double trouble travel layout

Who enjoys traveling? Let's get lots of photos onto a double layout!

We'll use the vibrant Graphic 45 papers with lots of blue. You don't have to make it a beachy theme either. Bring lots of photos to cut down to approx. 3x4" and smaller (the sizes and orientations can vary, it's best to bring a pile and we'll choose some in class). Black and white or sepia will go really well too. If you just can't make up your mind, add the photos later.

We will also have another go at doing some heat embossing with the Metallic Melts. As you can see, there are flecks of blue and green in it. If you missed the stamped teen boy page last week, don't miss this cool technique!

You will have a choice of travel / sight seeing titles, frames and keys.

Would you like to join us in class? Class times are:
Monday at 9:30am
Tuesday at 10am or 5pm (earlier start!!!)
For $25 you will get all materials and mediums and walk away with a finished double page.
See you at Scrappin' With Style @ TJ's

Kiss - a tropical escape

Sorry it's a little late, but you'll forgive me when you find out what I bought today.

Next week's page is here! And it's too pretty to keep on one page, so we're stretching it to a double page, which means we can add lots of photos!

As you know, my favourite medium of the year is Magicals, those versatile little bottles of amazing colours. This time we're going to create a dreamy watercolour effect with just a hint of texture and design. It's easy and fun and of course, everybody's will look different. You'll be amazed at what you can do with 2 Magicals and a sheet of white cardstock.

Then we'll add Island Escape paper (the monstera leaf is already die cut), a few clusters of pretty things, flowers, filigrees and butterflies, sequins, pearls and a sweet little paper bow.

I have used four 3x4" photos, but you can use more, change directions and sizes and make it yours! The photo in the frame is pretty small, so keep that one no bigger than 3x4.

Suggested themes are:
weddings, beach, Hawaii, cruise, tropical, anniversary, girly.

As always, we'll meet at Toni's on Monday (20/03) at 9:30am
Tuesday (21/03) at 10am & 6pm
$25 gets you a seat in class, all the materials you need and a friendly little chat. Don't forget to book in!
See you there!

Happy trails - with a flip out album

You've asked and here it is: a multi photo travel page! Grab a pile of photos and come along to learn how to make an awesome pull-out photo album!

When you pull on the tab, a whole album flips open, revealing one photo after another.

You can pick your theme and pick your colour scheme (we're all using the same background paper of light grey and aqua, which goes well with almost anything). I have cut out a boat cause we're on a lake. You will have a choice of any kind of transport and if you don't do travel, then we can cut out something completely different. The choice is up to you.

Those butterflies from A Mother's Art are so pretty, so let's use them. Several colours are available.

I recommend you simply bring a pile of photos and we will pick and choose as we go. I have used:
One main 4x6" photo (must be landscape)
Two 3x4" photos (portrait)
Four 4x6" photos (landscape) or substitude any of these for two 3x4" portraits. A mix of both sizes works well.

Please don't trim down any photos before class, they have very specific sizes. It's ok if they have white borders.
Don't have that many photos? That's ok, you can skip a few pages or use some for journaling instead. Need to scrap even more photos? You'll be making heaps of those albums in no time!

Please bring a cutter and a score board, if you have one. You will also need glue or the super strong red double sided tape. The cheaper stuff won't do. You can buy your adhesives at Toni's too.

Classes run at Scrappin' With Style at the usual time:
Monday, Feb, 20 at 9:30am
Tuesday, Feb 21, at 10am & 6pm
Cost is $25 and includes all materials

Travel double layout

We all love travelling and next week we're scrapping it! Even if you've only been to the Coast and back, you're bound to have lots of photos.
So, inspired by the timeless style of Jane Tregenza, we're keeping it clean and simple with 10 photos (or even more hidden under the main one)!
If you can't find the right photos, bring the lot and we'll trim them to fit! Or add photos later at home.
For $25 you will get a heap of papers, a whole sticker sheet and everything you need to leave with a finished double layout.
So, when is all this happening?
Monday at 9:30am
Tuesday at 10am & 6pm
at Scrappin' With Style

Bookings are essential unless you have already told me or Toni in person, as these kits are limited and I can't get any more.
See you in class!

Snorkelling

Scrap lots of photos in class next week! It was inspired by a layout at the link here, so I can't take credit for the photo wheel idea.
However, we're also adding a hessian / twine flower and some stamping, to make it appropriate for any occasion. Think wedding, outback, holidays....anything goes! Choose colours to suit your photos.
You will need eight 3x4" photos (3 portrait + 5 landscape) and three landscape 4x6". All of these will be trimmed to fit, so bring a few spares! You can also fit a 6x8" in the bigger circle centre instead of 2 photos. Please bring a darning needle, sharp pointy scissors, craft knife and alphabet stickers.
Classes will be on Monday (yes, it's a public holiday, but we'll be there!) at 9:30am and Tuesday at 10am & 6pm.
Cost is $25
See you there!

Sassy

Everyone has their go-to colours. We recently build a wardrobe in our bedroom and I moved all my clothes. The teeny tiny part of me that is OCD, had to hang and sort them into colours. It was pretty clear that apart from the obligatory black and white I love reds and blues and aquas in all shades. It shows on my layouts too. What's your colour you can't stay away from?
A couple of weeks ago Glennis mentioned she wants to do a purple layout and since I couldn't get my hands on any pretty purple paper, I decided we will make our own! So here it is, in all its purple glory:

Now I realise that just like me you might not steer straight towards purple (and I don't know why, it  really is a gorgeous colour!), so you can pick your own colours, as we will start with (almost) everything in white! We will make the background with stencil and texture paste...

...sprays, salt (yes, salt) and stamps...

...then paint a chipboard word (choose one from the shop)...

...and make the lace flower...

Add some charms and knick-knacks...

and of course, some groovy photos.
Now the question is: Which colour will YOU choose?

You will need:
- a few photos: I have used my 3x4" die to cut 3. If you want the rounded corners and stitched edge that the die does, bring your photos as 4x6" to cut down. You can do 3 photos in any mix of direction.
OR a 4x6" (landscape) plus a mini
OR two 4x6" (portrait)
OR a 5x7" (landscape)
-  You can pick a chipboard word at the shop. While there are lots of words to choose from, the word sassy will probably not be there (it was in my stash from lightyears ago), so don't get your heart set on something specific. Maybe you already have the perfect word? Bring it!

Class times are:
Monday (29/08) 9:30am
Tuesday (30/08) 10am & 6pm
at Scrappin' With Style @ TJ's, 21 Mayes Ave, Logan Central
Cost is $25 incl everything you need

A multi photo travel layout

Travel photos - Anyone who's ever been on a trip has a million of them! And they're not always nice enough to dedicate a whole layout to each one. So, let's scrap a whole bunch on this double layout.

You have space for:
One 4x6" (landscape)
Two 3x4" (landscape)
Four 2x3" (portrait)
Feeling adventurous? Pop mini 1x 1.5" photos into the filmstrips!
You can also scrap vintage photos, if you prefer. They'd go really well, too.

We're using papers from the "Just landed" Kaisercraft collection. I originally planned to make this a single layout, but I liked the old suitcase stacks so much, I didn't want to waste any. And so it had to be a double. I managed to use only 3 papers and a cardstock and I'll show you a few tricks in class how to stretch your papers further.

You will get a choice of wooden embellishments, they may or may not be the exact same one I used. Janet used the same set in her Friday class and I got inspired by her using them around a circle, so I have gone with a similar design. If you attended her class too, this is a great way to continue the story in your album.

There's surprisingly little fussy cutting (I know who will appreciate that!) You will only need a black or pine cone ink pad for the edges, a cutter and the above mentioned photos. Do your best to have the photos printed before the class, as it will be tricky to finish the layout without them.

As usual, class times are:
Monday 9:30am
Tuesday 10am & 6pm
at Scrappin' With Style @ TJ's
Cost is $25 and includes everything you need. Kits will be available if there is leftovers. Let me know by Tuesday morning if you can't attend class but would like a kit.

Cheers, Geli

Imagine that!

So, as you all know, we have a puppy and lots of adorable puppy photos to scrap.

Next week we're using a trick or two to put lots of photos on a page, but adding a mini flip page. There you have eight 2x2" squares to fill with more photos or journalling. I cut 2 photos into squares (be careful not to cut through faces!) and one I cut small. It will depend on what photos you have.

Plus, another big photo hides underneath!

Lots of circles, masking and stamping give it an artsy feel.

So dig out your photos and join me in class next week.

First Christmas - layout with diamond fold album

Welcome to the last scrapbook class of the year!

Open here...

...and reveal a folded album that hides 4 more photos.

It's so easy to do, you'll be folding more of them in no time. The beauty is, you can prepare this layout before Christmas and add your photos later!

This class will only run on Monday, Dec 21 at 9:30am and Tuesday, Dec 22 at 10am.

Both will be at TJ's Scrappin' With Style
21 Mayes Ave, Logan Central

Adventure Awaits & Ascona (with multiple hidden photos)

What's in store for you next week?
On Monday (Sept 21) at TJ's Scrappin' With Style we're doing this cool boyish layout.  This class will be repeated at Scrapulous on Sept 29, Oct 1 & 2.

It has a hidden tag with journalling. During their visit to Rwanda last year Joel's team found out that once a month on a Saturday, everyone - from president to visitor - does a few hours community service. The team pitched in by tidying up a street in Kigali.

Rough granite texture on the clock chipboard...
...and a few spots of chunky embossing give this layout a nice grungy look.

Perfect for masculine photos, man stuff, motorbikes & cars too!
Class is on Monday, Sept 21 at 9:30
TJ's Scrappin' With Style
21 Mayes Ave, Logan Central
Cost: $25 incl all materials (bring one 4x6" photo)

And on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at Scrapulous it will be all about including lots of hidden photos on your layout!

(The overall look was inspired by this sketch from Scrap Therapy and I just loved the colour scheme of Beck's sample here)

Open the main photo to reveal a flip-out section:

It can hold 7 more 4x6" photos and 6 smaller photos!

There are 3 more photos on the back, though not visible here.

All in all, that's 8 regular and 6 half sized photos. Not bad for one layout. Those who don't have that many photos can include tickets, brochure clippings, mementos etc.
We finish it off with our home-made, heat-embossed branch and some flowers.

Can't wait to do this project with me? Join me in class! If you're new, try it for free. Just bring your own papers.

Tue (22/09) 10am, Thur (24/09) 6pm, Fri (25/09) 9:30am
at Scrapulous, 60 Bryants Rd, Shailer Park
Cost: $20 BYO papers & flowers

And here is my Christmas version of the same booklet layout that I will teach at TJ's Scrappin' With Style on Monday, Oct 5:
