Watercolor Wonder

Hello again!

I've been working on a video to showcase the amazing stamp set Rose Wonder. I love it for it's big empty spaces just begging for color. So that's what I did!

I love capillary action. It's like instant love. You get the paint near the water and they just can't stand to wait to hug! They literally run to each other.

Did you know? There's shenanigans going on over at Splitcoast. Yep. It's Virtual Stamp Night. They have 16 challenges that you can play until April 2. There are prizes and some really cool peeps. Come over and hang out with us!

Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Virtual Reality

Hello friends!

We live in an amazing world. Technology is a powerful thing, but sometimes I get really tired of people. On those days, I love to stay in my studio and make my own reality. I shut out the distractions and the social media outlets. I turn on some amazing music and just play.

Occasionally, I turn on the video just in case something nice happens on my table. Most of the time it's just cats, squirrels, and bunnehs. But this time...

I got some Yupo paper. Speaking of oxymoron. Yupo is plastic. There is nothing paper-y about it! I remember when it first hit the market. I thought it was just crazy-talk. Who would buy that expensive plastic?!?

You see... this 'paper' is much like Teflon. Nothing sticks to it. Then I saw a video that Dina Kowal made over on Splitcoast. I wouldn't attack Yupo with anything that wasn't permanent. She, being much more adventurous than I, actually watercolored on the stuff.

Water. Color. Yupo. No. Physics has rigorous demands. Then a member of Splitcoast had the audacity to issue a challenge to all of us to follow Dina into the jaws of artistic death.

Well.
You know me.
I had to. It was a dare.

I recorded it because I was certain I would die when the world I knew was destroyed. Water on plastic. You be the judge.

I did video my work using the same process with Pebeo watercolors, but apparently that video wasn't meant to be seen. Maybe my new rescue ate it? Yeah, that's a good story. The stamp is A Good Day. Watercolors react and respond very similarly to the Brusho.

I took the finished panel and cut it into strips. That was hard, but even harder was trying to cover up that beautiful effect. So I didn't. This stamp set is from Hero Arts, Smile stamp and cut.

I took a deep breath on this one before gluing down those pretty flowers. I left them black and white for 2 reasons - Lydia told me to, and I couldn't bear to have anything competing with the Brusho color riot. The stamp and die are both in the Sale-A-Bration - hurry! The offer to earn these free vanishes March 31.

Be sure you check out the challenges. There are a lot of fun ones! Some will stretch you! Hope to see you there.

It's a Hopping!

Howdy peeps! It's been some time since I visited you. I've been busy getting the studio together, and I'm happy to say I'm back to regularly creating again! Woohoo! It feels OH. SO. GOOD!

I feel like crowing! We are just wrapping up the mini Virtual Stamp Night over on Splitcoast. This theme is Birds and Bees and Creepy Crawlies. We'll have the main event March 1 and 2, so put it on your calendar!

I made this card for Kathy's challenge to make something punny. Hee hee! I love this card. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the chicken wire hexagons, layered over some Daisy D's paper. I didn't want to complicate the vintage style color scheme, so I left the chicken plain. I like the rustic feel.

You should expect to see more posts and maybe even a little blog candy in the near future. I am loving getting inky again!

Ta for now,

~ky

Me and my muse

Me and my muse have been in touch again. Here are some more cards I made for the latest Virtual Stamp Night on Splitcoast.

This was created for the blue Christmas challenge, and was sent to my Dad for him to enjoy.

I had a great deal of fun creating this card for the unseasonably warm challenge to make a Christmas card with non-Christmas images. Love the Cat's Pajama's stamps - so funny!

This card was perfect for my sis-in-law and her family. I hope they enjoy their gifts. We had a great visit over thanksgiving and her husband is a darned good chef! The challenge was to make a card with six or more layers.

This tag (I love tags!) was made for the music challenge. Our projects had to feature music, so I decided to showcase what music makes me want to do - dance!

I hope you find some inspiration here. I am always happy to have you visit me! Oh, and if you need more inspiration, check out my Art Journal blog, the Gesso Dragon!

There's Still Time!

Did you know this was VSN weekend? Did you know you still have time to play along? I didn't get all of the challenges completed because Santa came early. I plan to finish my cards and projects today or tomorrow. Yep, VSN is open until 10 p.m. EST on Monday night! Here's a sample of what I made:

{Click on any image to enlarge}

You don't have to make just cards! I channeled my inner Tim for this tag. This challenge involved making a project from packaging or wrapping paper - celebrating all those wonderful gifts we get!

I made this card for my sister because her birthday is so close to Christmas. This challenge was to find inspiration in your wardrobe. I love the Narnia reference for this challenge!

And you know I couldn't go through the night without a bunneh!! Lydia challenged us to make a project using the CUTEST bunneh photo as inspiration. We were to represent what gave us the warm fuzzies! SQUEEE!!

Ok - so there's a little sampling of all the fun you can have at Virtual Stamp Night. It is a wonderful time to share inspiration and laughter with other stampers.

Alrighty - I'm gonna be busy today. Hope to see you over there!

Upcoming Fun

Hey friends - do you know what this weekend is? It's Virtual Stamp Night over at Splitcoast Stampers! Woohoo! We are gonna have a lot of fun challenges for you!

Here's a little sneak of one of my samples. I wonder if you can guess what it is?

The fun starts at 5 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, December 9th, and we'll have a new challenge every hour until 9 p.m. Eastern. Now, don't worry - you have all weekend to do the challenges - uploads close Monday night. Here's another teaser...

I know, I'm so mean! We'll start back up on Saturday, December 10th, at noon Eastern time with a challenge just for kids, then resume the regular schedule at 1 p.m. The party goes until 11 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, so everyone will have a chance to at least come chat and hang out. It's a Winter Wonderland theme!

Ok... I'd better see you there. Promise? Great!

Hippity Hopping!

Happy Monday friends! The winter Olympics are over for another 4 years. Wow. They were great! Loved that we had an Olympic themed VSN too! You can still play - submissions are due at 10 pm Eastern tonight.

Meanwhile, back on the ranch we have {ippity} projects to share!

{click to enlarge}

I made this card for my challenge to use the technique of tea bag folding. It was a lot of fun to make! I started with 8 squares of Basic Grey and folded them using the kite fold.

{click to enlarge}

I really love the dimension with this! It's a little hard to see, but I also did some decorative scoring where the sentiment is. Fun!

Well, I hope you have a great day and enjoy everything on the hop (full list here). See you soon!

Cool runnings. Peace be the journey! ~ky

Greetings! from the Bunny Farm!!

Or from the Funny Farm... yep - just corny punny stuff around here. Here's a little card I made this weekend for Virtual Stamping Night on Splitcoast Stampers.

{click image to enlarge}

This was a fun challenge - we picked our CASE project from 8.5 x 11 scrapbook layouts in the SCS gallery. Our general theme was Masquerade, and hidden messages, so I decided to include a hidden message in my card front. Here it is opened:

{click image to enlarge}

Anyway - we all had a wonderful time, chatting, crafting, laughing and generally just relaxing together. I hope you'll keep your eyes peeled for the next time SCS has a VSN, and just jump in!

FFF, FWF Anyway you spell it, It's FUN!

Welcome to another Friday Friends with Flair! Woohoo!! We're having a ton of fun this weekend!!

It's time for another Virtual Stamp Night over on Splitcoast! Come join us for a Masquerade Ball tonight and all day tomorrow! We will have prizes, challenges, great chatting and lots of fun! You're going to have a chance to try new techniques, meet other fun stampers and get great ideas for more projects!

Second, Operation Write Home (formerly Cards for Heros) is hosting a 75-blog hop on Saturday. It will begin at noon Pacific time. Just click the picture to go to their site!

Here's my FFF project for this week. Our unofficial theme was to use embossing. Remember, Angela has lots going on with Unity and Ippity - so check her blogs!! And be on the look-out for that hidden blinkie for your chance at free stamps! I'm soooo excited that Donna Downey has a Unity set!!! Squeal!!!

{click to enlarge}

This card was made for our US soldiers stationed abroad. It will be mailed to Operation Write Home for use as a Valentine's card! I just adore this owl! Here's an inside view!

{click to enlarge}

I also used a cuttlebug folder (Forest Branches) to emboss the lower half of the card. The image is colored with Copic markers. I used Basic Grey paper for the sentiment and inside decoration.

Hope you've enjoyed your stop. Next you're off to Maria's blog!

It's a Hangover Kinda Day!

And it's so nice to be back among friends!! Thanks for stopping by today. Scroll on down if you've not visited in awhile. I've been busy!

I hear that Unity will be changing their tune come Sept. 1. Will it be the end of Hip Hop as we know it? Doubtless, it will be bigger and better cuz that's just how Angela rolls! Can't wait to see what she'll have for us - I can feel it in the air - that crisp apple-picking fall breeze with fresh mown hay and a touch of fall colors. Mmmmm.....a little woodsmoke, a football game...

Oh SNAP! Sorry - dreaming again! I completed this card because it fit the Hip Hop challenge to include winged things on a card. I also used the Cuttlebug inking technique to give a little more detail to the debossed background. I love this pear tree! It can be almost any season, just change up the colors and embellies. FUN! The paper is all Gina K Designs - the new Green Apple and not yet released pumpkin (did I mention how I love this paper?). A little Basic Grey bling, some Offray ribbon, and there ya go!

Unity chicks will be chatting in the hip hop forum today. Come say hello! And don't forget to showcase your favorite stamps Friday and Saturday in the Virtual Stamp Night Forum! See you there!

Swimming in the Sunshine!

Yeah - this is a simple project. But it capture my DH's interest - must be the shiny bits! BOBL! This is Sunshine's Francine Flounder, done up in her own aquarium! She's got a few shells and beads and gravel to entice passing peeps to drop her a morsel. I envisioned this card as a date night invite for my sweetie or even for good friends to enjoy a dinner out!

Paper is Bazzill cardstock, SU! glossy cardstock using the polished stone technique and Adirondack metallic inks. I also used the gel technique to create Francine's aquarium. Hey - Francine's friend Bertha is waiting to come to your house for free! Check out how you can win her on Sunshine's Stamps blog!

Hey - come on over to Splitcoast this weekend!

We're having Virtual Stamp Night Friday night (6 p.m. Eastern) and Saturday (noon eastern). You can participate in any of the challenges until Sunday at 10 p.m. eastern. Automated uploads on Sunday, too. Come check it out!!

Virtual Stamp Night!!

The girls over on Splitcoast Stampers have an event called Virtual Stamp Night (VSN). There's usually a theme, and the challenges go with the theme. This quarter, the theme is Paper Chefs, and all the challenges revolve around food! YUM! This weekend's challenges were for snacks.

This challenge nearly did me in! It was all about food allergies. You had to pretend you were allergic to all kinds of ink - you couldn't use anything ink related. Boggles the mind, don't it!

This card uses Basic Grey PP and rub-ons, Bazzill cardstock and a little piece of Offray ribbon. The layout comes from Mojo Monday!

The next challenge was chip and dip (I'm getting so hungry!). We were asked to use a paint chip as part of our project. These images are from Unity, gold embossed (card), terracotta embossed (chip), with Basic Grey PP, Pebbles kraft CS, Bazzill dark brown CS, some quick sewing a splash of ribbon, and there ya have it! The paint chip is a removable bookmark!

The last one was an inspiration challenge. It's all about the popcorn! I loved this challenge because I got to make a card based on an old-time theatre. I mean, who doesn't luv a tub of theatre popcorn with a ton of butter! Mmmmm....drool....

Unity images, Creative Imaginations PP, Bazzill CS, and gold embossing powder. Oh - the stamps on the circles are from Cat's Pajamas, and I intentionally "messed up" the embossing to give it an old, worn feel. Same with the Robin's Nest dew drop stage lights.

So - that's what I got done this weekend. I have another project or two for you tomorrow, so make sure you come back and see!

Moooooo Me...VSN

Non sono il suo muggito me... I'm not your moo-me. Snark! Ok, this was one challenge from VSN on Friday. This is the new image from Sunshine's Stamp Creations! His name is Malcolm the Milk Truck! Our VSN challenge was to make a card representing a wilted salad (crumpled cardstock) with an Italian sentiment. I hope it brings you a little giggle. Visit Sunshine to request your Malcolm! Then head over to VSN and play along! You have until 10 p.m. Eastern on Sunday to upload!

Here's a little bunny love. This is Tinker...she's a Daddy's girl, who loves to have her nose rubbed. She's looking pretty good given that she's a rescue. Hug your kids!

Tuesday Tinkering in the Studio

Yep, I'm tinkering today (with Tinker, no less!). I didn't do a single crafty thing yesterday, it was just a bad day. Today is better! Thought I'd show you my cards from VSN Mini this weekend.

This card was created for the Darth Tater Challenge. I love this theme for VSN - Paper Chef! Based on the ever popular Food Network Iron Chef series. Our challenge was to use the colors found in a baked potato with a secret ingredient - paprika! Red (or paprika) was to be an accent color. It's getting warm here, so my first thought was watermelon, which led to a seed spitting contest, and summer birthday parties! House Mouse Happy Hopper seed spitter took center stage along with Gina K Design's Eclectic Summer Sayings happy birthday.

Ingredients: SU! PP, Bazzill CS, GKD Pure Luxury Chocolate Chip CS, SU! markers, sweet pea Flower Soft, Robin's Nest dew drops, Offray ribbon, Memento tuxedo black, and SU! kiwi kiss inks.

This cutie was created for the Herb 'n' Man challenge to make a masculine card using the color of herbs. I used the Card Positioning System sketch #121 for the layout. I plan to give this to my darling husband who has been working so hard on our garden. At the end of the season we will have a ton of veggies to put up, and I really appreciate having a husband who loves to grow things. So, a little thank you and some mad money should let him know I appreciate him!

Ingredients: Gardener Flopsey (MFT), Thank You (Gina K - Eclectic Summer Sayings), Memento tuxedo black and SU! kiwi kiss inks, Prismacolor pencils and baby oil, Basic grey PP, Bazzill CS, Fiskar's border punch, and SU! scalloped circle and inner circle punch.

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to scroll down to see the other things I've been working on lately.

Ta for now, ~ky

Welcome to the Bunny Nest! I host rescued animals in a small in-home setting. Currently, I host 3 bunnies and 2 kitties. These animals will be socialized and housed for the entirety of their lives in my home. They inspire my crafts, and I use any proceeds to pay for their needs. Thanks for visiting!
