Christmas cards with Charming Words

When it comes to Christmas, I just love the traditional colours! The Home for Christmas 6x6" paper pad is perfect for making lots of Christmas cards.

It goes really well with a rustic look:

And it also suits the red-and-green colour scheme:

Team it up with some Charming Words (find them all here) and any simple card will get the wow factor!

♥♥♥

Here I used:
♥ poinsettia

♥♥♥
The red stamen stems aren't just a great tongue twister, they're delightful as a wreath too!

Simply twist one branch into a double circle, tie with some twine and cover with a fussy cut poinsettia from the paper pad. A few extra white stamen will help it not to look so flat. And a little 2015 charm is so "now".

♥♥♥
If you like it a little more frilly, try cutting out a circle as a bauble...

 ...and decorate it with:
♥ tiny rose
♥ pink stamens

♥♥♥
Like it more traditional? Try using some of the red gloss paper from the pad and rub a baby wipe over the corners. It will take some of the colour off and show the glossy design all the better.

Then decorate with a green merry Christmas charming word:

♥♥♥
Do you like to make your own embellishments? Why not take a golden bauble mini pick and whip up a sparkly bauble:

It's super easy and quick and the golden rhinestone chain is included too! Finish it off with a pretty organza ribbon bow (tie two layers into a bow for extra volume!)
Then add some more star flowers

♥♥♥
A strip of Christmas felt ribbon always makes a pretty border. The kraft and white combo goes well with a little black, if you like it a tiny bit more non-traditional.

I used:
♥ black metal textured stars (among my all-time faves)
♥ red twine

So, as you can see, the Home For Christmas paper is super versatile and you can make lots and lots of cards from just the one 6x6" pad, some cardstock and some pretty embellies from my2angels.
Happy cardmaking!

Happy day

Tracy from my2angels has done it again - a brand-new set of pretty embellishments in a rainbow of colours called Flutterbies!
You wanted to use them and we will do so in next week's class at Scrapulous.

I've been wanting to scrap Hannah's graduation photos for ages, but her brilliant blue dress made colour matching a little hard. For me, the blue Flutterby set was the answer.

Each set has 2 butterflies, 3 flowers and 2 pins and the rest will be die cut in class.

All you need is 3 photos that can be trimmed to 3x4", a background paper or cardstock and a few scraps to suit the set you pick. You don't have to stick to one main colour, it's just what suited my photos.

You will have the choice of 6 colours:

Class times are:
Tue (19/05) 10am
Thur (21/05) 6pm
Fri (22/05) 9:30am
Scrapulous, 60 Bryants Rd, Shailer Park
Cost: $24.50 (inlcudes Flutterby set)

Pocket scrapping for lazy bums - how I scrapped 22 photos in one evening

I normally spend hours scrapping one layout, so doing 4 is not gonna happen in one day. But miracles do happen. Here is how I scrapped 22 photos on 4 pages in one evening!

I got some of the Charmed Life sets from my2angels yesterday and decided to scrap some older photos last night. Using those sets was so easy, it felt like cheating! All the tags are already done up beatifully, all you really have to do is add photos, journaling and a title.

Charmed Project Life

Here is page No1:

The only thing I had to add was a little extra ribbon, for modesty's sake☺

Charmed Project Life

I could have stuck one more photo here, but used it for a title instead:

This was done so quickly, I decided to rummage through the photo box and do the back of the pocket page with something girly:

Here I used the pink mini picks...

...and some umbrella rub-ons I had in my stash.
♥♥♥

By now I was on a roll and found so many more cool photos I hadn't scrapped yet! Out came some silly ones I took with my friends Ann-Maree and Anna.
I used the black and white mini picks for this one.

The black and white ones are great, because you can add a splash of whatever colour suits your photos! In my case, a red title...

...and filled in the hearts with red Liquid Pearls (Rouge).

A white pen and white rub-on letters work great on the black cards.

That one was done quickly too and out came the blue mini pick set. Now it actually screamed teenage boy, but my teen boy is not so keen on the camera and I wanted to use lots and lots of photos. So out came the old photo box again and I found lots from a time when Joel was little and we lived in Jakarta for a few months:

Charmed Project Life

Just some white rub-ons for a title, some doodling...
Charmed Project Life

...a travel pin to show where we were (there are lots of different pins in the embellishment section)...
Charmed Project Life

... a big button (cause I needed a tiny bit of red there)...

Charmed Project Life

...and a bit of journalling. And in no time at all I had scrapped 8 photos!

Charmed Project Life

So all in all, 22 photos on 4 pages in one evening wasn't really all that much hard work. Wasn't that every scrapper's original motivation, to get the photos out of their dusty boxes and into the album? So why not fill in the gaps with pocket pages!
The Charmed Life sets are gorgeous as they are (you don't need to tell they weren't handmade by you!) and if you want, add your own little touch here and there to make them truly yours.

Superstar

Last year we took some silly photos near the beach and it's time to scrap them.

Someone asked for a class project with speech bubbles and here it is! You can either stamp into your bubbles, like I did, or leave them blank and write your own words. Perfect for some silly shots.

For this page you'll need to think of a title with the word "star" in it! For example: superstar, reach for the stars, gang-star (thanks, Janet)

Rhinestone stars are available in class next week or at my2angels (click here)

I will show you how to fold chevrons. They look a little more 3D this way and are a great way to use up scraps!
And we make these cute circles. You can choose from a great variety of words:

I'm not sure what came over me, but on the weekend I organised a coffee jar worth of sequins by colour (mad, I know!). Now that they're nice and tidy, we will actually use them:

Not sure about doing girly photos? You don't have to! This page goes well with boys too, just pick "manly" colours and designs.

More scrapping in the Limelight

The awesome Limelight collection works really well with the chalkboard look that is so trendy now! Simply pair it with a black background and some white doodles, splashes and journaling for a great effect.

Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

Use the Damask template and dab a finger/sponge with watermark ink over just one of the designs. Heat emboss it and splash some white mist or watered down gesso over the black cardstock.

Now embellish with strips of the Today paper...

... and a selection of die-cuts from the collectables pack.
Team it with a few green starburst buttons and some silver stars. These are puffy, metallic and oh-so-versatile. If you don't have them in your stash already, then go and get some! I love them.

You also really need some bike charms! Everyone needs a bike charm...

♥♥♥
I still had a few bits left and made a couple of cards:

Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

If you like the popular chalkboard look, but don't feel overly confident with chalkboard paint and chalk, don't despair - fake it till you make it!

Choose one of the many fabulous stencils from the templates, masks and stencils section (mine is the leaves template) and a black card. Tap a white Adirondack paint dabber on your cutting mat to make a little puddle of paint. Pick it up with a finger sponge or cosmetic sponge and dab over the leaf design. Once it's dry, outline it with a white gel pen.
Kaisercraft Scrapbooking Papers

After you have attached 2 of the tags from Dawn paper, continue the leaf design onto the tag as well. Add some spots with Liquid Pearls, a green mini gardenia, ribbon and a love key charm
Draw some white doodles around the edge of the card and you have faked it like a pro!

♥♥♥
The last few scraps were made into this card ...

together with yellow rosegilded mica fragments ...

...and a heart locket

Makes you wanna go fishing. There are some pretty cool fish charms available (click here), but I had used mine all up!
