still playing along with the gecko galz customer challenge blog "steampunk autumn" theme. here's another tag:
papers and images from gecko galz collage sheets and paper packs.
lace from my stash and sentiment from tim holtz.
love to all.
this blog is to chart my creative evolution with stamping, paper-crafting, mixed media and some other stuff i haven't figured out yet... on the theory that challenging myself to try new things and post them to the "world" will be good for me. and might also be good for others. my blog title is inspired by julia cameron's "the artist's way" and her admonition to fill the well.

instructions: i covered the ATC base with one of the victorian christmas papers and distressed the edges. i added lace and the flower and dot. i fussy cut the image from the blog hop sheet and glued it down. i continued to embellish with the word and the brad.
these two creations are "moos" which are little arty piece made at 1.2 x 3.8 inches. i used the same basic components on both of these.
supplies: gecko galz "christmas sprinkles" paper pack; gecko galz "snow much fun jewel it" collage sheet; and then various embellishments from my stash.
instructions: in both cases i cut a moo base out of cardboard and covered it with the christmas sprinkles paper. i fussy cut the images and arranged everything together the way i wanted and then glued it all down!
i'm linking my "moos" to the current moo mania and more challenge "trees."
for me, christmas is a holy and sacred time and one of my favorite images of christmas is the three wise men bringing gifts to the holy baby. that was the inspiration for this last ATC.
supplies: gecko galz "victorian christmas" paper pack; gecko galz "christmas days gone by" collage sheet; distress ink; ATC base; dove and heart stickers.
instructions: this was made very simply by covering the ATC base with the victorian christmas paper and distressing the edges, fussy cutting the three wise men and gluing them down; appending the lace with double sided tape and adding the stickers to finish.

baby love
it was my turn to pick the challenge theme at tag tuesday for the next two weeks and with mother's day right around the corner i chose "baby love." but really the theme can be about mothers and babies or just babies, human babies, animal babies whatever you like! here are two tags to get this started.
i used lunagirl images on the first piece, with a beautiful little girl reading a book (from the african american CD) and her wings from the "fly away home" collage sheet. the background paper is from jodie lee designs. the washi tape, die cuts and stickers are from my stash.
for this piece i chose an image and paper from gecko galz. the mother and babe are from the "mum's the word" collage sheet and the paper is from the mori girl paper pack. the paper flower, enamel dot and lace are from my stash.
i hope you will have fun with this challenge!

zentangle moon love
it is week two of the zentangle challenge at the cheerful stamp pad. you can enter any creation featuring a zentangle you've made, or one credited to another artist. our DT is working with the zentangle art of courtney mcansh, designer of digital images at sweet pea stamps, our challenge sponsor. i've taken courtney's moon zentangle and combined it with images from gecko galz for my creation this week.
i printed the wonderful digital moon image and colored it with colored pencils. i used background paper and a vintage lady image from gecko galz and arranged them with the zentangle. i added washi tape, a pink lace border, a white heart brad and the words "moon love" which i formed with vellum stickers.
one week left to join the challenge for the chance of a prize from sweet pea stamps.
you may zentangle your own creation or use an existing zentangle image.
i'm also linking this to the gecko galz paper crafting group on facebook for the "anything goes" challenge.
love to all.

gecko galz inspiration: the easter bunny cometh
in keeping with our monthly customer challenge "easter time" at the gecko galz blog and in celebration of the many wonderful papers and images new this month at the gecko galz store i offer another fun easter card.
i grabbed 2 PNG images from the easter parade icons set -- the bunny and the egg bursting open with flowers, and arranged them digitally on one of the gorgeous background papers from the easter parade paper pack. i printed that out and adhered it to my card stock and added distressing, bright pink lace and some easter eggs and a chick at the bottom!
if you are making something for easter and it involves at least something from gecko galz then you can join the challenge. don't forget that if you sign up for the gecko galz newsletter (sign up at the blog) you get a free collage sheet each month which will give you plenty to work with!

poultry moos
usually a cow says "moo" but the challenge prompt at moo mania right now is "poultry" so my moos are all about chickens! cluck cluck! as you may know, moos are itty bitty things, roughly 1 by not quite 3 inches, or 2.8 x7 centimeters i think. i made two moos for this challenge.
the poultry on both are from a lunagirl "farm animals" collage sheet. the backgrounds are also from lunagirl -- the top one from a botanicals collage sheet and the bottom one from a still life collage sheet. and of course i've added other little embellies, lace, a die cut fence, a sweet littl hummingbird sticker, etc.
enjoy! love to all.

in the garden plus freebies!
as some of us welcome spring a lot of folks are thinking about getting in the garden. so that is our new two week challenge at the cheerful stamp pad. create something involving gardening, flowers, seeds, veggies and any of those good kinds of things. my first DT piece features a digital image graciously provided by our challenge sponsor stitchy bear digital stamps, the digital image was created by artist bb kakes.
i printed the digital image onto one of the victorian garden papers by gecko galz and then colored it with pencils. i cut that out and arranged it on card stock, adding brightly colored laces and a butterfly.
our challenge sponsor is stitchy bear so a randomly selected winner will get a prize from that company. please join us!
also, FREEBIE ALERT!!! over at lunagirl moonbeams the challenge is fruits and flowers/vintage botanicals until friday and there are freebies here and here which would fit both themes at the cheerful stamp pad and at lunagirl! get your freebies folks!

think spring!
the latest challenge at my artistic adventures challenge blog is "think spring!" i've made a spring-y tag with a music background by my artistic adventures etsy shop (actually from one of the christmas collage sheets -- but don't tell!) and a central image by gecko galz.
some prima flowers and lace are my final touches. i do like the spring colors! i'm ready...

statues
the "statues" prompt at tag tuesday for this week stumped me. in the end i made 2 tags -- one that failed to meet my aims and one i like regardless of whether it met my aims! this tag which i feel pretty good about uses a favorite stamp from stampers anonymous. this stamp is reminiscent of a statue or bust and i liked the effect from stamping it on a combination of dictionary and designer paper.
somehow she seemed to want to wear a lace veil so i gave her one, along with some other simple embellishments.
so, on to the tag i made first and which did not meet my expectations. i have a photo i took on my cell phone of a dancing lion. my friend and i debated if the lion was meant to be from wizard of oz. we couldn't decide. but for my tag i attempted to add some wizard of oz elements (from a gecko galz collage sheet). it just didn't come together as i wanted it to. i'm sharing it anyway since it is all about the journey anyway.
happy rest of your week; love to all.
