    nov II...

ubin trip with den, hy, gab and val! =)

yeah! its the end of exams! woohoo! i actually ended on tuesday and it is the earliest day in history for me to end exams so early. cui-ed all my 3 papers but who cares haha. going overseas for half a year took me some time to get accustomed back to mugging for nus exams whereby you really need to mug super duper hard unlike in overseas we can really relax a bit and they cant test you much difficult stuff. but ending earlier also means that i have to go back lab earlier and start work on my progress report due on first week of school. finally moving on to doing oxidation stuff but probably need to suffer from all the resynthesizing steps again. and likely to move on to carbenes as well which i am not looking forward to. see how it goes.

and after exams, went ubin on wed! luckily for us the weather was pretty nice or rather it was too nice and some of us got sunburnt (but i didn't). covered basically the whole island doing the main roads instead of those scary and dangerous trails which i did before the last time i went with my relief teachers. was rather fun to go there with different groups of people, this time was with my lab people. covered the island within probably around 3 to 4 hours before heading off. and i injured yet again my poor knee cap (while getting off the bumboat and it was super dumb) and sprained my ankle! thanks to a woman who cycled too close to me and made me cycle off the track and so i sprained my ankle while breaking my fall. till now i am still recovering from it, and spend thurs at home while i initially wanted to go out. and my plans for running for tomorrow had to be put off. SIGH. but nevertheless the ubin trip was fun and i finally revisited the 'ulu' tampines (to me thanks to the distance) again after so long. the last visit was even before school started haha.

and marie (my corridor mate from US) came by singapore yesterday! she was in transit in SG before heading to indonesia and i was excited to see her. brought her around orchard and she was impressed by ion orchard. due to the short time she had i couldn't bring her to much places. brought her to chinatown too. initially she wanted to eat at maxwell market but the store that she wanted to patronise is closed. so we ended up eating that the food street (which is expensive to eat there). treated her pepper crabs and prawns which cost me near to 60 bucks! its so omg. at least she enjoyed the food there and it was pretty nice except for the steep prices. and im glad she said she enjoyed herself and i look forward to bringing her to the city hall area the next time she comes by and treat her to steamboat!

and its back to the lab for me for next week daily till the end of holidays before removing my last 2 wisdom teeth on friday which leaves me with no wisdom ahah. and probably i can take the chance to lose some weight as well with the reduced food intake from inability to eat well haha. okay jiayous to those who havent finish exams and those who finished enjoy your holiday! =)

    nov...

a day out at barrage ages ago!

okay finally yet another update to waste some time before trying to study for my exams which will END in 9 days. YES 9 days haha. just 3 papers this time with 1 open book one on saturday and 2 close book mad memorising mods on tuesday concurrently one after another. this time probably i am more relaxed. done 1 round for all mods already thanks to the stupid tests on week12 and 13 testing on EVERYTHING for my 2 chem cores. so what's left is just the medication mod which needs a lot of brain juice. =(

done with my lab TA job for this sem. its been fun but tiring being a TA. my friend was saying that we can have a good laugh at the 'noobs' in the lab, but i beg to differ so because we have been there and doing all that kind of stuff before. the blur looks on our faces and seeing what other people was doing and just copying the same thing actually reminded me of my old days in the lab doing level1000 and 2000 modules. its quite nice to know that the students actually appreciate the TAs though we might not be there everytime they needed help and different TA might say different things especially for my buddy TA and I who always beg to differ on our views from the main in charge. and i am glad that this time there is no feedback on the TAs (or probably not for us the honors students) though i am curious on what kind of feedbacks that i might get haha. i spent 2 to 3 freaking days marking all the lab reports (around 150 scripts) and thanks to one stupid guy i need to go down to the lab and mark separately. had my good laugh over some parts (e.g. the separatory funnel will EXPLODE with built up pressure inside if the stopcork is not open periodically) but yet sad for some who don't do well for their reports thanks to their poor separation techniques. especially when you are marking your friend's script or someone you know its much harder and we cant really 'close eyes and mark' because it will be unfair to other students and we do have a marking scheme to follow. well in summary i would say it is a great and satisfying experience despite the long time spent when i could have done more on my own experiments and not trouble my mentor too much. guess i wouldnt be doing it next sem sadly due to mad rush of FYP next sem =(

and i have started to exercise more regularly thanks to val who got my butt off the chair to move more. starting to see some effect after my regular runs and swims and some sports. and we went for some fitness boot camp back on thurs which was free and it was madness. the one hour exercise that we had totally killed us and gave us aches for 2 to 3 days and so i nua-ed. but at least i start to pick up weights as well when i am bored at home haha. and after so many years i have finally succeeded in finish 2.4km nonstop! (super slow and lag i know haha). aim to take part in surf and sweat next year which needs to run 6km and hopefully regular running will let me finish the race nonstop!

okay time to stop crapping and start studying harder for me to pull up my cap. after exams will be heading to ubin i think then back to lab! =( jiayous everyone! and happy birthday to the nov babies! =) tada~
