The Seasonal Beauty Edit: 5 Autumn Must-Haves

The Seasonal Beauty Edit: 5 Autumn Must-Haves

With that Autumnal chill finally due to arrive this weekend, now's the time to give your beauty routine a seasonal refresh. Take five with Skin & Me, Aveda, Everlasting Brows, This Works, and Butterwhips.

Skin & Me Purify + Prep Hydrating Cleanser
Skin + Me Purify + Prep Hydrating Cleanser* (80ml, link)

One of the first things that I switch up in my skincare routine is my cleanser. Typically, I like to use gel-based cleansers during the warmer summer months, but as the season changes, I find myself gravitating towards creamier cleansers. This year, I'm loving everything about Skin + Me Purifying + Prep Hydrating Cleanser. From the squeezy recyclable aluminum tube to the gentle hydrating formula, this simple cleanser ticks all the right boxes for me and keeps my skin nicely moisturised and prepped for the colder weather outside.

Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment
Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment* (100ml, £26.78, link)

Your hair feels the change of season just like your skin does, and if yours has started to feel a little drier, a little bit of leave-in conditioner often does the trick. I've used various hair treatments from Aveda over the years and they really do make some of the best on the market. I particularly enjoy using their Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment which is an award-winning leave-in conditioner that repairs damage, reduces frizz, prevents breakages, and actually makes your hair feel stronger with regular use. A teeny amount is all you need.

Everlasting Brows Highlighter & Concealer Duo
Everlasting Brows Highlighter & Concealer Duo* (£7.95, link)

For an affordable quick fix that makes your whole eye area look instantly brighter and more awake, you can't go wrong with one of these beauties in your makeup bag. Perfect for makeup beginners and cosmetics junkies alike, Everlasting Brows Highlighter & Concealer Duo is a super convenient dual-ended chunky pencil that features a gorgeous gold-shimmer highlighter and a creamy concealer. I like to add the highlighter to the inner corner of my eyes to open them up, as well as underneath the brow bone to make it pop, and the concealer is brilliant for touching up any little imperfections.

This Works Morning Expert Hyaluronic Serum* (30ml, £37, link)

Changing up your facial serum is an easy way to incorporate a must-have ingredient into your daily skincare routine and at this time of the year, everyone's skin can start to look a little dull. Add some glow back in with This Works Morning Expert Hyaluronic Serum. This is one of my favourite Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid-based serums that I've been using on and off for years. One of the key ingredients is a slow-release form of Vitamin C which visibly helps to brighten the complexion, whilst 2% Hyaluronic Acid plumps the skin and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles. A lovely youth boost!

Butterwhips Warmly Relaxing Body Butter
Butterwhips Warmly Relaxing Body Butter* (75g, £18, link)

Whilst some people are lucky enough to say that they don't need a body moisturiser at any time of the year, my terribly dry skin never lets me skip this step, and as soon as the temperature starts to drop, it's calling out for some TLC. Help is on hand with an array of decadently rich body butters, and my skin is currently loving this recyclable tin of Butterwhips Warmly Relaxing Body Butter. Handmade in small batches in the UK, this lovely indie brand is cruelty-free and their body butters are made from 97% organic natural ingredients. This particular one has extracts of Lavender, Bergamot, and Vitamin E, blended into a thick, whipped Shea Butter base. Just gorgeous.

What's on your seasonal beauty shakeup list?

August Empties: Products I've Used Up

Monday, 30 August 2021

The end of the month is rolling around yet again, so it's time for another Empties post! Like last month, I've been trying to declutter some more travel-size products, alongside some familiar everyday items.

Kiss The Moon Love After Dark Pillow Mist* (travel size)
Everything from Kiss The Moon smells incredible and it was a real pleasure to use this pillow mist which has a blend of rose, frankincense, and ylang ylang essential oils to help you unwind. Heavenly! Repurchase? I'm using one from Neals Yard Remedies at the moment, but I have no doubt I'll return to this in the near future.

Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo
Since Covid happened, I haven't been using much dry shampoo at all thanks to WFH life, so this has lasted me probably about two years. I believe Aveda has repackaged/renamed it since then, however, the formula remains the same and it's one of the best that I've ever tried. Repurchase? Yes.

Laidbare Butter Me Up Body Butter*
Another product that has taken me a long time to finish up has been this big tub of body butter from Laidbare. I love the rich and heady fragrance, and the light texture just sinks into the skin quickly. Perfect to use after a long soak in the bath. Repurchase? Yes.

Weleda Wild Rose Creamy Body Wash* (travel size)
If you have dry skin, you must try these body washes from Weleda because they are SO good! I've used them for years the Wild Rose scent is still one of my favourites. Repurchase? Will do.

Salcura Bioskin Zeoderm Skin Repair Moisturiser
Ideal for skin that's prone to eczema, dermatitis, and/or psoriasis, I highly recommend the Salcura range if you're looking to avoid harsh chemicals like steroids as most of their range is 97-99% natural. This is another product that I always have in my skincare stash for when my eczema flareups and it still works a treat after all these years. Repurchase? Already have!

Tropic Skin Shade Tinted Facial Sun Cream SPF50 in Light/Medium*
I haven't been wearing much makeup over the past year, so for sunny days, I've just been slapping on this as an easy, fuss-free base. It gives a good light coverage and doesn't make me look super shiny, plus it's a proper facial sunscreen with the tint added to the water-resistant formula, rather than a tinted moisturiser with a teeny bit of sunscreen thrown in. Repurchase? Definitely will next Summer.

Omorovicza Cleansing Foam (travel size)
Despite it being a famous cult cleanser, I wasn't too keen on this and felt like it left my skin feeling a bit sticky/tacky afterwards, no matter how much I rinsed the residue away with a flannel. Not for me. Repurchase? No.

Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask (travel size)
The Omorovicza cleansing mask is a completely different story though - I loved it! Although the sample pot was for only one use, it made my complexion look and feel instantly clearer and smoother. Repurchase? Definitely on my shopping list.

Tropic Illuma Light Diffusing Concealer in Brûlee*
For a natural, cruelty-free, and vegan-friendly undereye concealer, Tropic's Illuma Light Diffusing Concealers are simply amazing. They conceal dark circles beautifully without creasing into fine lines and always make me look much more awake than I actually am - a great 'cheat' product when you haven't had much sleep. Repurchase? Yes.

L'Occitane Shea Hand Cream (travel size)
Last, but not least, I finished up a mini hand cream from L'Occitane. I used to use these all the time but sadly there is the issue of L'Occitane no longer being cruelty-free due to selling in China, so I'm just using up what I have left. Repurchase? No.

January Empties: Products I've Used Up (+ How To Recycle Your Beauty Empties)

Wednesday, 3 February 2021

I took part in the annual January No Buy Challenge and I'm pleased to say that I completed it! It may also explain why I have a fair amount of Empties to discuss, so grab a cuppa and let's get stuck in. Here's everything beauty-wise that I've used up recently.

Alter/Native by Suma Handmade Soap in Grapefruit & Mandarin*
A lovely 100% natural & plastic-free soap with no palm oil, parabens or SLS/SLES. I used it for washing my hands in the kitchen as the fruity fragrance is great for getting rid of cooking smells like garlic! Repurchase? Yes.

Swell Ultimate Protect & Renew Hair Serum
WFH life has meant that I haven't been blow-drying and straightening my hair much, so this travel-size tube has lasted a lot longer than it would in 'normal' times. Saying that a little does go a long way and it's great for getting rid of frizz, whilst doubling up as a heat protector. Repurchase? Will do when real-life resumes!

Aromatherapy Associates Bath & Shower Oil in Support Breathe
These are my favourite bath & shower oils as they are really potent - a capful in the bath is all you need so you can easily get 2-3 uses out of one of these minis. Support Breathe is perfect to reach for when you have a cold as it helps to clear the sinuses. Repurchase? Yes.

Evolve Organic Beauty Bio-Retinol Gold Face Mask* (reviewed here)
Looking for a natural anti-ageing facial treatment? This amazing Bio-Retinol Gold Face Mask from Evolve is a gorgeous pampering treat with a natural plant-based retinol ingredient that doesn't cause the irritation that's common with regular retinol. I loved using this whenever my complexion looked dull for an instant brightening pick-me-up. Repurchase? Definitely!

Aveda Hand Relief
Aveda may be famous for their haircare, but their Hand Relief creams are a real hidden gem in their product range and they're available in a couple of different scents which all smell amazing. Highly recommend checking them out if your hands need some TLC. Repurchase? Yes.

Organii Soothing Arnica Gel(reviewed here)
One of my most popular blogposts of 2020 was my feature on 7 Natural Products To Help Ease Muscle Aches & Pains (Post-Gym/Exercise) and it included this wonderful Soothing Arnica Gel from Organii. This topical gel is great for reducing any inflammation or swelling from minor injuries and bruises, and it's very affordable too. Repurchase? Already have.

Tropic Whipped Body Velvet in Coconut Cream*
If you want to smell like sweet coconut ice cream, this luxuriously thick and whipped Body Velvet ticks all the right boxes. It's gorgeous to use after a long hot bath to complete a pampering session as it makes your skin feel so soft. Repurchase? Yes.

Soaper Duper Body Butter in Fruity Green Tuberose
I picked this up after seeing Caroline Hirons mention it and I adore the scent! A beautiful, non-sticky body butter that sinks straight in with an uplifting fresh floral fragrance. Excellent value for money as the large tub lasts ages. Repurchase? Will do once I've used up some similar products first.

Epic Blend Vegan Pineapple Mint Lip Balm(reviewed here)
Epic Blend are seriously underrated in the lip balm world as I hardly see anyone else mentioning them. They have a really great line of moisturising balms available, with a dedicated vegan-friendly range too. Pineapple Mint is an interesting flavour as it's cooling, fruity and refreshing! Repurchase? Yes.

REN Anti-Pollution Mist(reviewed here)
Another product that I used to use a lot during 'normal' times, yet now hardly ever reach for is REN's Anti-Pollution Mist. I still love it and it doubles up as a brilliant makeup setting spray, but it's pretty pointless when we're all staying at home sadly. Repurchase? Definitely, once normal life happens again.

Typology Cyprès Genévrier Natural Eau de Parfum(reviewed here)
One of my favourite brand discoveries last year was Typology and I've been enjoying using their Perfume Discovery Sets. This fragrance Cyprès Genévrier was very fresh and woody, so it's an interesting natural unisex option that can be worn alone or layered over other scents to create your own signature fragrance. Repurchase? I'll pick a fave when I've used up the other samples!

P.S - How To Recycle Your Beauty Empties!

All of the glass and easy-to-recycle plastic PET empties will be put into my council's blue bin kerbside recycling scheme, but for the harder-to-recycle stuff, I will be:-
  • Recycling the pumps, lids and atomisers with Neal's Yard Remedies - more info at the bottom of their website here.
  • Recycling any other products that my local council doesn't accept at The Body Shop, L'Occitane or with Garnier's Terracycle partnership - more info here.

December Empties: Products I've Used Up
Happy New Year! It made sense to me that the first blog post of 2020 should be an Empties one as I know a lot of people are currently embarking on No Buy and decluttering challenges (myself included), so I hope this helps to provide some additional motivation! Here's everything beauty-wise that I've used up recently and my overall thoughts about whether I'll be repurchasing them again.

Eco By Sonya Coconut & Mint Body Wash*
This massive bottle of body wash lingered in my bathroom for much of 2019 and I loved the unusual coconut and mint scent which was nice and refreshing for an early morning shower. Great SLS-free formula. Repurchase? I have a million other body washes to get through, but it's something that I would happily pick up again in the future.

Bali Balm Sandalwood & Ginger Lip Balm* (featured here)
A gorgeous luxury lip balm with a thick texture and surprisingly delicious flavour - it lasted ages and was perfect to apply before bedtime. Repurchase? I'm currently using up another Bali Balm in a different flavour so keep an eye out for that in a future Empties post.

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Ultra-Moisture Body Oil*
I'm a huge fan of REN's Moroccan Rose Otto range and this body oil was such a pleasure to use. Heavenly scented and with such a rich and nourishing formula, it's hard not to fall in love with this luxury pampering treat! Repurchase? Yes.

December Empties: Products I've Used Up
Tropic Deep Hydration Soothing Cooling Mask(reviewed here)
If your skin is in need of some deep hydration, I can't recommend this Tropic face mask enough. I enjoyed using this after a clay mask to put moisture back into my skin, or whenever I felt like it was feeling tight or dry. Lovely cooling effect that just sinks right in. Repurchase? Will do in the future.

Alteya Organics Bulgarian Rosewater*
A simple 100% natural and organic rosewater spritz - I always have a bottle or two on the go as I regularly use it in my daily skincare routine to instantly calm any redness or irritation, as well as being a gentle toner for sensitive skin types. Repurchase? I have others to use first but would buy again.

Bodhi & Birch Nordic White Body Oil* (travel sizes)
Everything from Bodhi & Birch is ultra-luxurious and smells amazing, and this is no exception! I adore this Nordic White fragrance which is a mix of Spruce and Fennel - to my nose, it's very clean, piney, refreshing and spa-like. The Body Oil formula is also simply glorious to use on dry skin. Repurchase? Yes!

Nathalie Bond Himalayan Pink Salts Rose & Patchouli(travel size)
Although I loved the relaxing scent of these bath salts, they sadly left a sticky residue all around my tub which was very disappointing. Repurchase? No.

a.po.the:ca Rosewater Face Mist(reviewed here)
Surprise, surprise, another rosewater spritz - told you I liked them! Similar to the Alteya Organics one above, this one is also 100% natural and 96% organic, but it has the addition of Glycerin and Radish Root Ferment which makes it feel more hydrating. Repurchase? Will do once I've used some others up.

December Empties: Products I've Used Up
Tropic Passion Fruit & Ginger Lily Luxury Bath Foam(travel size)
Last month, I finished off the Monoi & Orange Flower travel size bath foam from Tropic (post here) and now it's the turn of Passion Fruit & Ginger Lily, an equally beautiful fragrance with a fantastic SLS-free formula that generates lots of bubbles. Repurchase? Definitely.

Mitchell And Peach Flora No.1 Eau De Parfum(travel size)
I finally emptied a perfume - hooray! OK, it's a travel size but considering how rare it is for me to actually get through a full-size bottle, I'm still counting it as a victory. Flora No.1 is a very sophisticated floral fragrance that really grew on me the more I wore it. Repurchase? I'm on a perfume buying ban at the moment until my stash is decreased, though it's certainly on my future wishlist.

Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair (reviewed here)
An old favourite that I've been using for well over five years now, this easy to use treatment has seriously saved my hair many, many times from too much blow-drying and straightening. I've gone through countless tubes and rest assured that I'll be taking the scissors to this one soon to get out every last drop! Repurchase? Of course.

P.S - Recycle your beauty empties with Terracycle!
Most of these plastic and glass containers can be recycled through my local council service (blue bin in my area), however, things like the pumps have metal springs in them which are not accepted as they require a different method in order to be recycled. Luckily, Garnier have teamed up with Terracycle to recycle beauty and personal care waste which is deemed difficult to recycle. It's free, all brands are accepted and there are drop off locations all over the UK. Read more here.

August Empties: Products I've Used Up
Are we really into the first week of September already? Right then, here are my slightly late August Empties!

Eco By Sonya Organic Personal Outdoor Spray* (reviewed here)
I'm one of those people who gets bitten the minute I step foot outside, so I often use an insect repellant when I'm walking the dogs in the woods. This is a really good natural and organic-based product that uses essential oils to deter mozzies and other common biting insects. It's not 100% foolproof but I find that it certainly helps. Repurchase? Yes.

Aveda Beautifying Composition Oil (reviewed here)
A real luxury pampering treat, I absolutely love the scent of Aveda's Beautifying range and their multi-purpose Composition Oils are brilliant - I've been using them for years! I add a few drops to a bath and massage it into my skin afterwards - pure heaven. Repurchase? Yes.

Balm Balm Face Balm* (reviewed here)
Speaking of multi-purpose products, this Face Balm can be used on any dry skin areas and is particularly useful for cuticles, feet and lips. 100% natural and organic, it's fragrance-free so would be well suited for sensitive skin types. Repurchase? I have a lot of similar products to use up first, but I would consider buying it again.

Weleda Creamy Body Washes in Pomegranate and Sea Buckthorn* (reviewed here)
Regular readers will know that I'm a huge fan of these Creamy Body Washes from Weleda and I love both of these scents. Fantastic for dry skin, they're perfect for travel or if you're in a rush as you don't need to follow up with a body moisturiser after showering. Repurchase? Yes.

August Empties: Products I've Used Up
Walden Castles In The Air Eau De Parfum(reviewed here)
I finally finished a perfume! This is a lovely fragrance for Spring and Summer as it smells fresh with floral and citrusy notes. The Walden range is completely different to anything that I have in my perfume collection, so if you're quite open-minded about fragrance and want something that's natural, definitely have a look into these. Repurchase? Will do in the future.

Aveda Beautifying Radiance Body Polish (reviewed here)
This salt-based body scrub is from the same Beautifying line as the Composition Oil above so it's no surprise that I finished it at the same time as they are ideal pampering partners! Like the oil, it's very luxurious and leaves my skin feeling wonderfully soft. Repurchase? Definitely as a treat.

Madara Nourish & Repair Shampoo*
Having been a fan of Madara's skincare for such a long time, I decided to try out one of their Shampoos and it did not disappoint. This Nourish & Repair formula is great for dry and damaged hair as it deeply hydrates and helps to strengthen against further breakage and split ends. 99% natural and SLS-free. Repurchase? Yes.

Organyc Organic Cotton Pads(reviewed here)
I don't use a lot of cotton pads these days, but when I do (for things like removing nail polish), I opt for these ones from Organyc which are made from 100% organic cotton and are biodegradable. They're strong and get the job done. Repurchase? Yes.

Fruu Avocado Lip Balm(reviewed here)
Finally, I used up a lip balm! I loved this one - it's made from natural and organic ingredients and kept my notoriously dry lips happy and hydrated. The flatter style of packaging is super handy for squeezing into carry-on bags too. Repurchase? I have a million lip balms to use up, but I'm sure I'll come back to this in the future!

May Empties: Products I've Used Up
The Empties basket in my bathroom has been overflowing this past month with mainly skincare items, so it's time to dig through the trash and have a quick recap on all of these beauty products that I've recently used up! Let's get stuck in, shall we?

Antipodes Hosanna H2O Intensive Skin-Plumping Serum* (reviewed here)
A solid favourite of mine for a number of years now, this is one of Antipodes' best serums which can be used by all skin types, but benefits dry and dehydrated types the most. I suffer from the latter every now and then, and Hosanna instantly gives my skin what it needs and noticeably plumps it up with each use. It's oil-free too, so great for acne and problem prone complexions to try. Repurchase? Will do once I've used up some other serums first.

Aveda Daily Light Guard Defense Fluid SPF 30* (reviewed here)
Another skin care product that I've been using for a long time is Aveda's bestselling Daily Light Guard Defense Flud SPF 30. I originally reviewed it back in 2016 and I've repurchased it every Summer since, though I do tend to use it all year round. It lasts ages and works well underneath makeup without peeling or flaking off. Repurchase? Yes.

Madara Age Defense Day Cream* (reviewed here)
A brilliant anti-ageing moisturiser for anyone who wants something lighter and easily absorbed in texture than most anti-ageing formulas (which can be on the thick and heavy side of the skincare spectrum), but still retaining its hydrating properties. I've gone through at least three tubes of this stuff! Repurchase? I'm testing out some others at the moment, but I'm sure you'll see it again in a future Empties post.

Weleda Skin Food (reviewed here)
I always have at least two or three tubes of Weleda's iconic Skin Food somewhere in my house; one's usually in the bathroom, one mini like this in my handbag, and the other is often by my bedside table. If you've yet to try it, it's an ultra thick, seriously moisturising multi-purpose product that can be applied anywhere and everywhere to deeply hydrate. Repurchase? Yes.
May Empties: Products I've Used Up
Kueshi Double Effect Makeup Remover
I can't remember where this came from, possibly a GWP or a beauty box?! Anyhow, it's a Spanish brand and I really enjoyed using it. It's one of those dual-phase, shake-them-up formulas and it removed all traces of waterproof eye makeup without any tugging or irritation. Repurchase? I haven't seen it in the UK yet but I'd definitely pick it up again in Spain!

Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream(reviewed here)
Here's another Antipodes product that I've been using for a few years now and still very much love. This Nourishing Night Cream is very hydrating and always leaves my skin so soft come the morning. One jar will last me a good couple of months as you only need to use a tiny amount. Repurchase? Yes.

DHC Cleansing Oil (reviewed here)
I promised myself that I was going to go through my minis stash and use more of those up, and then I end up with mostly full-sized empties instead - hey-ho! Well, I did finish off a travel size DHC Cleansing Oil which I used as a first cleanse to remove makeup and SPF. Brilliant stuff, it gets rid of everything and doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy afterwards. Repurchase? Already have another in my stash.

True Organic Of Sweden All You Need Is Me Balm (reviewed here)
A friend bought this for me when she was in Sweden over Christmas and I've only just used it up as a tiny amount goes such a long way! I've used this before in the past and it's basically an all-natural and organic version of Vaseline, so you can use it on chapped lips and dry cuticles etc. Repurchase? I can't seem to find anywhere that stocks this in the UK sadly :(

May Empties: Products I've Used Up
Handmade Naturals Face Cleansing Lotion(reviewed here)
You can never go wrong with a good quality, affordable everyday cleansing lotion and this one from Handmade Naturals has a short but sweet ingredients list. Lovely gentle formula, it's great for removing makeup, and daily grime, as well as being a really nice morning cleanser if you prefer to use light cream formulas. Repurchase? Will do once I've used up some other cleansers first.

Phyto 9 Nourishing Hair Day Cream (reviewed here)
Finally, a haircare product! I picked this up in the Black Friday sale from a local salon, but I've used it a couple of times in the past. Again, it's another one lasts a long time and I highly recommend it as a leave-in conditioner/treatment for anyone who has very dry, damaged or fine hair because it adds moisture without weighing your tresses down. Repurchase? Yes.

Tropic Wild Mint, Lime and Pineapple Body Wash (reviewed here)
Another sale bargain that I couldn't resist picking up when I saw it on offer, Tropic's Wild Mint, Lime and Pineapple Body Wash is like a holiday cocktail that you slather on in the shower! I love the rich, creamy formula which is very similar to the ones that Weleda do, but in a different scent. Repurchase? Will definitely buy it again when it's on offer.

Rosenrot Festes Koko Shampoo
Finally, my last empty is sadly a disappointing one because I've been trying to find a solid shampoo bar that works for my hair to no avail, and this one just wasn't compatible either. My friend sent it from Germany and I'll probably use it up to clean my makeup brushes with. Repurchase? No.

January Empties: Products I've Used Up
Congratulations everyone, we survived January! It did seem like the longest month ever and I have a big old Empties post to show for it! Let's dive straight in, shall we?

Dr. Hauschka Lemongrass Vitalising Body Wash and Body Milk (travel sizes, link)
These were from a Christmas gift set and I just adore the Dr. Hauschka Lemongrass range - everything is so fresh and uplifting! Beautiful formulas that are perfect for a luxury pamper/pick me up. Repurchase? I'd happily buy both of these in the full sizes.

Madara Brightening AHA Peel Mask* (reviewed here)
Regular readers will have spotted this now iconic green tube in previous Empties posts as it always seems to be a staple in my skincare routine. It's a brilliant AHA based exfoliating mask that clears away dull dead skin cells and makes my complexion look instantly brighter in just 3 minutes. Repurchase? I think I may have another one somewhere!

January Empties: Products I've Used Up
Dr. Organic Vitamin E Cream (link)
Picked this up when it was on offer during the Holland & Barrett Black Friday sale. It's a multi-purpose moisturiser and I mainly used it on my hands and feet before going to bed, and I have to say, it surprised me. The formula is lovely and hydrating, yet it feels light and is easily absorbed so if you hate thick creams, give this one a try. Repurchase? Might do in the future.

Dafna's Revival Bio-Active Beauty Mask(reviewed here)
Oh, what a sad day it was when I used this little beauty up! I really enjoyed this creamy exfoliating mask and it was amazing for those times when I needed a quick fix after a busy week. Great for special occasions and events where you want to look your absolute best. Repurchase? It's sadly out of my budget at the moment, but I'd be very tempted if I saw it on offer.

Elsa's Natural Deodorant Stick in Sensitive(reviewed here)
A few of you have been asking me what natural deodorants I use after I posted about them on my Instagram, so I'm going to start including them in my Empties posts. I'm a huge fan of Elsa's and this Sensitive one is a good one to try if you're new to natural deodorants. Repurchase? Yes.

Tropic Soothe The Senses Luxury Body Oil(link)
I was lucky enough to win this just before Christmas and it's such a beautiful body oil - the scent of it is incredible. Very floral, heady, soothing, and ultra-relaxing, with a formula that makes my skin feel like silk afterwards. Such a gorgeous pampering product. Repurchase? Very tempted!

Aveda Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment (reviewed here)
I've used this on/off for years and have gone through countless tubes of the stuff. Whenever my hair feels particularly dry, damaged or fragile from too much blow-drying and straightening, this treatment sorts it out in no time at all. Repurchase? I've gone back to using Macadamia but will pick this up again in the future I'm sure.

January Empties: Products I've Used Up
Benecos Seabuckthorn and Orange Hand & Nail Cream(link)
One of my all-time favourite budget hand creams, you can't wrong with this for a mere £3! I love everything about it, from the citrusy, uplifting scent, to the hydrating but light feeling formula, it's amazing for dry hands. Repurchase? Yes.

Guiltless Skin Rosehip Cleanser(reviewed here)
If you want to buy more organic skincare from British indie brands, Guiltless Skin is one that I highly recommend. Their Rosehip Cleanser is perfect for sensitive skin and is a lovely light gel which emulsifies into a milky consistency when you add water to it. Ideal for a morning cleanse. Repurchase? Yes.

Ooh! Oils Of Heaven Organic Avocado Hydrating Face Oil(reviewed here)
My skin has been feeling a lot drier than usual thanks to the colder weather, so I've been reaching for this Hydrating Face Oil on a regular basis. It gets the job done and feels very nourishing, whilst instantly eradicating any dry patches at the same time. Repurchase? There are other brands and products that I prefer, so I'm not sure.

Nourish Radiance Firming Facial Oil (reviewed here)
I couldn't help but pick this up again when I spotted it for a bargain price in TK Maxx recently, as I've used it in the past and loved it. If your skin is starting to show those first signs of ageing like mine is, it's a fantastic oil to try and you can do a good facial massage with it to help lift everything which really helps! Repurchase? Yes.

Colab Dry + Shampoo Active (link)
Lastly, I have some dry shampoo from Colab. Cheap and cheerful, it does the job and does it very well. No white roots or residue, even on my dark brown hair, and it sucks up oil and dirt like no-one's business. Repurchase? I've gone back to using the Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo simply because I'm cutting down on aerosols.

December Empties / Products I've Used Up
What better way to round off 2018 than with an Empties post?! I'm pretty pleased that I've managed to finish off a lot of skincare, as some of these products have taken me months to use up, so it'll be nice to look forward to starting 2019 with a couple of new things instead!

December Empties / Products I've Used Up
Antipodes Grace Gentle Cream Cleanser* (reviewed here)
Grace is one of my all-time favourite cream cleansers and this must be the third or fourth tube that I've gone through since I discovered it. I especially love using it during the Winter months when I need something a bit more hydrating and it's just so lovely and gentle to use which makes it great for sensitive skin. I generally use this as a morning cleanser or as a second cleanser in the evenings. Repurchase? Yes.

Sheffield Skincare Company Honey Love Bath Truffles (travel size, link)
A good friend of mine gave me the most beautiful self-care package for Christmas and inside was a sample pack of these Honey Love Bath Truffles which I've thoroughly enjoyed using over the past couple of nights. 100% natural and they make your skin feel so soft afterwards! Repurchase? Yes.

Tropic Super Greens Nutrient Boost Serum* (reviewed here)
I've used Tropic's Super Greens Serum on and off since it launched, and this is the second bottle that I've used up. It's something that I like to keep on hand for when my skin feels like it's lacking something as this serum always gives it a nourishing boost and helps my complexion to get its glow back. Perfect for Winter. Repurchase? Will do once I've used up some of my other serums!

Madara Time Miracle Age Defence Day Cream* (link)
As far as everyday moisturisers go, this one from Madara is brilliant if you hate the traditionally thicker types of creams that are so prevalent in the anti-ageing industry. Instead, it feels rich and nourishing, yet absorbs very easily into the skin without any greasiness and layers well underneath makeup. I also love the fresh natural scent that it has and the excellent pump packaging that dispenses just the right amount each time. Repurchase? Definitely.

Aveda Botanical Kinetics Hydrating Treatment Lotion* (reviewed here)
Another Winter friendly skincare product that I always reach for at this time of the year is the Hydrating Treatment Lotion from Aveda. I often use it just twice a week or so to give my skin an extra shot of moisture if it's been feeling tight or dry, or you can use it daily if your skin is drier than mine. Repurchase? Yes.

December Empties / Products I've Used Up
Perricone MD Blue Plasma Cleansing Treatment (featured here)
I have a serious love/hate relationship with this product! Sometimes my skin adores it and other times I feel like it causes me to break out - argh! I've used it a couple of times in the past and decided to give it another go when I received it in a GWP over the Summer, but I'm still not sure about it to be honest. Repurchase? Probably not!

Inner Senses Deep Blue C Facial Oil(reviewed here)
One of the best brand discoveries for skincare this year has to be finding Inner Senses and I have absolutely loved using this Deep Blue C Facial Oil over the past couple of months. It's definitely something that I tend to reach for every now and then when my skin is being troublesome as it really helps to calm down breakouts and any irritation, so if your skin is going through a difficult phase, I highly recommend it. Repurchase? Yes, will do once I've used up some of my other face oils.

Turbliss Bioactive Peat Toner(featured here)
Another product that's ideal for blemish prone skin is the Bioactive Peat Toner from Turbliss, and I think this is may be my second or even third bottle that I've used of it. It feels very refreshing so great for morning use and it helps to keep your pores nice and clear, thus minimising breakouts and blackheads. Repurchase? Yes.

Naturally Tribal Iya Body Food(reviewed here)
If you have dry skin, you must check out Naturally Tribal who have been a firm favourite of mine all throughout 2018! Their Body Foods are amazing multi-purpose moisturisers that are so thick and buttery which makes them perfect for using on your feet, hands, elbows, knees, and anywhere that needs some extra TLC. The Iya one has the most gorgeous floral scent and they last a long time as a little goes a long way. Repurchase? Yes.

December Empties / Products I've Used Up
Be In Blossom Ocean Flower Multi-Complex Serum + Cream(reviewed here)
Towards the end of Summer, I was using this serum a lot but as the weather changed, I felt myself reaching for it less and less. It's a beautifully crafted serum and it's definitely one that I would happily use again next year when it's Spring or Summer again, but it doesn't quite cut it for me in the colder months as my skin needs something more. Repurchase? May do next year.

Aurelia Revitalise & Brighten Eye Dew* (featured here)
I'm usually not much of a fan of eye serums, but Aurelia's Eye Dew is a complete game-changer as it's light, non-sticky and you really do see a difference when you use it! I loved everything about this product - from the ingredients, the smoothing out of my fine lines, to the cooling rollerball applicator, it was such a pleasure to use all round! Repurchase? It's pricey but I'm very tempted to save up for another!

Aurelia Illuminate & Smooth Puff Reduction Eye Cream(featured here)
It's no surprise to see the accompanying Eye Cream in this post as well, as the two work so well together and can be layered or used as a powerful morning and night team. The Eye Cream is of course much thicker and richer, but it doesn't overload the delicate eye area and it does a brilliant job of depuffing and smoothing everything out. If you suffer from puffy eyes first thing in the morning, it's definitely worth splashing out on. Repurchase? As above.

Aurelia Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser (travel size, featured here)
I've had a couple of these travel sizes in various beauty boxes and GWPs over the years and I find this moisturiser a little too rich for my skin for daytime use. However, it's lovely as a night cream if I don't fancy using a face oil or if I'm travelling. If you have dry or mature skin, I'm sure you'll love it! Repurchase? I wouldn't personally buy the full size but certainly wouldn't say no to another travel size pot!

April Empties: Products I've Used Up

Monday, 30 April 2018

It's that time of the month again where I share my recent Empties with you all, so here's everything that I've used up recently and whether I'll be repurchasing them again or not.

Rossi Intense Rejuvenation Rose & Pink Clay Face Mask*
This is the second jar that I've managed to use up and I absolutely love it! It's got a fantastic 100% natural formula that uses a clay base to draw out impurities and unclog pores, but it also has other ingredients which make it feel hydrating and nourishing afterwards. So if you're looking for a clay mask that won't strip or dry out your skin, this one is a must try. Repurchase? Yes.

Aveda Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo
I picked this up during Aveda's Christmas sale and whilst it did a good job of cleaning my hair, I much prefer the other conditioning products and treatments in this same range for their repairing abilities. I didn't notice much of a difference by using this shampoo on its own. Repurchase? No.

Alucia Organics Calm Balm*
I feel like I've had this in my skincare stash forever - they really weren't kidding when they said a little goes a long way! This multi-purpose balm is packed full of soothing ingredients to calm any irritation, whilst keeping dry skin moisturised at the same time. Great for eczema flare-ups and excellent value for money considering how long it lasts! Repurchase? Yes.

Herbfarmacy Rose & Mallow Facial Oil*
One of my favourite face oils, I think this is my second bottle now. Perfect to try if you have sensitive skin that needs something which is hydrating, nourishing and softening, plus it helps to boost radiance too, so it's also ideal if your skin is looking a little grey or dull. Repurchase? I have too many other face oils open at the moment that I'm working my way through, but I'll definitely buy it again at some point in the future.

CV Skinlabs Rescue + Relief Spray
Another good product that I recommend for eczema flare-ups is this multi-purpose spray that you can use all over the face and body. It has lots of natural anti-inflammatory ingredients and absorbs quickly into the skin, providing instant soothing relief. You don't need to use much per application, so I'd suggest picking up their travel size bottle if you fancy trying it. Repurchase? Yes.

Green People Scent Free Sun Lotion SPF 30*
I love this SPF from Green People, and although I have used it on my face with good results, I tend to stick with it as more of an all-over body sunscreen. Feels moisturising, doesn't irritate my skin or leave it feeling sticky, and basically does the job with really good organic ingredients. Repurchase? Yes.

This Works Deep Sleep Stress Less
I'm a terrible sleeper but I find that this does help me to relax and get off to sleep sooner than I usually would, especially if I've been feeling stressed out or anxious during the day. Very easy to use as it's a rollerball, so you can just dab a bit onto pulse points like the wrists, breathe in and relax.  Repurchase? Yes.

January Empties: Products I've Used Up
This month, for the first time ever, I've managed to use up just skincare products, how strange is that?! Here are my January Empties and my thoughts about whether I'll be repurchasing any of these again in the future.

Evolve Organic Beauty Daily Defence Moisture Mist* (reviewed here)
Hydrating mists are a firm staple in my skincare routine and I absolutely loved this one from Evolve. It contains the likes of Hyaluronic Acid and Moringa Peptides which help to lock in moisture and protect the skin from the elements, including everyday pollution. Loved using it in the mornings and whenever I needed a quick refresh. Repurchase? Definitely.

Aveda Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant (reviewed here)
I've gone through a couple of bottles of this over the years and it still works very well for me. It's basically a liquid exfoliating toner/treatment that helps to shift dull dead skin cells for a brighter and more even complexion. Similar to PIXI Glow Tonic, but uses Salicylic Acid instead of Glycolic. Repurchase? Yes.

Antipodes Hosanna H20 Intensive Skin-Plumping Serum* (reviewed here)
If you have oily or combination skin and are struggling to find an oil-free hydrating serum, I highly recommend picking up this one from Antipodes. Hosanna H20 is one of my favourite products to add to my Winter skincare routine every year, as it makes a massive difference to my skin, yet absorbs quickly and feels super lightweight. Love it! Repurchase? Yes.

January Empties: Products I've Used Up
Temple Spa Trufflesque Ultra Hydration & Radiance Masque(reviewed here)
Although I enjoyed using this face mask, I've come to the conclusion that it's incredibly expensive for what it is, and that I have lots of other hydrating/radiance masks in my skincare stash that I love a lot more. If you have the cash to splash that's great, but personally, I'd say save your pennies and buy something cheaper that does the job just as well, if not better. Repurchase? No.

Samaya Anti-Ageing Treatment Oil Kapha(reviewed here)
One product that I feel is worth the money, but is still very pricey, is this beautiful face oil from the Ayurvedic skincare brand, Samaya. I almost cried when I finished this! It's my second bottle and this stuff literally makes my skin look so beautiful and glowy whenever I use it. I did find it a little heavy to use during the Summer months though, so it's definitely more of an Autumn/Winter treat. Repurchase? Sadly out of my price bracket at the moment!

White Rabbit Chamomile & Carrot Seed Eye Cream
A lot of people have recommended White Rabbit to me, so I decided to purchase this eye cream a couple of months ago to try out. It's very hydrating which is perfect for my dry under eyes and I mainly used it in my nighttime routine for this purpose, but I felt like it didn't do anything else for me. Repurchase? Probably not.

Living Nature Firming Eye Cream(reviewed here)
This eye cream, on the other hand, gave me a lot more bang for my buck as it hydrates and does an excellent job of firming everything up, plus it perfectly smoothes out any fine lines and wrinkles. I think this is my second tube and I'll be sure to cut it open tonight to get the last bit out! Repurchase? Yes.
