Vintage Flip Christmas Calendar

Since I'm still in the Christmas mood today...and that's probably because I was sick most of this weekend with a terrible cold..
my nose wouldn't stop running and I couldn't stop sneezing....
which meant..I didn't get to hold Macie this weekend..
I did talk her Mom into letting me hold just a bit...so it kind of sucked...
but I got some cute pictures of her...and of course I'll share a few with you
before I show you my latest paper project...

Yep, that's me in my pj's rocking Macie and her smiling back at me...

Macie is such a ham for the camera...5 weeks old and loves to have her picture taken...

The proud parents of Macie,
my daughter, Crystal and Stuart...
Okay, now onto my last Christmas themed project this year...

First of all I can't take any credit for this project...I was inspired by Simply KellyB
I started with a 8 X 10 frame from Dollar Tree...

I added vintage looking rose trim around the entire frame..
and I used the new paper line from October Afternoon...
Holiday Style...

For complete directions, you'll want to head over to Kelly's blog..
and she's got a link to the pictures for each day of the calendar...

I added a little embellishment to each page and the bell ornament
on the side is also from Dollar Tree...

I kept the background as neutral as possible so I can make a flip calendar for Valentine's Day....

I'm going to take some time off and will be back on Saturday for Sunday Blog Love.
Wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season!

B-A-B-Y Banner for Macie Rae

On Sunday, DH and I made the trip to see Crystal and hubby to deliver a few things to them..

One item was a baby banner...which needed to be gender neutral since the sex of the baby is
unknown to everyone!!

So this is the wall that is waiting to be decorated..
Crystal and I added a few things so the shelf didn't look so sad..
but it still looks pathetic....
I made this banner using the cricut cartridge, Baby Steps...and cut out some onsies...

We decided the best place for now was from the pegs on the shelf...

And while the shelf still looks sad,
Crystal looks fantastic!

And guess what?

The baby is here!!

Macie Rae was born at 4:15 pm
November 15, 2011
7 pounds 7 oz
All are doing great!

And I got plenty of time to hold my new little granddaughter...

Macie looks exactly like Crystal when she was born...
I am in love...

I found this great quote on quote on Pinterest....

The family will be coming home tomorrow...
and I'll be there...

(I've just launched my Facebook page, and would love for you to become a friend...)

Baby Shower

In helping to plan the baby shower for my daughter,  I searched Etsy for baby shower games.
There are so many great stores and I spent quite a bit on time finding just the right package..
I bought this package from DUECOURI and was very satisifed with the fast response and turnround time to receive the pdf files....

I love all the pastel colors...the parents- to- be don't want to know the sex of the baby so I wanted to stay away from pink or blue themes....

Have you ever played Bingo where you fill in the spots?
It was a great game and made for lots of conversation and laughter..
Another great game we played was..

The Purse Game
and I had the most points!
I can honestly say that I didn't read the game card until everyone did..

I just happen to carry a big purse and have lots of things in it...

Picture of me and my girls...
It was a nice afternoon get together with family..

Next time your going to host a get together...
think Etsy..
there are so many wonderfully talented people with great products..

Don't forget about my giveaway going on now....
POP37 is graciously giving away one of her beautiful flowers.....
and I'm giving away a book from Country Living...

Junky Family Journal

Have you heard about junk journals? It's not really a mini album or a art journal but rather odds and endd or possibly leaning toward a specific topic..- I'd like to show you my take on the junk journal..
The topic of my journal would be about my family and growing up...

First order of business was to stop at Dollar Tree and get a notebook...don't get a spiral notebook if you decide to make one of these..

It doesn't matter what the cover looks like, because it's now been altered (covered up)...

The first step was to prepare the cover..
I've painted it blue and the binding is a cream color..but you could cover it with scrapbook paper or whatever you'd  like to use.
(Cover is not done, I wanted to get started on the inside so this is how it'll be for now!)

Second step was to prepare the pages.
I inked the edges of each page, and then rolled up and crinkled each page before adding more distrezzing to each page...
remember this is a junk journal, it's suppose to be fun..anything goes..

Third step is to secure the pages so they don't fall out..
open the notebook up in the middle and take some ribbon and tie it at the top very tightly..
then add more ribbon about every 15 pages or so..the more ribbon you use - the better the end result will be..

Once the notebook has been prepared it's time to find things to put inside...

I've been saving all those cute printables and printed them out on regular copy paper..
most sizes are 4 X 6.

I pulled out some family pictures my Mom had put together for me many years ago...

and scanned them and printed them in black and white on regular copy paper..
I didn't want to use the orginals, nor did I want to spend a lot of money..

I pulled out different things that I had on hand to add to the journal..
Because the notebook is 60 pages or more..it's not done yet..
and it'll probably take me all year to fill it in..
but I wanted to show you some of the pages

The first page is a picture of my twin sister, Tracy, who passed away 10 years ago..
I can't say that we were close, she made decisions that compromised my trust in her.
Even though we we're close, I miss her every day..

My brother, Jim...not sure how old he is but I love this picture..
the other picture is kind of hard to see but it's my Mom on her birthday and the grandkids all making sure she could open her presents...

Hope I'm not boring you, I found this picture of my Dad..I had never seen this one before..
he must've been in his 30's with the family dog..he loved dogs and we always had a least two..

And as you can see, the notebook that began being flat is getting very full..
I love it and will keep adding things to it each week..
I hope I've inspired you to try making one of these journals...
I 've got a surprise for later this week so I hope you check back..
oh and we're remodeling our bathroom this week too!

Recycled Mini Album for Bailey

When it's summertime, there's nothing like a cold, icy glass of lemonade.
We tend to use the frozen concentrate as it's more tart than the powdered mix.
Have you ever noticed how nice those lids are? If you're like most people, probably not!
Well I saved several of those lids and recently used them to make a mini album for my
daughter's super sweet beagle,  Bailey.
Let me show you how it turned out...

DH used his drill to make the holes so I could hold it together with twine.

This was so much fun to make...

And the back cover....

Is Bailey not the cutest puppy?

How can you not smile when you see this cute picture?

Bailey is definitely loved by all!

Weekend in Chicago

On Saturday, we drove to Chicago so that Ashley could take a Japanese proficiency test on Sunday.
Ashley is a third year Senior who hopes to find employment is either Korea or Japan.
I hope she finds a job in the US.

I didn't take a picture but we saw a lot of people out walking and it was cold there. It had just snowed the day before and everything was so pretty.

I couldn't get over how close the cars are parked, on both sides of the street!

I loved the way the trees connect overhead. I bet this is just beautiful in the summer when it's full of leaves.

And I loved these brownstones and each one was different and beautiful.

We had a great time and got some shopping done (BONUS).

Have a great day!
