Niki, owner of Nostalgia at No1 produces a yearly calender. 2014 3rd edition features memories of her individual, handmade dolls, fitting beautifully into the seasons.

In the WIndow - Coastal Theme, with One Craft Gallery

One Craft Gallery have themed the window with an appropriate coastal theme, no surprise in this hot weather when thoughts provoke images of the sea and glorious British beaches

Displayed are textured ceramics and fish glazed dishes

Inspiration from little coastal cottages

Coloured glass fish and sea bird paintings

Summer hats with coastal flowers and urchin inspired glass 

Iridescent surfaces and sea shells 

One Craft Gallery showcase a selection of Jewellery, ceramics, glass, wood, textiles, painting/mixed media and printmaking/photography. 

A small group of local crafts people and artists run the cooperative; Rowena Kinsman, Rachel Kerrison, Caroline Tetley, Pam lloyd, Sheila Holness, John & Helen Ablitt, Fran Davies, David Chambers, Buffy Fletcher, Mayumi Kaneko, Helen Thompson, Martin Rumary, Kerrie McNeil, John Waters.

The gallery also feature guest artists once a month. July introduces Gillian Hulse from Wells. 

Her designs are often inspired by land, seascapes and the natural world.

English singer-songwriter turned vintage fashion and textiles designer has launched a new book; Pearl Lowe's Vintage Craft, showing how to create the authentic vintage look in your own home with her expert advice and simple craft projects.

Many local shops and suppliers in the area are featured or listed in Pearl's Little Black Book including our lovely Nostalgia at No1 in Market Place, Shepton Mallet and Kilver Court Designer Village.

What do Shepton Mallet and Honiton have in common?

Is it the gradual emergence of antique and vintage shops that make Shepton Mallet,  the sister town to Honiton? ... not quite, but it is a possibility in the near future. There are already several furniture, antique, vintage and artisan shops defining the town as a destination .....and new opportunities ahead (information revealed at a later date)

Did you know? the manufacture of silk and crepe revived the town's fortunes in the 17th and 18th centuries and Shepton's mills manufactured the silk used in Queen Victoria's wedding dress. Honiton lace was also used for the Wedding dress of Queen Victoria which proved an important boost to Devon lace-making.

   Thanks B! I was thrilled to have been nominated for this award, as I was put forward by 'the people' who love to visit my shop. Hopefully the awards organised by this national magazine, will encourage more people to get out and visit the lovely independent shops on their high streets. :)

SHOP WATCH Pretty Shops in the Market Place

It was a lovely blue sky today, Easter Sunday. 

This is the view of the Market Cross from our new shop at 12 Market Place, No21 Vintage & Interiors

 The windows are so large there's lots of reflection, but its great for dressing. 

We haven't painted the shop yet at 12 Market Place, weather permitting, but have taken down the Pickwicks cafe sign

We are so lucky to join some pretty shops in and around the Market Place. Our neighbours,

 One Craft Art Galley have been in the town for at least 10 years

....I so wish we had Alfresco dining in the Square!

Somerset Antiques and Interiors, (originally Wells Emporium) have had two very good years at their new location in High St, near Market Place Shepton Mallet. We can see them from our shop...and I am sure a catch up over coffee on the bench will become a regular!

There are two shops vacant in a prime location in the Market Square. Join us in our quest to create a unique place to shop...... Independents who offer something different and make shopping 
a enjoyable. Don't miss out on the fun!

   I love looking over and seeing your beautiful new shop on the other side of the Market Place now...Your window displays are most tempting! :)
   
   Wouldn't it be fantastic to welcome new traders to the other two prime locations that you mentioned on the Market Place? It could be just what Shepton needs to move it forward this year...
