Hey y'all - I'm here for a chance to plug my FAVORITE card service - Operation Write Home. If you're not familiar with them, they coordinate getting hand-crafted greeting cards to our overseas service members who don't have the luxury of a store to buy cards to send home to their family. It's pretty awesome! I'm thrilled to be featured in the Midweek Throwdown!
Here's my card. I love making little scenes and this stamp set is from Gina K Designs using Nina Brackett's Special Fathers stamp set. I created the sky and water using Theresa Momber's amazing sponging tutorials, and colored the rest with Copic markers. The papers are from Authentique's Genuine collection, a few white brads, and Gina K's awesome Pure Luxury cardstock. The fabric ribbon is a piece from my stash.
I hope you'll take a minute to explore the OWH blog - there are so many ways to be involved even if you're not a crafter. Thanks for taking a moment to stop by today - I love having you here!
Ta for now,
~ky

Father's Day for OWH
Father's day comes early for Operation Write Home crafters. Our deadline for Father's day cards is May 21, to give them time to ship them out so soldiers can send them home. I was feeling a little uninspired until I found some great color combinations on Pinterest, and wonderful card sketches from Gina K's Stamp TV.
I found this BoBunny paper this weekend at my Archiver's store. I love the entire pad! I used Special Father's set by Nina Brackett and colored the clock with my Copic markers.
I made a stacked sentiment with my Nestabilities, and I wanted something to create a splash, but being a Dad's card, it couldn't be flowers or ribbon. I raided the Cabana Boy's tackle box, and got his fishing line. I cut the line into segments, and glued seed beads to both ends. I love how these add a little masculine sparkle to the cards. And just to be safe, I glued the beads to the card, too.
Give it a go sometime - what a terrific addition it will give those fishing styled cards! Now I'm off to make up a few more for soldiers to send back to their dads.

Gina K Release Party!
Wow - Gina K got me back into scrappin'! And sewing! Do you sew on your projects? What's your excuse? Feel like you don't know enough about machines to do it? Feel like you don't know where to put the stitches, or how to sew on paper? Gina's taken the mystery out of sewing! She's even got a challenge on Stamp TV where you can post your projects to be entered in a drawing for a free stamp set!
I took this picture when my Dad came out to visit. He loves to play cards, and Reilly loves to play Uno. Between the two of them, the rest of us felt more like bait! I used the Special Fathers' set for the Grandfather clock and the sentiment. I colored the clock with SU! markers. I stamped the flower from Eclectic Summer on Bazzill cardstock and painted the petals with bleach. Then I stitched all over in a somewhat random fashion, distressed the paper and smeared a little tea dye all over. The title was cut from Bazzill CS by my trusty Cricut! I love gadgets!
So - pop on over to the release party. We've already started the pre-party, and we'll be going until 10 p.m. Central time. I hope to see you there!

Welcome to the Bunny Nest! I host rescued animals in a small in-home setting. Currently, I host 3 bunnies and 2 kitties. These animals will be socialized and housed for the entirety of their lives in my home. They inspire my crafts, and I use any proceeds to pay for their needs. Thanks for visiting!
