Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - May 2022 review

Wednesday, 1 June 2022

Last month I made a mistake in saying that the LoveLula Beauty subscription boxes were ending, when in fact it's this May box which is the last one - oops! However, what I did say remains true and unfortunately LoveLula has now discontinued the subscription boxes, due to Covid and Brexit factors which are making it difficult to obtain large quantities of fresh products in a timely manner.

Don't worry though - there are brand new themed beauty boxes coming from LoveLula soon which will be available to purchase on an ad hoc, one-off basis throughout the year so keep your eyes peeled!

So let's now take a look at the last ever LoveLula Beauty Box (*sob*) which contains all of the following products.

PHB Ethical Beauty Balance Moisturiser

I've tried a couple of things from PHB Ethical Beauty and really like their natural and organic formulas. This soothing moisturiser helps to restore harmony to your skin, whilst nourishing it and boosting radiance. The rebalancing formula also helps to protect against environmental damage and is perfect for oily skin that's prone to acne and blemishes. With summer on its way where I find my combination skin tends to get much oilier at this time of the year, this sounds like the ideal moisturiser for me!

Inika Certified Organic Matte Perfection Primer

A makeup prepping classic in the green beauty world, Inika's bestselling Certified Organic Matte Perfection Primer has been a staple in my makeup bag for many years so I'm thrilled to have another one to add to my stash. It has a lovely lightweight formula that sinks into the skin without clogging pores, and allows your makeup to glide effortlessly over the top for a flawless finish.

Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Serum

Made from 100% organic natural ingredients, this little beauty gem from Balm Balm is a miracle serum for people who might not already be used to having a serum in their skincare routines. A beautifully rich blend of Rosehip, Jojoba and Borage Oils are generously infused with Frankincense, Rose Geranium, Palmarosa, Juniper and Mandarin essential oils to feed and nourish the skin. It's great for helping to even out skin texture too.

Ooh! Oils Of Heaven Organic Argan Moisture Retention Face Oil

Looking for a face oil that will transform dry and mature skin types? Look no further, Ooh! Oils Of Heaven's Organic Argan Moisture Retention Face Oil is your personal skin saviour! Made with cold-pressed Argan Oil, this facial treatment is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids to give your skin everything it needs to regenerate tissue and keep everything nicely hydrated.

Dr Jackson's Skincare Samples

New to LoveLula.com, here you can sample two of Dr Jackson's skincare samples; the Night Cream and Everyday Oil.

Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - April 2022 review
In our ever-changing world, it's always quite sad to see something come to an end that's been with us for so long, and I'm afraid to say that April's LoveLula beauty box is the very last one.

However, green beauty fans, there's no need to fret! Instead of a regular monthly subscription box, LoveLula are going to be releasing a series of edited one-off boxes throughout the year instead, so you can still get your beauty fix from them and I'll still be sharing their contents with you all on here.

But for now, let's take a look at the last LoveLula monthly box which is worth £50.

PHB Ethical Beauty Lavender Hero Gel review
PHB Ethical Beauty Lavender Hero Gel

You guys know how much I love a good multi-purpose product and with summer literally around the corner, PHB Ethical Beauty's Lavender Hero Gel will be your personal hero all summer long (and beyond!). If you haven't tried this hidden beauty gem before, it's a lightweight soothing organic gel with extracts of Arnica, Lavender and Neem. You can use it acne, eczema and sunburn, as well as being a gentle moisturiser and primer. Basically, if you have any redness or irritation, this Hero Gel is on hand to help you.

Soul Tree Indian Rose Face Wash review
Soul Tree Indian Rose Face Wash

Having recently written up a feature on my favourite products from Soul Tree, I was of course absolutely thrilled to see a full-size bottle of their Indian Rose Face Wash in this box. Formulated for dry to normal skin types, this Ayurvedic natural cleanser is rich in antioxidants to help keep skin nourished, whilst also keeping blemishes at bay. It features natural ingredients such as Turmeric and Honey that are known for their brightening and antibacterial properties so I have high hopes for it!

Balm Balm Vegan Face Balm review
Balm Balm Vegan Face Balm

With a rich blend of Shea Butter, Argan Oil, Rice Bran Wax and Jojoba Oil, this Vegan Face Balm from Balm Balm is a fantastic all-rounder that soothes, moisturises and nourishes the skin. It also won't clog pores and has a lovely uplifting essential oil blend for a subtle natural fragrance which makes it such a pleasure to use. As with all balms of this nature, a little goes a long way, so you can expect to use this little jar of magic for many months to come.

Madara Derma Collagen Hydra Silk Firming Cream

Last, but not least, there's a sample of the popular Madara Derma Collagen Hydra Silk Firming Cream. Formulated with clever biotech-derived natural Peptides, Microalgae and Hyaluronic Acid, this silky cream moisturiser helps to hydrate, firm and protect the skin's natural barrier, whilst boosting healthy collagen production.

LoveLula Beauty Box - March 2022 review
Beauty subscription boxes continue to remain popular, so if you're looking for a monthly treat that features only cruelty-free and natural products, LoveLula is the box for you. This month's box is worth £52 and contains all of the following.

Ayumi Argan & Sandalwood 3 Step Haircare Routine
Ayumi Argan & Sandalwood 3 Step Haircare Routine
Just in time for the new season, you can refresh your hair care routine with these three essentials from the ayurvedic-inspired brand, Ayumi. This simple three-step routine begins with a gentle massage of their Bio Active Growth Hair Oil to help add volume and stimulate growth. You can then follow this step with the Argan & Sandalwood Shampoo and Conditioner to cleanse, nourish and hydrate.

Balm Balm Super Light Coconut Cleanser
Balm Balm Super Light Coconut Cleanser
Next up, I found a full-size Balm Balm Super Light Coconut Cleanser which comes packaged in glass and is formulated with 100% organic natural ingredients. This gentle cleanser is enriched with fractionated Coconut Oil which is extracted directly from Virgin Coconut Butter so it transforms into a light oil that's easy to massage into the skin. It melts away all traces of makeup and daily impurities for a really thorough deep cleanse every time.

Soultree Ayurvedic Mascara
Soultree Ayurvedic Mascara
A must-have for your make-up bag, this Ayurvedic Mascara from Soultree is lightweight and doesn't clump for a natural and beautifully defined finish. Ingredients such as Castor Oil, Black Seed Oil and Aloe Vera also ensure that lashes are nourished and strengthened to help them grow too. Keep an eye out on the blog next month for a special feature on this amazing brand!

Madara Micellar Water
Finally, the last product this month is a travel-size bottle of Madara's bestselling Micellar Water. This award-winning formula effectively removes makeup and daily grime without stripping the skin. Instead, it balances, soothes, and hydrates for a perfectly clean and fresh finish.

Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - February 2022 review

Monday, 21 February 2022

This month's LoveLula Beauty Box is here and once again, it's a real treat for fans of natural skincare! February's edit also contains four full-size products, making it excellent value for money, so let's take a closer look at what's inside, shall we?

Organic Works Daily Hydration Renewal Night Cream
Formulated especially for sensitive skin, this Renewal Night Cream from Scottish brand, Organic Works, is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free with 98.9% ingredients derived from natual origin. It contains Vitamin E, alongside calming essential oils such as Lavender, to nourish, balance and restore stressed skin whilst you sleep.

Balm Balm Hygge Hand & Body Balm
Like many, I'm a huge fan of the Scandi Hygge concept, so I was pleased to see this luxurious Hand & Body Balm which is made from a warming blend of Clove, Sweet Orange and Mandarin essential oils. These are wrapped up in an ultra soothing base of Beeswax, Shea Butter, Calendula and Jojoba Oil, to instantly hydrate and soften any dry areas including hands. As with most balms of this nature, a little goes a long way!

PHB Ethical Beauty Lash & Brow Growth Serum
Big lashes and brows continue to be a big trend and this handy 100% natural PHB Lash & Brow Growth Serum is here to help! It has a super easy to use wand applicator (like a regular mascara) so you can just sweep it through lashes and brows twice a day, morning and night. The key ingredients which help to boost growth are Castor Oil, Biotin and Caffeine Oil.

Ooh! Oils Of Heaven Organic Milk Thistle Face Oil
The last product this month is another full-size gem, this time from Ooh! Oils Of Heaven. The new Organic Milk Thistle Face Oil is rich in antioxidants and has naturally nurtitive and protective qualities for the skin. Suited for all skin types, including sensitive. I'm excited to try it!

Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - January 2022 review

Sunday, 30 January 2022

LoveLula has created a lovely beauty box this month which is filled with natural, organic, and cruelty-free skincare that's worth £60!

Let's check out what's inside, shall we? And don't forget to take a look at my previous LoveLula beauty box reviews here.

PHB Ethical Beauty Pink Clay Cleanser

A gorgeous cleanser infused with Vitamin C, Rosehip and French Pink Clay, this is a real hidden gem in PHB's range. It gently removes all traces of daily grime and impurities, and you can also use it to remove makeup as well. Brilliant for brightening and detoxifying your complexion, and I love the chic glass bottle which looks stunning on your bathroom shelf.

Ooh! Oils Of Heaven Cacay Face Oil

Next up, I found a travel size of Ooh! Oils Of Heaven Cacay Face Oil. I've mentioned this brand many times in the past (check out my Face Oil For Every Skin Type and Concern post), and the Cacay Face Oil is something I've enjoyed using in the past. This one contains three times more natural Retinol than Rosehip Oil and 50% more Vitamin E than Argan Oil, so it's definitely one to try if you're looking for your typical anti-aging benefits.

Madara SOS Hydra Mask

Winter skin always requires a bit more TLC than normal, so treat yours to this gorgeous SOS Hydra Mask from Madara. With a velvety texture, it's an easy mask to work with and you can either wipe it off for a quick fix, or leave it on overnight for a more intensive hydration treatment depending on what additional moisture your skin requires.

Balm Balm Rose Floral Water Hydrosol

Exclusive to Lovelula.com. Balm Balm's range of natural and organic skincare is always a winner and their bestselling Rose Floral Water Hydrosol is a simple but effective product to include in your daily routine. Spritz after cleansing or use throughout the day for a refreshing pick-me-up for your skin.

Ayumi Samples

To finish off the box, there's two sachet samples from the natural Ayurvedic-inspired brand, Ayumi. Here you can try their Turmeric & Bergamot Face Cream and Face Mask.

Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - December 2021 review

Tuesday, 21 December 2021

This month's LoveLula Beauty Box is another treat for skincare fans, with a variety of luxury natural and cruelty-free products from brands such as PHB Ethical Beauty, Madara, Balm Balm, and more. Worth £51, here's a rundown of what's inside.

PHB Ethical Beauty 2-in-1 Shampoo & Body Wash

A 100% natural multi-tasking hair and body cleanser, this 2-in-1 Shampoo & Body Wash from PHB Ethical Beauty is full of nourishing organic extracts to keep your hair soft and shiny, whilst refreshing and moisturising the body at the same time. It's fragrance-free and gentle enough to be used by all skin types including eczema and baby.

Balm Balm Frankincense Light Facial Oil

It wouldn't be a December beauty box without a little Frankincense, would it?! Balm Balm's Frankincense Light Facial Oil is rich in Apricot Kernel, Jojoba, and Rosehip Oils to add essential moisture to the skin during the Winter months, whilst Frankincense and Grapefruit essential oils are included to rejuvenate and refresh. I'm looking forward to trying it out!

Madara Hydra Firm Hyaluron Concentrate Jelly & Brightening AHA Peel Mask

Next up, I found two travel-size products from the luxury skincare brand Madara who appear in the LoveLula Beauty Boxes quite a lot (I'm a huge fan of the brand so I'm always happy to see them pop up!). The Hydra Firm Hyaluron Concentrate Jelly is an oil-free jelly style serum that quenches the skin, topping up its moisture levels and keeping the complexion hydrated and protected - perfect for Winter skincare.

Need a brightening boost? The Brightening AHA Peel Mask uses a blend of potent AHAs derived from natural fruit acids to exfoliate and refine the skin, removing dull, dead skin cells in its path to reveal fresher, brighter skin underneath.

The Castilian Soap Company Natural Castile Soap with Lemongrass Essential Oil

The last product is a bottle of The Castilian Soap Company Natural Castile Soap with Lemongrass Essential Oil. Liquid castile soaps are amazing multi-purpose products to have in the household because you can use them for virtually all aspects of cleaning; from mopping the floors to washing your makeup brushes - the options are endless and a little goes a long way!

Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - October 2021 review

Tuesday, 26 October 2021

If you're looking for a beauty subscription box where all the products inside are cruelty-free and from natural brands, LoveLula is most definitely the box for you! Delivered every month, October's box is worth £55 and contains all of the following beauty treats for you to discover.

Balm Balm Frankincense Deep Cleansing Balm & Muslin Cloth Duo

With Christmas around the corner, this Frankincense-infused Cleansing Balm from Balm Balm is sure to bring some seasonal joy into your skincare routine! With its rich blend of nourishing ingredients such as Shea Butter, Beeswax, Sunflower, and Jojoba Oils, this balm offers a deep cleanse to remove all impurities from the skin. The handy muslin cloth that's included is perfect to use with it.

Madara Shape Cellulite Cream

Anti-cellulite creams are a little controversial these days due to the body positivity movement, however, I personally do feel they can play a part in improving body confidence for those who aren't a fan of their 'wobbly bits'. It's important to remember though that only exercise and a healthy diet can achieve a toned body, but these targeted creams do help to have a smoothing, firming, and moisturising effect, particularly on 'orange skin effect' cellulite.

Ooh! Oils Of Heaven Organic Baobab Face Oil

I'm a huge fan of the Ooh! Oils Of Heaven Face Oils range as they have something for everyone and are brilliant for those who have skin allergies as each face oil is based on just one superstar ingredient. Case in point, this Organic Baobab Face Oil is rich in Omega fatty acids for beautiful, healthy skin and absorbs quickly without clogging pores.

Greenfrog Botanic Shampoo Bar

Moving onto haircare, zero waste fans will love this clever Argan and Rose Oil Shampoo Bar from Greenfrog Botanic. Formulated with 96% natural ingredients, it also contains Aloe Vera to keep hair hydrated throughout the colder months ahead, and this solid bar format is an easy way to cut down on your personal plastic waste as each bar replaces up to three plastic bottles of shampoo.

Antipodes Glow Ritual Vitamin C Serum

The final product is a sample of the brand new Antipodes Glow Ritual Vitamin C Serum. I've already had the pleasure of trying this out when it recently launched so you can check out my review of it here - it's amazing!

Green Beauty: LoveLula Beauty Box - June 2021

Saturday, 26 June 2021

This month's LoveLula Beauty Box boasts a mix of organic and natural skincare and haircare from five different brands - have you tried any of these before? Here's a rundown of the contents.

Balm Balm Fragrance-Free Face Balm (RRP £9.50)

Exclusive to LoveLula, Balm Balm's Fragrance-Free Face Balm is made from a blend of Shea Butter, Sunflower Oil, Beeswax, Jojoba, and Calendula Oils. This hard-working balm is multi-purpose and gently melts into the skin to soothe, moisturise and nourish any areas that need some extra TLC. It's safe to say that a little goes a long way so this jar will last a long time!

The Castilian Soap Company Natural Liquid Soap (RRP £8)

Another multi-purpose wonder is this Natural Castilian Liquid Soap which can be used for so many different things such as hand-washing, cleaning makeup brushes, and even as a natural floor cleaner. The organic castile soap base is blended with Peppermint Essential Oil for a refreshing and purifying experience, whatever you're using it with.

Ayumi Facial Day Cream (RRP £6.99)

Next up, there's another full-size product, this time from the Ayurvedic-inspired natural skincare brand, Ayumi. Their Facial Day Cream helps to bring back radiance to tired and lackluster complexions, so if your skin is looking dull and needs a pick me up, this is a brilliant moisturiser to use first thing in the morning. It's also ideal for those who have hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and an uneven skin tone.

Lamazuna Solid Shampoo Bar (RRP £8.99)

Moving onto haircare, zero waste fans will absolutely love this Solid Shampoo Bar from the eco-friendly French brand Lamazuna. This brand has been on my radar for a while now, so I'm very excited to try out this shampoo bar which has been formulated for oily hair types - it's perfect for me! I also love the really fresh and slightly herbal scent it has.

Dr Hauschka Soothing Day Lotion (sample)

To round off June's LoveLula Beauty Box, subscribers can try out a sample of Dr Hauschka's bestselling Soothing Day Lotion to bring peace and calm to irritated skin.

5 Natural & Cruelty-Free Fragrances To Try This Summer

Thursday, 27 May 2021

The sun has finally come out to play and Summer definitely feels like it's on its way! As the new season approaches, I thought I'd put together an edit of some of my favourite cruelty-freenatural fragrances for the Summer months ahead.

Try If You Like Sensual & Exotic Scents: Balm Balm Single Note Ylang Ylang Eau de Parfum* (33ml, £22, link)

Regular readers will know that I'm obsessed with all things Ylang Ylang so this natural perfume from Balm Balm had to be my number one pick. If you haven't tried these Balm Balm Single Note Eau de Parfums yet, you're truly missing out! Made from simply essential oil and pure grain alcohol, these fragrances are 100% vegan, natural and organic (certified by the Soil Association) and feature just a single essential oil for the purest outcome. Ylang Ylang is a bold and sensual perfume and can be worn on its own or layered with other single-note fragrances from the Balm Balm range.

Try If You Like Happy & Uplifting Scents: Kathleen Natural Citrus Cheer Roll On Perfume* (10ml, £18.40, link)

For those who prefer an alcohol-free fragrance, you can't go wrong with these lovely Kathleen Natural rollerball perfumes. 100% natural, cruelty-free and vegan-friendly, my favourite is called Citrus Cheer which sums up this scent so well! This essential oil blend has top notes of Lemon and a heart of Rosewood which is layered over a base of Geranium. Happy and uplifting, it's guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Try If You Like Fruity & Fresh Scents: Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Roll-On Perfume* (10ml, £12.99, link)

With its slim and chic design, it's easy to see why the Pacifica Roll-On Perfumes are so popular and I've tried out various scents from this range over the years. The one that I keep repurchasing on a yearly basis though is the Tuscan Blood Orange Perfume which marries together juicy Blood Orange with zesty Italian Mandarin, plus lovely sparkling Raspberry and Strawberry notes to keep the Summer vibes going strong all season long. Natural, cruelty-free and suitable for vegans.

Try If You Like Sweet & Comforting Scents: Bloomtown The Café Roll-On Infused Oil* (10ml, £6, link)

If you're on a budget, I highly recommend the Roll-On Infused Oils from the British natural brand Bloomtown. Handmade in Truro, Cornwall, these are seriously underrated and they are an absolute steal at just £6! The range is certified cruelty-free, vegan, and palm-oil-free, and they have six signature scents to choose from. I love The Café which is a sublime blend of Hazelnut, Vanilla, Coffee and Chocolate for a sweet and cosy fragrance. Not only that, but these double up as nourishing oils for your skin and hair too and can be used to hydrate dry skin areas, as well as smoothing split ends - pretty clever indeed!

Try If You Like Contemporary & Fun Scents: Flaya Island Eau de Parfum* (10ml, £12.99, link)

Flaya is a new brand discovery for me and I was delighted to come across their natural, organic and vegan-friendly perfumes when I was browsing LoveLula one evening. This small, family-run business specialises in fragrances that are created from only natural and plant-based ingredients. Each perfume is handmade, hand-bottled and hand-packed in the UK, and the brand is proud to have several certifications from a range of ethical companies including the Vegan Society and the Ethical Consumer Best Buy label. I decided to try their Island fragrance recently and I've been smitten with it ever since. It's a warm, fun and modern scent with happy fresh Citrus notes combined with sensual undertones of Ylang Ylang.
