Chili Today, Gone Tamale
Well, my Chili didn't win first place, but overall it was the most authentic and most flavorful chili of all! Granted, I feel I should have won since it was the first one that disappeared off the table. LOL.
The judges were people from other departments at M.D. Anderson with no affiliation to Breast Medical Oncology, because last year there were complaints the contest was rigged.
So it was a first for me on two different levels. One, I created the cream corn and mozzarella cheese tamales hoping they would turn out great, and they did! Second, I have never entered a cooking contest before - yep, this was my first time. :-)
The three judges read the results aloud starting with 3rd place, "It's Always Chili in BMO", the northeastern bean and chicken won them over. Then came our team's chili, "Chili Today, Gone Tamale" - they stated my chili was the most authentic and most flavorful of all. Uhhh hellooooo????? LOL. And finally first place went to "Ready To Rock N' Roll" - for being the "most odd chili they've ever tasted - it was sweet, spicy and different."
Afterwards the entire department was able to feast on all the food. Of course I had to try my competitor's chili and went with the winning chili, and it wasn't that bad actually. But if you added potatoes and carrots - you'd definitely have some beef stew since it contained mostly pot roast. So yeah, that was a little odd. In either case, congrats to them.
Thank you all for the support and wish me luck next year! :-)

A Very Special Moment: Lazaro Arbos May Stutter, But He Can Sing
I've decided to create a new series, and I'm going to call it "A Very Special Moment".
I always come across videos on the internet, that I swear, are very special moments and this video is one of those moments.
Who you become, what inspires you and what message you convey to those around you - will definitely make you a better person. All we want is to be loved and accepted. Everyone want's that. You want that.
Ryan and I haven't seen American Idol since Crystal Bowersox lost to Lee DeWyze in season 9, but the recent audition of Lazaro Arbos I caught online was absolutely gut-wrenching. The boy has a stutter, but can definitely sing his heart out.

Don't Be Nervous Andrew!
Ever feel rejected? This kid does. Well... he did before he was a contestant on America's Got Talent last week. The episodes were from the auditions held in Austin, Texas - the gay friendliest city in all of Texas!
Not only, did Andrew De Leon manage to get a standing ovation from the judges, he got one from the entire audience! Believe me, our jaws just dropped when he started to sing.
The touching moment comes when he responds to Howard Stern and says, "Um, I'm just so used to being rejected and I'm not really good at anything, so... this is amazing."
Sharon Osbourne continues by saying, "..please don't say that you're not good at anything, because you got an amazing voice, and you are an individual!"
But Howie Mandell said it best when he closed out the show by saying, "You know, you've been hiding in your room all these years, but you never let the world see who you are or what you are, and it's not that you're good at anything, you are great!"

Hedda Lettuce Takes on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 4 Contestants
Here's a little something for all you RuPaul Drag Race fans! It's a Monday, so I need to make you laugh. Now, I'm sure that all of you know who Hedda Lettuce is? Right?
If you don't - SHAME ON YOU! THAT'S HYPOCRISY!!!
Known as the The Queen of Green, she is one of the most popular drag queens around! I would love to continue writing more about her, but you can read more about her at heddalettuce.com. For now, I want to post this video where she gives her take on the season 4 contestants of RuPaul's Drag Race. It's an absolute hoot.
Is it me, or are this year's drag queens a hot mess? I don't think any of them match up to the previous drag race queens.
