MAGNOLIA-LICIOUS DT MONTHLY CHALLENGE!!

Hello friends and welcome to March!!  Hard to believe, isn't it?  We all now spring is coming soon so we are celebrating that flowers will be "popping up" very soon!! Our dear Sharon has challenged us to have something that moves on our cards!  You can check out our whole collection of DT work at the Mag Highlites Blog today!  And you can find out how you can enter for a chance to win stamps!!
I used directions on Splitcoast stampers (in the resources section) to make a 'surprise pop up card'.  You pull up on the string attached to a tag on the tops and the image panel comes up revealing a hidden area!  I love, love this kind of card!  I have made them several times~they are not hard and you get a really nice card!  This time I made my card square (5" x 5").  I started by cutting my card base that size and then made decisions on how large I wanted my image and secret compartment to be.  I used my Fiskars little cutter to make my cuts in the panel.
Here's where you can see the tag that pulls up.  You can also put a sentiment or image on this piece.  I didn't because I don't know what I want there!
I love how there are flowers next to Tilda and her bunny and when the card is 'closed' the flowers combine into one arrangement. This was a little tricky, but I managed!  the fence is a Papertrey Ink die. then I used some Martha Stewart punches for the flowers and leaves on the fence.  I also used an MS grass punch. My paper is from Echo park (dotted) and (once again) from My Mind's Eye-howdy doody. I used pool party and baja breeze cardstock.  tilda is colored with my copics.  My blues are the usual BG10, 72 and blender.  My reds are R20, 22 and 24 for a coral color.
Well, I hope you like what I had to show you today! I loved making it!!
Have an excellent day and month!!
Hugs, Cheryl

MINI MAGNOLIA BINDER BLOG HOP!

Hello dear friends! I am the starting designer for our monthly blog hop! If you get lost along the way, please see the post on the Magnolia-licious Highlites blog for the complete order! Our mission was to design the cover of our Mini Binder from Magnolia-licious! A daunting task (for me!) indeed! Can you see the theme I settled on? If you said "A girl for all seasons" you are correct! The difficult part was to choose an image representing each of the seasons! There are so many great stamps in the Mini collection from Diana's wonderful store-the BEST source for these babies AND for the binder!

I decided to cover my whole binder (like we used to cover our books in highschool! Remember?) I used a roll of brown paper to do that. It is perfect because I love working with the 'kraft' color so much! Then I chose my images and colors. I was sort of going for a family photo album look for my cover, so wanted the imagmes to loook framed.

So sorry about the pictures! It was a bright sunny day, but photographing a larger piece was a challenge for me! I finally took it outside and tried there, but then I got shadows. I hope you can see well enough in my close ups.

I used#363 TILDA AND HER BUNNY, #365 SWIMMNING TILDA, # 3071 SNOWY HUG, AND #298 SCARECROW TILDA for my images.

If you would like to see any of these in the store just put in the item and/or the stamp number and it will pop up-in its regular and mini size. Now here is the cool inside! Each page has a slot for a card and your mini image. You stamp the image on the card and fill in the number, name and collection and you can always see what you have! There are 5 insert pages that altogether will hold at least 90 stamps neatly and safely!

Cool beans! And please be aware, it's not the binder that's mini-it's a good size of almost 12" square!

Thanks for dropping in to look! Now off you go to PJS Designs to see what the talented Patti Jo has done with her binder!

And, when you're finished with the hop, we hope you'll look around your craft area and alter something (using Magnoias) to show us! You can WIN one of these binders and 2 mini stamps of your own! GREAT PRIZE!!

Have a Marvelous Monday!!

Golf Tilda -Part two

Hollah and welcome to Friday! Yippee! I finished the easel card up last night, as promised and here it is! I even did some stitching on the base part! My sentiment was off center so I made the error into opportunity to balance it with embellishments!

for the greens on Tilda I used:yg21, yg 23 yg25 yg 67 and then dulled it down with some E42

Her pants are E42 and 43. then I deepened it with E37 Love these browns!

Her skin is my usual E000, E11, R30

Her hair is a mixture cuz I keep getting stuck on hair these days! Don't know why, but I think I need more practice!

there is Y21, E33, 35 and e37
Okay, off to work! Have a great one!

GOLF TILDA

Good morning! I have to make this a quick post as I have tons to do at school and need to get there earlier every day it seems!
BUT.... was determined to finish the Just Magnolia sketch this week BEFORE the deadline! It's a great sketch! I also need a birthday card for a friend tomorrow! This is the card front, actually because I'm going to make it into an easel card tonight. Then that can be tomorrow's post along with the copics I used to color our gal, Tilda! Hope you'll come back and see me then!
In the meantime, this is #397 Golf Tilda from Magnolia-licious, just the b est store for Maggies and lots of other things-including scor-tape and scor-pal-tools I use on every card!
\Thanks for swinging by today and for all the sweet and supportive comments you leave!
Have a great day yourself!

Get Well Soon!

Hello and happy, happy Friday! It's been a quick and crazy busy week with the start of school! I am one TIRED teacher! Oh, my how will I get through a five day week? Once the routine is set it will get better! I'm determined that it will! Right now I should be doing the school work I brought home, but I'd rather jot a note to you!
Now, on to another job! Nursing! My sister is a nurse and I think I will be changing the sentiment and sending her this as an "I'm proud of you" card! She will love it, I think! This is #307 Nurse Tilda.
She is so darn cute with her sparkly medicine! She is available in both sizes at Diana's wonderful store Magnolia-licious AND Dr. Edwin can be preordered! I colored her with copics and put her on this great Grand Nestability. I'm not so good at the bouquets, but I gave it my all on this one. Maybe the leaves and ferns are not the best green for the card? Oh well! The small sentiment is one I bought at a recent stamp show near Buffalo. Very handy for card fronts. I was too nervous to sew all these curves so I went with marker stitching instead. The beautiful paper is from My Mind's Eye's Lost and found collection (Blush-sweet bouquet and Breeze Dream) These are both from 12x12 sheets, but there is also a 6x6 pad! Gotta love that!

I also plan to enter this card in to the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday -something you find in an office (mine is a Doctor's office!)

Wishing you a lovely weekend! (Especially on the eastern part of our state of NY!)

IT'S SEPTEMBER'S CHALLENGE!!!

Can you hear me screaming?! It's in disbelief that it is September! But, wait, good things do happen with Magnolia-licious at the beginning of every month! The lovely and talented Sharon Caudle has brought us an easy challenge with many interpretations! Make something (with your Magnolias, of course) using a fall theme and fall colors! The Mag Highlites has the complete info on the challenge! The challenge is open to interpretations (did I already say that?) I don't normally buy into writing stories with my Magnolia cards, but I can justify what doesn't seem to be a 'fall' card at all! School is on my mind and I am a primary teacher, sooo, primary colors in the paper. My 'cover' Tilda can be the mother who must send her kids off to school.

She may be sad on the outside, but open the card ....
And she's rockin' with happiness (if she's lucky enough to be a stay at home mom!)

The jar I've added to the card is to hold M & Ms for medicinal purposes!

I found the card (Origami diamond fold) on my friend, Julia Aston's blog this week! She made a cute one with a Sweet N Sassy bear. She was kind enough to link the card's creator, Wendybell, who calls it a Funky Fold card. I've linked both girls' blogs for your entertainment. the card is so cute-takes one sheet of 11" square paper and the pointed top tucks into a pocket behind the focal image! When I mad my first one the diamond did not sit in the middle. That bugged me a bit so I changed the measurement 1/4" so that it would. Not sure if I wrote them down correctly when I watched Wendy's video, but let me know if you want the measurements I used. Hope this makes sense!

Finally, a view of both. I'm loving my new camera (which replaced the one I lost), but these were somewhat difficult to photograph. I take the blame for any problems!

Oh, the stamps are #270 ROCKING TILDA, #532 ROMANTIC WINDOW, #219 LEANING TILDA and #356 WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE. They are all from the BEST store for Magnolias on the planet-Magnolia-licious! Owned and managed by Diana and her family who all care about the customer. I'll link to the HOMEPAGE and you search stamps by name or number if you're interested!

Thanks so much for coming by!! You can see inspiration from the rest of the design team on the Mag Highlites blog! Check it out!

I'd also like to participate in the following challenges:

Have a wonderful day! Cheryl

BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR DIANA!! (cyber style)

YOU are cordially invited to attend the festivities to honor our own Diana! I'm the very end so if you want to hop our party you can begin at the official start-Suzanne's Blog! (Be sure to return!)
If you've come from Maureen's Blog you are on the party track! The complete line up is also listed on the Mag Highlites blog!
I'm bring the table and the party chair for the party! Here is the table! Aren't the colors so fresh and pretty!? I {{heart}} them!

And here is the party chair! (Only I have brown hair so I think I'm the one sitting in it waiting for Diana to open gifts!)

Sorry about the blurriness of some photos-I am very challenged in this area!

Along with #377 Traveling Tilda in her chair there is a card showcasing #233 Congratulation Tilda! Both are from Diana's wonderful store-Magnolia-licious. I see that just the minis are in stock to order immediately, but if you want the full sized ones that I've used just contact the birthday girl and she will surely help you!

Here is the link to the ladder back chair. I realized after I finished that I should have lined the underside somehow, but I hope you'll forgive me for that oversight! But, can you see the houndstooth I used for her chair pad? I used the Spellbinders dies for Sunflower 2 to make my sunflowers. Diana is the sunshine in so many people's lives so sunflowers seemed appropriate! The leaves are Creatibles from Marianne.

The whole card.

And, finally, a close up of Tilda so you can see her pretty paper pieced party dress!

Diana truly is the best and she means a great deal to the design team.

We all hope you enjoyed our birthday party for her today! (Her birthday is actually tomorrow, Aug 24, so you still have time to wish her a happy day!)

Thanks for hopping!

The sky is the limit!!

Hello, friends!! I have a card for a college bound girl today! She leaves for UB on Thursday and we wish her all the best as she starts her post high school journey!! Good luck, Annie! Diana is the best store owner on the planet!! Orders are shipped quickly and you earn Store Credit with each order. She not only has the new "Winner takes it all"
collection in the Magnolia-licious store, she ALSO has them in mini! Yep, available right now!!

Here, I've used two stamps from the regular sized collection-#204 ASTRONAUT TILDA and #577 STARSHIP. She and her ship were so fun to color! I wanted to add crystal effects to her "helmet" and face, but couldn't bring myself to do it! The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. My card got a little bulky so I used my essential tool-Scor- tape to hold it together without worry!

Tilda's close up above and a peek at the inside below. I used my usual face colors0R30, E000, E11 and a bit of E00 if needed for blending. The greys start with C-1 and go to C9-odd numbers as I tried to get the grey/black that I wanted. The pinks on her suit are RV21, 23 and 25. Her hair is E51, Y21 and E25. The spaceship is BG000 and BG10. The "flame" is Y21, YR65, YR15 and YR16. It didn't look right so I added RV25 to blend better with the pinks of her suit.

Remember to enter Jacque's and Diana's Sunday Sensations with just a comment to win a 25.00 PRIZE!! As Jacque said, it just may be your lucky week! Drawing is on Tuesday evening!

And, I REALLY hope you will return tomorrow for a very special post! That's all I'm sayin'!

Have a wonderful Monday!!

Hugs, Cheryl

Oops! I meant to mention that this is for the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoase

You Raise me up....

Hello friends!! I've really worked on my studio this week and now it's a joy to stamp in there! I had to find places for the paper hoard I have! (Mainly because there is more on the way to me!!) Anyway, I had time yesterday to create with this great Tilda image from the Sweet Rainbow Collection~ called TILDA WITH KITE (3020). It comes in Mini too and I have to check and see if I have it-it's adorable!
My card base is poppy red and I used dps from the My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad called Life of the Party. Great summery colors! I give credit to Tracy Harp for this computer generated sentiment. She thought of it for use with hot air balloon images and with kites. Thanks, Tracy! I have so many people in my life who raise me up to be better!

I'm entering this card in the Just Magnolia challenge for the week-Anything Goes with the option of glitter. Of course, she has stickles added!

Thanks for coming by to look!

Have a great day!

New Month-New Magnolia-licious DT challenge!

Hello! The new DT challenge for the month of August was brought to us (and YOU!) by Diana herself!! And we said, "What, ONLY paper?! How can that be done?" Well, it's a challenge, it's supposed to challenge you a bit, ya know? So here is my card made from only paper (and a few stickles!). It was actually kind of fun because I do love to make my own flowers. When you do so you can get the exact color you want! But no ribbon or buttons, that was tough! I used the image #226 BIRTHDAY TILDA. I see it is out of stock right now in full size, but is available in mini size.

I just love the combo of red and aqua! I cannot imagine it now, but I used to hate them together! I used paper from Cosmo Cricket, Spellbinders grand Nestabilities (Labels 4), a Marianne die (from Bunny Zoe's store), Spellbinders rose dies and the leaf die is from Magnolia-licious.

I used copics in the following colors:

E000, E00, E11, and R30 skin
aqua BG0000, BG11 and just a little E42 to dull it down a bit

Red- R08, R17, R46 and R30 for blending (I just love her red shoes!)

hair Y21, Y24, E99, E25

Y21 and E42 for candles and cake.

And here is the inside ;)

If you have any questions, please let me know~I'll be happy to answer!

A birthday card was a must for me as my birthday is next Sunday and sweet Diana's is later in the month of August! It's a great month!

Birthday Wishes

Hi! We are homeward bound from our vacation today! So sad it's over, but ready to get back home and see my fam, friends and the cats! I had meant to get this card posted all week! I made it before we left to add to my very small stash of ready to go cards! Do you have one of those? If you visit here, you already know I often make regular sized cards with my Tildas, especially the mini ones! They are perfect for this reason! Here I have used #3011 TILDA WITH STRAW HAT from my favorite store, Magnolia-licious! Diana has soooo many in stock and ships orders out quickly!
I think my papers are older Bo Bunny ones in soft blue and yellow. ONce, again, I used a kraft card base (my favorite!) and then my colored layer. The yellow is from Papertrey ink and the blue is Sus Bashful Blue. I used a Mojo Monday layout from a week (almost two weeks) ago and a Martha Stewart punch that had never been used!
I thought this blue was a nice change from the aqua that I seem to have on every card!
Hope you like it too! Wishing you a great weekend!
Thanks for coming by!

Tilda with small gift and a friend!

Hello! Planned on posting this morning, but time got completely away from me! So here I am this evening after another gorgeous WNY day! I've been trying to use some of my Papertrey Ink stamps lately and I thought I could make these three flowers work with my mini favs! Our friend TILDA and her friend, HUGO. They are, of course, from the Magnolia-licious store owned and managed by the wonderful Diana and her family! This is #293 TILDA WITH A SMALL GIFT AND #411 HUGO THE SNAIL. Both are from recent and irresistible mini collections available in the store! The flowers are from Papertrey Ink and are from Flower Fusion #4. I stamped them in ink and then added some shading with my copics. Tilda and Hugo are cut out and placed in the scene. They were curved a bit and put on a dimensional piece and then the edges are glued down to the background paper with quick dry glue. Stickles in Stardust are added to Hugo and to the flower centers. I'm sorry, but I did not keep markers separate to jot down as I colored this time. I know they are BGs and YRs, but I'm sure you had that figured out already!

And, here is another card with Flower Fusion 4. This time the centers are colored black, and then I added black stickles. Very striking IRL, but I could not get the centers to show their glitter very well.

Thanks for visiting tonight! Have a wonderful night and weekend! I'm headed out to the deck with my coffee to read for awhile!

Hugs, Cheryl

July Magnolia-licious Challenge!!

Hello! Summer keeps getting in the way of crafting! We're still getting a handle on the gardens and purging unnecessary things on the inside of the house! But, ENOUGH of that! It's a brand new, beautiful month and Mindy Baxter of our fab design team has a sketch for us this month!! Details and the SKETCH are on the Mag Highlites Blog! It's a beauty Mindy! Thanks!

I used #3020 TILDA WITH KITE as the centerpiece of my card. She is available now in mini and in regular sizes and remember you get rewards for shopping a great service!

Her close up and I see I need to blend her face make up better! LOL!
Now, below is my first picture tutorial! I think some wanted to see the sunflower that Michelle (mitchygitchygoomy) gets FULL credit for! I copied!

Here we go.....!

These are Papertrey Ink dies. BeautifulBlooms II
When the link opens, scroll down to see the set of dies, please!

You get all three sizes. The flower I made today is the middle size-about 1.5 inches across

You need THREE of your shape. (The small ones are extra here-I wasn't sure what sizie I wanted so I cut both.)

Now you have to break down the layers of cardstock. I put all three in my crimper at once and roll back and forth 30-40 times.
I don't remove them each time-too lazy for that! Squeeze hard to hold them and turn!

Turn them the other way in the crimper and turn some more! Back and forth!

After crimping, use your fingers to break the fibers apart a bit. I hold the flower by the edge and move it back and forth so they come apart a bit. I don't really peel them apart, but you can. Then I just sort of wad the flowers up! They are quite pliable by this time!

Next, sponge them with a darker shade than your cardstock. I used summer sun (too bright!) and then More Mustard (just right!) Layer glue dots between layers and stack 'em up! alternate your petals.

Here it is!

Now curl up the center section, then the second one just a bit.

Add a center and you're done! The dotted paper from my previous posts makes it look most like a sunflower, but for this I wanted some red!

I hope you've found this helpful and not too simplistic!

Thanks for visiting!
