Catalog Pick: Enameled Ceiling Light

Those of us living the 8 ft. ceiling life always appreciate a good close-to-ceiling fixture. Especially since they tend to be few and far between. Sure there are decent ones out there...but it's rare to find a ceiling light that is actually exciting.

But I found one!

Look at this beauty - the Classic Dome Enameled Ceiling Light from (my favorite) Shades of Light:

This is a worthy fixture. Imagine hanging several down the ceiling of a galley kitchen. Or a foyer. They are so simple but the rich color really makes them feel deliberate and not an afterthought.

And, the best part, is they are just over $100. Win.

They come in several colors paired with either pewter, chrome, or brass. Check them out here...

Catalog Pick: Floral Mosaic Mirrors from Pier1

I am intrigued by these mosaic mirrors from Pier1. Especially for a very light, white, neutral nursery...I could see one perched above a changing table.

#1 / #2 / #3

That magnolia one would also be killer in a white and green powder room.

Anyone peeped these in person at the store?

Catalog Pick: Buckley Swivel Glider

You should be fully aware that Miles Redd has a collection for Ballard Designs. And within said collection is my dream nursery chair - the Buckley Swivel Glider - a distinguished rocker with a lovely pleated skirt.

And if you'd like to kill some time today, go ham using Ballard's (amazing) customization tool that lets you test drive a variety of fabric/welt combinations. Here are some of mine:

I played it straight and just did the main welt, but using Ballard's tool, you can also customize the seat fabric, the back panel fabric, and the skirt fabric...it's mind-blowing.

Bless a retailer who dabbles in such customization as it really lets you create design magic without having to hunt down all the fabric + the upholsterer to do it for you. Not to mention that being able to instantly see a rendition of your ideas ranks very very high on the gratification scale.

This might be my favorite thing on the Internet right now.

Catalog Pick: Jacqueline Dinner Plate

Thus far, I have opted for all white when it comes to our casual dinner plates. But I have recently fallen in love with these Jacqueline dinner plates from Ballard Designs:

The scalloped edge, dots, and design are just gorgeous. Perfect for summer AND holiday time.

And I can't stop thinking about creating a patriotic table by layering it with these plates from Juliska (that I actually own...hmmm...):

Beautiful stuff, right? Those Ballard plates are immediately at the top of my wish list.

Catalog Pick: Cooper Dresser and Nightstand

I'll leave these here for you today:

The Cooper dresser and nightstand from Pier 1. In a rich pecan wood finish, with angular, simple lines, and delightful touches of brass. A bit of Campaign flair...but not. I am quite into them...what do you think??

Almost the weekend...

Catalog Pick: Brass Sconce Under $120

Brass sconces of the swing-arm variety have become a design darling, and with good reason. I feel like we are always on the hunt for good ones, yes?

I just came across one that is on point. Especially the price point. Because it's really attractive and under $120. The Adjustable Arm 1-Light Wall Sconce from Shades of Light in Warm Brass:

Now, that is a good-looking light. It looks way more expensive than $118. Usually when you hover around $100, these lights don't look quite so chic so you tend to pass on them (at least I do). But I think this one has the design factor and a great price tag.

If you need some visual reminders about the power of this fixture:

The scale of the fixtures in that iconic bathroom above is not the same scale as these I'm showing you...but you get the idea. Brass sconces are good.

Catalog Pick: Terrace Bunk Bed

I saw this Terrace Bunk Bed in the Land of Nod catalog:

And immediately thought of this iconic children's space:

The Land of Nod bed is your one-way ticket to creating a similar look and I LOVE it. Although I get the allure of a bunk bed for space and general child merriment, can't say I often think it's chic. But I'm into this.

The bunk bed would also look bananas painted the same color of the wall to create a built-in look.

Catalog Pick: Chippendale Headboard

Chinoiserie lovers, put this one on your radar - the new Dayna Headboard from Ballard Designs:

It's a Chippendale Chinoiserie dream. And it's on sale with Queen and Twin under $400 (no King, though).

I wish it came in more colors, but I have to say that doubling up on these would be phenomenal in a double bedroom. And the price point is palatable.

Happy hump day!

Catalog Pick: PB Kids Paige Pendant

I think most of us are in the know that PB Kids often has some sweet lighting appropriate for non-kid installations, yes? My recent favorite is this Paige Pendant. That milk glass + metal look is so chic and could suit several styles. I would personally love a pair of these hanging over a kitchen island.

In other PB Kids lighting news...this Geo Multilight Pendant:

The perfect statement light fixture for your foyer.

Catalog Pick: Carleton Varney Patio Umbrella

File this under luxury items that I will never own...Frontgate's Hampshire Designer Umbrella designed by Carleton Varney.

The scallops, bows, and florals are so wonderfully girly and delightful. I get this may not be your jam, and I have to say that I understand, but personally, I love this.

But it's also almost $3K which puts it out of the realm of reality. So it's just a fun little something to get us over hump day!

Catalog Pick: Nala Bench from Ballard

Quite frankly, this is the best thing in a catalog right now. This Nala Bench is what my dreams are made of.

The all-upholstered look is phenomenal and the silhouette is divine.

And what I've always loved about Ballard is that they have great fabric options for upholstery (and a COM program if I recall). They know you want fly choices for your fabrics. 10 versions of beige won't do...but if beige is your jam, they've got you covered.

Are you in love with this bench as much as I am? It's definitely on my short list for the next time I get to spend some cash on new furniture.

Catalog Pick: PB Silver Baskets

This season reignites my love for all things metallic in the home, plus I'm 100% devoted to baskets. I never tire of using them as decorative-objects-slash-storage.

So these silver baskets from Pottery Barn are catching my eye right now. Baskets are baskets are baskets...but these give you a little more eye-candy-return on your investment.

I think they are especially nice for a bedroom where you need some sleuth storage for blankets or clothes. And something about the silver metallic mixed with the natural tone is really soft and dreamy.

Note that it's not too early to put together your list for Santa.

Catalog Pick: Aztec Pillows

Stumbled across some fancy pillows at Home Decorators that I thought we should all put on our radar. I love a good Southwestern motif and the cobalt + black color combo is 100% on point.

Both from the Aztec Collection (which apparently is only comprised of these two pillows):

The square Xtec Pillow is 18", $35 INCLUSIVE of the insert and ships free. The lumbar Diamond Southwest Pillow is $32 INCLUSIVE of the insert and ships free. This is a stylish deal to be had, folks. Both should likely be purchased and mix and match away with what you have now.

And I'll be Capt. Obvious that new pillows are the perfect way to usher in Fall and spice up your current look and these are oh-so warm and moody. Do it!

Catalog Pick: Moroccan Coffee Table

I consider these catalog picks to be public service announcements. As I write them, I'm usually thinking, "Do people know this is available?!?!" My hope is I'm unearthing gems.

Like this Moroccan coffee table (base) that is available at Pier 1 for $350. That's bananas for something so wonderful to look at:

The style factor of your space would go up exponentially with this reasonably priced item. I LOVE the star motif and you just can't get more handsome with the lines and shape. You can go modern, traditional, boho...pick your flavor and you can likely work this table in.

I am already doing mental gymnastics to create the need for a new coffee table in my house...nothing yet, but this will probably be the first one I buy next time I need one.

See it here....(also available as a lovely end table!)

Catalog Pick: Shades of Light Fretwork Chair

Happy Monday! Did you miss me last week? I seem to just be ducking out willy nilly these days but this past week was our annual family beach vacation and although my intention is always to blog, I inevitably forget that the wifi at our beach house is essentially nonexistent. That was a really long sentence.

But I'm back with a bang in the form of this statement fretwork chair from Shades of Light. It comes in a set of two and that seat is just begging to be recovered in amazing fabric. Love the beautiful honey tone of the wood too. Two thumbs up!

I have lots of adorable pictures to share from our vacation - will post them. Hope you had a great week!

Catalog Pick: Safavieh Four Seasons Rug

I am constantly searching for rugs. For me, for clients. Rugs. All the time. And they are so hard to find. And the online factor is risky. But the in-store factor isn't always fruitful. So I'm always searching.

And my search turned up this delightful option from Safavieh on Wayfair - LOVE the colors, texture seems durable (read: family friendly), price is amazing (read: low commitment)...perfect for a family space. Like, maybe my basement playroom extension that has yet to be built.

I wonder if it's soft enough for an area that your kids aren't going to trample. I think its indoor/outdoor which always makes me think it will be slightly crunchy, but I do love the pattern for a living room or den. Hmmmm...

Oh and it comes in loads of sizes, so a runner would also be a great option...see it here

Are you always searching for rugs? Where do you look?

Catalog Picks: Gilt at Wisteria

Just received a fresh Wisteria catalog and was perusing to pick something out to share with y'all but I couldn't decide among several items - all of which have a gorgeous gilded finish.

Disclaimer - two of these are out of stock (SO annoying Wisteria! If you send the catalog, make sure you have some stock!) but they are set to return so you can still purchase if you aren't in a rush.

Hands-down, my favorite is that egg table. It is so unique and completely lovely. I would pile it high with decorating books and candlesticks and all the things I can no longer put out in the open with sticky fingers around.

Second is the lantern because it's lines are so good but a little different than the typical lantern. LOVE the finish. And I think it looks really fancy/pricey even though it has an expensive-but-not-too-bad price tag.

And who doesn't love a solid gold mirror? Completely classic and timeless and versatile as a vertical or horizontal situation.

I will point out the obvious that these would all look very pretty in the same space. You're welcome for that tip.

Catalog Pick: Parker Pom Pom Pillow

I love pillows with a fun texture, especially pom poms. Great in a neutral space where you aren't trying to infuse color but texture goes a long way.

And I particularly like the more "adult" look of the Parker Pom Pom Raffia Pillow from Ballard as poms can get a little too whimsical sometimes:

There is also a navy option whose photograph looks much like the black one. Don't you think the gray one would be right at home with beiges and winter whites? And that black one would do wonderful things paired with buffalo check.

Have you seen similar pom pillows around? I don't see them often and would love to check out more...
