Challenge #282 - Photo Challenge

Hello, friends of Time Out. Welcome back! If you are a newcomer to Time Out Challenges, we extend a very warm welcome to you. We're glad you are here.

We have a new challenge that opens today and runs through February 26. This time it is a Photo challenge. It is an extra special Photo Challenge because the photo inspiration is a handmade bag by Kim Heggins. Kim is a former Time Out DT Member and owner of Running Stitch Design, Kim's ETSY Store from which she sells her marvelous handmade bags. For this special yearly challenge, Kim's handmade bag is both the inspiration AND the prize. Thank you, Kim for generously sponsoring us once again. It's so much fun and we look forward to seeing the fabrics you choose each year!

How does Kim's bag inspire you? Is it the colors? Snowflakes? Hearts? Shape? If it is not obvious how you were inspired in your project, please explain it in your post. Use your imagination, and have fun!

We are so pleased to welcome Arlene Rose of Sundaystamper Papercrafts, and winner of Time Out #277 as Guest Designer. Arlene's creativity is so inspiring. Her art is eclectic in terms of design and mediums, though is it often CAS. Arlene is a frequent contributor to Time Out. We love to see her creations in the gallery! Do treat yourself to a stroll through her blog for some wonderful inspiration.

Here is a bit about Arlene in her own words:

"From the age of two I have always had an instrument of art in my hand. It started with crayons and never stopped. I was signed up to art school after graduation from nursing school but met my hubby and that led me down a different path. I have been rubber stamping for over 45 years.

Back then I was only able to find stamps and ink pads in the local drug store. I had my youngest, born with Down’s Syndrome, and stayed home where I began teaching online. After my boys were in school I started working in craft and stamp stores, sadly all now closed. I have been teaching card crafting as well as other crafts for 12 years in the library system. I love to share my 'talents' that God gave me with others."

This is Arlene's wonderful Challenge Card. Check out all the details HERE.

And now for some inspiration from our design team!

Challenge #281 - Pick Two: Stitch, Layer, Heart, Food, Love, Warm

Hello, friends of Time Out. Welcome back! If you are a newcomer to Time Out Challenges, we extend a very warm welcome to you. We're glad you are here.

We have a new challenge for you that that opens today and runs through February 12. This time it is a Pick Two challenge, a new type of challenge in our rota

The idea of this challenge is very simple: You'll pick two (or more) words from the 6 words provided and use them in your project in some way. Some words can have a double meaning; for example this time 'Warm' could inspire you to use warm colors or to create a scenic beach card. We hope you'll find our Pick Two challenge very inspiring!

The words that you are picking from this time are:

Stitch, Layer, Heart, Food, Love, Warm

If the way you are using the two (or more) words as your inspiration is less than obvious, please let us know how you were inspired!

Newton's Nook is our wonderful sponsor, generously offering a $25.00 Newton's Nook Store Credit as a prize for our Challenge Winner. Our winner will also be invited to join us as Guest Designer for a future challenge.

We are joined by Marcia Hill of Marcia's Stampin' Pad, and winner of Time Out #276 as Guest Designer. Marcia is a super talented cardmaker with mad design and coloring skills. We are so happy to have her with us for our first "Pick Two" Challenge. It requires that 2 of the 6 inspiration prompts be chosen for the entries, but Marcia included five out of six of the choices. How fun!

Here is a little bit about Marcia in her own words:

"Marcia here. I've been a card making enthusiast since 1999 when I was first introduced to Stampin' Up!.  My style has evolved over the years from as many layers as I could fit on a card and still be able to mail it, to CAS and recently a big love of stenciling. My craft room is my happy place and that's where you'll find me most days, unless I'm with my grands.  We have 5 now (5th born Dec. 17th) and we love every minute we get to spend with them!  Happy crafting, friends!!"

This is Marcia's wonderful Challenge Card. Check out all the details HERE.

Challenge #280 - Inspired By: Your favorite things to do in January

Hello, friends of Time Out. Welcome back! If you are a newcomer to Time Out Challenges, we extend a very warm welcome to you. We're glad you are here.

We have a new challenge that opens today and runs through January 29. It is an "Inspired By" challenge which is a new challenge in our rotation. With each of our "Inspired By" challenges this year, the challenge title will be "Inspired by your favorite...". This time we want you to be inspired by one or more of your favorite things to do in January and to reflect it in your project.

Think about an activity you enjoy where you live: a sport, beverage, hobby, place to go, things to read, music to play... It can also be someplace you like to travel to for something you can't do where you live... For example, our southern hemisphere players might wish to go skiing in the Alps and our northern hemisphere players may want to go lie on a beach in the Caribbean... you get the picture. Please be sure to explain your choice in your post.

Challenge #280

Our wonderful sponsor, Lawn Fawnis generously offering a $25 store credit as a prize for our Challenge Winner, who will also get an invitation to join us as Guest Designer for a future challenge.

We are joined by Verena Shapiro of simple_stamper on Instagram, and winner of Time Out #275 as Guest Designer. Verena's cards are wonderful, simple and clever. Treat yourself to a stroll through her Instagram for some fabulous inspiration.

Here is a little bit about Verena in her own words:

"Hi! My name is Verena, and I live in Ottawa, Canada. I originally started papercrafting about 20 years ago, but as a mom of three life got too busy, and I never fully got into it. During Covid I suddenly had all this spare time available, so I decided to give cardmaking another try. Well, I haven't been able to stop since! I tend to lean towards clean and simple cards. My life can be pretty chaotic, and there's just something incredibly calming about clean lines and white space. I absolutely love card challenges. They push me out of my comfort zone and make me look at my stash differently. Thank you everyone at
Time Out for the wonderful inspiration you all always provide!"

THIS is Verena's fabulous make for our challenge. She loves to start the new year with a bang and good intentions. Please visit her on Instagram for details.
