    may IV...

decided to post up this collage of my family in disneyland, hongkong since i kinda miss them too and can't wait to see them again =) (and to hopefully compare it with the disneyland in paris that i am going =P and p.s.: da that was the chip n dale photo that reminded me of ya =P)

well for the first time i don't have to check my results online since i didn't take any exams at all in nus so it was a rather relaxed feeling~ happy for my friends who done well! for those who didn't its okay work harder! =) checked the results for my bro! and he done really very well! woohoo! finally graduating with the.. first class! woohoo! was super happy when i checked his results. especially for his fyp which he spent a lot of time on and deserve his grade. great for him and i hope i can sneak in for his commencement! =) and will be there for the chemistry people's commencement as well! =) congrats people! =) will be pretty sad at the same time to go back to school in august and realise a lot of people have graduated blehs. less people, less fun and laughter, less people for pink table gatherings and so on. but life's got to go on. people come and go. but friendship is always there =)

5 more days to exams! and i am still having trouble studying haha. started to email profs as well. hoping that prof hor will reply first before i email another prof maybe prof vin. most probably doing organometallics since i have done so much studying on it already. hoping i can get those projects during balloting!

yup! went for the singaporeans' bbq last night at delphi. pretty nice and cosy and it is the last few times for us to gather like that in Lund and i found out that many people are actually leaving earlier than i am. though i am not close to them but they have provided me company when i was feeling lonely and bored in lund so its kinda sad that we cant meet again like before. nevertheless it was nice meeting and hanging out with them and at least i knew more people around =)

okay just a account of my june trip dates~ 5th-7th london, 8th-9th paris, 10th-11th geneva, 12th-13th milan, 14th pisa, 15th florence, 16th rome, 17th-18th madrid, 19th-20th dublin, 21st-22nd edinburgh, 23rd manchester, 24th-25th cardiff, 26th-27th oxford, 28th cambridge/london, 29th lund, 30th HOME =D its pretty hectic to do so many places in a short time, but i hope its going to be fun! =) anyone who wants to get anything from the places drop me a message in the tagboard~ =)

meanwhile back to studying again. last dinner tonight with singaporeans again. this could probably be the last post before i reach back SG. seeya people and meanwhile take care! =)

    may III...

okay if u see this rather frequent update means i am not studying and wasting my time away before exams! 8 more days to exam and i am half done (though i don't remember much haha). and i'm here to introduce you guys my new friend.. moosie!

hello moosie! it says 'it's sweden!' on its shirt!
and its emo-ing. looking out of my window on a sunny day =)

bought this from the souvenir shop! its sooo cute! my moose to remind me of the time spend in sweden other than the meatballs (and yes i have taken moose meat before blehs.) its so cute but sadly i can't bring it for travelling. soft toys are so cute yet they have not much practical use to it other than to hug, play and sit in the cupboard / bed but i just can't get enough of them haha. ohps. think my parents will kill me haha.

yup! 9 more days to leave lund. and i thought i will post a photo of the letters that accompanied me so far. thanks to sandra n joo for the farewell gift u all gave me at the airport! i flipped to look at the photos okie! and da for the postcard from switz! (i don't bear to pin it up so its safely in the envelop!)! and roofy vicky for the postcards from sg! and my dearest san who posted a letter to me that immediately made me happy once i saw that handwriting! =)

    posts on my board! =)

okay back to studying. 35 more days to home! 37 more days to KL! =)

(p.s. happy early bday to chau! =) and this got to be one of my shortest post ever.)

    may II...

my own tub of ben and jerry's for less than 10 SGD! =D

with my lab partner chinma, lab TAs magnus and carlos and classmate kourosh =)

yup! official lessons ended for me! happily survived through 15 sessions of lab (though we only took around 12 but spend extra 2 cleaning the fumehoods and lab) but had the fiercest weekend of clearing 3 lab reports within 4 days totally without any references (aka senior's lab reports) which i am quite proud of myself. learnt how to depend on scientific papers and online resources and the limited books i have here to finish up the reports! glad to say that i've learnt a lot from the labs! and above is the picture taken with my 2 TAs carlos and magnus as well as with chinma my lab partner and the guy who keep asking questions for n times kourosh. nevertheless we had fun in the lab. its much more fun than lab back in nus. probably due to less people in 1 lab and we can mingle around more often. =)

currently having a 2 weeks break before my exam on the 4th and i am leaving lund exactly in 2 weeks! will definitely miss lund, the nice and quiet town with friendly swedes around who are really friendly and helpful if you approach them. even when i am cycling around the cars will always give way to the bikes and thanks to them i have no problems biking on the roads except for the horrible buses. been biking for a week since my bus concession ended and its really tiring to bike to school which takes around 15 minutes but its upslope all the way. but luckily there's nice weather these days with more sun and i managed to get a bit of tan back =) jackets are only needed at night when we go out =) spring's nice! lund's nice! but home's nicer! =)

currently on my countdown is 40 days back to SG and 14 days in lund, hence meaning 26 days of travelling! okie 1 day less for my 12 hours flight back haha cum the loss of 6 hours more when i reach back SG due to the time differences. will go on a food spree after i come back! woohoO! and will be spending my birthday out of town over the weekend in KL with my family! going KL 2 days after i come back meaning that i will most likely be resting at home adjusting from jet lag but hopefully will be able to meet up with friends and perhaps some profs to discuss about my fyp which is currently hanging there. and really really hope that i wouldn't get quarantined when i get back since the places i am going all now having swine flu especially with london and spain which are more serious. hopefully the swine flu will die down else i will be missing my KL trip and some of the chem shark's commencement on the 8th.

and yup gotta start studying on my organometallics. no motivation to study yet but i don't want to fail my exam! though there are 2 reexaminations but i would have to spend moolah and time flying back just for it. oh yeah i survived though a seminar presenting on some scientific paper and i thought i did rather well for it. one of the lecturers didn't even bother asking me questions and i wonder if that's a good or bad sign. okie need to get all distractions away from me while i study for it. missing the condusive environment in sci lib or rather the people who study with me. blehs.

and my bro will be heading to mit in september! woohoo! so proud of him! he's doing a masters in chem eng which is a collaboration between nus and mit! cool! and he's getting some sponsorship for his studies which will be great. hopefully the swine flu in US will get better and i hope to visit him as my year end trip! =) boston! =) poor papa and mama have to webcam with another child after 1 just come back for 2 months lol. at least its only 4 months and not 6 months like mine =) and my bro's is going with his good friend whom i know and he had been in overseas internship so i guess its nothing to him =) and i am excited to try and smuggle into his commencement when i come back! =D though it will be boring to sit there for hours. =X

missing home and everyone back then! will be reaching back in SG on 1/7/09 at 0520H! woohoO! and after this exchange i am pretty sure that i wouldn't be heading overseas again for masters or phd since i would be really much happier in SG compared to now but this exchange had taught me a lot of stuff like getting to be more independent and learning to opening up myself, doing enough self-reflection and needing self-discipline. its really an enriching but expensive experience but i am glad i came despite all the things that happened. from this i also know who really cares for me especially my family and my friends! thanks all for keeping me company cyberly online when i needed someone to talk to. 40 days and we shall meet again! tada~

    may...

combination of a series of jump shots around 3 countries =)

hmmm been madly stuck in lab for the past few weeks. luckily lab is ending next week already with the experiments ending soon and hoping that bad karma will leave me and my lab partner. we've been having a lot of problems with our experiments getting our product and the NMR of spectra does not follow the theoratical results. sigh hope our last experiment will be alright though we do not have enough catalyst for next part. SIGH. and lab reports are to be done. SIGH. no motivation for now. totally in holiday mood sigh though work is piling up with seminars to prepare and papers to be read =( who says exchange is relaxing? =(

and i wonder how the master students from other countries manage to get into the master programme when they can't even do simple mole concept questions and read the lab manual and consult us or the TAs before EVERY STEP. its written in details in the lab manual and they ask repeated questions. somemore the guys are like 30 years old and they can't rely on themselves to carry out synthesis of compounds! its just unlucky me and chinma have to stand their answering and kaypohing every now and then in the lab. in class this guy just keep borrowing notes from me and they can't listen to what the teacher is saying! what is the world coming to! they even photocopied my notes! grr. not going to mention any nationalities but they are all guys. sigh. i am just too nice to reject. enough of whining i guess. the course is going to end in less than 2 weeks time and i have another 2 weeks to study for it which i really need to because it just pretty tough to handle with organometallics. =( needs to stop playing games and watching youtube and start working =(

and swine flu / H1N1 hits the world. currently out of the 7 countries i am heading to 6 of them has cases of H1N1 case. we didn't really cancel our trip but we are all monitoring the situation. even sweden now has 1 confirmed case sigh. all my tickets are booked and if i forfeit my place i will still need to pay back gh they all at least 1k+ SGD for the flight and train tickets. its just our luck that this has to happen while we are all on exchange. but hopefully the flu will turn better and not end up like SARS 6 years back. though i really think SG is a bit over paranoid over the swine flu by raising the alert level to orange then back to yellow again but sometimes its better to be more prepared to stop any possible outbreaks. and i have nothing to say over what mexico has been claiming over the quarantine measures by other countries and stuff. was tempted to just say close their borders since many cases of many countries originated from mexico itself but its rather irresponsible to say that. however, despite their pompous behaviour, it is commendable that they did a rather good job to control the spread of flu. but if i eventually did not go for my trip it means that i will be heading home earlier by 1 month which is not too bad i guess =)

enough of serious stuff. nothing interesting much happening these days except for the last day of april where it is suppose to have the valborg bonfire. was up early in the morning at 7.30am to have breakfast with my corridor mates before heading to the park for the wonderful and rare sun shining the whole day! the weather was almost similar to SG except for the chilly winds occasionally and if you are under shade you will get cold easily. i've got a bit of tanned and was happy. joined the SG people but got bored and went back home before joining my corridor mates again back to the park. everyone was basically drunk in the park from drinking since early in the morning (yes i started to drink around 8am) till at night. wine cider yada yada. its a day of drinking for the swedes to so call celebrate the arrival of spring. everyone was just sitting out in the sun, some having bbq and playing ball or card games and drinking games. but the whole park was seriously filled with thrash when i was back at 4pm with almost every area covered and you can't see the grass at all. poor volunteers have to clean up n piles of rubbish and the people did not even bothered to clean up what they drink and even let their mat there. its so freaking inconsiderate and it seemed at least 10 times worst than what we see in SG after count down and events. but overall it was a pretty nice day to know more and hang out with my corridor mates =) labor day most shops were closed and i've only seen a small demostration along the road outside the train station. thought there will be major demostrations. seems like the saying of the swedes do not like to complain is true eh lol. had ice cream out in the sun and was feeling extremely cool. =)

bought my first tub of ben & jerry's ice cream here after 4 months! cost slightly less than 10SGD. going to eat later to share with my corridor mates who've been treating me that since i am here. going to start cooking for them to clear my food stock as well before i leave in less than 1 month's time which is pretty fast i guess. at first it was pretty hard to get by with the harsh winter and lack of people that i know over here. now that i have gotten used to being alone most of the time and sometimes hanging out with some SG people and my corridor mates the days pass really quickly. or rather i think its due to my hectic course. but nevertheless i will be going home soon to meet everyone! yippee! 54 days to reach back SG! =) meanwhile happy holidays guys! =) and happy birthday to the may babies! to ys and my mummy n chau! =)
