Fabric Find: Brunschwig & Fils Treganza Chintz

This ridiculous chintz by Brunschwig & Fils called Treganza (I think) is for sale on eBay for some great prices - 5 and 6 yard pieces for around $200. I SO wish I had a chair that needed upholstery.

The blue colorway is listed here for $210 for 6 yards.

The yellow colorway is listed here for $175 for 5 yards.

Those are some good deals for such a vibrant fabric. Look at all of those colors! I would upholster a small club chair in either of them (though, if this is your plan, definitely check that's enough yardage as I imagine that pattern is tricky).

If a whole chair won't work, dining room chair seats would be bananas. Enjoy!

Fabric Deal: Brunschwig Chenonceaux

I just found a spectacular deal on one of my favorite fabrics on eBay. Raise your hand if you love Brunschwig & Fils' Chenonceaux.

It has always been a favorite of mine. And I just found 6 yards of the pinky/green colorway on eBay for $160!!! That's RIDICULOUS.

See the listing here »

I'm really trying not to hoard fabric these days so I'm walking away but the next best thing to buying is sharing. Tell me if you get it! And how you'll use it! (I would opt for upholstering a small chair)

Vintage Hermes for Your Wall

Apparently my theme this week is see it, like it, let me tell you where to get it. Those are always fun posts.

Love everything about this vignette below, as photographed by Porter Hovey for the book Heirloom Modern, except for maybe the suitcase trunks (never really got on that train). But I especially love the look of the framed scarf. The feminine, vintage quality is stunning against the other quirky elements making up the arrangement.

Did a little digging and found that the scarf is the "Regina" pattern by Hermes. And you can find it on eBay like this one:

Framing scarves is nothing new but I think pairing a vintage scarf like this with modern elements is a really fresh take on the look. And your scarf need not be a $300 Hermes situation...vintage scarves are so easy to come by on Etsy and eBay in every pattern, color and price point available. And their large scale make for a great wall-filler.

Brunschwig Barbados

I love hunting fabrics on eBay because I never know what I'll find. And though I do purport to be a fabric specialist, I by no means know all the patterns ever made by all manufacturers (though I'm trying!) eBay always serves up a nice arrangement of current, vintage and hard-to-find fabrics in patterns that are familiar as well as unknown (to me, anyway).

My latest find is this new-to-me pattern called Barbados from Brunschwig & Fils:

I love fern-type patterns and this fabric has that tropical fern-like vibe but with a beautiful color twist. LOVE the emerald green with turquoise and mustard. I think Pantone has brainwashed me because now I'm seeing emerald EVERYWHERE...and loving it.

How would I use this? Likely in sunroom. Or maybe in a bedroom paired with some of the softer hues in the fabric.

The ebay listing is for a wee piece but that's sometimes the best way to get designer fabrics...in smaller affordable doses that can be used for pillows. I haven't bought this one, so it's up for grabs!

Le Lac in Blue

I know I have been talking about Le Lac a lot lately, but what can I say? It's on my mind since I am constantly referring back to it for the nursery.

I recently found it in a to-die-for blue colorway on eBay. Gorgeous!

Did I mention that when I pulled the trigger on my own Le Lac, I didn't know if I was having a girl or a boy? Well, I knew  in the sense that my intuition was screaming girl but a medical professional had not given me confirmation. So it was a tad bit of a risk...I think Le Lac can work for a boy's nursery albeit the task is a little more challenging. But in this blue colorway? Oh dear, it's perfection. And could you imagine a dining room done in this fabric??

It is not inexpensive at $1,233 for 3 yards (ouch). But it's mighty pretty.

Clarence House Mougins

I completely fell in love with this fabric, Mougins by Clarence House, when I spotted it on the CH website a few weeks ago. Aren't the colors superb? I believe the fabric is much closer to a white background than this image, but either way, I think it's wonderful!

And, the best part is that I found an eBay listing for it - 8 yards for $295, which is a great deal. Lucky you if you're interested - sadly, I have to walk away. If you buy it, please tell me how you'll use it!

Happy Monday!

Good Loot Comes to Those Who Wait

I've been jonesing for some wheat sconces for a while (I want to say something like 9 months). Knowing that my fireplace mantel would one day be complete, I always had the thought of finding a great mirror and flanking it with some big sconces.

In deciding what these sconces should be like, I always turned to those jazzy coral sconces Ruthie Sommers used in her living room that we saw in domino:

What I liked most about the sconces wasn't their coral-ness (although very nice) but actually how they projected from the wall. I liked that they were sculptural and quirky.

As I dove into a search for a pair of sconces to call my own, somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the wheat motif. I think the first time the wheat theme called to me was when I found an awesome pair of vintage white tole sconces on Etsy for a steal of $35. I debated and debated - still not fully confident that I could put large, sculptural sconces in our living room (perhaps too grand/traditional for the space). So as I thought and thought...someone else bought them. And of course, as soon as they did, I totally regretted my decision and doubled my efforts looking for wheat sconces.

A great example of these sconces via Lonny:

So, it's been months since my Etsy darlings passed me by and I've been scouring Etsy, eBay, flea markets, etc. to find a good vintage pair (within my budget - always key)...and finally, it was my day yesterday! And perfect timing since I'm making fireplace mirror decisions.

Behold my loot:

I found them on eBay for $35 (and a respectable shipping fee) - the seller had relisted them because the previous buyer hadn't paid up (and I had actually missed them the first go around). Woohoo! These are actually better than the Etsy pair because they are gold, which is what I originally wanted.

I think they might work well next to my free mirror, which I will paint gold to match. I think the traditional motif will work nicely against the geometrics and color of my living room.

Once again, patience wins. I need to remember that...

PB Chinoiserie on eBay

Every now and again, Pottery Barn showcases a pattern (typically in bedding and/or pillows) that catches my eye...a while back (I think it may have been years?) this to-die-for bedding graced their catalog...

Do you remember it? I obviously went wild for it with its Chinoiserie theme (in a silhouette no less) and it's bold orange colorway...I was in love. But, I didn't get it because I'm sure it was oodles of money and not "practical" (I was naive).

So, like many things, I forgot about this pattern as time has passed but a recent eBay search inadvertently brought this bedding up in a search result, and all of those old feelings came back. I crushed once more...

I can't get over the orange. And it has me seriously rethinking every bedroom in my house, but alas, I am resisting the urge - a huge exercise in self control.

If you love this pattern as much as I do, some wonderful soul is selling the bedding set in Queen and King sizes on eBay. Do share if you bring it home so I can live vicariously through you!

eBay Fabric Searches

Last week, I posted about some fabric I found via eBay and I received a question from Alison asking how I go about conducting my searches. So I thought I would share...

I mainly search fabric manufacturers' names, unless there is a specific pattern name that I am trying to find. I also usually have more luck searching eBay Stores, so don't forget to search for your term in eBay Stores in addition to regular listings.

I search each term below one at a time. Type in the word "fabric" after each of these:

Schumacher
Greef
Lee Jofa
Kravet
Clarence House
Cowtan (for Cowtan & Tout, but you usually only need the Cowtan bit)
Thibaut
Duralee
Brunschwig (for Brunschwig & Fils)
Scalamandre
Osborne (for Osborne & Little)
Quadrille
Manuel Canovas
Robert Allen
P Kaufmann
Ikat

A sampling of what you might find:

Schumacher (I am TOTALLY in love with this print)

Lee Jofa

Thibaut

Kravet

Fabric junkies out there, what are your favorite search terms? Please share in the comments...

Chiang Mai and eBay Fabric Loot

As I mentioned post-Navidad, I was the uber-grateful recipient of a yard of Chiang Mai Dragon (Schumacher) fabric in the aquamarine colorway for Christmas (thanks to my in-laws Holly and Jerry - thank you, thank you, thank you!)

What's funny is that even before I knew Chiang Mai would be in my future, I was already designing my living room around it. It started with my obsession for the color green...followed by the pairing of said green with aqua...followed by touches of orange and navy. It's as if I was willing my room to morph into some echo of this iconic fabric.

And now, I actually have this fabric to pull all of the colors in my living room together. I will be using it to cover the seat of a white cane chair that sits in our living room (I will also make a matching pillow for the back of the chair).

Now that I have my dominant fabrics covered (Chiang Mai and Sassari Ikat), I am looking for accent fabrics to make some additional pillows to litter the sofa and armchair in the living room (I mean litter very lovingly...Carter would actually mean it as litter...he's not too keen on pillows).

So I turned to my trusty fabric source, eBay...it never lets me down (although I will say that fabric hunting on eBay can sometimes be an exercise in patience). I came across two remnants that I snatched up for fun accent pillows:

One is a vintage Greek key Lee Jofa print in a beautiful deep coral:

And the other is a vintage Robert Allen fabric called Libretto:

Loved the small-scale pattern on both to juxtapose with large patterns on my dominant fabrics. Each remnant is just big enough for a pillow front - so I'll back each with a coordinating fabric. And each was under $10 bought from this eBay store.

Pictures to come once the pillows are complete...I'm thinking some pom-pom trim needs to be involved.

eBay Fabric Find (for you)

This fabric, "Chinese Blossoms" by Brunschwig and Fils, is currently on my eBay watch list. My eBay watch list is crazy long. This fabric is beautiful and although I can think of a million ways how to use it, I can't find where to use it.

Dear readers, will one of you buy it and do something amazingly fabulous with it? And then share with me so that I may live vicariously through your fabric adventure? This fabric is perfect for drop-dead drapes. I'm planning a post on how to make very easy, no-sew drapes - so don't hold back.

In other fabric news, I have ordered a sample of this fabric below as a contender for my dining room chairs:

Keeping in mind my dining room designBoard, what do we think?
