7 Months Old

Paislee celebrated her 7 month birthday on Monday

And in honor of her getting older she went to the Pediatrician's office and got a flu booster shot! Okay, okay, I guess that is not all that exciting but her first tooth came through! Her bottom right tooth is above the gums and the bottom left is not too far behind (judging by her behavior).

Our puppies are all doing well. They are 11 days old and starting to open their eyes. The "Chub" of the litter has both of her eyes open. and it will not be long until the rest open their eyes too. Mylee is proving to be a good little momma. One morning Lee caught her trying to move her litter onto the couch that is currently Paislee's bed. She only got one of her puppies up, but I am sure if we didn't catch he so early she would have moved all of them!
This must be where the term "DOG PILE" comes from.

Checkout the pups the arrows are pointing to! They are each on their backs, snug-as-a-bug.
It has been so fun watching them change and grow!

SEVEN?

Our cute little Mylee puppy had a litter of 6 puppies Sunday night!

There were 2 boys and 4 girls. Both boys were like the parents - dapple. Three of the girls were also dapple, and only one girl was black and tan like one of her grandparents. They are just the cutest little squeaky things. The betting was that she would only have 3 or 4 so she surprised us all by having 6.

In other puppy news, Lee found a blue heeler pup. I think he'll be the "ugly duckling" of the litter. Maybe he will even think he is a dachshund.

If The Shoe Fits

...Wear It

Our little P Jo is 6 months old and we are just enjoying every minute of her.

Her newest trick is sitting up!

This is her on her 6 month birthday playing with the toys at her Grana's house.

At her 6 month appointment we learned some new information about our little girl. She is in the 50th percentile with her weight and in the 5th 0r 15th ( We cannot quite remember) with her height. But her doctor said everything looks wonderful. He gave us some helpful hints about introducing solid foods, about reading to her, and about her little constipation issues ;)

I am still working 1 night (or day) a week. And that reminds me, my license expires in January. I guess I will have to get that renewed so I do not have to take that awful test again...blah.

Our little puppy is going to have puppies. This picture does Mylee absolutely no justice. She is humongous! If am feeling for her. Her back is going to be so sore because she has about 2 more weeks to go! She is getting really "clingy." She cannot jump up onto the couch anymore. The puppies are going to be so cute, we cannot wait. The dad, Woody, is the same coloring as Mylee, so they have a good chance of being cute dapple puppies.

In other news............We are renting a house............Finally
There is still a lot of work to be done:
1. Paint - walls, cupboards, ceilings, window trim
2. New door jams - front and side door
3. New floor in one bedroom
4. New carpet in 2 bedrooms
5. New tile in the hallway and bathroom
6. New kitchen floor
7. Washer and dryer to be installed
8. The stove to be put in
9. Blinds need to be cleaned and put back up
10. Clean/Sterilize EVERYTHING
and last but not least
11. MOVE IN
But there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel, no more 5th wheel for us!
I hope there is good news for fellow bloggers out there as well. Because even though the weather is dark and windy and threatening snow ( *smile* ) we are all blessed to live in this great world with all the freedoms we are lucky enough to enjoy!

Our Trip to California

Over the UEA holiday, our little family got together with my parents and brother and sister and took a vacation to California. This trip was planned for my little bro's graduation present and boy was it fun! We drove, took a 1 hour & 15 minute ferry ride over to Catalina Island, drove in the van some more, went snorkeling, window shopped, drove to the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, drove some more, went to Six Flags Magic Mountain, had some good food, and drove some more!

Our little one did so good with all the driving. The last 20 minutes were the worst.

This is all of us Snorkeling at Lover's Cove.
Grandma volunteered to watch the little one while we enjoyed snorkeling for the 1st time.

This is our little family on the Catalina Express after snorkeling.

At Magic Mountain. I just love Roller Coasters!

Cinnamon Champs

Last night, Lee and I participated in the Cinnamon Challenge...

and we came out VICTORIOUS! During our mutual activity which was about language, the Teachers put together a Cinnamon Challenge. The point of the challenge is to swallow a teaspoon of cinnamon with out throwing up. Sounds simple right...NOT. The moment you pour the cinnamon into your mouth, it dries up all of your saliva and it tastes like a tablespoon of Devil's Spit. If you ever participate in this challenge a word of advice - DON'T COUGH! The actual cough is not bad but the inspiration of breath that follows the expulsion of air is a killer. It causes a chain reaction and you cannot stop! I was coughing and blowing cinnamon everywhere, but I did manage to swallow the majority of the spoonful. Lee on the other hand, he made the challenge look like swallowing a spoon full of Splenda! He did not cough, did not blow any cinnamon out of his mouth. Way to go Lee. I hope Paislee is enjoying Cinnamon flavored milk, because I am sure there will be a hint of cinnamon for days to come!

One a more productive note, I have made some progress on my quilt!

All of the pieces are cut out and ironed the right direction. All that I have left to do is to sew!

The plan is to work on it again a week from Wednesday. I get together with a few ladies from the ward and it is a lot of fun, and I am learning a ton!

This is what each block is going to look like, They are 3D pin wheels.

I have decided that I am going to have to decorate my living room around the colors of the quilt when I have a living room to decorate! One day in the not so distant future this may become a reality, YEAH! Just waiting on the renters to fix up the house and let us move in, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

4 Months

This past Sunday, Paislee Jo turned 4 months old! We went to her check up and got all of her measurements and the "OK" to start solids, aka rice cereal!

Weight: 13 pounds 13 ounces (50th percentile)
Length: 22.75 inches (10th percentile)

This was taken on her 4 month birthday in her cool Canada sweatsuit in honor of her dad's mission to the Canada Halifax Mission.

Speaking of her father, I worked last night and she got to stay home with dad. This was all fine and dandy until feeding time, PJ would not take her bottle for anything. Lee called me in hysterics and said he would not watch our baby again unless she started taking her bottle! I told him to let her cry for a while and then try again when he and her were less frustrated at each other. For the next 30 minutes at work, I was out of my mind with worry, I didn't know how I was going to keep my License, because my working days were over. Then I got a phone call, and all was well at home, she settled down and took her bottle like the great girlie she is. I was once again able to concentrate on work, phew! Maybe things will be better when she eats solid foods when I am gone to work my one day a week.

The Past Few Weeks

The past couple of weeks have been super busy, to start off, I have joined a quilting group with a few friends. This originally was going to be a quilt for Paislee, but I couldn't pick out colors for her, and these are the colors I finally decided on. The quilt is supposed to be a beginner quilt and I hope that that remains true. It will have 3D pinwheels and a cute checker border. This will be my first ever quilt so I hope it turns out well. Just yesterday, Paislee got to go on her first ever horse ride. It seems like she enjoyed it, she didn't even throw a fit. This is Lee's horse, Kip, she is 3 years old and kind of skiddish still. (I myself am scared to death of her.) I hope Paislee grows up and isn't afraid of horses like her mom.
Now that it is summer and it is warm outside, Paislee and I have enjoyed walks, she just loves her front pack. We also have a little ball cap that fits her well and it is very cute. She is wearing it in this picture but it doesn't show very well, but her face is too cute in this pic.
Paislee is 3 1/2 months old now and she still loves to be burrito wrapped when it is nap time or time for bed. She looks like a little pea in a pod when she is wrapped up so tight. When she turned 3 months, she weighed 12 pounds and 8.5 ounces, and was 23 inches long, and she is still wearing 0-3 months clothes, but some are starting to get too short or tight.
One of Paislee's new talents along with drooling, is spitting up. She doesn't spit up after each feeding, so it is comes as a surprise each time. This particular time was mine own fault. I finished feeding her and she didn't burp right away, so I gave up and started to play with her. I lifted her up into the air and she spit up on the way down. Needless to say I had to take a picture, but was home alone so I propped the camera up on our table and got a picture.
We are having such an enjoyable life with Paislee this summer so far and just cannot imagine what we did with our time before Pais was around.
Luck to all,
♥Lee, Angie, and Paislee♥

Cutie Pie

Can I just say what a talented mother I have!
These pictures were taken at the Target Portriate Studio and Paislee did great! She stayed awake and was pleasant but not very smiley.
This is her blessing dress that was made by her aunt Kim and Granna.
Seeing her in the little white dress made me think of that song about the 3 white dresses of girls. We are on dress 1 of 3 - blessing dress, baptism dress, then wedding dress - it will be a few years before the other dresses come along! She is just the joy of our lives! It is hard to remember what it was like when she was not with us all the time.
Her cute round body makes the best "O"
This idea was borrowed from the photographer and her "special" pages, but mom - your picture is way cuter if I say so myself. It will be so fun when she can sit up on her own!

Our holiday experience was loads of fun! We went out to the city for a quick visit with the fam, a trip to Lagoon - it rained and rained and rained - still very fun. Then it was back home. A half shift of work, and celebration fun! There was fire works and food, and good company! Paislee did not enjoy the loud up in the sky fireworks...so we enjoyed the show through the window. Then we celebrated my 21st birthday. Complete with home made ice cream pie! Thanks Lee!
I guess our little family is doing well!

Forever Mine, Forever Strong

This morning I was talking to Pais and she started smiling...So I grabbed the camera. Then she didn't really want to smile anymore.

She yawned,

she cooed,
she made an angry face, and

finally...
I caught a Paislee smile on camera!

She is starting to interact more and more. She will coo and goo and smile and just be the best baby! But, she does have her moments like all babies do! Paislee is now 10 1/2 weeks old! At her 2 month appointment she weighed 11 pounds and 1.5 ounces (60th percentile) and was 21 inches long (20th percentile). She is short and chubby according to all the other babies with her birthday! It is so neat to know that she will be Forever Mine !

♥----------------------------------♥
Yesterday Lee, Paislee and I watched a movie! It is not a "feel good" movie...it is a "feel GREAT" movie (I stole that line from the extras). Forever Strong is the greatest movie I have seen in a while! I don't even care for Rugby and I enjoyed the show! I recomend it to everyone who needs an uplifiting evening! Then when you are through watching the movie, I suggest watching the extras. The real live coach Larry Gelwix seems like an amazing man! There is my tribute to the movie Forever Strong...watched it, loved it, wanna buy it!

Blessing Day

On the 31 of May, our sweet Paislee was blessed. It was a great experience to have. Family and friends came from near and far. Her beautiful dress was made by her Granna and Aunt Kim. She looked so beautiful in it. We had a little luncheon afterwards and it was a nice day until we all started eating...It started to rain. You gotta love the Uintah Basin weather, never predictable.
A little update on our little "weed," (I say weed because that is what she is growing like). When she was born she weighed 6 pounds and 12 ounces, at 2 weeks she weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces, and last monday she weighed 10 pounds 7 ounces. She was 19 inches when she was born, 19.5 inches at 2 weeks and she is 21 inches now. Her cheeks are starting to fill in nicely. She can wear 0-3 month outfits now. We had to put away all the newborn onsies, they do not snap anymore. The camera batteries are dead so no new pictures for a while.
♥Love to all, Angie♥

Picture Perfect

Today was just a plain old day. Nothing much to be done. I finished my book - Finders Keepers - very good by the way, we met Lee for lunch, and I put off doing the dishes for one more day :) Then I had the idea to have a home-made photography session with Paislee while she was happy and awake. I have seen pictures on photographer's blogs that looked similar to these so I had my go. I set up the couch with our favorite brown blanket, got her headband in place, took off her diaper and prayed she was finished with her business for the time being.

These are a few of our favorites:
(I am sure Paislee would agree if she saw them)

Well the pictures are a lot alike, but it was fun switching out the bows and trying to keep her legs all scrunched up. She is very photogenic, don't you think:)

The Joys of Motherhood

This is our sweet baby girl!

I truly don't know what I did with all the time I had when Paislee was in my belly??

It is such a different thing to have a baby in my arms instead of inside of me. I get nervous leaving her in her cradle for a few minutes while I change the sprinkler outside (you should see me run). A few weeks ago she would have just come with me, and not complained about it! I do get to clean the house more often...Doing dishes is becoming my favorite past time.* I also enjoy reading while I feed her. She is totally worth the nine months of pregnancy and the soreness of delivery!

*So I may be lying about the dishes thing but it does keep me from going crazy.

It must be hard being a baby with the hiccups

Here she is happy, but then...

Hiccup

She's okay again

Hiccup again

When she has a full belly, she loves to sit in her nursing pillow. She will have open eyes and just look around. Every once in a while she will wiggle her way down until her neck is kinked and then she gets very fussy.

Speaking of nursing, she does not like string cheese and chineese food. What a shame about the string cheese, I even tried it twice. Both times I ate string cheese, 6 hours later she was fussy after nursing.
I will miss string cheese. :(

This little outfit was ginven to her by her Granna.
It is so big but we played dress up and got some cute pictures.
This is her cute half smile she gets sometimes (mostly when dad talks to her).

This was dad's idea of a good picture...Mom did not object.

Hopefully they'll be the best of pals when Paislee grows up!

Mylee seems to like her but she keeps her distance. Only a couple of toe lickings.

Yesterday we got to get out of the house with Aunt Kim. We went to Vernal and had to stop at DI and see if there were any good deals. I had piles and piles (maybe 10 items of clothing) of treasures and narrowed it down to 5 cute pieces! All in great condition because they are 0-3 months or newborn size and the previous owner only wore them for a while. Another bonus was that they each cost only a dollar each! Steal Deal!

Before DI we stopped at the library, and on our way out of town we stopped at Wally World. Aunt kim was a great shopping companion, she held Paislee the whole time at Wal*Mart. One good thing about the 50 minute drive to Vernal is that Paislee loves her carseat. She sleeps or is content when we are moving, but stop to decide which diaper wipes are best and she gets angry.

It has been a great 2 and a half weeks and things will only get better. She is already sleeping for almost 6 hours at a time at night!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments on the previous post!

One Happy Family

Our first Family Photo

Last Thursday was an eventful day! We showed up at the hospital at 8:00 am and my water was broken by the doc at 8:30. I was up and walking for an hour and a half and my cervix was not changing like the nurses hoped it would...Therefore Pitocin (a drug to induce labor or as I called it the mean drug that brought on the contractions STRONG and HARD) was started. By the time I was dialated to 5 cm I was dying! All the contractions were felt in my back and I could not get comfortable for the life of me. Even with Lee rubbing my back and holding my hand I was beginning to think I wasn't going to make it to 10 cm. At that point in time I asked for the epidural! I recieved the epidural at 2:50 pm and felt awesome. At around 3:30 pm I had the strangest feeling that I needed to have a bowel movement. (s0rry about the graphic nature of that last sentence.) I told my nurse and she said that was a sign of being complete! I was checked and low and behold I was 9-10 cm. They decided rather than exhausting me by pushing too early, to let baby rest and decend on her own. At 4:30 pm I began pushing. The doc showed up at about 4:35 pm and at 4:44 pm Paislee Jo Nelson entered this world (at the time we did not know if she was going to be Paislee or Madelynn). It was nothing less than a miracle to see her for the first time. There were tears in my eyes, and the nurse's eyes...I work with wonderful girls! Lee told me he would have cried...except for the fact that he lost his tear duct's in 'Nam. Just joking Lee even had a few tears at that amazing time. My funny story about delivery was the delivery of the placenta. I had the strangest pull from behind my belly button. I said out loud that this is what it must feel like to disapperate! I don't believe the doc understood but us Harry Potter fans laughed out loud.
What a sweet swollen little face

Her going home from the hospital photo

It was a good experience at the hospital...But we were glad to be going home! She meet almost all of her Nelson/Hunsaker family while she was at the hospital. Lots of pictures were taken and an enjoyable time was had watching Sponge Bob Square Pants by both Lee and I. Eventually we got to go home at around noon on Saturday. My wonderful mother and little sister got to come for an extended visit - Saturday to Tuesday. They were the best help. I don't believe that all the dishes had been clean in a long time at the Nelson home. And no one is better at getting rid of the hiccoughs better than my little sister, way to go CB.

To our surprise, she is quite a good sleeper. Only 2 out of 6 nights were spent up and bouncing around the room to soothe Paislee. I know she is going to be a daddy's girl though. Whenever Lee comes home from work and says "hello" she turns to look at him and smiles. She has been a blessing already! We have taken picture after picture of our beautiful baby and just love to watch her even when she is doing nothing but sleeping. Yesterday she got to meet her grandpa Harry, she slept a lot but he did get to see her awake for a few hours.

I am so grateful for all the help offered to us this first week she has been home. Dinners from the Relief Society Sisters, My mom and Chels helping out, Lee getting drinks of water for me and holding my hand when Paislee is fussing, and my second family which lives so close and can help out on a moment's notice. It is pure truth that our Heavenly Father knows and loves us just by the simple fact that she will grasp my finger when I put it in her tiny little fingers. What a joy Paislee (Little Jo) has been in only a week's time...And we get to have her for forever!
