Hibiscus Miniature Clay Flowers

These are my first Hibiscus flowers made with cutters and home-made cold porcelain also called Air Drying Clay, it requires no baking only cooking !!
Many people are scared to try out cold porcelain recipe , the name sounds pretty intimidating, it took me some time to perfect the recipe but now I love it.
I have made 5 orange hibiscus flowers with the smallest hibiscus cutters, plenty of leaves and a couple of buds.
The pistil is made of wire coated with CP and tiny leftover pieces of clay used as pollen stuck with glue.It took several days to complete and dry the hibiscus bunch .

Slowly and surely clay flower making is overtaking my love for making candles. Maybe because unlike candles which need a host of special ingredients , CP requires only stuff easily available at home.

Miniature Flower Garden

After making several types of miniature flowers, the next step was to make a small garden. Right now the miniature blooms are resting in a box waiting to be planted. I have lots of roses, leaves, a few daffodils, cala lily ,carnations, tiny filler flowers.
Finally I took a small piece of thermocol and painted it green to give a grassy effect. The fence is made of white card paper inserted into the base. The yellow roses are planted at the back, and the other flowers placed according to height and color combination.Single white filler flowers, cala lily provide contrast.
This clay garden is 5" by 4" .

Miniature Cake-Tutorial

This is my maiden attempt at making miniature food. I have tried making a chocolate cake decorated with cream and cherries.
Its quite easy and I made this out of a very small amount of leftover cold porcelain on the verge of turning hard. So the crumbly look is natural and I did not make it !
PROCEDURE
1 Take a small ball of clay, mix little bit of brown and flatten it slightly.
2 Use a bottle cap or a small round cutter to cut out a round piece. Make two such pieces.
3 Scratch the surface of the two pieces and paint with deep brown to get chocolate color.
4 Stick on each other with glue.Paint choco color.
5 Cut the cake , yes , do it. Take out a triangular piece :)
6 You will see the inner part with the choco layer.
7 Now make tiny white balls and stick with glue to decorate the cake.
8 Use a red sketch pen to put a dot , cherries on the cream .
This is how I made this cake.Maybe if the cake is cut after the decoration then we can keep the piece of cake too.
Will definitely give it a try. This time I had to cut the cake to see the inner picture and it was just the way it should be !

Clay Miniature Garden

Miniature clay flowers are really very beautiful and make great gift items. They look fabulous on desktops, tables and counters. All these miniature plants are under 2" and super cute.
I find air dry cold porcelain clay easy to work with as its not messy and can be stored for long periods. My peers recommend the use of a pasta machine , not to make pasta but to make the clay as thin/or thick as desired .Right now I use kitchen methods like rolling the clay with a rolling pin and find it good enough.
I am also making the pots myself and the Swan vase is totally handmade.
Its a challenge to make miniatures and I love making them .

Clay Flowers-minis

This is a mixed bunch of miniature flowers which I made recently . There are roses, daffodils, tulips and some leaves . Its fun to make miniature flowers as a ball of clay goes a long way !
The container is a small jar of hand cream which they give as samples . Serves the purpose of a small vase quite well ! Its easy to find small bottle caps , tiny jars which can double up as vases for tiny flowers around the house itself.

Clay Daffodils -mini

This time my batch of Clay dough is being utilised for making miniature clay flowers .These daffodils have been made with cutters meant for other flowers.
The cheerful daffodils are small , perfect for keeping on counters and tables .
During my schooldays I read and learnt by heart Wordsworths poem Daffodils , the imagery remains etched in my mind of yellow daffodils dancing in the breeze !

"For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils."

I have never seen daffodil flowers in my life but would love to see them !

Clay dough Flowers

Clay flowers have become quite popular nowadays because they are non-toxic , non- allergic , eco-friendly and gorgeous .Clay dough is known by different names like lamasa , cold porcelain , Japanese clay , Thai clay and even branded clays available in the market .
Clay flowers look real as the clay can be made as thin as possible and painted to give natural shading. My peers suggest investing in a Pasta machine , not for making pasta but for thinning clay dough , cutters for making authentic flowers, tools , and of course branded good quality clay .
However these pink clay cold porcelain roses are handmade without the any cutters and tools .
