Just Because

So I haven't posted for some time...I am just such a slacker!

Today I decided that I was going to make my own header. So using photoshop I did just that. It was fun to make, I thoroughly enjoyed making it. I am grateful for the skills of the digital world that my mom has taught me!! ***Tell me what you think***

In a little over 2 weeks Our Little Girl will be 2 years old. I cannot believe it. She has the cutest little personality, with some strong"I am the only child attitude" mixed in. She is quick to scowl and stomp her foot at anyone who is doing something she doesn't approve of :)

Some fun facts about the two years that have flown by since our little girl was added to our lives: ~We lived in a camper for the first 8 months of her life!

~The hubby and I have worked for the same companies the whole two years.

~Pais learned to crawl at about 11 months old, and learned to walk at 14 months old.

~We have gone through 3 male wiener dogs, had 2 litters of the cutest puppies you've seen, goats, ducks, geese, lambs, one horse died we bought another one, chickens, gotten bunnies - had two litters of bunnies die, and I am sure many more animals I cannot think of.

~We got in a car accident, totaled our car, and had another car given to us.

~We have had weeks when I haven't cooked a homemade meal at all, and also had 2 weeks straight when I cooked each night never fail.

~There have been days when I let Pais terrorize the house because I couldn't put down a book.

~We have been on countless fun trips out to the city :)

~The whole family has been out of the state of Utah 3 times: 1 trip to California with the Cranes, and 2 times to Ft. Bridger Wyoming. I guess you could say 4 times if you count the trip we took to Nauvoo when I was pregnant.

~Lee and I have changed phones around 6 times, but only changed numbers twice. We have the worst lucks with cell phones :(

~Paislee has been bitten, scratched, burned, thrown down the stairs (wink, wink), even rug burned, and has very few permanent scars!

~Lee and I talk all the time about what we used to do with all of our free time?????????????????

The Past Few Weeks

The past couple of weeks have been super busy, to start off, I have joined a quilting group with a few friends. This originally was going to be a quilt for Paislee, but I couldn't pick out colors for her, and these are the colors I finally decided on. The quilt is supposed to be a beginner quilt and I hope that that remains true. It will have 3D pinwheels and a cute checker border. This will be my first ever quilt so I hope it turns out well. Just yesterday, Paislee got to go on her first ever horse ride. It seems like she enjoyed it, she didn't even throw a fit. This is Lee's horse, Kip, she is 3 years old and kind of skiddish still. (I myself am scared to death of her.) I hope Paislee grows up and isn't afraid of horses like her mom.
Now that it is summer and it is warm outside, Paislee and I have enjoyed walks, she just loves her front pack. We also have a little ball cap that fits her well and it is very cute. She is wearing it in this picture but it doesn't show very well, but her face is too cute in this pic.
Paislee is 3 1/2 months old now and she still loves to be burrito wrapped when it is nap time or time for bed. She looks like a little pea in a pod when she is wrapped up so tight. When she turned 3 months, she weighed 12 pounds and 8.5 ounces, and was 23 inches long, and she is still wearing 0-3 months clothes, but some are starting to get too short or tight.
One of Paislee's new talents along with drooling, is spitting up. She doesn't spit up after each feeding, so it is comes as a surprise each time. This particular time was mine own fault. I finished feeding her and she didn't burp right away, so I gave up and started to play with her. I lifted her up into the air and she spit up on the way down. Needless to say I had to take a picture, but was home alone so I propped the camera up on our table and got a picture.
We are having such an enjoyable life with Paislee this summer so far and just cannot imagine what we did with our time before Pais was around.
Luck to all,
♥Lee, Angie, and Paislee♥

One Happy Family

Our first Family Photo

Last Thursday was an eventful day! We showed up at the hospital at 8:00 am and my water was broken by the doc at 8:30. I was up and walking for an hour and a half and my cervix was not changing like the nurses hoped it would...Therefore Pitocin (a drug to induce labor or as I called it the mean drug that brought on the contractions STRONG and HARD) was started. By the time I was dialated to 5 cm I was dying! All the contractions were felt in my back and I could not get comfortable for the life of me. Even with Lee rubbing my back and holding my hand I was beginning to think I wasn't going to make it to 10 cm. At that point in time I asked for the epidural! I recieved the epidural at 2:50 pm and felt awesome. At around 3:30 pm I had the strangest feeling that I needed to have a bowel movement. (s0rry about the graphic nature of that last sentence.) I told my nurse and she said that was a sign of being complete! I was checked and low and behold I was 9-10 cm. They decided rather than exhausting me by pushing too early, to let baby rest and decend on her own. At 4:30 pm I began pushing. The doc showed up at about 4:35 pm and at 4:44 pm Paislee Jo Nelson entered this world (at the time we did not know if she was going to be Paislee or Madelynn). It was nothing less than a miracle to see her for the first time. There were tears in my eyes, and the nurse's eyes...I work with wonderful girls! Lee told me he would have cried...except for the fact that he lost his tear duct's in 'Nam. Just joking Lee even had a few tears at that amazing time. My funny story about delivery was the delivery of the placenta. I had the strangest pull from behind my belly button. I said out loud that this is what it must feel like to disapperate! I don't believe the doc understood but us Harry Potter fans laughed out loud.
What a sweet swollen little face

Her going home from the hospital photo

It was a good experience at the hospital...But we were glad to be going home! She meet almost all of her Nelson/Hunsaker family while she was at the hospital. Lots of pictures were taken and an enjoyable time was had watching Sponge Bob Square Pants by both Lee and I. Eventually we got to go home at around noon on Saturday. My wonderful mother and little sister got to come for an extended visit - Saturday to Tuesday. They were the best help. I don't believe that all the dishes had been clean in a long time at the Nelson home. And no one is better at getting rid of the hiccoughs better than my little sister, way to go CB.

To our surprise, she is quite a good sleeper. Only 2 out of 6 nights were spent up and bouncing around the room to soothe Paislee. I know she is going to be a daddy's girl though. Whenever Lee comes home from work and says "hello" she turns to look at him and smiles. She has been a blessing already! We have taken picture after picture of our beautiful baby and just love to watch her even when she is doing nothing but sleeping. Yesterday she got to meet her grandpa Harry, she slept a lot but he did get to see her awake for a few hours.

I am so grateful for all the help offered to us this first week she has been home. Dinners from the Relief Society Sisters, My mom and Chels helping out, Lee getting drinks of water for me and holding my hand when Paislee is fussing, and my second family which lives so close and can help out on a moment's notice. It is pure truth that our Heavenly Father knows and loves us just by the simple fact that she will grasp my finger when I put it in her tiny little fingers. What a joy Paislee (Little Jo) has been in only a week's time...And we get to have her for forever!

Thursday is the Day

Yeah for
We finally get to meet our little girl on Thursday. At 8:00 am Lee and I will treck our way to the hospital to have my labor induced.
On Monday I had my 39 week appointment and it was something else. I had the highest blood pressure yet and there was protein in my urine - both signs of toxemia. This made me a little nervous, I believe my doc was nervous as well...He told me go over to Labor and Delivery and have a Non Stress Test (NST) and have labs drawn. He then said that if my labs were abnormal, he would get me started that day! I was nervous at the last statement. My first blood pressure taken at the hospital was sky high!
As I was fretting about being induced that day, with no notice, there was a knock on my door and in walked Lee! He came and sat down by me while I was hooked up to the monitors and held my hand. My blood pressure steadily went down after his arrival...Thank goodness he has a good job and a great boss who let him leave without any notice.
After an hour and 15 minutes of monitoring and the arrival of my lab results - they were normal - I was told to come back on Thursday to be induced. I believe it would have been sooner except for the fact that Tuesday and Wednesday each already had 2 inductions scheduled. This is such a relief for both Lee and I. We know the day she is coming...no more guessing and stressing and being anxious. Although there is a chance that my water may break before then and if it does we will be ready!
When my pregnant belly finally did decide to show up, I had the great idea of showing off pictures each week. This did not happen, things get quite busy when you are trying to prepare for a baby. But I do have a few pictures to show off:

Sore Throat = Good

Monday night I got this horrific sore throat. It is keeping me up at night, not allowing me to use my voice, and it hurts like the dickins to sneeze or cough. I have been loving Halls cough drops at this present time. So I have suffered through this sore throat for 4 days now and you may wonder how this is a good thing?
On Wednesday afternoon I had a doctor's appointment. I was a few minutes late and my usual nurse was not there. Therefore I thought I was going to have a horrible appointment: high blood pressure, enormous weight gain, the whole enchilada. But it turns out I gained no weight and my blood pressure was down!!! I was so happy. When the doc finally did come in he told me that I should have gotten a sore throat earlier to help my blood pressure. What a funny thing.
One more thing that I should mention about my appointment was that I am dialated to about 2cm. The doc also mentioned starting me next week if my cervix is more favorable. I am going to try and do everything I can to try to start my labor before then so I can do it naturally, but if nothing works out I will be all for an induction.
Speaking of nothing working out...Trying to induce labor I mean...Let me tell you what has not worked:
  • Dragging the field = failure.
  • Jumping on the tramp = failure. (Not only jumping but doing back flips)
  • Doing chores around the ranch = failure.
  • Believing my dog ate all the chickens (shock) = failure.
  • Telling the baby myself that it is time to come = failure.
  • Having a baby shower a week and a day before I am due = failure.
I guess if the weather gets better I will have to go walking, but who wants to go walking with the wind whipping everything around? Not me. Well Both Lee and I are out of our minds wondering when our baby is going to come...All in due time.

A DAY IN OUR LIFE

This morning I woke up at 5:10am, got ready and was at work by 5:48am. I listened to report, and went to work. I had 2 patients, did their assessments, and got comfortable, waiting to check on them again. Today I also had a doctor's appointment so I went over to the clinic at 9:00am and listened to baby's heart beat, and had my uterus measured. Then I had to go through a Glucose Tolerance Test to check for gestational diabetes. The drink was chuck full of sugar and not to mention NASTY. Once the hour was up, I had my blood drawn. It hurt a little, but it feels okay now. I hoped today would be a slow day, but there are 2 in labor. So I just wait and wait and wait. They could deliver at any time. But as you are reading along, you notice that there is not much going on at the moment because I am Blogging. Well that is what is going on with me today. Speaking of the Love of my Life, Lee is at work now. His second day at his new job. We were supposed to meet up for lunch, but I didn't think I could get away, and I think he may be mad at me at the present time. But I love him all the same! Hopefully I can give him a ride home from work and he will be happy. But I was thinking that tonight we will have tacos for dinner.
