edge of the vellum.  The sentiment from Sticker Sentiments- Congratulations came next.  I lined it up just above the 2015 strip.

To finish this card off, I wrapped some Solid Lilac Baker's Twine around the card and finished in a bow.  I added a sprinkling of sequins, too!  You gotta have a little sparkle on New Years, right? :)

Thanks for joining me today!
