Stocking Flower Basket

I love making stocking or nylon flowers but my creativity is hampered when I run out of supplies!
The nylon flowers look so delicate and beautiful plus they are easy to make . This particular basket contains yellow lillies, pink roses, red pansies pink roses and tulips.This is where I keep my collection of nylon flowers!

Calla Lily- Nylon Stockings

Gorgeous calla lily flowers can be made at home with nylon stockings , they come in red,white and other shades and make good filler flowers.
MATERIAL REQUIRED
Nylon material for flowers
Thin wire for petals
Thick wire for stem, floral tape ,thread
Fevicol or white glue
METHOD
1 Make stamen by wrapping thin strip of paper on wire,with fevicol.Make as many stamen as the number of flowers.
2 Make a small hoop of thin wire and pull to make a heart shape.
3 The tip of the heart will be the top part of the flower ,pinch it to give a sharp look.
4 Prepare stem by rolling floral tape round it .
5 Carefully roll the bottom half around the prepared stem.
6 Wrap thread around it securely ,wrap floral tape on it.
7 The stamen prepared can be stuck with white glue in the centre.
Make a bunch of calla lilly flowers and enjoy !

Lillies -Nylon Stockings

Lillies are very elegant and beautiful, in fact they add grace to any occasion. The large trumpet like lilly flowers are found in many different shapes and varieties, but they all have long tube like stems . The petals are different and some are plain even- edged ,some are pretty jagged , others are thin and spider like.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
Nylon stocking material in color of your choice.
Wire and floral tape for stem.
Thin wire for making flowers.
Stamen stalks.
Thread for tying the petals.
METHOD
1 Make 3 small hoops or rings around 2 " wide .
2 Make 3 hoops of a larger size , 2" 1/2 "
3 Take stamens and pollen stalks and tie them to a hooked wire .
4 Wrap each hoop tightly with nylon of your choice with thread and pull out to form a tear shaped petal.
5 Start tying the smaller petals separately to the stem wire ,around the centre.
6 Next tie each larger petal in the gaps i.e. one small and one large petal .
7 Give a trumpet shape to the flower and also turn and pinch the petals slightly at the tip .
8 If one wishes then a few dots of dark brown dots can be painted on the petals near the centre.
9 Wrap the floral green tape round the wire stem .
10 The lillies are ready for display !

Tulips -Nylon Stockings- Tutorial

Tulips make wonderful cut flowers ,they also look good when made with stockings or nylon !

Materials Required
1 Nylon or stockings for flowers and leaves
2 Golden thin wire
3 Aluminium wire for stem
4 Floral green tape for stem
5 Thread, scissors, wire cutters
METHOD
TULIP FLOWERS- 6 petals for each flower
1 Make three big hoops or rings by wrapping golden wire round a bottle (see tutorial ) and cover with nylon,tie with thread. Give a slightly oval shape (3" long) to the petals by pulling the top end of the hoops.
2 Make three smaller hoops similarly(2 1/2") for petals.
3 Tie each large petal to the hooked stem wire with thread upside down i.e the petals will be facing downwards and the tied ends will face upwards, like a skirt !
4 Next tie the smaller petal hoops on top of them similarly.
5 Tie stamens and pollen stems to the centre (optional) or wrap up the centre with nylon and tie with thread.
6 Slowly turn up each smaller petal upwards, giving cup shape to them.
7 Similarly turn up the larger petals too giving a natural tulip shape to the flower.
8 Wrap green tape to the stem.
LEAVES
Make a large hoop, wrap it in green nylon ,tie it with thread. Gently pull it out . Tulips have long sword-like leaves.
Make several tulips and leaves in the same way, put them in a vase , enjoy !

Nylon Stocking Flowers Tutorial

Nylon or stocking flowers look very pretty ,delicate and can be made easily with a few things. They make excellent decorative pieces when displayed in a bunch in a vase or a bouquet.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

1 Nylon or stocking in various colors .

2 Wire -thin golden wire for flowers and leaves ,its easy to give shape to petals and looks good too.Thick wire for making stems or one can double up golden wire for thickness.

3 Thread for tying the petals and leaves, glue

4 Floral green tape for wrapping on stems

5 Stamen and pollen stalks

METHOD FOR MAKING FLOWERS

1 Make a ring or a hoop with the golden wire for petals . A simple way to get the same size is too wrap the wire round a bottle and cut off the excess wire. Make several hoops as they will be used for making petals and leaves. Make slightly smaller ones too for smaller petals and leaves.
2 Wrap nylon tightly round a hoop and tie it with thread. Make as many as petals needed.Pull out the hoops to make petal shape.

3 Take a 6" plain wire for stem and make a hook on one end for tying the petals.

4 Tie the stamen and pollen stalks to the stem hook with thread.

5 Start tying each petal to the stem wire with thread in the shape of a flower.

6 Wrap the stem wire with green floral tape .

7 Finally give a natural shape to the petals by opening them slightly outwards .

LEAVES

1 Cover a hoop with green nylon or stocking and tie it with thread.

2 Make several and pull them out in an oval shape slightly to give a leaf shape.

3 Add the leaves to the stem with tape and glue.

4 Shape hoops into petals.

5 Attach each petal to wire stem with thread to form a flower.

6 Make leaves with elongated hoops and cover with green nlyon.

7 Cover wire stem with green floral tape.

8 Attach leaves with tape or glue.

Make several flowers and leaves for pleasing visual effect.

Stocking Flowers

Here is another easy way to make flowers, stockings ! Yes the very same stockings used for covering legs can be turned into beautiful flowers !
Materials Required-
1 Stockings of various colors
2 Thin wire
3 Thread
4 Scissors
5 Floral tape
6 Pollen stalks
METHOD-
Take a thin wire , it should be enough for the stem say 6 ". Take another piece of wire and shape it into a petal , like a big loop and entwine it . Cover it by drawing the stocking tightly around it and tie it with thread , cut off the rest of the stcking .Make at least 5 such petals.
Take the wire for thr stem and double it if its too thin, make a tiny loop and fix the pollen stems in it. Tie the petals around it with thread. Make them overlap slightly so that they look natural.
Wrap the stem wire with floral tape .
LEAVES
Make leaf shape with the thin wire and cover it with green stocking neatly. Tie it to the stem with the wire and cover the joint with floral tape.
