13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 12

Our challenge for Day 12 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply B Stamps was to make a "Halloween shaped" card.  Bats, pumpkins, witch hats and shoes, cauldrons...  You get the picture.  I decided to use an unopened and neglected Spellbinders die to make a candy corn card!  It doesn't get much more "Halloween" than this sugary delight!

I free handed a card base on black card stock and then used the Candy Corn die to cut my yellow, orange, and white pieces.  I embossed them with the Swiss Dots folder for some texture and added a bling swirl and a Martha Stewart candy sticker.  I colored up Miss Batty Rio from the Teen Scene Trick or Treat collection and fussy cut her before popping her on the card.  Inside is a sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps' Midnight Feast set.

I am off to finish up cookie pops and goody bags for tomorrow.  I have poured myself a big pumpkin mocha iced coffee for the task!  Halloween is almost here!!!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E23, E25, E27, E31, R32, YR02, YR04, YR07, N0, N2, N4, N6, N8, YG03, Y35).

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 7

This blogging every day in October thing has me just wee bit stressed!  I am trying my best but I fear I may not make my goal this year!  I really am a procrastination genius!  With less than 10 minutes left to my Monday, I want to share the card I made for Day 7 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply Betty Stamps!

The theme is a bone chilling color challenge of black, white, and cream.  We are allowed to use other colors as well, but those three are a must.  I needed a Halloween themed wedding card so I selected Christian and Betty Mistletoe from the Teen Scene Christmas 2011 collection.  What better couple for Halloween nuptials than Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas!?  I colored them with Copics and fussy cut them, losing the mistletoe, and popping them up on foam squares.  The sketch is October's CLP (#63).  I used only black, white, and cream papers.  The designer papers are from the La Creme stack by DCWV.  I added white lace, black pearls, a couple of flowers, and a flourish.  The sentiment is stamped on a Fishtail Flags Stax Die-namics.

It is exhausting to make and blog a card a day in between all my other responsibilities.  Today is my long day at work and when I got home I gazed longingly at my couch and TV, then making sure the DVR was set for my shows, I sat down at my craft desk.  And I get to do it all over again tomorrow.  And the next day.  And the day after that.  Ten days to go... Plus somehow I also have to fit in Halloween baking and a weekend full of fun into the equation too!  Time to break out my inner Wonder Woman!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your week is off to a fabulous start!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E13, E15, E17, E19, E21, E23, E27, E31, N2, N4, N6, N8, R32, Y32, BG10, BG72, V04, V12).

Bat Signal

Hi!  Tonight is one of those nights where it all seems to be catching up to me!  I am super tired and I though I have images to color and cards to make for tomorrow (two, to be exact) I have spent most of the night on the couch.  I managed to finish one card, and I wanted to share it with you.  This is for my friend's son...  I'll be a little late for his birthday (only a couple of days) but I know he likes Batman so thought I'd give him a bat signal shout out!

I've used a Simply B Stamps image called Christian the Dark Hero from the Teen Scene Goes Hollywood collection.  The image is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Papers are Comic Heroes by Recollections.  The sketch is Sketch Saturday (#280).  I added die cut bats from Spellbinders and a couple of black rhinestone bling swirls.  I don't normally like to add bling to masculine cards but I felt this one needed a little something else.  The sentiments are from My Favorite Things.

I know I will regret taking it easy tonight when the pressure is on tomorrow, but sometimes you just need to recharge the batteries!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E25, E37, R20, N0, N2, N4, N6, N8, Y35, B34, B37).

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 3

Day 3 of the 13 Days of Halloween with Simply B Stamps had me scratching my head!  I'm really just a card kind of gal so the "Halloween Around The House" theme gave me pause.  But I rose to the challenge and created this super cute "BOO" banner!  As you can see, you can use it as home decor or to BOO your co-worker!

For the banner, I colored Little Ghost Jude from the Teen Scene Trick or Treat collection.  I fussy cut him and set him aside.  The banner was made using my Spellbinders Labels One die, my Tim Holtz Mini Rosettes die, and a free printable from The Graphics Fairy.  (You can find the printable HERE.)  Card stock is Stampin' Up Basic Black and Only Orange.  The designer paper came from a K&Company pad I bought last year by Brenda Walton called Haunted.  A hole punch and some ribbon later and my banner was ready for display!

I decided to whip up a batch of my peanut butter balls last night and BOO my co-worker with some treats.  I colored Miss Batty Rio with Copics and computer generated the text above her.  Then I placed her in an empty black frame before placing her, and a few treats, on my co-worker's desk.  It was a hit and I know she is currently scheming who she is going to BOO next!

Now that I've made this banner I have a feeling I will be doing more of them for other holidays!  Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous evening!  We are off to the library now that my post is up and linked to the challenge!  Priorities, right?!  LOL

13 Days of Halloween with SBS: Day 1

Happy October!  My favorite month of the year is here and with it comes the 13 Days of Halloween challenge over at Simply B Stamps!  The challenge kicked off today and the theme is to create your own spooky background.  You can use any medium you like EXCEPT another digi image.  As you know from my guest designer spot for SBS last month, I am not a fan of these types of challenges!  They intimidate me for some reason and I freak out a little bit.  But I really had fun playing along with the 13 Days of Halloween last year and I was not about to balk at the very first challenge!  So here it is!

The rules state that you MUST use a SBS image for the challenge.  I colored up Broomstick Betty from the Teen Scene Trick or Treat Teens collection with my Copics.  She is fussy cut and popped up with foam squares to give her some dimension on top of the scene.  I decided to use ink to create my background a la Michelle Zindorf style.  However, she uses a brayer to ink her gorgeous backgrounds and I don't have one so had to settle for sponges.  I used Old Olive, River Rock, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Apricot Appeal, and Pumpkin Pie ink from Stampin' Up.  The creepy tree and owl are from a Stampin' Up stamp set called House of Haunts.  I added a few punched elements (a wrought iron fence, gravestones, and bats) all from Martha Stewart as well as some flowers.  The haunted house on the inside of the card is from the same SU set as the tree.

Last year I blogged every day in October and had a new project to share each day.  I'm not sure I can repeat that performance this year, but I do hope to play along in all 13 of Betty's challenges so that I can be eligible for the fabulous grand prize!  For all the details about the SBS 13 Days of Halloween click HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you're having a fabulous week so far!  We're just enjoying the season!  We are all decorated for Halloween here and have been watching Halloween movies since Sunday!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, N4, N6, N8, R20, Y32, Y38, YR00, YR02, YR04, V09, V12, V15).

- Digi Darla's Challenges: DDC#82-Anything Goes with optional twist "Harvest Moon"

Totally 50s with SBS

Hello!  I've been busy crafting this week, but I haven't been able to show off any of my creations.  So I thought it was time to share one.  The current challenge over at Simply Challenged Challenges is "Totally 50s" and there is not one single entry yet.  I thought I'd get things started.  There has to be a minimum of 6 entries for there to be a prize awarded so hopefully a few others will be inspired to play along!

I've been coloring up a lot of Simply B Stamps images lately, and here I've used Betty Monroe from the Teen Scene Go To Hollywood collection.  This iconic pose is from the movie The Seven Year Itch, which Marilyn did in 1955.  I thought she was perfect for the challenge theme!  She is colored with Copics and fussy cut.  Papers are Mama-Razzi from Bo Bunny, and the chipboard sticker is from the same collection.  I added a few die cut stars (Stars Five from Spellbinders), Film Strip Ribbon from Tim Holtz, and a sentiment from a Gina K stamp set called Quite A Catch.  The sketch is from Sunday Sketch and Stamp (#172).

I hope your weekend is off to a great start!  I think ours is going to be a quiet one again.  That could potentially mean more crafting time for me!  Yay!

Markers used: Copics (E00, E11, E21, E31, R20, R27, R89, Y28, Y32, Y35, N0, B00, B02).

All Father

Happy Monday!  I wanted to share the last of my Simply B(etty) Stamps Teen Scene Norse Gods cards with you today!  I know he was previewed and released on Friday, but he wasn't quite ready by post time.  My dad celebrated his birthday on Friday so I made a card for him using Chris Odin.  Odin is the All-Father in Norse mythology and is associated with war, battle, victory, and death as well as wisdom, magic, poetry, prophecy, and the hunt.

I colored my image with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers.  I then fussy cut him and used foam squares to pop him up.  The sketch is from Sassy Studio Designs (DTBST #150).  I opted to leave off the banner sentiment on the front as I didn't want to obstruct the image in any way.  Papers are from my stash and I can't recall who makes them.  I added black pearls and black organdy ribbon.  The die cut is the Labels Ten Nestabilities from Spellbinders and it is embossed with a fleur de Lis Cuttlebug folder.  The sentiment on the inside is also from Simply Betty Stamps and was created especially to coordinate with the Norse Gods collection.

I'd also like to share the card my son made for his Papa.  Now there is a little back story that needs to be told here...  My dad loves old movies.  Watching movies together has always been our thing.  He was the only family member who would watch horror movies with me when I was a teenager.  And when I was young we used to watch Abbott & Costello movies together.  Among my favorites were the "scary" ones- Meets Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolfman; Meets the Mummy; Meets the Invisible Man; Meets Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, etc.  A few years back we gave him a box set collection of the movies on DVD.  This year we started watching them with Kayne.  And he LOVES them!  He's only 3, but he's an Abbott & Costello fan!  Every time we go to my parents' house he asks to watch one!  So when I asked him what he wanted to out on his grandfather's birthday card, he had me look through my collection of images for Mr. Hyde (I don't have one!), a mummy (too scary, he said), Dracula (same thing), the Wolfman (also too scary) and then Frankenstein.  He finally settled on Mayzy Art's Halloween Frankenstein.  I printed him out and let my small man color him up.  With Kayne's input as to paper and embellishment choices, we finished an amazing card that his Papa adored!  Here it is:

Kayne was so proud of his creation that he wanted to keep it!  lol  I told him we would color another one for him. Here's a couple of photos of Kayne working on his Papa's card.

And this is them with my parent's new black lab puppy, Finn McCool (Finn for short).

Sorry for the quality... They were taken with my phone.  Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a marvelous day!

Markers used on Odin: Copics (E11, E21, E00, R20, Y32, Y35, E23, E37, E79, W4, W6, W8, W10, 100) and Prismacolor Art Markers (149, 209).

Simply B Stamps Previews Day 4 Norse Gods

Release day is finally here for the Teen Scene Norse Gods from Simply B(etty) Stamps!  I'm here with "previews" for Day 4 as their guest designer, but all images are now available in Betty's online store. Today we introduce you to Betty Frigga and Chris Odin.  Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding regarding posting time, I was only able to get one card completed for you.  Chris Odin is colored and waiting to be made into my dad's birthday card.  I do have Betty Frigga ready to make your acquaintance, however.

Frigga is the   "foremost goddess", the wife of Odin, the queen.  She is primarily known for being a wife and mother although it is suggested that she has the power of prophecy, although she never reveals what she knows.  Betty Frigga is colored with Copics, fussy cut, and popped up on foam squares.  The layout is courtesy of Sunday Sketch and Stamp (#131).  Papers are My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose - Mabel.  For the square element, I used the Fleur de Lis Squares Nestabilities die from Spellbinders.  The sentiment is another from My Favorite Things.  The only other embellishments added were a few rhinestone squares and some flowers.

If you didn't arrive here from Trish's blog, here is the complete hop list to help you along:

Simply B Stamps Previews Day 2 Norse Gods

Hi there!  Welcome to Day 2 of the Simply B(etty) Stamps Teen Scene Norse Gods previews!  You should have arrived here from the talented Trish's blog!  If not, the complete hop order is listed at the end of the post so that you don't miss any of the amazing creations!

Today, as guest designer for the release, I have two more mighty beings to share with you!  First up is London Freya!  She is the goddess of love, beauty, fertility, gold, war, and death.  She rides in a chariot pulled by two cats and wears a cloak of falcon feathers.  Here she is colored with Copics and cut with my Labels Seventeen Nestabilities die from Spellbinders.  I tried my hand at adding patterns to my colored image- the two cats.  It turned out okay, but I think I need a bit more practice.  My leopard spots are too uniform.  I need to try making the the spots different shapes and sizes next time.  I sponged a bit of So Saffron ink from Stampin' Up around the edges of the image panel.  I added lots of bling and flowers plus a feather.  Papers are My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Two- Sunshine.  I created the sentiment using the Clearly Sentimental About Food set from My Favorite Things and added the stamped designer paper to a metal rimmed tag.

Next up is Miller Heimdall!  He is the watchman, the shining god, the god of light.  (He is also a Marvel character and appears in The Avengers).

I used the current The Sweet Stop skectch (SSS183) for this one.  Heimdall is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers.  Papers are DCWV The Natural Stack and were a bit difficult to photograph due to the foil.  For the oval element on the sketch I used the Beaded Ovals die from Spellbinders.  Gold pearls and ribbon plus a muse token from Tim Holtz finish off the details.

We're half way through the previews and release day is Friday!  What do you think so far?  I am loving being able to work with these images!  To see what the SBS team has created for today, here is the complete hop order:

Simply B Stamps Previews Day 1 Norse Gods

I am so thrilled to be here with the first of four days of previews for Simply B(etty) Stamps!  I was asked to be a guest designer for this awesome release by Miss Betty Boo as she knows I have a special fondness for the subject!  Meet the Teen Scene Norse Gods!  I am SO excited to be debuting these images this week!  There will be four days of previews, culminating with the release on Friday.  As always, Betty and the girls are showing off the new images with a blog hop!  If you have arrived here from Trish's blog then you are on the right track!  If you have stumbled upon this post by happy accident head back to the SBS blog so you don't miss any of the design team's awe-inspiring creations!   Here is the complete order in case you get lost:

Regan (*you are HERE*)

First up is everyone's favorite trickster, Loki!  Jude Loki to be exact!  This mischievous fella has been colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers, fussy cut, and popped up with foam squares.  I used a sketch found at Forever Friends (#48) as my layout.  Papers are Lemon Flower by DCWV.  I simply added a few black pearls in two corners to let the papers and image really steal the show!  The sentiment is stamped on a ribbon banner die cut from Spellbinders and is from the My Favorite Things set called Party Girl.  It was just too perfect for Loki!  As a side note, some of you know I had a beloved cat named Loki who was with me for 16 years before she passed away last year so  have a special fondness for this god.

Next up is the mighty god of Thunder, Christian Thor!  As well as being Norse deities some of you will recognize these two as Marvel comic characters.  If you haven't see the movies Thor or The Avengers I highly recommend both!  If for nothing else than the yummy eye candy that is Chris Hemsworth!  Anyway, here is my card...

Christian Thor is colored with Copics and Prismacolor Art Markers as well.  I used my largest Classic Circles Nestabilities Spellbinders die to cut him out and then sponged around the image with Distress Ink in Antique Linen.  The sketch is from The Crazy Challenge (#131).  The papers are from Recollections, Michaels own line of products, but they are the same designs as My Mind's Eye - Union Square.  I was a little stumped at first for embellishments but I ended up using a brad and my Sizzix Decorative Flourishes die.  The inside reads "You Are My Hero" and is from the My Favorite Things set called Good Knight.

You may have seen these two before as they were offered as a special gift with purchase from Betty a few releases back.  But now they will be available to everyone on Friday!  Check back tomorrow to see what other Norse fun we have in store for you!

Markers used on Jude Loki: Copics (E11, E21, E00, E000, R20, W4, W6, W8, W10, 100, YG03, YG06, YG11, YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97) and Prismacolor Art Markers (96, 149).

Markers used on Christian Thor: Copics (E11, E21, E00, E000, R20, W4, W6, W8, W10, B00, B02, E15, E17, E19, Y32, Y35, Y38) and Prismacolor Art Markers (99, 100, 137, 150, 151).
