Craftsulove - May Card and Tutorial

Morning everyone ðŸ’œ

This week's Craftulove card and tutorial is using the gorgeous Craft Consortium 12" x 12" paper pad 'Tell The Bees' and a 'Best Wishes' sentiment die from Creative Expressions, plus some of the gorgeous metallic card from Tim Holtz. I hope you enjoy the tutorial, if you have any questions please let me know. x

All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did
1. Open the inside cover of the 12” x 12” pad and cut off the embellishment page. Cut out the 2 large hexagons.

2. Draw around both of the cut out hexagons onto a piece of the pale gold metallic card leaving a border around the edge, and then cut them both out. Mount the hexagons onto the cut out shapes, and add clear glitter to the bees and crowns.

3. Remove a sheet of the honeycomb patterned paper from the pad. Trim the sheet down to cover the front of the 6” x 6” card blank leaving a slim border around the edge, and then attach it.

4. Cut a strip of black card to ¼” x 6” and attach it on the left hand side of the card front.

5. Die cut the ‘Best Wishes’ sentiment from black card, and glue it to the bottom of the card front.

6. Add foam pads on either side of the backs of the hexagon panels, then stick them above each other on the card front over the top of the black strip.

7. Cut out 2 of the large bees from the sheet and add glitter to their wings. Glue one of the bees flat onto the card front and attach the other to the hexagon panels using a foam pad.

8.  To complete the card add 3 gems to the black strip below the hexagon panels.

Craftsulove Design Team - May Card #1

Morning everyone ðŸ’œ

The Craftsulove and the Design Team are changing how they do things, so instead of us sharing our project each month we will instead, be on a 3 month rolling rota. So this month it's my turn, and I'm sharing the first of my May cards with you, and I've used the beautiful Craft Consortium 12" x 12" paper pad 'Tell The Bees', a rubber stamp called 'Texture Bees ' from Stamperia, a 'Best Wishes die from Creative Expressions, and the gorgeous metallic card from Tim Holtz. Anyhow I hope you like it. x

All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did
Firstly I trimmed down a piece of the patterned paper to 4¾" x 6¾"and covered the front of my black 5" x 7" top fold card blank. I added gold glitter pen to the bees on the patterned paper.

Using a stamping platform I stamped out the text/bee stamp with brown distress ink first, then while it was still in place I stamped it again using black ink. I did this as I felt it made the black ink a little warmer. When the ink was dry I trimmed down the stamped panel and added gold glitter pen in places, this was then mounted onto gold metallic card and then onto the card front.

The 'best wishes' sentiment was die cut 4 times - 3 times from black card and once from gold card, all the layers were then glued together and added to the card front over the top of the panel. To complete the card I added 3 small gems to the bottom of the card.

Craftsulove Design Team - April Tutorial & Card #2

Hi everyone ðŸ’œ

Today I'm sharing my April Craftulove Design Team card and tutorial with you. Sorry it's a little late but I've been on a week's cruise to Scandinavia with my daughter; we had a fabulous time. We ate, drank, walked, talked, laughed....and danced. I now have what I like to call 'disco knees', as they're aching and sore. Lol

Anyhow back to my card,  I used the pretty word edger die by Creative Expressions and the Metallic card by Tim Holtz. For my card I used 3 of the different coloured sheets in the pad. The metallic card in the pad is backed with kraft card and the colours are lovely and muted. Anyhow I hope you like my card. All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did

I used a 7" x 7" card blank, 3 sheets of the metallic card (peacock blue, green and gold), the 'For You' and 'Best Wishes' die and 3 yellow gems.

1. Trim the peacock blue and green metallic card to 5¾” x 5¾”.

2. Attach the peacock blue card to the front of the 7" x 7" card blank.

3. Using the green metallic card measure both sides to 3” from the bottom and lightly mark with a pencil. Lay the sentiment edger die across the card and die cut.

4. Carefully remove top section of the die cut and adhere it to the card front over the top of the peacock blue card.

5. Die cut the sentiment again from gold metallic card. Leave the pieces in the die until they are needed to avoid the small pieces getting lost.

6. Next, carefully add glue to the wells in the green metallic card die cut lettering  one by one, and insert the same piece of lettering that was cut from the gold card (that were left in in the die). Do each piece in turn until the bottom section is complete (as shown below).

7. Cut a strip of the same gold card and add double sided sticky paper to the back, then die cut the ‘Best Wishes’ sentiment. Peel the protective sheet on the back and attach it to the bottom of the card front.

8. To complete the card add 3 gems to the top left of the card.

TIPS
#1 – When die cutting the ‘For You’ sentiment and the ‘Best Wishes’ turn the card and die 45° so that it cuts vertically. It makes the card easier to cut as there’s less cutting points.

#2 - To avoid getting dents and marks in your metallic card when die cutting - lay a piece of copier paper over the top of the card and die to protect it before running it through your machine.

Craftsulove Design Team - April Card #1

Hi everyone ðŸ’œ

Today I'm sharing the first of my April Craftulove Design Team cards with you. This month I received a lovely word edger die by Creative Expressions and Metallic paper pad (technically it's mirror/kraft card) by Tim Holtz, which I teamed it up with Julie Hickey's sentiment stamp set and a few distress oxide inks. Anyhow I hope you like my card. x

All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did
Firstly I trimmed down a piece white card on to 4½" x 7" then applied and blended 3 distress oxide ink - Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry and Candied Apple. I repeatedly apply and blended the ink until I was happy with the result, then I sprayed and splattered water over the top top activate the ink. I used a paper towel to take off the excess water. When it was dry, I attached it to the card front.

Next I trimmed down some of the beautifully rose coloured mirror card to 4" x 7". I placed the die at the height where there would be plenty of card at the bottom as well as at the top where the cut out would be. and ran it thought my manual die cutting machine. Tip - I found it better to cut the die and card vertically. Once it was cut out I snipped away the 2 side sections so it would release the cut out portion at the top of  the edger.  This was attached to the bottom section of the card front.

Using the same ink blend as before I made a small banner and stamped the word 'mother' onto it in black ink; this was attached to the card front using foam pads. To complete the card I added 3 small gems to the banner.

Craftsulove Design Team - March Tutorial and Card #2

Morning everyone 💜

Today I'm sharing the last of my March Craftulove Design Team cards with you for March plus a tutorial. This week I've again used the Pinkfresh Studios stamp set and Julie Hickey sentiment stamp set but combined them with white embossing powder to create a resist and some distress oxide inks. The final effect was really pretty as the flowers also look distressed.  I hope you like my tutorial and card. If you would like me to create a tutorial covering another crafty technique why not let me know in the comments. x

All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did

1. From a sheet of black A4 card create a 5¼” x 5¼” card blank.

2. Trim down a piece of white card to 5½” x 5½”. Using a stamping press arrange a few of the stamps and leaves on the card so they lay on and off the card. Close the lid to pick up the stamps.

3. Dust the white card with an anti-static bag to help eliminate residue from finger prints and grease. Apply versamark ink to the stamps, close the lid and stamp them onto the white card. Sprinkle white embossing powder over the top. Carefully remove any stray particles using a fine paint brush.

4. Melt the embossing powder using a heat tool.

5. Using the stamping tool again turn the card 90° and repeat steps 3-6. Continue to stamp the flowers and heat emboss until all the areas are filled.

Tip – If the card is very warped, place it under a pile of book or run it through a die cutting machine to flatten it.

6. Apply 3 different distress oxides to the card using an applicator.
Tip – When you apply the ink use a piece of card to rest your hand on, this will protect your work from fingerprints.

(a) Apply the first colour (Wild Honey) to the bottom of the card.

(b) Add the 2nd colour (Worn Lipstick) next to the first and blend where they meet.

(c) Add the 3rd colour (Candied Apple) at the top and blend this with the 2nd colour.

Repeat the application of the inks blending where each colour meets until you are happy with the result.

7. When the ink is dry wipe the surface over with a soft cloth or a paper towel to remove the ink from the embossing flowers and leaves.

Tip - If the ink is stubborn, slightly dampen the cloth first or use a damp baby wipe.

8. Spritz and flick water over the surface of the card, and dry off the excess with a paper towel.

9. Attach the panel to the front of the card blank leaving a slim border around the edge.

10. Stamp the sentiment on black card using versamark ink. Sprinkle white embossing powder over the top and heat emboss it.

11. Trim down the sentiment to create a banner and cut off the end at an angle. Add this to card front using foam pads.

12. To complete the card add 3 gems to the sentiment banner.

Craftsulove Design Team - March Card #1

Morning everyone 💜

Today I'm sharing the first of my March Craftulove Design Team cards with you. This month I received a Pinkfresh Studios stamp set and Julie Hickey sentiment stamp set. I have to admit to being a little out of my comfort zone, as I'm more of stamp and colourist so as there was no colouring to do I was a little lost. But as the stamps are so beautiful it didn't take lost to be inspired. Anyhow I hope you like my final project. x

All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did
I trimmed down a piece white card on to 4¾" x 6¾". I stamped 3 sets of the branches in green ink along with some small flowers in yellow, pink and blue ink. Next I stamped the sentiments using black ink. TIP - To make it easy to layout the design I first stamped the flowers and leaves onto copier paper and loosely cut them out so I could decide on their placement.

When the ink was dry the stamped panel was attached to the front of a 5" x 7" top fold card blank. Using pink and lilac ink two of the larger flowers and two of the smaller flowers were stamped onto white card and fussy cut out. The flowers were then added to the card front using foam pads. One of the large flowers and one small were raised up higher than the other two by adding more foam pads, this was to give them extra dimension. To completed the card a few small gems and pearls were added.

Tip - If you find you get pooling with the stamps depending on the ink you use, rub them over with an eraser or with an light sandpaper like an emery board.

The image was coloured in using Copic pens and added to a die cut square cut from black card. The leaves that were cut off earlier by the die cut were stamped again, coloured using Copic pens and fussy cut out. Craftsulove Design Team - November #3

Morning everyone 💜

Today I'm sharing the last of my Craftulove cards using the snow globe stamp and die set from Studiolight, plus some green gingham paper pad from Echo Park.  I've kept my Christmas card CAS this week by just using the stamp, die and a few gems. I hope you like it. x

Just a little note about the snowglobe set I've used, it includes a snowglobe dome and base stamp plus 3 interior stamps featuring different snowy scenes. Over the month of November I have used 2 of the scenes plus the included sentiment.  All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did
I added a piece of pattered paper to the front of a 4" x 4" white card blank.

I stamped the snow globe onto colouring card and coloured it with Copic pens. Glitter was added to the snow and trees, then a white pen was used for the snow flakes. When the scene was finished it was cut out.

I stamped the snow globe base section onto brown colouring card, and added a little shading with Copic pens. When the colouring was finished the base was cut it out and glued over the top of the previously stamp snow globe.

Using the snow globe die I cut out the shape using black card, then glued the coloured image on top. The topper was then added to the card front using foam pads. To complete the card 6 green gems from my own stash were added to the top and bottom of the card front.

Craftsulove Design Team - November Card #2

Morning everyone 💜

Today I'm sharing the 2nd of my November Craftulove Design Team cards with you. This month's cards is again featuring the lovely snow globe stamp and die set by Studiolight plus a gorgeous chequered paper by Echo Park. For today's cards I've gone with a sort of masculine look using a grey, black and silver colour palette. I hope you like it. x

All the links to the specific Craftuslove products can be found below, and the link to the general store is here.

Here's What I Did
I covered the front of a 4" x 4" card with patterned paper, then trimmed down 3 strips of silver glitter card to create banners in varying lengths.

The snow globe was stamped onto white colouring card and a sentiment was added to the centre. The whole snow globe was then cut out by hand. The inside edge of the globe was coloured with a blue Copic pen and crystal glitter was added over the top.

The base of the globe was stamped again onto silver mirror card using Stazon ink and cut out, this was then glued into place on the glittered snow globe. The snow globe was then mounted onto black card cut out using the snow globe outer die.

To complete the card, gems were added at the top and bottom edge of the card.
