Homes & Antiques Awards - Short Listed - Nostalgia at No1

Shepton Mallet has definitely been put on the map this year. We had Kilver Court Designer Village winning Bath Life Awards and I have just received some very exciting news......Niki from Nostalgia at No1 has been short-listed in the finals for Homes & Antiques Awards 2013

Niki will be going to Battersea for the awards ceremony at the end of the month! This is fabulous news for Nostalgia at No1 and for Shepton Mallet, the publicity is already out there!

Take a look at the categories and the short list - Nostalgia at No1, Market Place, Shepton Mallet is in the Peoples choice category!

WELL DONE Niki and GOOD LUCK in the finals.

  1. Hi B! Thanks so much - It would be fantastic to win this for Shepton! But, whatever happens, the publicity that this national magazine will generate can only be a good thing.
Huge thanks to all who nominated my little shop on the Market Place, I am chuffed to bits! :) Its good to know so many still enjoy a personal service shopping on their high street.

SHOP WATCH Pretty Shops in the Market Place

It was a lovely blue sky today, Easter Sunday.
This is the view of the Market Cross from our new shop at 12 Market Place, No21 Vintage & Interiors

The windows are so large there's lots of reflection, but its great for dressing.

We haven't painted the shop yet at 12 Market Place, weather permitting, but have taken down the Pickwicks cafe sign

We are so lucky to join some pretty shops in and around the Market Place. Our neighbours,
One Craft Art Galley have been in the town for at least 10 years

Nostalgia at No1 has been in Market Place for 3 years and will soon feature in Pearl Lowe's new book. I choose a picture to show Nicki's shop in the Summer
....I so wish we had Alfresco dining in the Square!

Somerset Antiques and Interiors, (originally Wells Emporium) have had two very good years at their new location in High St, near Market Place Shepton Mallet. We can see them from our shop...and I am sure a catch up over coffee on the bench will become a regular!

There are two shops vacant in a prime location in the Market Square. Join us in our quest to create a unique place to shop...... Independents who offer something different and make shopping
a enjoyable. Don't miss out on the fun!
Kilver Court Designer Village is just down the road, think of the future and the opportunities this brings.

  1. Hi B,
I love looking over and seeing your beautiful new shop on the other side of the Market Place now...Your window displays are most tempting! :)

Wouldn't it be fantastic to welcome new traders to the other two prime locations that you mentioned on the Market Place? It could be just what Shepton needs to move it forward this year...

Kilver Court Head-lines

Plans to turn Shepton Mallet into designer capital of the West

22-March-2013

by Western Daily Press

Expansion plans for Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet look set to boost the local economy and put it on the map as a major retail destination.
Owner Roger Saul thinks Kilver Court could become an alternative to London for mid-Somerset-based shoppers looking for designer brands.
He believes the site is ideally placed at the crossroads of two major arterial roads across Somerset and close to the rail link at Castle Cary.
The founder of the Mulberry fashion label has been talking to Mendip planners about opening up Kilver Court viaduct as an access road to the site from the A361. He plans to invest £10 million in developing Kilver Court to encompass around 40 designer shops, a hotel and more restaurants.
If his plans come to fruition they could bring around 250 new jobs to Shepton Mallet within the next two years.
Mr Saul said: "We have just been voted Bath retailer of the year – a wonderful accolade bearing in mind that we’re in Shepton Mallet."
He has been speaking to Visit Somerset about bringing tourists from China to Kilver Court. He would like to develop the spot as a tour destination.
If his plans go ahead the local economy should benefit from the use of contractors in developing the shops, hotel, access road and parking.
Mr Saul said: "I think the footfall on the high street would also increase.
