M-I-C-K-E-Y

We just got home last night from a family trip to Disneyland!!! What a great time, it truly is the happiest place on earth. The boys loved it and were quite the dare-devils...Big Thunder Railroad and Splash Mountain were their favorites! The Buzz Lightyear ride was a huge hit too. Maddie handled the flying and traveling just fine. All of that worrying for nothing and she didn't even have to be in a bubble! Life felt more normal than it has in a long time and worries about "heart stuff" were far from my mind. I even threw away the feeding log! Big step for me after recording every ounce she's eaten since first coming home!!! We saw more rain than sun which was a real bummer. Coming from 20 degree weather, we were so looking forward to sunshine in the 70's...not being soaked! We did get a few glimpses of the sun which made Maddie's cheeks break out into an awful rash (reaction to her Bacterim I think). Bryan's folks went for the first part of the vacation and it was fun having Papa and Grandma Allred with us, especially having all of their help with the kids. Three is a great number but keeps us hopping! We ate lots, enjoyed our hotel, the boys got to swim (that's all they wanted to do the first day we were there), received some autographs and pictures with a few characters, had plenty of bathroom trips, walked LOTS, caught a parade, and also got a little shopping in at the Downtown Disney District.

Carlie (a heart friend from Southern California), her mom, and big sister, Caiteyn, met us one afternoon at Disneyland as well and it was so great visiting with them. Carlie is a doll, has TONS of energy (she's almost 3) and you couldn't tell that she's a HRHS kiddo. She's through all of her surgeries and doing fantastic. What an inspiration for us to see! Thanks Shannon and girls! We loved spending time with you guys and just wished we lived closer :)

We ended our trip with a day at Sea World and enjoyed the shows, aquariums and the relaxed atmosphere. All in all, it was a wonderful trip and I was sad to come home (could have used a couple more days plus it was so beautiful the day we flew home, go figure!)

Here's a little slide show of pictures from the vacation...

I'm so glad you had fun! Isn't disneyland wonderful?? Maddie looks fantastic and you would never guess she had any heart issue at all. I can't wait for the day that Owen rids of all his tubes.

I love all the pictures but my fav is the one with the boys and Maddie is standing with them like a BIG girl!

Glad you threw away the feeding log. ;)

Katie,
How fun for all of you and what a nice little break. You all deserve it that is for sure. I am so glad it all went well. Too bad it didn't sunshine the whole time. Anything is better than 4 degrees though. Maddie looks great and how special for the boys. It has been a long year for all of you and to be able to let loose I am sure was refreshing. Take Care,
Love Ya.. Randee
