Whole Foods Santa Barbara - the newest BAR in town
Yep. That's right. Looks like our local Whole Foods is creating a bar for beer and wine on-tap like some of their other stores, such as Austin (pictured below.) It will be located right in front of the meat department, so when you are waiting for them to grind up your beef, you might be able to savour a glass o' brewski.

El Encanto dedicated to sourcing locally
including having their own cow.
As part of its dedication to locally sourced produce, El Encanto will have its own cow: Ellie. Ellie’s milk will be used to make a special cheese only found at the hotel. How great is that? And it doesn’t stop there.
There is an El Encanto unpasteurised beer, brewed nearby, to go with Ellie’s cheese. Your morning coffee is El Encanto’s own brand, and an on-site herb and vegetable garden means the journey from field to kitchen for some ingredients is as short as it can get.
Various energy saving and preservation techniques have been implemented to reduce overall consumption. Guests can ditch their car and take one of the complimentary electric bikes to head into Santa Barbara. Set on a hilltop, getting to the beach from the resort will be a breeze, but going back after a lazy day that little bit of electric power will sure help. - Hotel Chatter

Top Cheftestant Casey Thompson to highlight "In The Vineyard"
On October 20, 2012, Hope Family Wines will partner with Firestone Walker Brewing Company to host "In the Vineyard," a unique experience
that will showcase some of Paso Robles' best known wine and beer, paired
to Top Chef Season 3 finalist Casey Thompson's cuisine.
The event will
take place from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Hope Family Vineyard at
1585 Live Oak Rd in Paso Robles, Calif., and will be a highlight
celebration of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance's annual Harvest Wine Weekend.
Casey Thompson is best known for her success in "Top Chef" and previously worked as sous chef under Chef Dean Fearing, "Father of Southwestern Cuisine." In recent years she has scoured small family farms in Napa and Sonoma for locavore farm to table events at wineries. Thompson will prepare a series of dishes specifically for the "In the Vineyard" event, with each plate paired to one wine and one beer. On hand to discuss the pairings will be Hope Family Wines' Winemaker, JC Diefenderfer, as well as Firestone Walker Brewery Brewmaster Matt Brynildson.
Tickets are available for $75, and may be purchased online
at
inthevineyard.eventbrite.com.
A portion of the total proceeds will be donated to Loaves & Fishes Paso Robles (loavesandfishespaso.org), benefitting emergency needs of persons
seeking help in Northern San Luis Obispo County.
