    nov...

well supposed to be studying due to my analytical paper for tomorrow, but totally not in a mood to do so hence just a short update.

went HK for a week from the 3rd to the 9th. wasnt a trip that i was expecting to go on week 12 and 13, but oh well its a lab group trip and boss wouldnt be happy if we miss it for any reason, so here we go! thankfully SQ was having promotion on the air ticket so we managed to go on SQ instead of Tiger Airway when during that period of time they were having so much problems with airplane cancelation. was a rather okay trip which i feel wasnt the right time i supposed, and we couldnt get proper sleep due to the da pai dang that was opposite the street. but the location of the hotel was still reasonable though. covered the usual places, and the days that we spent with boss were raining! can you believe it. especially the day when we were supposed to go hiking up one of the peaks on lantau island and most of us were nearly blown off the trek due to severe weather omg. but nevertheless we did enjoy the great food that boss treated, and i think he really put in a lot of great effort in planning the itinery (though half the time i was hoping to go on our own). the highlight which i enjoyed the most was the view at causeway bay which we went on the free day. just take a look at the photo and you'll know why. fantastic view, fantastic weather, great company =) much better than the beaches that we can get here. just chilling out on the beach feels great and relaxing. for the photos refer to my album on fb =)

then a meet up with the guitar peeps! yet another nice catch up though all the surprise that we were trying to plan failed. nevertheless, what matters is the first class company =)

a lot of things on my mind recently which i am resolving slowly. work is getting piled up, though the main important point was i finally managed to change my co-supervisor. don't know whether its a great move, because i'll be spending more time at IMRE A*star and its a totally new area, and i will be away from my usual lab. a change in environment too. 2 new sups at imre, always a 4 people (me and the 3 supervisors inside the ED office) meeting. stressful and we've a timeline to meet, given that im starting 1 sem behind everyone else thanks to the Re project. yet at least im off from the crutches from the one who gave me nightmare for months. wonder if im jumping to new tiger dens. other things are on my mind too and i'll need to handle it carefully and slowly with a lot of personal adjustments in terms of mindset and emotions. just hoping everything will turn out okay eventually.

will be heading to xiamen from the 30th dec to 6 jan, to accompany val to visit her friend. probably one of the main highlight will be the xiamen international marathon on the 2nd jan. contemplating between the 5km and the 10km due to the cut off timings. 1.5 hrs for 10km is definitely pushing for me but 5km is rather achievable. need to make the decision quick because the difference in climate will make a difference too. nevertheless it will be the first running-only race for me, and i look forward to it. currently planning my race calendar for next year. surf and sweat in feb is a staple event for us with 800m surfboard and 6km run this year. looking at nus biathlon, legs and paddles, real run and perhaps bay run. im hoping to take part in 10km runs more often, and that means i will need to get more used to running longer distance after the mad running of 2 * 5+km this week. hoping that my knee cap stays intact. sundown looks tempting too (if only its logistic wasnt that bad last year)

okay time to finish up studying for my 7pm paper tmr! sigh. hoping that i don't fall asleep like my previous paper haha.
